I think I'll do a Make 9. I will also have a couple of extra items though...one long-term, more time-consuming knit....a shawl...and I am planning a holiday sweater that will have a time-line through the year. The holiday sweater will be the Festive Doodle...I'll plan a swatch the first two weeks of January, the yoke before the first day of Spring, and so on 😊
Well you’re very smart to think ahead on that holiday sweater! I need to be sure and do that because there are a couple that I love and would absolutely wear all December long
So many super patterns and yarns. The tomato colour cardigan with the cables looks fab and all the stripes!! Am trying very hard only to buy yarn for a proje t that's happening so my yarn collection doesn't end up as big as my fabric one 😂 I often plan by season but not for the year!
I made a Weekender Crew this past fall with Sandness Garn Duo (the affordable cotton/wool DRK recommends) and I absolutely adore the sweater and wear it all the time, a lot more than my Weekender Light. That being said, I hate bottom up sweaters and doing all the shaping at the end, but I'm glad I pushed through. I don't plan more than a few projects ahead, as I try hard to have very little stash and use what I have before buying for a new project, but I do pick a pattern and then figure out the yarn.
Ok this makes me happy to hear. I agree, I'm not looking forward to making this one because it's not my preferred construction but I just know I will love it and wear it all the time! We have a big road trip to start the summer and this might be my car project. That way I can't get distracted and will actually make it!
I tried planning a make 9 but it quickly turned into a make 25 and I got stressed 🤣 But I think I will make a list of 6-9 projects that use yarn that has been in my stash for a while (more than 1.5 years). I want to always have one project on the needles with "older" yarn. Since I usually have at least 5 wips on the go that should be no problem.
Congrats!! I got into sewing when my twins were born. Everyone says 'sleep when the baby sleeps' but I always snuck in some sewing during nap time. It was a nice way to remember myself when all my other hours were about being their mom.
I get that! I am learning to find that balance between planning and also just making what I feel like. This year was better, I'm hoping these 9 sweaters that I already have yarn for kind of lay a framework but I don't feel like I have to make them. We'll see!
