Helpful video! Here's an important tip tho: there's an ACCESS PANEL behind the pass side wheel that makes it easier 2get2 the lower bolts (i have a '93 4.9; the 4.5 shld be similar). Remove the pulley bolts by jamming a screwdriver (etc) thru it to keep it from turning, then let it hang there. It will come off later when you unbolt the pump. This SHOULD eliminate the need to raise the engine but the 4.5 may be slightly different. Dont forget to transfer the pulley to the new pump BEFORE u rebolt that to the engine. The torx screws are no biggie; they're not on tight. Be careful with those 13 little screws (10mm) he mentions; they are ez to drop! Btw: after ur done, refill the coolant thru the thermostat housing, NOT the radiator cap; this prevents air binding. Good luck. Thx again guy for the video😊

The "Chris Fix" reference was funny as 😂 hell. You gotta give it to XJ Jesse in reference to his quality jobs. He takes his time and does it right so he doesn't have to do it again. 😊

About to do this on my kids mothers extra car. Ima mechanic but was looking to find what tools to pack with me.
Video helped me alot to know what I needed. Took me 23 min to total to change about 45 with double checks an finishing buttoning up to test start.
I was in the woods behind her house with no tools around but what I brought from home.
So if your not a mechanic an still like to try to learn an diy then this is a project you can handle. For anyone that mechanically inclined.
I would say give yourself 2 hr of working time if your not a mechanic. That should be enough for the average person to give it a go. But if your decent with tools and fixing stuff then I would say you could get the water pump shaped in a hour an be buttoning stuff up at the hour mark .
But yeah don't be afraid this is a good job to learn alot an shot how stuff can be in awkward places to work on but it's str8 forward to do with a mix of tools an small problem solving

Take your time and be patient. This job can be frustrating and by the way, I did end up using fel-pro gasket and some RTV silicone. I did this job twice. 🥲

Appreciate the video homie. Doing the same job now on my 90 Seville. Luckily there’s quite a bit of room compared to the deville so all I had to remove was the battery and coolant res, and had quite a bit of space to work with. Only bummer is 3 broken 10mm bolts I’ve gotta extract… it’s never that easy 😭

Each time a part needs to be replaced, you hear "another one", in a DJ Khaled voice in your head :) Have a great day!

I'm working on my 92 with the 4.9L. How the hell did you get the bottom torx bolt, and the bolt on the bottom under the pully out. I've spent an hour and a half on just those 2, and still don't have them out. I'm about ready to push this thing off a cliff.
