If I had to choose an 'emergency' replacement for Greg Davies, I would look no further than Sally Phillips! Her series was one of my favorites of the 18 so far. She doesn't take herself that seriously, which is an asset, and some of the things that she thought up were so wonderfully bizarre, they have stuck with me ever since I saw them for the first time (Watercooler Moment, anyone???) That would be my choice if for some inexplicable reason they needed to replace the Taskmaster for a series!
As great as Liza was as a contestant i cant imagine the show would've been quite the smash it became without the Greg, Alex combo. Jo Brand might've made for a particularly ruthless Taskmaster tbh
I can't imagine what influences are pushing Alex in that direction but it's really sad to see. He has absolutely *nothing* to be embarrassed about. Not only did he create a fantastic show which people love, but he also put himself in the subordinate role and allowed Greg full freedom to have at it when making him the butt of the jokes. I can't imagine the show being the success it is without Greg and Alex being the hosts. I think Rose and Mike were fantastic as guests on the show, but I've yet to be convinced by their dynamic as Taskmaster and assistant, but then being hosts on a kids show ties their hands in ways they didn't have to worry about as guests on an adult show. It's tragic when talented people who have done nothing wrong are driven to feel guilty about their success, a thing they earned, and identity, a thing they had no choice in. It's also somewhat repulsive that box ticking played a part in Rose's selection as Junior Taskmaster rather than it being purely a matter of her talent. What a toxic and abusive state for society to be in.
@@peerprojectpodperhaps, but I'm not sure how else to interpret the words "two white men telling people what to do" and "embarrassing", if that's the part you're referring to. It's also hard not to interpret "much better situation" as an admission that some box ticking went into Rose's selection as Junior Taskmaster. To be clear, I'm not saying she was a bad choice, certainly not. I'm saying the box ticking it devalues her as an individual. Whether that's how he meant it or not, that is essentially the connotation it carries. Without Alex the show simply wouldn't exist, and without Greg as the Taskmaster I highly doubt it'd be the success it has been. Without the show's existence and success none of the other people now involved would have had the opportunities the show has presented. It is absurd to even consider race or gender as an issue, or for that matter wealth, because they're not doing anything that has any relation or relevance race, gender, or social inequality.
@ I think, and this is just me personally speaking that as the world changes. We sometimes look back at the decisions we made with regret. Maybe he’s saying that of this was launching in 2024 he’d make different decisions
@@peerprojectpod and that is tragic. People should only be embarrassed by the bad things they've done. There is absolutely no reason to make a different decision in 2024 than he did back then other than to appease divisive trends. History shows time and again that such trends are bad for society and humanity. When tides eventually shift, as they always do, what then? He feels embarrassed again for decisions made in 2024? That isn't a healthy way to live, and it certainly does society no good.

Oh Sally Phillips is an excellent shout

@@OMGSAMCOPSEY Jo Brand would crush people's souls like she's casually picking lint out of boredom. Not sure who'd pair well as her assistant though.
Ruthless is the word. Tune in every Thursday to watch celebrities cry
Richard Ayoade purely because his distain for humanity would make a great taskmaster.
This is an excellent idea

I don’t think that’s what he meant to come across like

Thank heavens DEI didn't influence the choice of Alex and Greg on Taskmaster! The contestants are a wonderful representation of all sorts.
Couldn’t agree more. I do wish I had said that in response.
