Great books! I remember I only learned to play lead guitar when my eldest sister's suitor gave me a copy of 'Beginning Lead Guitar' by Wolf Marshall. There I learned about pentatonics, Mixolydian, and basic techniques like hammer-on, pull-off, harmonics and tap-on techniques. :)

"Harmony and Theory" is the exact book I started with, one year ago. Just a fabulous tool for beginners and intermediate musicians. I use it every day, despite having many other books now, including Ted Greene's fantastic "Chord Chemistry" and some of his other books. "The Advancing Guitarist" will be my Christmas present to myself. Thanks, man. Merry Xmas!

Yes I 'm a psychologist but I'm not sure I'm the best person to give advice seeing how I play guitar for a living... I guess like in everything else, work a bit harder than everybody else. That should be a good start... Good luck!

Simple video can get trained with a guitar. Every one can train online and get notes from this video. This is the great books for beginner and more part available for followers to the next level. We can also search google for it for further detail

@shadowknight132 I don't think so... keep in mind that this is a book about orchestration and instruments, and not about composers (although it uses excerpts by some famous ones to illustrate the use and context of various instruments)

You would like a book called Fundamentals of Guitar by Miles Okazaki. Don't let it's name fool you, it's very comparable in depth to the Advancing Guitarist book. It's very informative and thorough in explaining everything about the guitar and makes you work to know the guitar and all of it's possibilities.

@veers0r It is not the easiest book out there, but you will always get things out of it as you progress. Buy it if you don't mind only being able to understand parts of it. With time, it will open up.
    Best,
    A

Riff Training 1 and 2 are other great books for guitarists of all levels. The Author is Jonathan Stranges.

Interesting video, Andre! Thanks for posting it and the other one you did. Keep 'em coming. Just like you, I love learning from books and have a lot of them. Btw, if you decide to write music for orchestra, you should definitely check out "The Study of Orchestration" by Samuel Adler, which is one of the most popular books on orchestration. Unfortunately, the newest editions are extremely expensive, but older editions are more reasonably priced.

Thanks ! This will help. I have Music Theory by Tom Kolb but I feel its a little confusing the more I get into it. I have a guitar teacher but cant afford it at the moment because I'm seeking a job at the moment just graduating out of college. My guitar teacher eventually will help me with Rock Discipline by John Petrucci, and this will help me til then! Especially getting back to reading music again, I lost practice over the years bc of college now trying to get back into reading music and such and feel I have to relearn everything again lol. So Thanks this helps!! :) Idk if you know of this book, Ive been looking for it for a while I'm not sure if I have the name right. Something like Guitar Feng Shui, it seemed interesting to me, but now I cant find it! I found it at barnes and noble and didnt get to buy it now I cant find it anywhere online. It was a green pastel book like either electric guitar feng shui, something like that. If you come across it please let me know ! :D

In Orchestration, does it have anything about Chopin and Nancarrow?
    I'm trying to study Nancarrow.

¿El libro de notación musical también te da la posibilidad de aprender a leer las partituras con la guitarra? Me gustaría interpretar pentagramas con la guitarra. Tengo algunas bases de solfeo pero me gustaría saber mucho más.

    • @andretonelli
      @andretonelli  8 років тому

A lot of my replies have disappeared... No, para leer te vendría mejor algún libro dedicado a eso específicamente. O simplemente ponte a leer partituras! Andre

If you`re a reader, you need to try site “fetching lobon only” (Google it) too. You could read any book you want here. There`s something on here to satisfy any mood or subject, whether fiction or nonfiction. Though it does not provide you an actual experience of holding a book, it still provides the same quality reading encounter. Love how the books are setup like someone just photo copied them in.

Hi, Jon Damian has one called The Chord Factory and it's pretty good. For more work but eventually more results, I would try to decipher the Joe Pass Chords book. Also Mickey Baker's books are very good. Andre

I would recommend to any readers this site “fetching lobon only” (Google it). There are several books you can read here. It gives fictional or non-fictional stories, or any reading material that will help jazz up your mood. Though it does not give you an actual experience of holding a book, it still offers the same quality reading encounter. The organization of the books in the site is The organization of the books in the outstanding. The books there are just like a photo cloned version of the genuine ones.

Thanks for the Video clip! Sorry for chiming in, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you thought about - Rozardner Inspiring Chord Reality (search on google)? It is a smashing one of a kind product for how to play guitar scales without the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my mate at last got great results with it.
