There's a lot of guys that can shred, and are technically advanced but end up sounding uninspiring because they miss the point.....which is musicality. This is what Joe does so beautifully. It's like musical raindrops, raining down calmness, not just a billions notes of pointlessness. Stunning.

Satch always put soul and meaning into his solos. I did album art for Shrapnel Records for 25 years. Honestly, I got sick of the shred kids, too many notes without much meaning. Great players but not much to say, most of them.

      Sd pick ups-
A pleasure to meet someone from Scrapnel records.
I thought I was crazy. Or it was a carrot always in front of me. A pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but I always felt the same way; the Jason Beckers and especially Ingvie malmstien - great speed and accuracy; but when I heard David Lindley playing Late for the Sky, I wished someone could incorporate a little of both

Assigning meaning to a note is assigning a time value to it....by definition taking a break from legato

@@JohnDoe-jc3cl I wasn't an employee there, they were my client for 25 years in a love/hate relationship with them. My idea as a professional graphic designer of 35 years, was to make album covers that would grab attention and look professional. Their ideas were often elementary school level and would just make sure nobody ever picked it up and looked at it. I kept telling them that its all about IMAGE. If their covers looked amateurish, they would end up in the Walmart bargain bin. Literally everything you buy, was dressed up by professional graphic designers. If your packaging looks bad, it won't sell. Same thing with album art. Some of the early stuff I was in the process of learning the Apple IIci, full color Macintosh. These allowed us to do full color art and export the files to film for the printers to make their printing plates from. It was a LONG LEARNING CURVE, because what you see on a Mac monitor is not what you would see in four color printing. Vibrant purple colors on screen would print as muddy blue on paper. We had "service bureaus who would refuse to take PC files because PC users were all uneducated amateurs. It was an exciting time to be in on the growth of Apple and saved us money and gave us tools us old analog designers could never have dreamed of. I think Shrapnel was probably the first to use prepared digital art because I got into computers real early.
