Original Movie: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Розваги
Koba may be one of my all time favourite movie antagonists - you completely get where he is coming from, even while disagreeing with him. One thing that really struck me on first watch was seeing Maurice get hurt and realising how much the movie had made me care about the apes as much as the humans
If I were an ape, I'd totally support Koba.
Caesar is far too forgiving and causes the deaths of many
@@the98themperoroftheholybri33Except Koba took his hate out on the humans who had nothing to do with his suffering. Any sympathy I had for Koba got snuffed out when he tried to kill Caesar and started a war with the human race.
@@dwnkaomwn3953the idea for Koba is that No Human is redeemable, the same way tons of humans still treated him and other apes despite them being in more power positions.
@@the98themperoroftheholybri33 Koba's first charge at the settlement killed more apes than Caesar did. Which started a war that nearly killed all of them. But yeah it's not like most of the chimps have a solid grasp of the horrors or consequences of war.
And he looks damn badass
Chimpanzee with a machine gun is like Slipping Jimmy with a law degree
APE DEFECATE THROUGH SUNROOF!
can't tolerate this chimpanery
@@MiketheratguyMultimedia Better Call Simian is my favourite ape crime show
Isn’t that a better call Saul quote?
@@lewa3910 You like it more than Breaking Baboon?
The main difference between Koba and Cesar is that Koba isnt a chimp, he is a bonobo, and usually bonobos are more peaceful than chimps, it is known that they resolve conflicts by f*cking, and im not even making that up
So making a bonobo the main villain is way more interesting and it shows how angry Koba really is
Bonobos are in the same genus as chimpanzee, & were thought to be a subspecies for a long time due to being able to interbreed with other chimps. But interestingly, while humans have a close genetic similarity to chimps, we have slightly more DNA in common with bonobos, indicating that as a species, they are somewhat older than chimpanzees, and may share a closer link to a precusor species that began to split into early hominds like australopithecines. So if you look at it that way, bonobos arent a subspecies a chimps, chimps are actually a subspecies of bonobo
Actually there was a recent study that saw that male bonobos do tend to be aggressive even more so than chimps but I’ve not read it in depth
This also implies that Koba was so angry with humans he went against his nature, while Caesar at the same time went against a chimps more natural tendency of violence to maintain peace.
The main villain in the new one is a bonobo too 😅
"ayo bro"
"what"
"fuck you"
"yeah sure lets go"
Interesting fact about this movie, Koba is actually the most human like ape, even more so than Caesar. He can speak the human language more fluently, he’s the first ape to use a man made weapon, and he’s shown that he’s more than willing to kill his own kind to grab power.
Andy Serkis is a Legend...he's precious.
He is OUR precious 😂
I like at the beginning of the video when she assumes the apes would be too intelligent to go to war, but whenever there is intelligence there is always capacity for organization and violence
Funny you brought up Plague Inc, they actually added the Simian Flu to it to promote this film. You could even use the game to purchase cinema tickets for it I think.
It also has the best theme in the game other than "plague blossom."
It's kind of reversed. Plague Inc. was actually inspired by Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Then the developer got the license for the Simian Flu since the game took of so badly.
Nuclear energy is run by "small" rods of nuclear material that heats water as it decays. That heating is what allows us to create energy from those rods. At some point, they have decayed to the point that they no longer create that level of energy, but they still create lethal amounts of radiation, locally, to humans and other life. You can easily run out of nuclear energy because the rods run out of energy. It's all a matter of time. There's whole underground places full of nuclear material of depleted nuclear usage. Hopefully that makes sense. I am really drunk right now, and really really had to focus to type it. lol
Thank you for letting us know this vital information.
It felt like you were under-estimating how smart the apes actually were.
Finally! This is my favorite movie of this trilogy
11:20 Why is so hard for you to believe that Nuclear energy would run out if nuclear power plants stopped working/stopped being operated to run? It still needs to be generated, like what?!
This movie is so gorgeous. Matt Reeves took this in such an amazing direction. Both starting and ending on Caesar's eyes makes it all come full circle. Next film is just as good IMO, also the original from the 60's is an absolute classic and worth a watch!
Very true.
"Caesar love human...more than ape...more than your sons"
So you've chosen pain.
"Koba fight for Koba. Koba belong in cage."
@@eltonr.depaula4276 yeah and Caesar is haunted by Koba in war of the apes because he knows Koba was right
One of my favorite action movies.
Koba is my favorite villain.
Caesar was amazing in this movie.
lmao, 12 minutes into this video she's completely misjudged the apes' intentions like 3 times
“Caesar weak” “Koba weaker” is such a great moment in this franchise. Caesar just makes a simple statement, nothing clever or Hollywood about and you think “Oh damn Koba is about to get his ass kicked”
*28:06*
*It is presumed that James Franco & Freida Pinto's characters died from the virus.*
Wouldn't be surprised if Will (James Franco) offed himself when the virus started spreading.
@@scrrinthat is a more plausible theory than will dying of the virus
@@scrrinI can’t even imagine the guilt.
They actually did add the Simian Flu to Plague Inc as a tie-in with this movie lol
Love this movie franchise. These movies have incredibley realistic CGI effects, aswell as substance because they (don't) sacrifice good writing and character development for flashy CGI effects. The CGI complements the story without over powering it.
It's a seamless blend.
I also really recommend checking out the original Planet of the Apes film from 1968.
At least. All 5 originals even off camera are a trip. Strange but lovely sci-fi for the times.
Problem is everyone already knows it’s Earth in the film now
Good idea.
About an Orangutan riding a horse, I just found this out. Orangutan’s don’t weight all that much. According to PBS, Male Orangutans average around 191 pounds.
thats pretty cheap
@@duncanmagee Waddya mean cheap?
@@JackAndPpounds like £
@@JackAndP less than 200 quid for a monkey is a bargain mate
That’s a pretty heavy estimate. Of course, there are variations among populations, but an average male orang is more like 165 lbs, and females about half that.
Yes! I swear I'm Bouncing off the walls, with how much I'm hyped for the apes series overall 🤲🏾🛐🙉🐒
Mi película favorita de la saga, y me encanto tu opinión y crítica. También adoro a Cesar, por qué es un jefe muy formidable que va aprendiendo y mejorando en cada película 🩷🙉👏🙌
Ape….not kill….ape….
that hurt my heart.. 😢so much respect to Caesar.. ❤

Hey, a primatologist here 🙋🏻♂️
If you could add the two comments I left here in the comments section and sticky them I would appreciate it, especially my PSA comment on why primates shouldn’t be pets, I would very much appreciate it. Great reaction, and thank you 🙏
Apes Together Strong
😎🐵🦧🦍🐒
I don't know how many here have seen the original Apes films but the concept of apes not killing other apes was a MAJOR plot point. The modern series does an excellent job of recalling certain beats and themes from the originals and working them in in ways that are different but still relevant.
Fun fact about the character Malcolm since we never see him again after this film, he was killed off screen in the third film for trying to convince the main antagonist that the apes are not their enemies. The director confirmed this after the third film was released.
Agree the only thing idk is what happened to the lady, son and the black guy
@@TakakiM-sr1df that is still unanswered sadly, I’d assume they were killed.
@@frankvaldes9451 agree
About Plague Inc., they actually put the Siman Flu from the movie in the game as DLC.
This was such an amazing trilogy. I'd say that Dawn was the best one. It's that beautiful mid-point between things working out and things going to hell. And seeing it in the theater was amazing. Watching an ape dual-wield machine guns while screaming and riding a horse through flames was something I didn't expect to ever see in my life.
Let’s go! These next 2 are both incredible! New movie next week too! We’re thriving! 😂
You will LOVE the next one. Also can't wait for you to see the originals.
22:41 That's because it is all happening. Everything here, besides the CG apes, were all real. They actually used a real tank with real explosions for this sequence
"Love them more than expected". I feel the same about all three. "Like" is what I thought would happen. And being thoroughly impressed is thing number one that stands out about this series.
I feel bad for Koba in a way because the reason he was a villain was because of the A hole from the first movie who would torture him and the other apes with that electric staff thing idk what it’s called
An analogy similar to this could be a nerd being bullied by a bully constantly thus the nerd being fed up with enough of it to the point where he wants revenge on the bully but now he’s a villain for what he had to endure in the past
The lesson here is villains are created it’s based on the experiences of your life
The Media reports in the beginning drawing parallels to Covid is so interesting. The movie predates covid by a longshot. And there are so many movies about the spread of Zoonosises, that you'd think that people would have acted more responsible, when Covid came and it became real.
The opening to this and Infinity War had my jaw dropped
Please consider the original 1968 Planet of the Apes 🙏
and the sequels
It's funny you mention Plague Inc., since that game actually had a cross-over tie in with this movie as part of a promotion for both.
Plague Inc. actually added the simian flu as a plague choice when this movie came out!!! I still go back and play it on occasion
The game you mentioned Plague Inc.? It did actually feature the "Simian Flu" from this film in both the mobile and PC version which was actually cool, especially with how similar the intro looked to the game's transportation of the disease
I love this trilogy.
2:05 Funny you should say that, Plague Inc actually did a collaboration with this movie where you spread the Simian Flu
Orangutan males can weigh up to 165 pounds. Depending on breed and weight, a horse can carry that. Apparently the heaviest horses could carry a little over 400. So even carrying a gorilla is possible. The apes’ horses may have been getting stronger too.
Sadly, Will (Franco) and his gf did die between films of the virus.
You know it’s not just CGI, right? Not that it shouldn’t be praised, but there’s actors under that, it’s motion capture, that’s a big reason why the expressions are so good. Like Gollum in Lord of the Rings. Hey! Another Andy Serkis role!
Insta click, I have been waiting for this reaction!!!
Toby Kebbell as koba honestly did a amazing job, I remember watching it in my local odeon cinema and found him 1 scary 2 scary. Honestly toby did a amazing job
and he's acting toe to toe with andy serkis...
Fun fact:Koba was Iosef Stalin’s nickname when he was a kid.
imagine if apes evolve enough they have to work 9-to-5 jobs
I feel like you have to understand Koba though. Grudges and vengeance despite being wrong are addictive. He was tortured. Made into a lab ape. I would understand how much anger is in his heart. He wants vengeance. He wants humans to bleed for what they did . It’s an antiquated idea for us now but it’s basically eye for an eye. Lex talionis.
I always wince when I hear Ceaser say, "Koba not ape." Iy yi yi... such a slippery slope.
i suggest you should watch contagion from 2011 its a movie, that if the first seconds of the spread of the virus in this movie make you felt something so familiar... well contagion will feel a lot more, that was a great movie too!.
Of the PoA films I've seen this is my favorite, followed shortly after by the original 1968 movie (highly recommend doing a reaction to it after you've finished this trilogy). Three is War For The Planet of the Apes but its genuinely a fantastic movie/ending to the trilogy. Rise rounds things out (again good movie I just have seen it the least of the others)
Other than those 4 (1968 and this trilogy), only other thing worth watching that is POA related is The Simpson's musical parody. It's HILARIOUS/AMAZING
I agree, this movie was intense. I remember way back in 2001, Tim Burton directed Planet of the Apes starting Mark Wahlberg. It was decent for its time. Tim Roth did a great job as the main villain
My main problem with this one is it went so far off the established lore.
IF there hadn't been the original series of movies it would have been unique and bizarre. But, I can't help putting it against the original series. Then it just becomes, what were they thinking
@@tomyoung9049The originals were shit besides the first 😂
I love these movies. And love what they did with Caesar and the way Andy Serkis brought him to life. He is one of my all-time favorite fictional characters. Even though there is a Caesar in the original Planet of the Apes films, there are differences between the two Caesars, but I love them both. The late Roddy McDowell was great as Caesar. Makes me want to watch my boxed set of the original films. I grew up watching them on TV as a little boy in the 1970's. I was born three years after the original 1968 film came out. I cannot wait to see your reaction to the next film.
Primatologist here 🙋🏻♂️
For those interested, just some key points I want to address as far as accuracy of the apes and their behaviors, social dynamics, etc. I’ve listed an outline of the major points I’m going to discuss. I could go scene by scene, but the points below are the most important.
Any further questions, hit reply to THIS comment. This will keep it easier to read and more organized. Thank you
Points of discussion:
Hunting
“Royal family” inaccuracy
Fission-fusion society / How politics work
Why Caesar has to fight Koba
Hunting -
When chimpanzees hunt they have 4 roles. Drivers - who kinda drive or herd their prey whichever direction the hunt requires. Blockers - who remain on forest floor and will block the prey from escaping downward towards the forest floor, they will also steer any escaping prey back towards the rest of the group. Chasers - these are the ones that keep pace with the hunting party and when the time is right will race forth and commit the kill. Ambushers - these guys hide along the hunting/chase route and will commit a kill when the opportunity presents itself.
The drivers and blockers don’t attack, their job is to merely push their prey into position - chasers and the ambushers are the ones who actually commit the kill. The spoils of the hunt will be shared with all who participated in the hunt as well as with any chimpanzees in the immediate vicinity, including those who were merely bystanders. Chimpanzees in real life hunt exactly as you see in the opening scene of the movie.
“Royal family” inaccuracy -
The depiction of Caesar with is wife and newborn as being a “royal family” of sorts while important to the story, is actually inaccurate. It’s a nice touch but in reality chimpanzees and most other species of primates are “promiscuous” with both males and females taking multiple mates. This helps guarantee reproductive success as well as genetic diversity, though there are also social and political factors that can sometimes come into play.
Fission-fussion society / How politics work
Chimpanzees are a fission-fusion society, meaning they split up into multiple smaller subgroups during and throughout the day, then rejoin as one unitary group to nest for the night. So the male chimps going off to hunt while the nursery group stays behind then the males returning with their kill is accurate. During the day they will also separate into smaller subgroups or even individual pairs to forage, socialize in more private exclusive company, form social bonds or alliances and coalitions. Having Ash and Blue Eyes go off together to find an alternative food diversity (ie fishing), that too is an accurate behavior, as is when Koba and a few of his buddies go to investigate the humans prepping for war, and when he is sitting alone with Blue Eyes and tries to manipulate him into not trusting Caesar’s judgement. All of these are realistic behaviors.
As they’re a fission-fusion society, when they separate into smaller subgroups, different cliques form and will sometimes ally with other cliques to form their own coalition. They will support each other during fights, forage together, share food, groom each other, their juveniles will only play with other juveniles of the same coalition, and finally coalition members will rest together. The alpha male, and even some of the upper ranked, as a way to maintain their positions they will curry favor, foster cooperation between them, incite discord between the coalitions, and even pit them against each other. They will maintain this “Divide and Rule” dynamic so as by keeping the different cliques/factions and coalitions in a constant state of rivalry it ensures they cannot unite and rise up against and challenge the alpha.
Being alpha is not about being a bully, it’s about keeping the troop happy whilst also maintain order. Some will do this benevolently and fairly, others will do this strictly and aggressively. Just like human politics - you have strong fair leaders and then you have dictators and then sometimes leaders that are in the middle. Primate troop dynamics are very similar to human dynamics.
For more on this see Frans DeWaal’s presentations on TedTalk
Why Caesar has to fight Koba -
Alphas are determined by dominance, strength, physical size and build, and social relationships. The most determinate factor of these is strength. Without strength, the alpha can’t enforce hierarchy, can’t settle disputes, can’t deter challengers or rivals, etc. It’s not enough that an alpha is popular or well liked, that he has a good social relationships and allies, these are all good things for an alpha to have of course but at the end of the day, it’s still “strength rules”.
This is why Caesar has to fight Koba in order to regain his status as alpha. Even if Caesar reveals to the entire troop how Koba manipulated sowed discord and staged the assassination attempt on him and staged the attack on the apes home - it still wouldn’t matter. It may make Koba unpopular and maybe even hated, but again at the end of the day, “strength rules”. Now, given that Caesar WAS so popular and generous, diplomatic, and fair as a leader…once he defeats Koba and becomes alpha again, this popularity and social acceptance will make it VERY easy for Caesar to resolidify and consolidate his position as alpha again.
This is one of fav movies ever. It shines such a bright light on prejudice and close mindedness.
16:12 her voice imitation 😂😂 love it 😂😂
Hi thanks for continuing with the greatest trilogy in the history of film. I adore Rise, Dawn and War they are masterpieces to me. Dawn is usually everyone’s favourite of the trilogy but mine is Rise. I adore Caesar played to perfection by Andy Serkis and Koba is the best villain ever played by Toby Krebbel. All the motion cam actors deserved so many awards but sadly didn’t get nominated . The film industry doesn’t appreciate motion cap work . Dawn is an amazing film everything about it shines. In this film you can understand Caesars feelings for humans because he had a happy upbringing with Will and you can also understand Koba and where he comes from because he was tortured in labs etc and only seen the bad side of humanity. Looking forward to your reaction to War and in a few days time Kingdom will be out and it takes place 300 years after War for the planet of the apes. I’m so excited for Kingdom. Take care 😘🏴 #ApesTogetherStrong ❤️ #TeamCaesar ❤️ #TeamNoa&Raka (Kingdom) ❤️
Please do the original 5 Planet of the Apes movies from the late 60s/early 70s.
Great new reaction
it was a super hot minute since i last saw this movie, and last time i saw it was when it was released on cinema here in sweden. i also like how the movie starts with a zoom out of Koba's eyes and ends with a zoom in on Koba's eyes. also, i find it fitting that Andy Serkis who played King Kong in the KK remake plays Koba in this one. (i think Andy Serkis played Koba, but i don't remember, so feel free to correct me on this. :) )
After your all caught up on the modern franchise it would be wonderful to go back to where it all began the originals, Its a Five movie story arc that so many just watch one and done, but to get the full insight into the story you are best to watch them all!!!
Koba was a brilliant antagonist. If anything he was the main thing advancing the plot.
34:15 completely agree. Andy serkis planet of the apes trilogy is,IMO, the best trilogy ever made. And if you thought dawn was rough, just wait til you get to war
Love this trilogy so much
You should see the 1960’s original.
RIP james franco's character 😢
My Favorite movie ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Latest update: Male Orangutan in Sumatera able to healing his scars using herbs that he chewed first
Nothing could possibly gone wrong right? Right?
If you are wondering why koba threw his gun away its because if you look really close you can see caesar takes a quick look at the gun and them says koba is weaker but koba noticed and thats why he threw the gun away.
Yup.....the whole beginning was so similar to what happened with Covid......it was just freaky.
Ooh the new one comes out next Friday, I might actually go to the theater.
All three of these movies are really good, can't wait for the 4th one
Speaking of Covid I even rewatch this movie during the start of Covid
This whole trilogy is epic. But this one, I think is my fave. The third one is a very close second, though. I believe it's by the same director as this one.
Also, I'm pretty sure that wasn't an AK47, but I'll let that one slide, lol.
War for Planet of the Apes is also great! Woody Harrelson plays the bad guy. Plus the 4th one is coming out this year!
This one is my favorite of the three so far. I love Caeser's development as a protagonist and leader.
I also like Blue Eyes and Koba. Plot was good too.

As much as evil Koba may be, he is such a great antagonist and I can't blame him for his hatred. Can't wait for the new one
