She is definitely not the ONLY asian singer who can do that. It's just that music critics don't know enough asian singers out there to give more Star rating. I'm asian and I listen to singers from Philippines, China, S Korea, Japan etc and I can tell you there are a lot of fantastic asian singers out there. To say the ONLY asian singer is like saying there's a dearth of asian singers who can achieve that, and I guarantee you this isn't the case. If you are western, then maybe I can see why because most westerners their world view is pretty eurocentric and they think only the best happen in the western world. There are many great Asian singers but only one has reached the vocal level of Mariah/Whitney/Barbra, etc. and that's SoHyang. China's economy has nothing to do with the fact that China hasn't produced a non-classical artist that has mastered all levels as she has.

Well, I would say the same thing I said to other singers who watches Sohyang, don't be disheartened or intimidated by Sohyang's technical level. It took her years of discipline and dedication to train herself to reach her level, which happens to be a pinnacle of mastery worthy of securing her a place in vocal pedagogy history book. It's not fair to compare anyone with someone who is the epitome of colab between raw talent and relentless training. Sohyang is perfect for aspiration and inspiration though, especially once a singer learn about Sohyang's backstory and motivation. I deeply respect her because her virtuosity, and admire her because of personality. Truly a rarity.

We all wonder if So Hyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she's from another planet or perhaps an angel come down from Heaven. We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. She does all the musical arrangements herself, teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks four languages. Korean, English, French and Vietnamese. Let me catch my breath. OK. She is a cancer survivor from uterine cancer at the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all travelled to Asia to work with her. She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. That head voice doesn't come from talent, it comes from years of experience and refinement. No one can take that away from her, she has the most polished head voice and falsetto I've ever heard. Not to say her mixed voice and belt are spectacular because they are. Also she's gorgeous which is never a bad thing for a performer to be.

Most of the people who sing on UA-cam have a mismatch between their emotions and sounds. They pretend to sing a lot of technique only. But Sohyang is emotion = sound. I can feel it in her strong chest voice. Sohyang doesn't make a sound. "Express" the sound. For example, when speaking, emotions and sounds match, but Sohyang sings as if speaking. So emotion = sound. Others sound difficult or plain. You need to know the difference.

Well, I would say the same thing I said to other singers who watches Sohyang, don't be disheartened or intimidated by Sohyang's technical level. It took her years of discipline and dedication to train herself to reach her level, which happens to be a pinnacle of mastery worthy of securing her a place in vocal pedagogy history book. It's not fair to compare anyone with someone who is the epitome of colab between raw talent and relentless training. Sohyang is perfect for aspiration and inspiration though, especially once a singer learn about Sohyang's backstory and motivation. I deeply respect her because her virtuosity, and admire her because of personality. Truly a rarity.

We all wonder if So Hyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she's from another planet or perhaps an angel come down from Heaven. We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. She does all the musical arrangements herself, teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks four languages. Korean, English, French and Vietnamese.
Let me catch my breath. OK.
She is a cancer survivor from uterine cancer at the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all travelled to Asia to work with her.
She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. After being sick with pneumonia through much of 2016, and considering giving up singing altogether, she decided to enter a televised singing contest called "King of the Masked Singers" in 2017 and won six consecutive times, which has catapulted her into international fame from the performances being posted on UA-cam. Foster then contacted So Hyang and went to Japan in order to work together. Oh, I just remembered, she is also a published novelist and a very good stage actress, which she proved by playing Julie Andrews’ part in the South Korean production of “The Sound of Music.” Moreover, she sang the “Moana” part in the Disney film.

With so many people setting a BAD example for others, and especially all the kids out there, So Hyang does precisely the opposite and shows them how to live a Godly life. John Henny had an emotional breakdown and had to shut off the camera. Roberto has a real talent for breaking down the psychological aspects of a performance and he didn't try to disguise his joy, as in "Mamma Mia!" Ha-ha! And Elizabeth was "Wow, wow, wow!"

That head voice doesn't come from talent, it comes from years of experience and refinement. No one can take that away from her, she has the most polished head voice and falsetto I've ever heard. Not to say her mixed voice and belt are spectacular because they are. Also she's gorgeous which is never a bad thing for a performer to be.

Most of the people who sing on UA-cam have a mismatch between their emotions and sounds. They pretend to sing a lot of technique only.
But Sohyang is emotion = sound.
I can feel it in her strong chest voice.
Sohyang doesn't make a sound. "Express" the sound.
For example, when speaking, emotions and sounds match, but Sohyang sings as if speaking.
So emotion = sound. Others sound difficult or plain.
You need to know the difference.
