The award for the best documentaries on UA-cam, goes to Mr. Jerry Skinner. Another masterpiece video Mr. Skinner. Well done sir. As for John Ford, I've seen all of his John Wayne movies. They were all good too.
I often wonder just exactly how many people traveled to see monument valley just because of John Ford's films. I know that there must have been many of them and my dad was one of them. We ended up relocating to Arizona after visiting there. I remember thinking on the way that there was no way it could look as beautiful as it did in the film's. I learned it didn't. It looked better than it did in the films. Thank you Mr. Skinner for this fine tribute to a director, the likes of which we probably will never see again.
Mr Skinner, you have the knack of depicting your subjects, warts and all with sensitivity. Although John (Marion) Wayne is not without controversy, you certainly showed the value of loyalty and true friendship with his association with John Ford.
@@JerrySkinner1943 Thank you ❤️ and for all you do so well.Bringing back lovely memories in a changing world 🌎 I lost my husband a police officer for 33 years and I write stories to remind us all of times past in San Pedro my home town.
STAGECOACH is one of my favorite movies of all time. Great story, amazing cast of actors, action, a perfect movie. The movie that made John Wayne a star.
I can see why 1.4K persons liked this video. It is the best of your documentaries that I've seen on UA-cam giving insight into one of Hollywood's greatest directors. Only William Wyler and perhaps Howard Hawks can be compared with John Ford. He made so many great films it would be hard to narrow them down into a Top 10 List.
Mr Skinner this is a top notch Video. Love your Work❤️🇺🇸. Ford was Absolutely a amazing Man and Talent that gave much to His Country. Gone are the Days of true Patriot no nonsense Actors with real talent.
A great tribute to one of the most talented, most prolific, most decorated and most appreciated directors in the movie industry. This is a "masterpiece" documentary. It is one of the greatest I've ever seen on UA-cam or otherwise. Thank you Jerry Skinner.
John Ford was great. He knew how to pick his movies and his actors. Have never seen a John Ford movie I didn't like. Great documentary Jerry. Keep them coming.
Jerry, that was a terrific tribute to a hard arse director who knew how to make movies. I believe that without him there would have been no John Wayne or Ward Bond. Not to mention the other fine actors in his group. There can never be another director like Ford as at his time the movie industry was still forming itself and that those times were a simpler times for them all. John Wayne once said he owed everything to Pappy, but I believe it was a two way street. I look forward to your next video Mate.
You are right Robert but without John Wayne, characters like ward bond, and his stock company actors, well, he defi itely needed them all, contributing to his success!
Having grown up with Ward Bond on WAGON TRAIN, I was surprised that he had such a long apprenticeship. I dimly remember that Bond worked for other directors as a 'leading man.'
As a huge John Wayne fan Ford has always been a most interesting character,This was an excellent documentary, you out did your self this time Jerry...👍👍
I saw a tribute show about him on network tv in the seventies. He was honored by several stars including Jimmy Stewart. I don't know if John Wayne was there or not. I can't remember.
Yep, you just made a masterpiece of your own, Mr. Skinner. One can't help but to hang on to every word you say. Almost have seen all of Ford's movies and just watched "Donavon's Reef" the other night. Saw it last when I came out. Again, thanks for your time, Lee

As always, Mr. Skinner, a very well done biography. John Ford, definitely stands as the icon of an era. His personality, sins exactly like my grandfather; hard-nosed, demanding, decorated WW2 veteran, care-taking, duty-bound, cruel, and prickly. But I loved and respected him, anyway. There are many of Fords films here, that I've seen, but many I haven't. I plan to binge watch next weekend.
Can't thank you enough for this brilliant presentation. Love so many of these truly classic films. For any flaws he may have had...he was a genius. Almost all are giants are. Thanks again for all your hard work.
Wonderful documentary! Thank you again Jerry! The finest education any aspiring director could get would be to watch all of John Ford's films, multiple times, and carefully analyze each scene. Before making "Citizen Kane" Orson Welles watched "Stagecoach" 39 times! Before making any new movie, Steven Spielberg says he always watches "The Searchers" again, and sometimes with multiple viewings. The way Ford can have a scene tell a story, without a word being spoken, is an absolute masterclass in movie making. There have been quite a few GREAT directors, but John Ford is in a class ALL by himself. He is truly a "Director's Director".
Mr Skinner.... Another fantastic video. Only you can make a video with great research and information. The aspect of John Ford giving information to the Navy regarding the Japanese prior to Pearl Harbor is amazing. John Ford might have been a person with a nasty personality but he was an innovative producer. Thank you for introducing us to this superb person.
Everything starts somewhere and either improves and becomes unrecognizable or it wilts away and is never experienced. Your historical accounts of Hollywood is so educational and fun, and the comparison of before and after Hollywood's birth fascinating.
Well, Mr. Skinner, this video is so beautifully done. Being a big John Ford fan, I loved this! Thank you for putting in the time and effort that you do to make amazing content!! I will definitely be watching this again!!! 🌼
