I love the look of the case, but the price point and the temps make me once again acknowledge just how good the Cooler Master NR200 is for it's price, customization options and size...
This is actually pretty sick. Honestly, the CPU and GPu temps you were getting with the NH-L12s and two exhaust fans at the top is very reasonable considering the amount of horsepower being packed in to such a small enclosure. I doubt you would ever have to worry about any kind of thermal throttling.
I really enjoy Phanteks design language. Using Evolv Shift for 3 years and love it, this case also looks great, with minor bugs that they will probably fix in the future iterations, just like they did with Evolv Shift.
Thank you for talking about the cooling issues with the case. I originally bought the evolve Matx based on your old review and was Incredibly unhappy with the thermals, despite no issue being mentioned in the video. It seems like phanteks always has this issue. With the amazing thermals of the NR200 there is no reason for bad thermals in this day and age with sff
I bought the Phantex P300 and I have had no issues with cooling. I also like it a lot easy to swap parts, love the wire management. And have had little dust getting in to the pc.
I've been wanting to build an ITX form factor for the absolute longest and when this case was made available I purchased the case/PSU combo. This case comes off aesthetically pleasing. As for thermals it isn't the best and isn't the worse either. The true test will be when I start overclocking CPU & GPU.
Interesting case, love the Drgb as you call it hahaha, cracked me up. Designing and 3d printing a vertical stand shouldn't be that hard, or even 4 tall rubber feet to keep it simple. With this termal performance this case is more for a midrager PC if we want to keep it truly compact, but the option for aio is a welcome addition
Thanks for doing the review on this case! I saw this case online and was confused how it works during the building process. Very interesting, I couldn't find my lazy self building inside of this chasis. +Respect to people who has patients to build inside of this pretty thing!
Looks interesting and has some okay gimmick but airflow really needs to be given extra attention. The only choice seems to be the upper exhaust fans to dissipate heat.
I have this case pre-ordered. I will be water cooling it with an aio for now but have future plans for custom loop. I have a lian li q58 and totally abandoned that build to build in this case. Thanks for the review!
I do love MicroCenter. 2+hrs away right now. Grrrr. Was only 30 minutes away in a previous life. I bought my first 21" CRT, yes CRT, from them a very long time ago ... for my Amiga if that puts it in perspective. I miss that. Even they have been affected by what they carry in store. Little to no mail order sucks. But their prices and what they carry are still fantastic if you can get to them.
I have owned a Phantek case for about four years and in 30 years of PC buying, this is the first case I will recycle for my next build. I have the Pro M in black and all I need do for the next build is replace all the fans.
I’ve waited and ordered one on release day. Appreciate your solid advice on the best cooling layout. I was initially going for air cooling but will now look to get an aio and exhaust setup.
Exciting case! Too bad the temps aren't great.. Btw, any chance we'll soon have a look at the Fractal Torrent compact and nano? They looks really promising!
Temps are fine. You're just seeing numbers that are hardware stressed with software. In an everyday scenario use case, there's nothing wrong with the temps. I get 39 to 42 deg idle. And under 80 under load, which it rarely is.
Looks quite interesting. I think they missed an opportunity here with no bottom fans. The Jonsbo A4 has 2 bottom and 2 top fans, and you can really get some airflow in there if you want.
Nick from Gear Seekers mentioned that the dust filters restrict cooling capacity quite a bit and that removing them for him dropped temps by a few degrees C, but that comes at a cost of letting dust have unrestricted access to the components so it’s a “pick your poison” type of situation.
Running the top fans as exhaust makes the dust filters pointless anyway. They'd need to be intake to get positive pressure, forcing air in only through the filters.
I got that Zotac, I literally cut off an inch of the end shroud to place it into an i9 Extreme gen 1 NUC. LUCKILY it was literally like a hairs length from the fan shroud housing. Was probably the scariest thing I've ever done with tech I paid WAY TOO MUCH FOR. BUT knew that going into it. Mine's a 2070 Super which was supposedly the max supported with the power supply inside the NUC.
My favourite case manufacturer, the Evolv x is the only case I would swap my Corsair One for. I had the Evolv before and loved that thing 🙂 A shame the airflow isn’t great on this one but the idea is brilliant - version 2 will hopefully be improved.
I saw the temps of the Torrent Nano in the graphic and for a second I thought I miss the review of that case just to realize there is no video about it. Probably soon.
>overclocks cpu >complains that there are bad temperatures in his itx case with no fans who's use-case is this information for? someone who doesn't know how computers work? For someone like me who likes to undervolt and not overclock, all this tells me is that this case is perfect for me since even when you overclocked the CPU it didn't thermal throttle.
Is the cooling in this case adequate for HTPC purposes? I've got an old 3600X/5700XT build that I want to shove into a small case strictly for HTPC purposes. I would sell the CPU/GPU and grab a 3600G but it's just too much hassle. I really like the look of this case for a subdued brick next to my TV.
I think this is still a realy good competitor to the DAN 4 Case. With GPU's that become enormously big this case has his "right to exist" by default, for delivering 3 Slot GPU chamber.
I wonder how it will fare with an 11400 and a Palit RTX 3050? It's got the good looks necessary for a living room gaming PC. But that front panel is a bit of a turn-off especially as you said the cable for the USB C connector was 1 cm too short.
im pretty sure it would do very well, those components barely put out any heat at all. and the usb c connector might have to do with the size of the gpu or the way he was routing it or his specific motherboard.
I think the next few generations of on board graphics will be great for contact systems. The newest amd laptop cpus already can get around 80fps on forza.
Would any of Phanteks 3.5in stackable HDD sleds or 2.5in double/single stack SSD sled be compatible? Seeing how at least on paper Phanteks said they are meant/should be compatible in all future Evolv series
I feel like all itx build should prioritise minimising the footprint more than the actual volume. Smaller volume is great but if the case still have the same footprint as a mid tower whats the point? I feel like the reason people want an itx build is to have a smaller footprint pc sitting on their desk. Also, acoustic, its sitting on your desk, you want it to be as silent as itx can be. Which is why i think, personally the meshlicous is the ultimate itx case. I like the design of the phanteks, but if it can have a smaller footprint, its going to take meshlicous away from my cart.
Prefer the look of the Shift 2 Air much more. It does look cool, like a sci fi crate but not when it gets extended higher. Just looks broken with the gap in the middle. Vertically thought - that looks pretty awesome.
i have been thinking of evolving case for a long time but not like this. i figured if it was itx for transport and then expanded when in use that would be much better. i would create and share some models of how it could work but idk how could any of those brands notice it so i guess i just have to wait for them to figure it out on their own
I wish I'd waited I bought a Ghost S1 for $600 😭 waited years to get ahold of one then sure enough a week after I get one this actually comes out 🤦♂️ Oh well I'll grab one for a dedicated server maybe?
Slightly disappointing in the thermals like you mentioned, also that it cannot support a 280mm AIO! It is visually stunning though, with the issues mentioned it would not tempt me from my NR200, still looking at the SSUP case instead (to try something different)
I was so hyped for Phanteks' P200A, but having to place the radiator in the front, it was literally 2cm too short for my graphics card. This case has place for the radiator at the top, but still, it's too short for the graphics card, by 4mm.. 😒
I love the look of the case, but the price point and the temps make me once again acknowledge just how good the Cooler Master NR200 is for it's price, customization options and size...
Pretty much why I haven't switched my NR200. It is way too good for what it does lol.
Nr200 is way too big for it to be called an itx. But its also less than $100 and has amazing airflow.
@MrMilkyCoco case that is over or right about 20l is not considered as an itx case so
plus nr200 is still a itx case. It’s 18l so. I agree that is bigger than others itx cases. But still an itx case.
@@MrMilkyCoco Still ITX dude. Lmao.

I ordered mine the first second it officially was launched, only 3 more weeks to go! ^^
Now all we need is the Optimum Tech review, and my life will be fulfilled
Check out machines and more
The 9600K is a 90W chip, and your Low Profile Cooler is usually for 65W. In an ITX, I bet all temps would benefit from a 65W CPU.
Thank you, I was very interested, but seeing those temps I will wait for a refresh

Always like the well rounded review on HC. Pros and cons. I do like this case a lot. Might go for this end of the year when I build my itx system.
Thanks for doing the review on this case! I saw this case online and was confused how it works during the building process. Very interesting, I couldn't find my lazy self building inside of this chasis. +Respect to people who has patients to build inside of this pretty thing!
Wow. Editing is on point and Dmitry is ... extra Dmitry! I love it.

I'm super exited over the new Jurassic park trailer! Glad u got to work with the original cast, Chris!
Been waiting for tjis review!

Make sure you get the Phanteks t30 fans
guess we are not lucky in KY this time. Come closer Micro Center!
I have been waiting so long for this review
Exciting case! Too bad the temps aren't great..
Btw, any chance we'll soon have a look at the Fractal Torrent compact and nano? They looks really promising!
"Too bad the temps are great"
Why is it too bad?
@@sidesw1pe Woops, that's a typo..

love the looks but the airflow on the gpu :( Awesome review as always :D
Just bought the P200a and love it, changed from an NR200P which was good but wanted more options for my aio so changed to the P200a
As always, my favorite case reviewer
"you don't gotta die to go there...go there on Thursday!"🤣

Love the case and Microcenter needs to branch out in Canada.

Hope to see you review the Cooler master Mini X soon.
This is like Riotoro's Morpheus but that one can actually fit a bigger motherboard
"you probably did not see this sponsored transition coming"
**skips to the next chapter**
Visually pleasing design !
Wish you put a bigger GPU and talked more about GPU sizes that can fit
So which is better? Shift evolv xt or evolv shift 2 air?
I really like how you call DRGB :)
I saw the temps of the Torrent Nano in the graphic and for a second I thought I miss the review of that case just to realize there is no video about it. Probably soon.
3D printed vertical stand intensifies
OMG that would be epic! As long as its stable, would vertical this one lol
-D.

if you feed your case good enough any case grows ?

Can this case be used only as eGPU enclosure - no mainboard?
Hello, does this case fit an ASUS TUF 6900XT OC including a 240 AIO?
I want a Phanteks Shift 3 with the same layout of the Meshlicious....
Yep, vertical is dae wae for me. love desk space too much.

I've already preodered the new Dan A4 H20. But this would've been on my radar too.
What I was hoping for was a case that grows as your components are under load!
I think the next few generations of on board graphics will be great for contact systems. The newest amd laptop cpus already can get around 80fps on forza.
Seems like it would be easy to make it work in the tower position. I'm sure people will have a 3d printed base out there soon enough.
smoothest transition to sponsor award goes to...
do you know if this would support the 30 series gaming x trio cards?
i love it. i wish i had a use for this case. i might buy it just for the fun of it tbh.
Does it come in matx too?
I love this case, but something bugs me.
If 324 mm of GPU can fit in this Phanteks Evolv Shift XT, why can't at least a 280 mm AIO Cooler?
versatile pc case are always cool
Neat case!
Love to have a comparison with the IQUNIX ZX-1
Would any of Phanteks 3.5in stackable HDD sleds or 2.5in double/single stack SSD sled be compatible? Seeing how at least on paper Phanteks said they are meant/should be compatible in all future Evolv series
Feels like the old Phanteks is back!
Great review of a great case - THANKS! Please tell me, does anyone know when the next iteration of the Evolve X will be released? Anyone?
Wow what a great case
the case is very cool, but the comparison with meshlicious , less space with more options it's killer

They need to bring back evolv shift x
@ 1:02 , there are 6 cases, if I count form left, which are the 2nd, 5th and 6th? thanks!
This case looks so damn good!
I love the design
By i have the meshlicious ATM n they are probably the best itx ATM
I’m afraid that the temps will not be good with Ryzen 5900x and RTX3080 / RX6900xt

frontal panel is not a lcd digital temperature monitor ? in other reviews, i se this panel has a digital temperature monitor.
I wonder if a matx mobo can fit in this case... Since it grows.
You’d need a large AIO and Noctua 3070 to get decent temps in this thing

Can you review the Xproto-L case?
Can this fit my 12900k and 3080ti?
Awesome Case but front panel power button is a HUGE NO for me.
We getting a seiren bt review soon?
Just not sure why you would choose this over an nr200p or 200p max....
Cooler Master is deff cheaper and has more cooling / PSU options. Kinda like the SSUPD case. I love the design of the XT though...

you should try getting your hands on SAMA IM01
Oh, I'm gonna stand that up. Somehow.
очень красивая картинка и голос, ты лучший Дима)
Beautiful case. How hard would it be to make it vertical. I mean, come on... so disappointing.
Damn...MSI is really doing me dirty here. My old 1080 Ti Gaming X Trio wont fit there or with the Fractal Ridge....me sad. Well.....at least I tried!
Micro Center: We have everything but the GPU, just like everyone else.
I was so hyped for Phanteks' P200A, but having to place the radiator in the front, it was literally 2cm too short for my graphics card. This case has place for the radiator at the top, but still, it's too short for the graphics card, by 4mm.. 😒
1:34 I'm disappointed in myself for laughing at this.
its on my mind
1:08 How about 3d printed stand?
what about 3.5 2.5 storage
I was considering replacing my NR200, now I'm not. Thanks!
i dont know, if it had fans on the bottom as an intake it would probably be solid, but the price and temps of it now is a hard pass
i mean yea, that intel cpu can get very hot, but idk about an AMD RYZEN 5 5600
rly cool case!
Also who says one hundo P? xD
