Well, that was a very pleasant surprise. One of my special favs from when I was a teenager - and quite amazing to hear such a flawless and faithful to the original performance after 35 years. Most artists can't do that.
Yay! Glad there's some quality Blondel live footage on here at last. Sounds fantastic, if this was sound only it could've been from the early 70s. One of the best bands of all time, in any genre. RIP their hair, though!
The only things different between 1972 and 2004 is a little slower tempo and a little less hair. I love to see musicians and vocalists stay true to their roots! Superb!! Many thanks.
In my teens I came across these guys and could never convince any of my friends of their talent. I still listen to them decades later. And my friends really don't listen to Emerson Lake & Palmer much anymore.
After day exploring the coast of The Fylde & Morcambe Bay this is about as perfect as it gets! Always one of my favourites, but this is damn near perfect...
I saw these guys in the early seventies at the Festival Hall supporting Steeleye Span... we watch Blondel's set and then went to the bar.. My English teacher (Ian Mellor) was an old school friend of the band and he turned me on to them.. They played all sorts of old instruments Serpent, Crumhorn etc... and they, as I, had more hair back then... great memories... thanks for posting..
We all live our personal lives like we are and finally die. What remains forever and far over our lives and death ...are the moments of peace and tranquility with a beloved...
My goto playlist for end of the day (or "sleepytime" music as my husband calls it) is all Amazing Blondel, songs that range from the 1970's to the new century. They are not only musically alluring so I can immerse myself in the graceful harmonies and instrumentation but also hopeful, positive and bucolic. Blondel brings back my youth with their songs, and that is Amazing.
Still an amazing (what a pun) song,I have both the England album & Mulgrave St.I have had them for years.Great to hear them sounding as good as ever.If you like this, listen to early Martyn Wyndham Read.
How many people were in the audience for this performance? It doesn't sound like very many. Too bad; these guys deserve a much wider audience. Have they ever considered putting out a new live album?
The venue was part of a festival in Norway and held about a hundred people I would estimate. It was sold out but the audience were very polite! 😀 They always played to sold out audiences but their style of music worked better in intimate venues. The last live album produced was Dead: Live in Transylvania in 2010 and there are no plans for any more.
If you have a cd burner yourself its easy to get it yourself. I had no idea it was so hard to get, just searched for it, a few sold them used for 140$! Almost worth it tbh :)
A wonderful peiece of art. A great gift for all the lovers of the band.
These guys represent a great solution to Rock conundrum
Marvellous trio of voices, instruments and souls. Absolutely great group.
What a fantastic song this is, exactly the same as recorded on the England album. Awesome, awesome!
Amazing Blondel were probably one of the best, if not the best, British all-acoustic folk band that ever existed.
amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This performance is simply a moment of perfection sent out to the world.
Still great so many years on…
Makes me fill up😢 wonderful song
An amazing waltz, a masterpiece perfectly made end then...what a magnificent voices!

this is so peaceful, positive, and soothing to my soul. we need more of this vibration in our beautiful world!

"England"... easily one of the top ten favorites of my collection of 1000+ CDs.
It's great to see video of them playing live; they sound terrific!

This was one of the first albums I ever bought... loved it, and still love their music!
In my teens I came across these guys and could never convince any of my friends of their talent. I still listen to them decades later. And my friends really don't listen to Emerson Lake & Palmer much anymore.
I love their harmonies and comforting sound!

Remember the band from my days at Maria Grey College of Education in 1970/71. I did the lighting!
I could not think of a better vibe of medieval tranquility...to end my working day with.
Good night then.

They played the cellar club in Sth Shields 40 odd year ago ! I helped them lug an organ on to their van .They then ran me home ! Fond memories !

Fantastic to hear you again after first following your band during the Eventide days
If anything, even better than the version on 'England' and a really nice clear sound.
