I went through this process about 8 years ago when I left the UK and I think it's something most people would benefit doing at least once in their life. Very freeing and you truly understand the worth of possessions after. I've remained minimalist ever since :) Good luck!
I got a few mystery bags from you and am so happy to have some beautiful original artwork from you on the wall, and to share with my sister (the red squirrel was her favourite) and nephews (6 and 9) who are big fans of Ocean Bingo! Only one illustration didn’t have a label on it for us to know precisely what it was - the 9 year old is a nature whizz and figured out in seconds that it was a banded mongoose (google confirmed), he’s delighted to have that as a gift as it was his favourite, the 6 year old chose a snake painting. Everyone’s a winner! Good luck with your move!!
My husband and I are planning to full time RV as soon as our house is emptied. We started in February, and it’s July 20 and we have a ways to go. Sold a lot of items on FB MKT and some in yard sale and some to neighbors. It’s a daunting experience. It’s amazing the donations I made to charities, pots and pans and dishes and towels and appliances. I hope they are all put to good use. I love to cook so the kitchen was the hardest to sort and part with. Honestly still holding onto a couple of appliances I need to sell. But I am keeping the things I can, that I truly love, and everything that is gone, is not even missed, which amazed me. Now tackling a huge container of photos. I am scanning the ones I love and the rest will be thrown away. I cannot keep all these photos. I’m 71 and need to purge cards and photos and letters and this is tough. But I will prevail and keep and scan what I love and remember the rest. Onward marching. and looking to the future without all this “stuff” that somehow weighs you down. I feel,it’s like losing weight really. ❤Happy trails to all nomads and for all of those who are decluttering their lives. ❤
I’m so excited for you! My husband and I talk often about full time rv life, still debating about it. We can’t do it until his 94 year old mom passes away - that sounds so creepy! I’m going to continue getting rid of stuff tho. The smaller my inventory gets the more peaceful I become. I’m working hard to stop buying stuff. It’s amazing how hard it is. So many years of doing it without thinking. But now I know better and I’m doing better!!
It's really hard to stop buying isn't it! I see it as an ongoing challenge. I can understand you needing to stay around for you mother in law, dependants are really important to consider. x x x
Must have been emotional letting go of everything you’ve lived with for so long, but I really appreciate your reflections on waste and overconsumption. Congrats on the launch!
I think I'm more attached to spaces than things - so it'll probably be emotional to leave our house, where we changed together so much! But, onwards. Thanks Mexie x x x
Hope you have a really successful shop launch! I can’t wait to get my hands on something and I hope the downsize goes well and the boys are doing good! ❤️
I was only 2 minutes in and couldn't stop smiling. 😊I didn't knew you were downsizing that much, because you're still keeping the house. Living only with your personal true essentials is something I feel really drawn to and I'm working on that for quite a while now. Letting go isn't always easy but to me if feels really rewarding and soothing in a way. We'll sleep tomorrow in the van as well, only for one day but I'm so looking forward to all the upcoming adventures of you and me. ✨
I understand the overwhelming feeling of emptying a house. My uncle passed away last October and we as a family are still working on the task of emptying the house. It's been disheartening and a lot of hard work. Just. So. Much. Stuff.
Very sorry for your loss Colleen. 🤍 I had to experience this with my parents passing as well. My dad passed away in 2018 and my mom in 2019. I'm living minimalistic for several years now an even decluttered my homes before their passing from time to time. Especially when you're confronted with ALL the belongings of a loved one, who passed away you really get to see, feel sometimes even smell what impact stuff has on us. Sending lots of strength your way. 🌈
I moved three times over the last 2 years after having been stuck in one place for 10 years. It is crazy exhausting experience but also made me think A LOT what do we REALLY need to live normal life? I thought a lot while living this experience (and e.g. doing pretty well with just two suitcases for 4 months because I got stuck during pandemic). Good luck !
Just snagged one of the last small mystery packs, I'm so excited! your work has always felt so precious, can't wait to have some on my walls in the future. So happy for yours and Craig's new adventure. xx Mandy xx
I don't feel brave! (yet) I have kept a couple of really important paintings at my mums house, I'm lucky I can do that. Paintings are some of the things I most value I think
Hi Holly, I'm loving watching your videos on downsizing, I'm finding it so interesting and exciting. Could I ask where you had the best luck selling your furniture online? Good luck with your Etsy shop! x
I’ve been doing a bit of downsizing as well, and as stressful as the process is, it feels SO amazing to have less things. Also share your strong feelings about waste and consumerism. We can only do so much as individuals, while it’s not even on most wealthy people/businesses radars.
I love watching your videos! They're so calming and even though I'm at a very different chapter in my life, I love listening to how you're doing and what you're up to! 🤍🤍
I’ve been wanting to get a piece of your artwork for years and I’m so happy I managed to get some original artwork! I can’t wait to have your artwork on my studio gallery wall! 🥰
Doing the same here right now all in like one day today. Sheesh 😅 And yes, this made me realize I don’t want to own anything really. Big perspective shift.
I’ve done some mystery packs of illustrations in my own shop, like two years ago. It is a really fun experience. I feel so glad that you came back with the videos 🧡 wish all the best in this new path
Thanks Lais! The mystery bags were really fun to make, I'm slightly nervous about disappointing people if they don't get anything they like though haha! It's the lack of control, but I suppose it's also a fun surprise!
You sound like a weight has been lifted off your mind. There are plenty of people in the world who could feel guilty about using and abusing the planet but you are not one of them. Good luck on your next adventure.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Karol's Art Oasis: The planet has survived for eons and will continue to survive. It is arrogant of humans to believe they are SO important that they could literally destroy a resilient planet. It's both absurd and laughable.
@@qso3566 Maybe that is so and it probley is but it doesn't give us permission to abuse the planet either. Even if the planet survives and continues, maybe humanity will not be able to live on this planet if we continue to abuse the planet.

Sorry for your loss Leenie. I hope you reach the finish line on the house clear-out soon.

yesss for the new adventure, you are soo brave to let go many sentimental items in your house ( the plants, paintings, sofa... and many others)

Hi Lauren, we sold it all through eBay. Wasn't an easy task, I think it depends a lot on where you live whether you'll have successful selling!
@@hollyexley thank you so much for replying. I bet it wasn't! I'll give it a try x

So happy for you. I'm so annoyed to myself that I missed the shop launch and wasn't able to get my hands on the mystery bags. ❤️
Such a exciting future ahead… but your beautiful house have you decided to sell it or rent it out.?
Great to do it. I am due to move into my first owned home but plan to not fill it with crap. Simple mattress on floor and my work desk nothing more.
Doing the same here right now all in like one day today. Sheesh 😅 And yes, this made me realize I don’t want to own anything really. Big perspective shift.
Can I please dibs any of your frannerd items?
I don't have any frannerd items I'm afraid! I was a big fan of her daily journals but they have lots of my scribbles in them!
@@hollyexley ah, ok thank you for getting back to me much appreciated
Yay Craig in his funky pants!!

I love that I had to sit through an Amazon ad of shit nobody needs to watch this video.
