Great video!, I have several salvias in my garden of both types, they are my favourite plant because of the long flowering and how strong they are in windy weather, also great for the bees!,
Not exactly sure. But the flowers seem to come in more if we get a lot of winter rain followed by a hot drought in spring. They need about 6 hours of full sun per day and well draining soil. And a lot of luck. But, then they also dry up real fast - so we get about 3 months of great plants.
Hi, all Sages are Salvias. Salvia is just the Latin genus given to all these plants. In practical manner, "sage" refers to the plants used for cooking and "salvia" refers to the plants for ornamentals. But, it reality, they are all "Salvia" genus plants. Salvia also falls under the mint family.
If you grow these in a container, they should get regular watering (more than in the yard). Typically, you let the top 2 inches of the soil dry up, then drench it. I think it is best to water in the morning or afternoon if you are going to get the leaves wet - I don't think they like to have wet leaves in the hot, direct sun. If the leaves turn yellow, it means you are overwatering and could lead to root rot (and kill the plant). Don't have soggy soil is the key message.
@@battlefoxx thanks alot battlefox! I didn't realize when I purchased this plant all the information I was given on watering was for in ground ...I really appreciate it ! Thanks to you there is a healthy salvia outside my door for the pollinators 👍
Pretty! Never seen this one before, thanks.
Glad you like it!

I like the bees. Carpenter bees, too. Super easy plant to take care of.
I have hot lips in my garden but I don't have nearly as many flowers. How do get so many blooms? 😊

I have Hot Lips. It’s a favorite. It propagates easily for me.
But…..is it a Sage or a Salvia??
