@MrWarmsie The idea of these videos was to compare like for like with similar swing speeds, you are incorrect in your assumptions, nobody is “bashing this machine” you are obviously a ML fan & have seen something you don’t agree with, just try the same test yourself BUT don’t slow down from your normal detecting sweep speed & you will have a nasty shock, I hope you continue enjoying your machine & have many good finds.
@Rhuantavan I disagree. If a metal detector can't detect a coin 10cm in the air, it won't detect it in the soil at that depth either. It helps at least identifying the poor detectors. It can also provide some information about the maximum possible depth that a detector is able to reach, although in real conditions will be different.
i think minelabs with the fbs tech. need to be used at the beaches.. clean beaches .. and try to find the deeper stuff in the wet sand with them. what a terrible recovery speed this unit has for regular hunts..
@MrWarmsie I’m afraid you’re very much mistaken, Norfolk Wolf was also a Minelab user himself & was only too aware of the pro’s & cons of this machine, you have missed the point entirely, this is a like for like comparison at realistic detecting speeds. Maybe a quick read of his book ‘Advanced Detecting’ will help you to understand what is being shown.
Wish I had NEVER sold my explorer XS, I could go right behind people who had swept around a picnic area and pull coins out left and right. Better yet with the right program loaded I could work right around a park bench, where most detectors go freakin' nuts, and dig out coins like it was easy :) ...sigh.. loved that machine :(
All machines with digital readouts have factory presets like based on the size of a range of coins , and all so ring shapped metals ,so if you run a pound coin over THE coil of an Explorer two, it registers at 28 ish on all Explorers its the same , with a range of coinage for the uk , presets for the states may be different, they are all so preset to show pull rings and bottle tops ,28 seperate frequencies will give more depth constantly , you cant compare single Freq VLF machine..
Explorer se. Trash! Have given up on mine. Read and re read ,bench tested repeatedly . Have used in field hours. Nothing but expensive heartbreak.. Wish I could afford another Whites or Garretts. I would prefer not to leave a bad review, but am sincerely hurt. Hours of work. I believe the se is defective. I have been a detectorist over 30 years

@LandroverB1 My goodness the last time I used a Groundhog was 30+ years ago, we still carry spare parts for these golden oldies.
RIP Norfolk Wolf!
The recovery speed on this detector is not great I would say. The recovery speed on the new minelab safari is amazing.

Nice video just subbed you
@fastfire97 Sorry, we can't comment on that.
