    You just explained how Joe Louis used to always score with that jab beautifully, while avoiding the jab coming from the other side so effortlessly. That's the technique!
    Great video as usual, Coach! :)

    I like coaches humility, saying he isn't perfect, and still makes mistakes, but always strives to correct them. It shows he too has the drive to be better. So there's no reason why those who learn from his videos shouldn't do the same. Lead by example!

      Allen Warren Yeah but fury didn’t go out to win in the first fight, he was weak as a kitten after losing so much weight and just tried to cruise a decision. This time he pushed towards wilder, a bully always crumbles when you bring it to them, just like Fury said. Nobody ever put wilder on the back foot before and as soon as someone did he crumbled under the pressure and didn’t know what to do

    • @marko9506
      @marko9506 5 років тому +1

      @@D3xTRb0y yeah but Fury is easily the best guy in the division. It was a brilliant gameplan but not exactly an obvious before. People have seen Wilder take punishment before and battle back. Fury smothered him in a way that only Fury can. I mean how many other boxers are 6ft9, 270lbs and possessing an 85in reach???

    • @D3xTRb0y
      @D3xTRb0y 5 років тому +1

I'll try to stay more from the chin without getting into up jabs. Like you said before Coach, always exaggerate the fundamentals on the mitts and the bags and leave the fancy stuff for sparring and the fight.

  • @konpoy

    Ok, finally!!! OAmerican old school jab!!!! As was thrown by Robertson and the rest of elite old school jabbers!!! And yes, its is thrown from the heel to tow stance which is also old school (60/40, more weight on the back foot). That's exactly what I have been teaching to my guys! That crap almost everyone throws nowadays is not enough reach! Like my coach used to say - your arm is longer than that, son! The explanation provided is a bit dif from the way I explain it but very educational nevertheless:) For me it's about bringing that shoulder in to protect the chin in such a way that with the eye closest to the shoulder you are looking at the fist like at the barrel of a gun. Btw, Eddie here does bring his elbow out a bit sometimes:). Now, the next thing to focus on is not skimming with it. Since you are aligning it in such a fashion there is a possibility that you dont land it with the first two knuckles. If I did that my coach would yell - who is over there? Lol same goes for number 2. Make sure the 1-2 are properly aligned as it's a bit difficult to do. So the best thing is 5 lb dumbbells that you throw 3/4 speed at your throat in the mirrow for some time regularly so it becomes part of your muscle memory. Also, when stepping forward with it should be baby steps. You are only allowed one long step on the last jab if necessary as long steps are easy to intercept. Btw, stance suggested for it should be off the back leg 60/40 as you want the lead shoulder higher than the back so you have full variety of punches at all angles thrown with the back hand as needed. Cool video on the greatest punch in boxing - THE OLD SCHOOL JAB!!! Cheers!!!!! Thank you very much!!!

    So interesting thing is that what he describe was our stance in Jeet Kune Do and that's how we throw the jab in Jeet Kune Do too. Also that punch with right movement can be devastating. I'm not saying that he's not right at all or it's not a boxer's technique. I'm just informing you guys about it. One more thing is that I'm not a professional with boxing. I'm a street fighter. it's completely different thing.

    I liked the video as always. As far as not flaring the elbow when you jab I agree but then comes individual and specialized work. Flaring the elbow could be a great technique for shorter, stockier fighters such as Tysom and Pacquiao. Why? It provides a built-in defense against overhand right counters. Also when you throw the double jab in many cases you are throwing it not necessarily to land but to close distance in which case flaring the elbow is more beneficial than shooti ng the jab straigh as it provides a built-in defense against the overhand right and the pull right hand counter.
