  • Generating suitable chip forms and sizes and evacuating them is vital for the success of any drilling operation. Unsatisfactory performance in this area can affect process security, tool life and hole quality. This film provides tips on chip control when using solid carbide drills or exchangeable-tip drills.

Im glad to see you guys uploading actually helpful videos rather than just obvious sales pitches. It is a much smarter way to build branding.

I'm not a machinist. I don't run CNCs. I don't even have a usable mill for fun. And yet... I'm still here enraptured by chip quality.

2:35 is the surface pattern of the chip caused by the parting tool itself or where does this come from?

      Hello Yogesh
It is hard to provide a good general answer to your question, since chip forming are affected by many factors we don't know about. But as a general rule for titanium chips, the faster you go, and the higher the feed, the better the chips. But since you have no coolant loads of heat will be generated, so as a start I would recommend to increase the feed per revolution. But beware, hole making without coolant will generate a lot of heat, and tool life will likely be very short.

    Hi there,
I have difficulties in interpreting chips formation when drilling Titanium 6246 using TiAlN coated carbine insert.
    a. At firts stage, with or without coolant, the chips are like what you have explained
    b. When it went deeper, the chips of outer section tend to wavy.
    c. the chips thickness are vary in the same applied parameters (or in the same drilling)
What may the cause of the b and c?
    Thank you

+Mahros Darsin Out of balance or misaligned cutters will cause chips with erratic thickness, and either slow feed rate or dull cutting faces will cause wavy chips. There may be others, but those are the ones I am personally most familiar with.

Thanks for clarifying, that drilling with broken tip may cause machine broke down. As a person looking for some "tips" from you I would never come up with this idea.

1:29 I wonder how many takes it took to get that pronounced the right way ... As a non-native English speaker, try this one : she sells sea shells at the sea shore.

    At ua-cam.com/video/re1nVUy5Www/v-deo.html
Aaron says to increase cutting speed, can i achieve this by lowering the feed instead?

      Hi,
No. Typically a lower feed rate would result in a longer pig tail style chip.

Все отлично, но ничего нового. Я занимаюсь обработкой материалов резанием с 1990-го года. У меня не было такого замечательного инструмента,как Sandvik Coromant, но принципы работы были точно такими.
