    Not terrible actually
    Well the car was designed as a nose down ideal for better balance. So yes the frontal collision will really get crumpled downward. What surprises me the most is they got a crash test dummy into the back seat with some leg room.

      @Corey Brown Gaming my thoughts exactly. Very very rarely are the back seats ever gonna have someone in them, like basically only when you're in a bind & no one else has room.

    Safety ratings lost their meaning when they started weighting them heavily towards “active” features. Would I have bought a 4 star car 10 years ago? No. Would I buy a 2 star car now…that would have been a 5 star car 10 years ago? Absolutely.

      Incorrect. Majority 5/5 or 4/5 for front and side impact occupant safety tests. 2/5 for rear end collision neck safety. 5/5 and 4/5 pedestrian safety for head and leg collision. Basically 0 points (2 technically) out of 80 for collision avoidance systems and 0 out of 8 points for post-crash automated call systems.
      It’s literally just the lack of pre-collision avoidance systems, lack of “OnStar” style systems, and below average rear-end collision scores.
      But you’re right in that as passengers it’s borderline 5 stars.

    I own a 23 GR86. Toyota and Subaru made a very safe car for what it is, given it is a 2700 lb sports car. Only reason why it got this “low” is because of the car not having any form of driver assist, besides blind spot monitoring which is standard on all trims of both the GR86 and BRZ, regardless of transmission choice. The human occupancy score is a 5 out of 5 I believe, so it is pretty good!

  • @GTTClan
    @GTTClan 2 роки тому +60

    TITLE IS WRONG FOR 2 REASONS:
    1. These are Premium trim levels (Or in Subaru's case, "Limited")
    2. Why is this disappointing?
    Am I missing something?
    All passengers were safe. Airbags deployed in all instances.
    This needs an explanation. This car is not built to be "Super safe" but it does have enough safety features to make sure you can get home at the end of the day. (Of course if the crash is street based)
    But why 2 star? The car didn't crunch close to the people sitting inside from the front.

      @spetsnazttv6724 2 роки тому +10

      I agree, often cars with poor crash performance get rated over cars with good crash dynamics due ti a difference in tech. For instance my WRX is “worse” than my HRV. Both cars are the same year 2021. The HRV has full Honda sense and the WRX being manual does not have a camera/detection system. However in actual crashes the WRX has more/better airbag placement, exponentially stronger passenger cell, significantly lower rollover risk, better braking distance and it shows in the deaths per million registered miles. Even though the WRX is driven way faster on avg it kills less people per million miles… but ofcourse hOnDa SeNsInG

    I recently was in an extremely violent wreck in my 23' gr86 and I would like to credit the car with how it held up and with no exaggeration, saving my life. I will say that although this cars construction and safety features saved me from meeting an untimely and gruesome demise, the accident was entirely caused by the vehicles electronic steering and traction control system. Be very weary when purchasing these cars and it would almost be better to drive it with traction control completely turned off/ track mode unless you are driving in snowy conditions.

Either way ti makes it clickbait without the explanation, as I personally don't know what's wrong here or why these "results" are "disappointing" as to what would be the expected outcome. In this Japanese test, manuals are selected for the test because they are the most popular models. Manuals are not equipped with collision avoidance systems, which is why they are rated this way. If it were an automatic transmission, the rating would have been better. In fact, the IIHS in the U.S. gave the BRZ a much better rating.

    Someone already k.o ed in 1. Get an SUV instead if youre worried.... obviously you need to be a pilot look extra when at intersections and behave differently with sports cars. Harder to be seen. I have a Z and proceed with caution. Obviously I cant afford to crash or be crashed into due to the size of the car

    Loses stars for pedestrian safety, what a load of BS. Whats next the car loses stars because doesn't have air bags on the outside for pedestrians? Or maybe its not gender fluid enough?

      No safety assists = no good rating. It actually has 5 stars from collision tests.

      @@zolapeez9114 Lol..Please read the NCAP report dude. It scored around 86 points in collision test which is same as many 5-star rated cars from JNCAP. But this car had no Collision preventing Safety aids & Auto-Calling feature in emergency, thus leading it to get a less score.
