I think it's super important to keep the classic stuff like this alive! It's humbling to see how much technology has advanced! And yet, how reliable these trains are, despite being older! So awesome!
I had no idea about coach number 5. Going to have to remember this when we go there. We have never been. Nice shot of what the car looked like in the 1800's.
Coach 5 only gets used on very rare occasions nowadays. Heritage Weekend is when the general public can see it operate and ride in it. About the only other time it currently gets used is for the ET&WNC Railroad Historical Society's annual convention and the associated photo special that gets held for the society. Used to be Coach 5 was the car that brought up the rear of the regular Wild West Train, but to save on wear and tear and because it's not all that easy to see the show outta Coach 5's windows, the coach got retired from regular Wild West train usage and simply used for the events it is used for nowadays. It also doesn't help Coach 5's case that it has Janney style knuckle couplers instead of your more bog standard knuckle coupler. The difference between a Janney style and a standard knuckle is much better explained in this video here at about the 5:15 mark: ua-cam.com/video/IEX6_GRk6sU/v-deo.html Long story short is that Janney couplers are tricky to work with compared to your standard knuckle coupler, so that's yet another reason Coach 5 isn't used as much anymore.
Tweetsie has several special events throughout the year, with Heritage Weekend being one of them. They pretty much always bring out Coach 5 during Heritage Weekend as well as both of their steam engines. It’s usually toward the end of August. If you want to see Coach 5 that would be the weekend to visit Tweetsie 😊 Thanks for watching!

Definitely cool to see a more “old fashioned” theme park still in action.
I really enjoy historic days out like this
This is amazing! I really enjoyed seeing the different views and loved the inside of the train!
I bet the smell of the train is quite nice, probably rustic! I like that the cost is more like a donation. Very nice ride!
