I worked in a prison with male inmates and they had this book ! This book can be used for two different purposes. 1. To have power and control over people or 2. To gain knowledge & be aware of when a person is trying to manipulate you
A lot of people dismiss 48 as a book for psychopaths, but my impression is that book's intention is actually to teach one how to protect themself from the psychopaths. For example, "Don't outshine the master" forshadowed the quiet quitting movement. When you go abkve and beyond, all your boss (the master) is going to do 99.9% of the time is give you more work and exploit you.
If they do that then ask for a higher pay and if they don’t comply then threaten to quit. The boss won’t let you do that as you have just proven do be a valuable asset that does more work than the average employee which means that to replace you they would need at least two new average employees whose combined salaries will surpass yours which is a loss to the business or one skilled employee who is harder to find (and in that time spent searching the company will fall behind quite a bit as a result of losing not just any employee but their best employee)plus the skilled employee will likely also ask for a raise so the company’s best option is to keep you with an increased salary as opposed to waste time finding a skilled employee. If you are wondering why the boss can’t just equally divide your work over the employees after you leave and not give them a raise since they aren’t really doing that much more work, it is because not all employees can handle even the slightest increase in work since there are a lot of them who struggle to even finish their regular work so this added work could cause a rebellion against the boss which he wouldn’t be able to handle. If the boss just decides to let you leave then you should go to a place where your extra skills are compensated nicely and you can use your previous job as evidence that your skills are so useful that the boss was considering you their best employee and giving you the most work (you appeal to the company’s interests by bringing up your past experiences and and implying you could do the same here which they are sure to love). If that fails then you can just start over as an average worker at another place and learn from your mistake.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 📚 "48 Laws of Power" by Robert Greene offers insights into the dynamics of power, influence, and manipulation. 00:29 🤔 Reading the book helps readers understand how power works and how to use it ethically for personal benefit. 00:40 🚫 Law 1: Never outperform the master; avoid showing off skills to superiors as it may threaten them. 01:08 ⚠️ Attempting to replace a boss is risky; it's essential to maintain their confidence and security. 02:03 👥 Law 2: Be cautious about trusting friends; former enemies can be more loyal, and hiring friends may not be the best choice. 03:29 🤐 Law 3: Hide your intentions; keeping your true goals secret prevents others from preparing defenses against you. 04:25 🤐 Law 4: Always say less than you could; speaking sparingly can make you appear more powerful and mysterious. 05:37 🛡️ Law 5: Guard your reputation; a strong reputation can help persuade and influence others. 07:04 💥 Law 6: Always attract attention; standing out is more valuable than being ignored, even if it means being controversial. 08:12 🙌 Law 7: Take credit for others' work; claiming credit can make you appear more productive and efficient. 09:09 🎣 Law 8: Have other people come to you; making others approach you gives you control and keeps you on the offensive. 10:18 🤝 Law 9: Win through your actions, not arguments; actions speak louder than words, and proof is better than argument. 11:13 😊 Law 10: Avoid unhappy and unlucky people; negativity can affect you, so surround yourself with positive influences. 12:24 🤝 Law 11: Make people depend on you; when others rely on you, you gain freedom and influence. 13:48 🎁 Law 12: Be selective with your honesty and generosity; use kindness and honesty strategically to disarm others. 15:12 💼 Law 13: When asking for help, appeal to the person's self-interest; understand what motivates them and align your request with their goals. 16:21 🕵️ Law 14: Disguise as a friend, work as a spy; gather information discreetly to gain an advantage in relationships and competition. 17:48 ⚔️ Law 15: Completely destroy your enemy; don't leave room for them to retaliate; ensure your victory is decisive. 19:10 👥 Law 16: Gain respect and honor with your absence; strategically stepping away from a group can enhance your reputation and influence 19:40 🤯 If your partner starts taking you for granted, spending some time apart can make them miss you and appreciate you more. 20:06 💡 To stand out and be unique, create suspense, and be unpredictable. People tend to gravitate towards what they understand and like, so being unpredictable can give you an edge. 21:17 🌟 When at a disadvantage, being hard to predict can be a winning strategy. It confuses opponents, creates room to maneuver, and can lead them to make mistakes. 22:25 🚫 While it may be tempting to isolate yourself when you feel threatened, it's often better to stay connected with others to maintain power and awareness. 23:34 🤝 Be cautious in your dealings with others, as different individuals react differently to how they are treated. Avoid offending the wrong person and assess who you're dealing with. 25:40 💪 Don't take sides in arguments. By remaining neutral and not making promises to others, you can position yourself as a desirable leader who can mediate conflicts. 26:38 🙌 Cultivate a following by giving people something to believe in and fight for. Exploit their desire to belong and have a purpose to gain power and influence. 28:18 🕊️ When facing aggression, consider yielding instead of escalating. Yielding can confuse your opponent and give you time to strategize for a better outcome. 29:14 🎯 Concentrate your efforts on your most important goals to avoid distractions and increase your chances of success. 30:24 🎭 In power dynamics, it's essential to master the art of being a courtier, understanding and manipulating the rules to your advantage. 32:44 🎭 To maintain your image and reputation, act with professionalism, avoid making excuses, and always be prepared with a scapegoat to take the blame if needed. 33:55 🎭 Shape and recreate your identity to fit your current situation and gain control over your power and reputation. 35:03 🌟 Keep your hands clean by hiding your mistakes, and when necessary, use a scapegoat to deflect blame. Maintain a pristine reputation. 36:17 🌐 Capitalize on people's desire to belong and have a purpose. Create a cult-like following by offering something to believe in and making them feel special. 37:27 🦁 Embrace boldness and avoid indecision. Courage and assertiveness can help you gain power and respect, while hesitation can make you appear weak. 39:22 📅 Plan meticulously for the end result, thinking ahead and covering all details to ensure your hard work pays off and your goals are achieved 39:36 🤔 Plan for the future with a long-term view and consider possible risks to avoid going wrong. Your power often comes from what you don't do. 40:33 🧙♂️ Make your accomplishments appear effortless and easy. People respect those who can make the impossible look easy. 41:44 🪄 Create compelling spectacles and visuals to impress and rally people. Visuals are more memorable than words. 45:13 🕵️ Discover each person's weaknesses or "thumb screw" by observing and listening. Exploit weaknesses to your advantage. 49:37 😎 Don't follow your great predecessors blindly; establish your uniqueness and carve your own path. 53:21 🚫 Eliminate disruptive individuals who cause trouble within a group to maintain harmony and achieve your goals. 57:35 💔 Use emotions and psychological techniques to win people's hearts and cooperation instead of resorting to intimidation. 59:16 🪞 Employ the mirror effect to disarm and distract opponents. Copy their actions or words to deceive and gain an advantage. 01:00:26 🔄 When implementing change, avoid making too many sudden or chaotic adjustments, as it can lead to resistance and rebellion. People prefer familiar routines. 01:01:08 😌 To make change more appealing, employ a comforting deception. Preach change while maintaining the appearance of familiar traditions and institutions. 01:01:34 😎 Avoid appearing too perfect, as it can generate envy and silent enemies. Occasionally admitting harmless vices can make you seem more friendly and relatable. 01:02:48 🛑 After achieving success, resist the temptation to overextend. Stop when you've reached your goal to maintain control and prevent unnecessary risks. 01:04:12 🌊 Adopt formlessness as a strategy to remain adaptable and unpredictable. Avoid rigid systems and embrace flexibility to confound opponents. Made with HARPA AI

Take credit for people's work is a great way to make an employee go postal. It is also contrary to guarding your reputation, unless the reputation you want is a poor one
The flip side of "taking credit for other people's work", is to point out to people when others are taking credit for their work. So you can remain the one with the moral high ground, but be able to take credit from the work of taking credit for other people's work. So you allow your opponent to hang himself with his own rope. Be the good guy at all possible, it will payoff more in the long-term and you will achieve just as much, but with more inner peace and less enemies who are also good or innocent people. Let the bad people be your enemies, because they usually do not maintain power long.

Your a fool if you being serious. Do not listen to this individual. Let them respond. Yeah go try this and see how you'll be sabotaged covertly your whole career. Another rambling from someone who knows nothing SMH read the book and you seem 18. No life experience to see how this is maybe the single saddest dumb idea I've heard. 48 here not the 33. Read them don't skim. Understand nuances and you got a hell of a way to go.
Yeah true it'll show you that evilness will come in all forms, where you'll think that someone's beside you when their really against you and jealous of you to try to get to fail ,they are manipulators not successors...if their toxic their evil and cold hearted there's something wrong with it's never naturally to be that mean or put others down then get a rise out of it that's just sick man.
@simhess9720 and the way how a toxic person manipulates others to take sides, control everything do what they want even make of them on purpose is the root of all evil too that's not right at all that's why If something's wrong it's important to just walk away from that person.
Video is an A+++!!! The book itself is for the weak and insecure. Its not even intelligent manipulation... The ignorant will follow the "laws" but if you can actually read/watch this and understand that these actions are done by the weak, you can identify them and truly have "power."
Bruh legit. Been listening to the book and it's so shallow in it's thoughts. If anyone would try to use these power tactics on me, I'd know they're an asshole, lose the little respect I have for them and wouldn't give any value to any of their thoughts
Pretty amazing how relevant this is to most corporate work environments. My buddy and I always called it the “psyop” but this is insanely relevant. It’s absolutely disgusting behavior but valuable information. I’ve had my reputation attacked for the last 3 years because I’m overqualified and have stayed out of the work social circle at all costs after watching these people eat themselves. After time it is more apparent to me that the easiest target is the one who is the not in the room at the time.
You are a human too Ryan, & you also possess plenty of these traits & have used these strategies; even if you convinced yourself that you’re too good & perfect. The mere statement of saying “how despicable humans are” instead of “how despicable WE are” is narcissistic; separating yourself from “humans” like some God.
@gabrielhu6596 With great power comes great responsibility. How individuals choose to wield the wisdom from this book reflects their character. My perspective on human nature doesn’t detract from my personal strength; it’s simply an observation based on the realities I see.
This isn’t ’teaching power’ it’s teaching narcissism. People who know how to obtain and use power are the most successful in the world. The ones who seek power by betraying and manipulating others are always doomed to fail
This is 100% teaching people (as in diligently rereading this book at bare minimum 5x. And you have to actually have lived life else you'll come to this conclusion). I wouldn't expect you to know anymore because you haven't read the preface yet. This is kindergarten type shxt. Think before you speak out on something you don't understand. I do understand if you choose not to respond. It's the internet go ahead. So others can learn how inept and lazy you are. Don't listen to this dude. He doesn't know any successful people, obviously. Nor has even read the preface like go virtue signal elsewhere like don't be lying.
@@mrmalio What exactly did you have an issue with? I think you should point something out in my comments, besides insinuating I've lost my sense of reality. That's not a good look nor constructive to the topic. And your insulting a stranger. Transgressions already. Let's hear the issue please. I'd love to clarify anything.
@ProsperVenturesInc The ones that love to moralise the most are always the most dangerous and the ones to look out for lol. No manipulator wants everyone to know their tricks.
@@mrmalio bro people are almost always the opposite of how they appear. Be afraid of the man preaching morality in an excessive way. We unconsciously create a total contrast to hide our worst traits. But don't rely on this. Test them, lay traps, divulge false info to see if they try to strong arm you with it, manipulate your face to show insecurity as they probe let them hit your strengths and oh so subtly show insecurity. Vise versa. Micro expressions are extremely powerful. Just show up and surprise them one day, those 2 seconds capture that look. That's how they feel about you. Furthermore play dumb, soothing thier ego, ask advice and report back stellar results. It all depends on your goal. But tough dudes are often cowards and the quite skinny type are admitted no contrast. But my goal is just to save time mostly. Avoid enemies. Keep gaining resources allies and power while politely maneuvering around these individuals. When one does get in the way, and they will you can well... depending on your morals and prior dilligence. But yes people present the opposite front as a coping and fear mechanism. Survival. They've seen thier true self can't be displayed. Keep reading ask away if you find anything helpful.
I've only listened for a few minutes, and it seems that the advice given are quite sociopathic. Sure, it can work if you master them, but probably not as an enduring strategy. It it better to build trust, authenticity and perform highly in a consistent manner. These are rare qualities and will stand out in the long run. Be aware not to be exploited without a fair return, in the long run. If you are a high performer, your power lies in the possibility to deny, withdraw a bit or even exit.
There are laws which talk about being irreplaceable as well as laws about being mysterious and "formless." I think it is very context based and this video doesn't give much of any context beyond old historical examples, some of which do not sit well with our modern sensibilities. For instance the idea of "destroying someone completely," does seem rather socio/psychopathic to me and the opposite of how I'd ever want to behave. But then you have to remember humanity's brutal history is full of these psychopaths and sometimes the least painful solution was to find them out and remove the threat as much as possible. This does not always mean death, but exile and shame can turn the stomach as well. Some people are closer to beasts, but this does not make them evil to me- motivations and- most important- actions define them.
This is how a lot of ppl act so it's good to study it to know how to manipulate thier game. That or what type of environments normal people like us should stay away from
@@angeloblvck2722 I don't think so. Psychology, psychiatry, propaganda, crime, history and vicious human behaviours are some of my fields of interest, some of them professionally, otherwise as topics for leisurely reading.
When this book is a part of the creation of Narcissistic personality disorder in the first place… this is what he saw people doing supposedly in the work environment … This way of behaving is not healthy and has so many psychopathic qualities, it’s definitely not going to help anyone make their life better or happier… it’s adding to the problem….. If people want to be successful and happy I suggest reading “The Go Giver” and using the advice from this amazing book about how to run your business or corporations with love and honesty ❤
No it's because you never saw any or most of the laws being done to you and their intent but now that you know you are now better equipped to handle psychopaths.
@@armstrong2052the actual book says so in the foreword. It’s not meant to teach you how to do this stuff, it’s meant to open your eyes to their strategies so you can guard yourself
Just knowing some of this can suffice. Simply by knowing about potential hazards, make them dissolve. The spell and repercussions of conformity dissipates. Don't corrupt, limit or inhibit yourself. Don't regress to the mean. Do your thing.
I'm hearing words like victim, trap, and deceive. This explains the world I've been living in and my fake friends… It's like soul-robbing vibes here. Creepy creepy vibes! ✌️🏾
The more I hear of these "laws" the more I feel like the book is a trick by the author on the book buying public, using something closer to what he see's as the REAL laws of power...and selling books through the illusion that he is so much smarter than us. I like this one: "Keep your hands clean by hiding your mistakes, and when necessary, use a scapegoat to deflect blame. Maintain a pristine reputation." And... "Discover each person's weaknesses or "thumb screw" by observing and listening. Exploit weaknesses to your advantage." Nothing dishonest or underhanded to see here folks. Now go buy the book and become a great "success".
Law 1: speak with authority and perceived expertise. That way, you can lay out 2 contradictory laws, and people will still believe and reveal you, even though you don't know anything except how to sell a book
Amen Brother! It’s good to see someone else on here who gets it. I stated in my earlier comment that I think the guy who made this did so with good intentions, but the number of comments praising the book as one of the most important ever and a must read - one even went so far as to say it is worthy of worship. So packed with logical fallacies, blatant cognitive biases and obvious contradictions that it’s just all bad. Anyway, appreciated the comment. Have a great day! Peace.
The titles should actually say 48 ways to be a douche bag or 48 ways to be an unethical immoral human being or 48 ways to hell. Just because these tactics work does not mean they bring anything good and valuable. It’s always advisable never to show your hand when doing business and not to hire friends because realistically, they tend to take advantage of the friendship you have and it can turn bad, but tricking people and lying to them to further yourself, is a great way to develop terrible karma.
exactly, you can move around more efficiently when youre not being manipulated, therefore dont need to actually screw people over if you know how to not get screwed over, then again sometimes u have to screw over people who are screwing you over already @@ralphy1989
It's exactly the kind of people who don't understand these subconscious things , are often manipulated by it and eaten whole. If u look at nature that's how it is
Sometimes I have issue with laws overlapping each other in a seemingly contradictory way. Not sure if it's out there but it would really help to have Robert Greene himself translate each law
He mentioned this. I forgot exactly what he said but I know he mentioned that the laws are to be used based on the circumstances. You use what’s best depending on the outcome you want. Use the laws like you would the Bible. Pick and choose which verse is better for that day, moment, or Situation.
The book isn't supposed to be used linear or be used at the same time at once, you choose a law that is based on your circumstance to help you gain power no matter the circumstance.
I’m sorry I have watched this video every night now for 3 months or so. I’ve never commented but I just thought I’d say thank you for putting time and effort into this.
The book is meant for those people who want to protect themselves from these tactics. You need to know them so you can protect yourself. It is not so you can do it to others. :)
@@Urawizardharryy that’s why it’s important to read the foreword of books. it actually says it, and the beginning of the video says to learn these in order to use them ethically. if a law is unethical to you, then it is not to be used, but watched out for.
establish limits for reasonable reasons and don't play into situations that put you in a vulnerable spot. whenever people are vulnerable some psychopath always seems to pop up to cause persistence for ending up in worse situations to take advantage of them as it would be too enticing to pass up an opportunity to figure being better than them and themselves.
God gave you his power, the clergy stole it, you sold it for entertainment and comfort. I'm a son of God... You are, too... but only one of us knows it...
A former friend of mine adopted these rules into his general personality. He now has no friends and is struggling with life. I have more appropriately named it 48 laws of malignant narcissism. As I said to my this guy before loosing his number, high pressure, deceptive sales tactics may yield short term results but it ultimately burns your reputation.
Thank you SOO much liked, shared, and added all notifications from bell. Seriously one of the most important books of all time, something to study, obsess over, even worship. It's a deeply powerful compilation of insightful knowledge and chilling details on psychology. This video is just as important tbh, bringing so many impora t ideas into a palatable format
I can say with 100% certainty that the first four rules up to this point are absolutely true. I hate that they are true but they just are. I have learned these four lessons in life in several different scenarios and unfortunately, they always ring true.
48 Laws of Power is an intro to manipulation for people who have literally never manipulated, or at least done so willingly. It gets way deeper than this. It's also woefully boring and unnecessarily long, even though I do think people should at least absorb the basic ideas, so summaries are great. Thanks!
I spent a good chunk of my teens in youth facilities, training schools and group homes with clinical psychopaths and killers I learned these lessons early
Just found out your channel while searching this audio book is there or not in utube and hell yeah it is and i also got the chance to find out your channel ❤🎉 thank u very much and your channel should have been more expose with great content like this 🙂 tysm peace out 😎
1:48 I turn off is when you meet someone and become comfortable with them and realize who they are then you lose interest in what they are so your heart part ways do to your line of communication😢
found the part about using strategic silence to enhance personal mystique and power very intriguing. Andy Warhol's method of saying less to mean more really highlights how sometimes, not saying anything at all can be the most powerful statement. What are your thoughts on how this tactic can be applied in everyday situations or professional settings
A dog has a boss, humans have employers. Employers and employees are equally worthy. The employee just rents out time to the employer, the employer pays for it and nothing more.
11:27 😮My grandfather told me one time we were putting up the Christmas like my grandfather told me you never worry about anyone's problems because then they will become your problems😢 Advising people with problems are people that fail to obey instructions or people that are being oppressed by people that are failing to obey instructions because I think about my situation see I'm being oppressed and I'm just waiting patiently okay patiently ohmygod enduring the pit but trying to learn as much as I can before I'm released back into the life as the beast is free 🤨🤔😔
Kept running into law 1 that has prevented my growth in status. Even when i dim my light or suppress i still outshine people who work over me and coworkers. I'd now rather work alone
I recently discovered this book and realized this is my boss's handbook. Reading it is eye opening. He's an even bigger jerk than I ever imagined. I need a strong defense. I will likely have to ask for God's protection. It's clear now that my enemy is much more formidable than previously thought.

❤️
If they do that then ask for a higher pay and if they don’t comply then threaten to quit.
I mean it is a book for psychopaths if you follow it for means of exploitation

19:10 👥 Law 16: Gain respect and honor with your absence; strategically stepping away from a group can enhance your reputation and influence
19:40 🤯 If your partner starts taking you for granted, spending some time apart can make them miss you and appreciate you more.
39:22 📅 Plan meticulously for the end result, thinking ahead and covering all details to ensure your hard work pays off and your goals are achieved
39:36 🤔 Plan for the future with a long-term view and consider possible risks to avoid going wrong.

Guys throw this stuff in the garbage and read some Machiavelli, you'd be spending your time in a much more valuable way.
I wouldnt trust anyone discouraging people from reading this book. Its like rich people telling you money is the root of all evil.
True
Yeah true it'll show you that evilness will come in all forms, where you'll think that someone's beside you when their really against you and jealous of you to try to get to fail ,they are manipulators not successors...if their toxic their evil and cold hearted there's something wrong with it's never naturally to be that mean or put others down then get a rise out of it that's just sick man.
The "Love" of money is the root of all evil.
@simhess9720 and the way how a toxic person manipulates others to take sides, control everything do what they want even make of them on purpose is the root of all evil too that's not right at all that's why If something's wrong it's important to just walk away from that person.
It's good for people who wants to protect him/ herself from narcissistic controlling people
Video is an A+++!!!

This book taught me how dispicible people can be
I had experience , would rather have read a book
This just reinforces my knowledge of the truth
working customer support made me realize that, especially during the pandemic

48 Laws of Power: A book to read so you can identify the villain's techniques it teaches so they may not manipulate you..
🥇
I have the same thought as you. Let's think together to improve ourselves Bro.
It's never ever worked on me and never ever will!
This is how a lot of ppl act so it's good to study it to know how to manipulate thier game.
That or what type of environments normal people like us should stay away from

Just knowing some of this can suffice. Simply by knowing about potential hazards, make them dissolve. The spell and repercussions of conformity dissipates. Don't corrupt, limit or inhibit yourself. Don't regress to the mean. Do your thing.
This is a guide in life for normal (untraumatized) people. People with trauma already internalised this. They need to do the contrary.
Maintain a pristine reputation."
And...
"Discover each person's weaknesses or "thumb screw" by observing and listening. Exploit weaknesses to your advantage."
Nothing dishonest or underhanded to see here folks. Now go buy the book and become a great "success".
How can anyone enjoy living like this?
they dont, for them life is a constant fight apperently.
THEY WILL MANIPULATE YOU UNLESS YOU KNOW THEIR TECHNIQUES
Everyone manipulating eachother in this world is already hard to enjoy living
Who asked you to always think like this? These techniques should be used in certain situations to get on top, otherwise enjoy being the underdog
They only care about power and money. They don't have any care for other people.
I was kind of scratching my head as well!
It's so you can know when they are doing it to you not for you to hurt others
im pretty sure anyone resorting to these tactics has given up on "karma" bringing in any sort of reward
exactly, you can move around more efficiently when youre not being manipulated, therefore dont need to actually screw people over if you know how to not get screwed over, then again sometimes u have to screw over people who are screwing you over already @@ralphy1989
That's not how the Bible works. The Bible is the word of God ,and is itself God. The word is alive, not a tool to be used.
The book isn't supposed to be used linear or be used at the same time at once, you choose a law that is based on your circumstance to help you gain power no matter the circumstance.

I was sad the day I found out the author never amounted to any position of power. It's like I found out Santa Claus was fake. 😅
It is based on observation on how people got to power. It is impossible for a single person to go through all of this.
Power is gaining control over yourself not over others
Have to watch out for the setups 😮💨
Also, your voice is great. Remember that you can pquse and talk slower sometimes and it can bring more attention to choice details too:)!
Thank you we do our best
@@bookwatch_com Not really trying to call anyone out lol, but I was already convinced it was an AI voice. Now this response has me at 100% 😆
It’s about 5-10 “laws” I would take out but the rest is gold
The manual of witchcraft

LAWS OF POWER WORKS FOR 99 PERCENT BUT THERE IS 1 PERCENT WHO JUST DONT GIVE A FOOK AND THEY JUST PUNCH U IN FACE 😂
😂
thank you for the vid. it helps me a lot
Some of these are just wrong to me. Why would you take credit for someone else’s work 😩.. I guess that’s why I’m not powerful 🤦🏽♀️
Kept running into law 1 that has prevented my growth in status. Even when i dim my light or suppress i still outshine people who work over me and coworkers. I'd now rather work alone
Do you think Michael Jordan use this? Don’t outshine the master he was the master.
True
His teammates probably used it against him
I recently discovered this book and realized this is my boss's handbook. Reading it is eye opening. He's an even bigger jerk than I ever imagined. I need a strong defense. I will likely have to ask for God's protection. It's clear now that my enemy is much more formidable than previously thought.
Educate yourself to his tactics and formulate your defense. Manipulators only have power if they can manipulate you.
Love from Bharat Bhai.
thank you!
