this was great to see. always thought the production was ironically complex for being “generic bubble gum pop music” back in the day. would love to see your spin on “neptunes” type of production back in the day
that was kind of the hook of it all. it was called thoughtless, but 5 part harmonies with mode changes, is anything but. I always like how in the "pop" world, you have to find new ways to create using the same limited tools. Also... I can't wait for the Neptunes tut
What i noticed about 2000s style is how much acoustic guitars were used and strings. This sample pack is gold my man. I have some synths in my studio alot sounds from the roland jv 2080.
I really love the vibe of the late 90s to 2000s music. It's something I really want to incorporate on my music and I'm giving you a lot of thanks because of tutorials like these that are super worthwhile to take time and absorb
I feel so much nostalgia for 90's and 00's boy bands and this was great!! I would love to see/hear your take on a boy band type ballad/love song. And for those that say that boy bands don't make 'real music' clearly haven't seen this video because a lot of work goes into it!! Well done!
As someone who's born in 91 and lived through that era, this definitely took me down memory lane - tho it still sounds a bit too modern and bright in some ways 😊 For anyone who really wants to dive into the elements of what went into all these 90's pop tracks, I have all the original stems from Oops!... I Did It Again. There's surprisingly large amounts of slap bass and funk guitar going on in those tracks and you'd instantly find a bunch of sounds, that was heavily used the board for BSB tracks as well 😅
This is awesome! I bought the Y2K pack and am looking forward to using it a lot. There's a shortage of videos on UA-cam about this style of production. I'd love to see a video of you making a guitar-style Backstreet Boys song, like I Want It That Way or Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely. Keep up the great work!
I'm years late to this channel but I literally feel like a child in a candy store going through the video library. So So So So So good. Thank you for this content. God bless you
This reminds me of one of my childhood favorite Backstreet Boys' song, "Everybody" Nostalgia 🤩 Anyways, I can't explain in words how much your videos have taught me and the best part is that all of these easily translate to Studio One Keep going Guru 🙏🏼
Ok personally I am not a pop music fan but I love your music production work. It’s very good stuff and I’m impressed by the sound of this one. Great job
Bhai! A big thank you for creating this fantastic video on making 2000s pop music. Although I was introduced to Western music a bit later around 2007, I must admit that many of my all-time favorite songs come from that iconic Timbaland and Max Martin era. Your video has not only brought back some incredible memories but also given me a deeper appreciation for the artistry and production techniques behind those nostalgic hits. Keep up the great work, and please continue sharing your insights and tutorials. Looking forward to more musical journeys down memory lane!
Thank you so much for making those packs for vital🙏 a soon as you switched to vital I started buying your packs. Already bought synergy and will buy Y2K right now❤
Super dope brother! Keeping with the 2000s style can you do 2000s kinda club dance pop I guess. Idk if its the name but artists like pitbull old chris brown older jason durulo usher etc. That would be dope!
Been waiting for a video like this for a long time. Super nice work, had a nice throwback hahaha love BSB and i’m a producer so really appreciate this video. Good job
F*ck YEAHHHH! Everytime you played that bass line at the start I wanted to sing "I want you ba--ack"! Seriously though, I've been wanting for you to make a video about this for years and it was totally worth the wait! Fun fact: I remember sending in an audition tape for "Making the Band" (O-Town).... but looking back with what happened with Lou Pearlman, I'm kinda glad I did NOT make the band! PS> YES please to the choreography video! :)
Have to shout out the originators of this sound - Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis who invented New Jack Swing. Those drums and Orchestra hits are key elements of their sound that Max Martin was "Inspired" by.
had to cop this one pack right away. just in case I feel that 90s Inspiration, I'm ready! - for anybody looking for a modern take, I think "Not Enough" by LIDO and THEY is fantastic example of a modern meets Y2K Boyband
Yo these beats slappppp today. When yo go back and bass boost bro they knew knew knew how to engineer songs back then man. I feel really bad for kids who werent there
Really loved this, even bought the pack. Been a huge Backstreet fan for nearly 4 years now and always wanted to produce max martin type hits. Maybe something along the lines of 'I Want It That Way' for another video?
Yesss i was expecting this vid since you are the new max martin in the game. I m commenting before even watching it lol , dont have the headphones to listen to it now but thank you for posting this. I knpw it will be a great vid🔥i ll watch tomorrow with headphones
@@MakePopMusicYes he is! Let me know what you think of my chorus remakes? I intend on uploading a few original songs i’m working on, using these sounds, as well :)
This is an excellent track inspired by that particular era. However, for others out there who really want to nail the Cheiron studio (Max Martin) sound, you need to have: 1. The heavy low piano sound (not quite the Oops piano used in this video) as the accent (Don't Want You Back, Don't Go Knocking On My Door), or main riff (You Drive Me Crazy, Get Another Boyfriend, Lucky), or as a replacement for the orch hit on the quieter part of the tracks, sometimes layered with a 'wow' bass. 2. The exhale 'heh' sounding hi-hat that plays on the e and a, and a maracas sounding one too used for rhythmic 'clutters'. 3. The 'robot-activating' riser, and the reverby tom-like downer that goes pooooom... 4. The whispery, reverby snare effect (most prominent in Stronger, 'I used to go with the flow'...paahhh). That sound is used everywhere in Cheiron's music, including their mid-tempos and ballads.
17:52 Max Martin didn't make Digital Get Down nor Pop Pop was produced by Timberlake, Wade Robson and BT, while DGG was produced by Veit Renn with Brad Daymond and Alex Greggs and written by JC CHASEZ (not Chavez) just a little trivia correction :)

Don't forget New Jack swing and the Cheiron sounds. Bruno Mars has paid a fitting tribute to New Jack swing in a few of his tracks alongside the Minneapolis sound!
@@MakePopMusic whatever has been out before will come back around again. I did see the track with lido. "Shoulda known what I got into, before we started f***ING. . ."
So here comes the expert on the subject! The "Strings" Cheiron/Max Martin always used can be found on The Vintage Keys Plus. It's hard to replicate the actual sound cause the vibrato/lfo is very unique sounding. They've used it on everything back in the day! It's probably out there on some VST now. The preset was called 'Stringwheel' such a iconic sound! So many hits!
Yes! Such an iconic patch. His actual orc hit was from the manic shots library. If you have those sounds, you have ever MM song from the late 90s and early 2000s 😂
This is awesome. I bought the sample pack and have been messing around. Would you mind if we borrowed this composition for a comedy sketch? I’ve recreated it and love it.
this was great to see. always thought the production was ironically complex for being “generic bubble gum pop music” back in the day. would love to see your spin on “neptunes” type of production back in the day

@MakePopMusic, what about 2000s rnb and hip-hop

they made songs for tweens, but they went the extra mile!
especially Max Martin, though swedes were always so good at dropping bangers
That 90s pop is timeless. I have seen max Martin actually once hehe 😊
What i noticed about 2000s style is how much acoustic guitars were used and strings. This sample pack is gold my man. I have some synths in my studio alot sounds from the roland jv 2080.

dude seriously props to you for all the work you put into these packs
definitely hearing that backstreet boys melody from the song, everybody
In those days in those productions they mostly used Korg Trinity, and Roland and E-mu sound modules
Yep! We sampled some of that stuff for this pack!
Yes, they most certainly have!
Slap bass preset called "Will Smith" 😂😂😂😂 great video Austin
