- Red Rowe hosts this episode of the CBS game show "Video Village". He's assisted by Joanne Copeland (who would later marry Johnny Carson), and announcer Kenny Williams as the "Town Crier". Red mentions that this is their final primetime show of the season, which I believe would make the airdate September 16, 1960. Part 1 of 3.

Yes, on CBS' Tuesday night schedule in the fall of '60, "FATHER KNOWS BEST" (repeats, as the series ended production after the 1959-'60 season) kicked off the evening at 8pm(et), followed by 'DOBIE GILLIS" [8:30], "THE TOM EWELL SHOW" [9pm], "THE RED SKELTON SHOW" [9:30], and "THE GARRY MOORE SHOW" [10pm]. The "TV fans" are Carol Burnett {a regular on Moore's program} and Garry's announcer, Durward Kirby.
This was broadcast from the same CBS New York studio that made history with the original live broadcast of "Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella" starring Julie Andrews.
Thank you for putting up....this my Dad..Red Rowe....If you can find his" Panorama. Pacific" show would be great...can't seem to find much at all.
Remember this as a 10 year old-it was an interesting game.
Just found the board game at an estate sale and purchased it. Looks fun!
I loved Video Village!
I watched Video Village Junior when I was a kid and I remembered the Prize Pond .. was hoping to find a whole show but I'm guessing none are available....
the 1960 preview is priceless.
The daytime version as initially hosted by Jack Narz, but the best-known host of the show was Narz's successor, Monty Hall.
I believe Eileen ("If I Knew You Were Comin', I'd Have Baked A Cake") Barton was the model on the daytime version, who worked with Williams and both Narz and Hall.
Kenny Williams would, behind-the-cameras, become the longtime off-camera announcer for the original "Hollywood Squares", for which is what he's best remembered.
The daytime version continued through 1962.
By the way, Garry Moore's promo at 2:07 of this clip talking about "That Wonderful Year 1960" referred to a segment on his early 60s variety show which reviewed the top news stories, trends, and fads of a different year each week through comedy and songs.
I love that show
Jimmy looks like a young Anthony Perkins. They said he needed a 3 or 4 to cross the bridge, but they rolled a 2, and he crossed anyway?
Once it came up, he said he meant a 2 or 3.
Carol Burnett with Derwood Kerby on that first commercial break.
My dad Dal Mckennon was down the hall doing his 'Captain Jet ' kid's program for KNXT during Carson's Cellar.
Steve Mckennon That was after "Video Village" moved to Hollywood two weeks after Monty Hall took over as host. This episode was broadcast when the show was still originating from New York with Jack Narz still officially the host.
I am sorry that I did not see your question. ..about my Dad...Red Rowe, and having something against guitar players or guitars? Actually he must be cracking a joke about that, since my Dad Is a Rythm Guitar. player. Since age 11. The for asking hope I answered your question...
On the United Way PSA at the end, the announcer sounds like it's Vic Perrin (Control Voice from Outer Limits)
You're very welcome! Unfortunately I don't have anything on "Panorama".
What does Red Rowe have against guitar players?
