Thanks for getting our very brown Panda in the video and for the mention! Yes crazy the old owner of the car was there too, mad, great day Ian thanks for organising it all, good cars and people, win win!
Well done HubNut HQ, I had a great time! None of the people I was speaking to fell asleep with boredom, either! Cracking event, even with that old red heap and its trailer in the corner!
Nice to see my old kitten is still about. Owned that Kitten back in the mid to late 80's when it was originally white. Some interesting cars & the 4 wheel steer taxi was impressive as never seen that before.
Thanks Ian for a great day out, and for featuring my Avi. It was nice to put the Espace and and the Avantime together for the 'First and Last' picture. Certainly lots of cars there that are on my 'wish I could own' bucket list, and many 'normal' cars that you don't see on the roads any more. Apart from the Espace the highlights were the well looked after Citroens (GS, 2CV, Dyane and C15) along with the P6 Rover, not forgetting Betty.
Thanks for a great day, Ian. Met some lovely people. It was nice to meet others who believe your car doesn't need to be classic or exotic for you to love it. Good to see Betty. Camry now sports a Hub Nut sticker. See you at the next one.
An absolutely brilliant day. Great to meet you and the Hubnut family. I even got to show JayEmm around my car. Nice to see some bonus 4WS action too. Tough to pick a favorite car of the day ... for me it has to be the Freelander with the 'wood' panelling. Shouldn't work but it actually does (for me anyway). Can't wait for the next social, thanks for organising a great event.
VIP must stand for Very Impressive Panda in that context. I love the fact you can see a BMW i3 parked next to a Trabant and 2 totally different demonstrations of 4 wheel steering.
Splendid. Once again, I regret the great distance between the UK and my home in mid-USA. At least I can be there in spirit, thanks to your videos. Thanks!
Unfortunately I couldn't get there that day as I was on a sailing trip as a birthday treat for my dad, but I'm glad you came to Surrey! And Brooklands is a great place 😊
That looks as much fun as the one on the 14th at The Motorist, there was an Accord Aerodeck at that Social too in very nice shade of red. The car of the show for me was the Opel Monza, they're a beautiful car IMO.
One of the most chilled car meet ups I've been to. Great cars and met a friendly gang with a common interest, , well done Ian and the Hubnut family, pleasure to meet you at last.
Loved this HubNut Social at Brooklands and i'm glad I got the chance to say hello to you and Miss Hubnut. It was a superb event and the people there were awesome! Already looking forward to the next one. You'd be more than welcome to give my 100HP a spin if you wanted to see what one was like 😁👍
Thank you for a most enjoyable day, Ian and family ! (PS It made me want a Princess wedge again now the suspension parts are being commercially renovated... aaargh...!)
I've driven a Viano of the same type as that Vito, and the turning circle's pretty good in the first place - it must be insanely small after added that rear-wheel steering! Incidentally, I drove past the crash site on the exit of the Carholme roundabout on Lincoln bypass today, and someone's planted a little England flag in the middle of it.
Ha, I like that you pointed out my Twingo's silly wipers. And yes, you always end up with a dribble down the window. It also has the added benefit that you have to take the wipers off, and all the plastic surround, anytime you need to do work on the front suspension. It's also got auto wipers that sometimes seem to do there own thing. That said, I'm only its second proper owner* (it's first owner was a motorway cop of all things. He only sold it as he was moving to Australia). I've had it for just over 8 1/2 years, its got 101,000 miles on it (about 70,000 miles with me) and I don't think I'll ever sell it. It's a Twingo GT. Its an 1149cc intercooled turbo petrol. Single cam, 16v ( Y shaped rocker arms, it pushes down 2 valves together, old school tappets too that you have to adjust yourself), iron block, but with sodium filled valves, piston cooling oil jets and an oil to water heat exchanger. A weird mix of an old basic economy engine design from the early 90's, with lots of fancy bits added to it to by Renault to boost power. The Twingo GT came out before the Twingo RS, but they have seem to have become a bit forgotten about. (The GT ran from 07 to 10, The RS ran from 08 to 13). (*Renault pre-registered it, they owned it for its first month of life. It's still got its original Renault Sutton Park Group plates on it, even though it only spent a month in Birmingham, the rest of it life has been in Surrey and Sussex.)
Should you ever consider a Hubnut social in Germany, you should do it at Sinsheim Muaeum. They have a "Concordsky" there (Russian Tu-144). Oh, and seemingly the biggest car collection in Germany ;-)
Thanks for the great event Ian, was nice to meet you again after the Festival of the Unexceptional. Really liked Brooklands, that was the first time I'd actually been there. I'll definitely have to visit again to see the rest of the museum. Thanks for featuring the Previa too. Really enjoyed the day and all the other wonderful people that attended.
How wonderful it is that the video of the organiser almost comes late to the party, having seen the other videos about the same event already. 😂 I am genuinely touched by the friendly atmosphere of these events. It's a bit difficult for me to visit but if I could, I definitely would.
C15, great vans, had a 2006 one from new and loved every mile for the next nine years. Citroen fixed centre steering wheel...love it in our C4 Picasso, very odd at first, but soon seems so normal. Looks like you had a great day, well done to all.
At 4:42 it’s actually a Vanden Plas 1500 .. VP Princess was a different car. My dad had a 1500 when I was a wee nipper in Bronze Metallic with tan leather. I remember that as my mode of transport to and from school and sliding around on the leather back seat lol
Well, that was awesome! Me thinks you should do real road tests of quite a few of the cars participating; Avantime, Mazda 626 4WS (loved that generation of 626 - looks so sleek), Honda Accord coupe, that lovely Espace, the Riley, the BMW i3 ( so fun to drive - love them!), the Trabbi - the list goes on and on!
Thanks for putting on a fantastic event again Ian, met lots of good folk! Sadly the Accord Coupe didn't make it home and is possibly looking at some major work before it's back on the road again :(
@@HubNut No not gearbox mate, its thrown the timing belt :( Not entirely sure why yet and not sure of the full extent of the damage either, only thing I am sure of is that it's expensive times ahead
That was a nice turnout. I was surprised to see a Toyota Previa. I used to own 2 of them. Fantastic family vehicles. The later ones came supercharged and all wheel drive. Great acceleration and handling. The best part was the amount of room inside. It could not be beat. That would be a nice video.
River p6 v8... oooh I still would.... Renault Avantime.... oooh and I nearly bought a purple one.... not sure if I saved myself or see that as a regret.... Lots of lovely motors and folks by the look of it....
Thanks for a great event. Lovely people, interesting cars and Concorde. Hubnut in 3D and with all the smells of classic cars. The interior smell of an Allegro is hard to emulate on UA-cam.
Nice collection of everyday cars from our past. Hey, a regular Reliant Kitten, I have the Estate. Great memories of Brooklands museum in 2013, with a flight in the Concorde!
1:37 brings me memories about my Ghia, was like that, same color and in that shape, 78.000km from new, 1 owner. That's why you don't sell classic cars, you regret it all life. 😔
Ford Escort Mk II Ghia in champagne was my family's second car. Our other car was a Cortina from the same era I suppose the Vanden Plan Princess was our equivalent of our Cadillac Cimarron here in the US. I'm surprised to see a botched paint on a Lexus, that is a GM trademark
Now you need someone to show up in a Honda Prelude 4 wheel steer and a Chevrolet Silverado 4 wheel steer 😁 I used to detest driving my wife's Accord Wagon on account of the horrendously large turning radius...and I have noticed the same problem on lots of other Hondas. It's a shame that Honda's 4 wheel steering system never took off...
I hope that AC Cobra (-ish, I think) made itself at home, and found a way to be HubNut. I'd be interested if you do get to test a BMW i3; we nearly bought one (used import from Japan), and it's very space-age and futuristic inside, and going onto the Auckland motorway to the Harbour Bridge I enjoyed the whoosh very much; I bet you didn't notice the a regular wave form on the bridge roadway, and I didn't know it was there, but the i3 resonated with it, and I nearly lost my lunch. And then we drove it round our part of town, and every crack in the tarmac produced a mighty crump. Great pity--it would have been tres groovy, but not very practical, and penitential to drive around on anything but the boulevards of the rich and well-connected.
I'm so sorry to have missed this meet. I had the choice of the damned to make at the weekend, do I go to Hub Nut or do I take a turn Driving a Steam Locomotive for the day. Sorry Ian but the Steam Loco won. I hope you understand, it's only the first Drive I've had in two years and felt that I really could not pass up. Having seen this I'm now totally devastated as you had Betty there! Looks like you had all of the good times. Thanks for posting.
I had what looked like the same manifold on a v8 converted MGB I bought the dashpot tops of the carbs just touched the inside of the bonnet and wore the paint away....but induction roar from those KN's meant no need for a radio
I was so disappointed that I couldn't make it there, had my ticket and was set to go only to discover a split in my car tyre and didn't feel safe enough to risk it.
Thanks for getting our very brown Panda in the video and for the mention! Yes crazy the old owner of the car was there too, mad, great day Ian thanks for organising it all, good cars and people, win win!

No ego's to massage, just salt of the earth car people enjoying each others company👍

Marvellous event, thank you ever so much indeed for the invitation! Great to speak to you again in person, Ian.

It was a really great day, we stayed right to the end and enjoyed talking with various other car owners and a quick look round the museum
I need to see Brooklands for myself, and also attend a Hubnut social if they ever come up north. They both sound like excellent days out.
The nose of that glorious British Airways VC10 looking over you is so beautiful it makes me cry...
It was a brilliant day and great to meet you and so many like-minded people! Nice to see my Audi Cabrio make an appearance too ;)
What a terrific gathering of cars and people. I am certainly jealous.
That Monza is lovely !. One of my bucket list cars right there.
Vauxhall Royale did a similar car too very nice
4-Wheel steering on a Mercedes Taxi to work its way around the "Benz"! LOL
Nice work!

Brooklands is such a good honest museum. Many enjoyable visits there. The HubNut social did it proud 😊👍
