Qualitywise I'm disappointed with CL9 quality compared to older ones I had (still better than any UK made) 150k km on the clock and I'm already looking CV axels, engine supports, worn clutch pressure plate, power steering pump, control arm/stabilizer bushings, wheel bearings and timing chain is also stretched. Easy things to diy but some parts are very expensive. Compared my old Accord started having these problems around 350t km and BB6 prelude around 250t km I can't say I am happy with my Honda anymore.

They were large enough but not too big (like a Euro Accord)
They were lighter than the newer heavier models
They were 2.2 (H22 twin cam Vtec) not 2.4 so economical but not under powered
They had the best connectivity as a driver (no electric steering)
They had the sharp hood for better vision and aero.

I've just bought a 2005 Accord Euro Luxury with the 6sp manual here in Australia. For what I paid, it is a great car. Just under 200bhp (147kW) from the K24 engine, the gears are a nice set of ratios, and the shift is short, and has that nice Honda 'snick'. And add the luxury features - full leather, sunroof, climate dual aircon, cruise and a decent OEM stereo, and then throw in the 17in 10-spoke Honda OEM wheels, and it's a lot of car for the money. The first tank of fuel, it surprised by by using a full litre less per 100km than the 19 yr old 1.6l Golf it replaced! This is our second Honda - we have a 3l Odyssey in the shed, which I'm about to put back on the road. I think I've just become a 47 yr old Honda Fanboy...no more VAG!

Allow me to educate you all.
I own a Honda Accord Type R. The type R was based off the European Accord, and was built and designed by Honda UK and not Honda Europe (they are different devisions). They created the car in 1998.
In 2000, Honda Japan realized there was a market for a performance saloon. So, they worked with Honda UK and used 95% of the same parts as the Type R. As a sign of respect, Honda Japan called it the Euro R, basically in honor of the European Type R.
While they are similar, the Type R is the preferred performance vehicle. It is lighter than the Euro R as it has no sound deadening, no sunroof or electric windows etc. The Type R also has a little more power and a more aggressive LSD with shorter ratios.
In short, the Type R was more of a raw typical Type R performance vehicle.
The Euro R is still a quick car, but more of a daily with softer suspensions etc.
Feel free to check out videos of my Type R :)

*> While they are similar, the Type R is the preferred performance vehicle. It is lighter than the Euro R as it has no sound deadening, no sunroof or electric windows etc. The Type R also has a little more power and a more aggressive LSD with shorter ratios*
I call bullshit on that. Type-R weighs 1348 kilos, Euro-R is 1330 kilos. Euro-R had never had sunroof, and the little sound deadening that it has doesn't really amount to much additional weight. Type-R H22A7 makes 209bhp, Euro-R H22A makes 217bhp. Dunno about the Type-R gearbox, but gear ratios on Euro-R T2W4 gearbox are pretty damn short, and they're perfect for track use. Accord SiR-T gearbox T2T4 was a bit long and some gear ratios were mismatched for track driving, but the Euro-R ratios are just the sweet spot you'd want from a sports car. Overall, the Euro-R is better in every aspect than its european counterpart Type-R. That's why statements like these:
*> It was dubbed the euro r instead of type r because ( if i got this right) was because it wasn't good enough to be called the type r*
...are factually incorrect. The Type-R is inferior to Euro-R, but it's still called Type-R. The Euro-R name may be a tribute to the european Type-R, but it wasn't called that way to show its inferiority to the "true Type-R".
P.S. while doing some research i found some confusing info on the Type-R's curb weight. Most sources state that it's 1348 kilos, but i also found numbers like 1405 kilos and 1232 kilos. If it's the latter one, then i can understand how the Euro-R may be inferior to the Type-R. Can someone give me a clarification on that?

The worst part is that even though I'm in Canada but unfortunately i live in the sh##ty province of quebec which has the same 25 year import laws on rhd cars just like you guys in the states
If you're a car guy this province is the worst place to be our roads are riddeld with huge pot holes careless drivers all over the place gas is another thing it's too expensive I have a subaru impreza rs 2.5 which has a jdm wrx 2.0 turbo engine I have to fill up 94 octane It costs 1.64$ a liter not a gallon so it costs me about 90$ to fill up the tank

There's also the UK spec sold in Europe too CH1 which is the same car different styling. Matter of taste which is preferred but yes in the beginning you mentioned the best Accords produced. The CL7 Euro R which produced 220bhp and was JDM only and had the K20a engine. A real beast of a saloon. UK and Europe never received it, that's Honda marketing for you.🤔

The Uk spec Accord Type R Ch1 is one of the best looking Hondas. Standard speed line alloys and the huge wing on the back. The biggest Down fall tho is the 5 speed gearbox. It really needed a 6th ( Accord Type R uk spec as with the CL1) On the other hand the CL7 euro R with the Mugen spoiler and lowered springs looks even meaner. There are very few saloons that can handle and ride like the Accord R’s. Either way I wouldn’t say no to all three cars 🇯🇵🇯🇵👍🏻.

  • @jermainemorgan8274

Cl1 Euro R is a good car but the BEST generation of the Honda Accord Euro R is the Cl7... Best shape, power drive train. Now the next generation of Honda accord Euro R in the CU2 Is fading away from being a high performance and semi sporty to just luxury... So for me the Cl7 is the last Euro R right now.
