    Best of luck! I'm always so jealous of how much you read in Japanese, and you're always inspiring me to try and pick up a Korean book 😄 Hopefully this is the year I finally start reading a lot more in Korean. My goal is to read at least 25 Korean books in 2025... we'll see how successful I am!

    Thank you for this excellent video as usual! You really are an inspiration when it comes to language learning. At the moment my goals are:
    - Chinese, which is my main goal. I want to pass HSK3 and start HSK4. Keep learning 10 new words a day, at least 30 minutes of active listening a day and the same for reading.
    - Second is Korean, I passed Topik 3 last year so if I can do 4 and start 5 this year that would be really great. But I can't devote much time to it each day (I'm finishing my PhD this year :o).
    - Last year I wanted to start incorporating a bit of Japanese into my routine but I didn't succeed, maybe this year I'll succeed? To be seen.
    I didn't go into any more detail about the goals but it's just an outline.
    Thanks very much! (I don't know if I should have written this in French or not haha)

      Your Chinese goals for active listening and reading are really inspiring - i need to up my exposure!! How are you learning your 10 new words each day, flashcards or a combination of things?

    • @quentin3331
      @quentin3331 15 днів тому

      @@Camilshka Yes, I try to be rigorous about it. As for vocabulary, I write and read. I take 1 hour a day for that, I look up a word in the hsk, write it down and try to make a sentence with it to learn it in context. And I read a lot, I think that helps. I can't manage to use Anki or flashcards so I've given up. I find it a bit boring.

    • @Camilshka
      @Camilshka 15 днів тому

      @quentin3331 I sympathise re flashcards, I use paper ones as I find them more usable than online, I make them pretty and then I am more likely to use them, but they are not a natural go to for me. I like the idea of sentences and context, and taking an hour a day is such a good discipline. I might try the sentences trick and see if it works for me, as I do struggle with vocab retention. I need to read more too, I have resources but need to focus on them more! Thanks for sharing, good to compare methods and get ideas :D

    • @quentin3331
      @quentin3331 14 днів тому

      @@Camilshka I should try making paper flashcards too. ! Maybe that would help. I don't know how you do it but personally I spread my learning out over the day. In the morning I read, at lunchtime I listen and in the evening I do the vocabulary. For me, it's better to do one small session at a time.

    Your goals for this year look amazing and I am excited to watch this years learning journey unfold.
    My general goals for this year are to stay consistent and commited to my language learning growth, I have a tendencey to start the year out strong and then fall complete off track this october then rinse and repeat the cycle. My plan for avoiding repeating this cycle again this year is to keep a language planner and smaller more achievable goals.
    My large scale language goals are to become fluent in atleast 3 languages apart from English (my native language). I have decided this year, I am going to priortize on only one langauge and I have chose Korean as its the language I am currently the most interested in learning.
    This will be my first year doing any actual study for Korean, so my first goal of the year is to master hangul. To do that at the moment I am using a skillshare class, as well as daily writing practice. I was agifted the Talk to me in Korean textbooks and workbooks for levels 1-5 so my goal for this year is to complete levels 1 and 2. I know as a person I always procastinate and skip over my listening immersion and speaking practices in any of my pervious attempts to study a language so those will be area I want to priortize not procastinating on this year. To do that my goal is to do a minimun of 1 italki lesson every 2 weeks to learn and pratice my pronuncation, as well as doing shadowing with the resources I am using for listening practice. I have decided to use a mix of resources for listening practice, some korean youtube videos on crochet, some easykorean videos on youtube, some k-dramas on netflix and I'd like to try and find a simple podcast. I love writing and journal so my plan is to learn how to write my daily journal affirmations in Korean.
    As for my reading goals, last year was a bad book year for me as I moved provinces and then started having health issues. Now that I am feeling a bit better and more like myself my reading goals for the year is to get back to reading regularly and to reintroduce it back into my daily routine. Id love to try an get atleast 1 frech book in this year as one of the only books I maaged to read last year was a graphic novel of Anna Green Gables in french and it was a joy to see how much I still remember after not studying for years and maybe try and start a book in korean but mostly just to put a dent in my tbr.

    I was looking forward to this video! For my goals this year, I'm going over N3 mock tests, I don't know if I will take the test but I want to go over grammar as it's always grammar has always been my weakness. I'm continuing online lessons to practise talking (I'm a Cafetalk user too!) to focus on my speaking along with shadowing. I want to finish my novel this year... I'm extremely slow as I'm checking up everything but I'm determine to complete it! I want to read more manga and also reread in particular 悪夢の棲む家 ゴーストハント , I love the ゴーストハント series but I remember 悪夢の棲む家 ゴーストハント was a challenge for me when I first got it so I want to see how much I can understand better now. I do enjoy rereading some books after a long time as I get so excited to find I can read more better! For me it's pure proof of improvement which makes me motivated! :)

    Hey Ally! Your videos truly are going to be my motivation this year for trying to stick to my language goals especially.
    My goals for this year for language learning are to take the Korean TOPIK test and get a TOPIK Level 3 to work towards my F2 long-term residency visa! That means studying with a tutor and preparing for the topik. I also just want to study korean more regularly, especially speaking, cause I usually don't like to stick to study plans and stuff even though it's important to me and it's something i want to do (I so wish i could be more like you in this regard!) I feel like i'm always too tired or lazy to achieve my own goals but i wanna do better this year! I also want to do more things like yoga to increase my flexibility and go to the gym more with my friends. Also I want to make a passive goal of losing more weight int he process of increasing my exercise and eat better. Lastly, I really want to improve my finances cause they are absolute shite right now lol and save up for a plane ticket to fly from Korea to the States for Christmas this year. I also want to read more books (i have read the first 4 books in ACOTAR and I need to finish reading the 5th book finally) as well as keep up with my friends back in the States more.
    Best of luck to us both!

    Your goals are looking great for this year! For me I have just a few core goals:
    One is to self-test and pass N5 for myself in Japanese. I have a book with one test that i will use as my actual test, and then a book with three mocks to use to practice (you helped inspire this self-testing option, thank you!). My schedule has me on track to do that in July, but we'll see how well I do at learning vocab!
    Second is to self-test and pass HSK2 in Chinese. I should be on schedule for this in March, and I need to buy some mock test books to use as practice and as my actual test.
    Third is to confirm some kind of minimum level for Norwegian, but because the official tests can only be taken in Norway and I can't travel there this year, and exact mock recreations don't exist (the exams change during the test, depending on your answers), I am planning on instead simply studying to a certain chapter in my book and then finding a way to confirm or test myself. I may aim for a Norwegian test next year, so simply get as far as I can before then.
    Good luck to all of us for our 2025 goals!! 加油!

    I have a few goals for reading : around 300 mangas, 12 books in spanish, 12 in italian, 12 in portuguese and 24 in english
    I wanna learn japanese and german up to A2 level next autumn but we'll see if I have the time to do so tbh 😂
    I wanna take adventage of june, july and august to focus on spanish, italian and portuguese, I have quite a good level of comprehension for each but I have to improve my speaking skills and start to stop mixing them up all the time so I'll try to do one language exchange a week in each language for this period.
    My main focus will be on Chinese and Slovak. For the latter I will reduce the lessons to two times a week, read the three books I own and try to watch 30 minutes 3 times a week a video. I will reduce the lessons to one time a week when I'll feel ready and focus with my teacher on academic, scientific and medical vocabulary. For Chinese I wanna read my five books, continue my conversation lessons untill the end of may, finish HSK5, and go through some resources I'm gonna buy, especially to learn vocabulary about sciences and medicine.
    I also wanna get at least B in all of my subjects at school, I'm quite ambitious, I don't know if I'm gonna be able to achieve everything but I'll try 😂

    Get to B1 in French, at the moment I am at A2. Read 6 french books about my work.
    Finish studying Chinese Hsk1v3, reading 4 books, mostly graded readers.

    Salut Ally, juste une question à propos du Kanken 5, vu que tu as passé le N1 et que tu lis tellement de livres en japonais, je me demandais pourquoi tu ne maitrises pas encore le niveau Kanken 5… C’est juste une question naïve, car je pensais que pour lire autant en japonais il fallait avoir un niveau kanken avancé, je ne m’y connais guère en Kanken mais ça doit être difficile si toi tu n’en es “que” au niveau 5 ! Merci d’être aussi inspirante, je m’accroche depuis 3 ans en japonais autodidacte et approche de la fin du N3 doucement…un peu aussi grâce à tes vidéos et conseils en tout genre, merci !

    • @arinoyume
      @arinoyume  14 днів тому

      Tu rigoles !!! Le niveau 5 c’est déjà hyper élevé, actuellement je pense même pas être au niveau 9/8 😆 le twist c’est que cet examen ne demande pas seulement de savoir lire et reconnaître les kanji sinon ce serait beaucoup trop simple en effet : il s’agit de savoir les écrire par coeur ET avec le bon ordre des traits donc je n’aurai même pas assez d’un an pour rattraper ce retard je pense car les japonais eux-mêmes prennent littéralement le temps de l’intégralité de leur parcours scolaire pour apprendre ça 😭😭😭😭😭

    • @alexandrasch139
      @alexandrasch139 14 днів тому

      @@arinoyume waouh! Ok je comprends mieux! Du coup, j’ai un peu creusé entre temps et j’ai vu que c était incroyablement difficile! On s’en rend bien compte quand on apprend que seulement 4/5 étrangers (sans aucune base de kanji comme les chinois par exemple) ont eu leur kanken niveau 1… en TOUT! Impressionnant! Bon courage pour ton objectif et merci pour la réponse ! 😊

    • @arinoyume
      @arinoyume  14 днів тому +1

      Exactement 😆😆 mais t’inquiètes pas je comprends totalement la question et je te remercie de l’avoir posée comme tu l’as fait - ça change des comportements passifs-agressifs et crois-moi ça fait du bien 🫠 du coup, pour préciser, je pense vraiment que j’aurai jamais la foi d’aller chercher le niveau 1, c’est vraiment pas nécessaire et il y a d’autres certificats plus utiles à préparer si vraiment je m’ennuie 😅
