Oh yes! That updated Tahiti Nui livery is the bomb. Kudos to its designers. And who doesn’t love flying aboard a turquoise and blue Dreamliner! Knockout visual design update! I flew its old A340 with the similar but flatter old livery and the airline is a fine conveyance with the island vibe. Inside it’s bright with colorful pillows and Gaugin tropical prints on the bulkhead walls. Thanks for mentioning it, Coby. And if you’re flying out of LAX, its Fifth Freedom route onward to Paris is quite economical. But I went the other way from Papeete onward to Auckland. Left on a Saturday morning at 7, flew 4 hours and landed on Sunday morning around noon. Them Tahitian jets is real fast!! Cheers, lads!
I was a pilot for Norwegian before our entire base (HEL) was shut down and we all lost our jobs. I really hope people wont be scared of flying again once this pandemic is over. We want our jobs back.
I wish you the best of luck, but I have to say Norwegian is a terrible airline. Most of my family have had last minute cancellations with no refunds etc., and in my case they cancelled my flight, forced me to pay an extra 100 euros to re-book (wouldn't refund me), then cancelled that flight too.
You bet, I used to fly to Europe at least once a year. I used all different airlines to get across the pond. Once I tried Norwegian Air, I crossed out all the rest of them to take me to Europe. Their aircraft, ticket prices and quality of service cannot be matched. I'm looking forward once all this pandemic is over to fly Norwegian again. Thank you for always going the extra mile for your customers.
Yeah, it is about time Boeing starts sending checks worldwide with A LOT of digits!! FED will bail them out anyway while many companies could disappear forever because of them...
A dude from Norway here: Norwegian has recently filed a massive lawsuit against Boeing for breach of contract regarding the 787 and 737 MAX orders. Things is about to get messy for Boeing.
Nope. Norwegian is going to sell 20 of the current 40 787. However they will improve the quality of flight in the remaining 787. They will also try to sell more stuff to passengers during the flight. As profits are quite low without that income.
I worked for Norwegian on the 787 for 2 and a half years. After 10 years flying short haul for 2 other airlines, I can tell you, Norwegian was amazing. I hope so much they can weather this almost perfect storm and once again, continue to transform the way we fly!
I feel like i have flown on your Plane once! I think a Pilot had the same Face as you if that is your real Face in the Profile Picture.. But sad you lost your Job during the Virus! But now you can fly again!
@@Nortisverikool yes, my pic is me but I was Cabin Crew, not a pilot. I left Norwegian many months before the pandemic started. I had decided that after having been crew for almost 17 years, I wanted some of my life back that as crew, you give up for the job.
The Norwegian government will keep this airline alive because Norwegian Air Shuttle is very important for the domestic routes. The size of Norway and all the mountains with bad weather makes air travel essential for the economy.
So true. I would love to visit the country partly because my former supervisor at a previous job was from Norway. I've seen plenty of videos and pictures that convinced me it's one of the most gorgeous countries outside Switzerland. If this damn virus goes away, I would book a ticket on Norwegian and visit but I'm scared for the company's future. They are truly unlucky although some of this is still Boeing's fault.
There is Widerøe airline as well which flies to many smaller destinations within Norway. And there are plans for yet another domestic carrier soon. So even more problems for Norwegian
I have flown Norwegian Airlines three times long-haul round trip from Los Angeles to Amsterdam and another time one way Los Angeles to London. It was an enjoyable experience one of the reasons for sure was because of their window tinting options and customer service was good.
@@strtngfrsh According to the video the 787 and 737 Max which is the backbone of Norwegian air simply cannot fly, and the 2020 corona jackpot make it even worse for them
Norwegian was not saved by the government. Norwegian is on the verge of bankruptcy. The government wasted money on an airline that was already failing with their huge debts. I hope the airline goes bankrupt. It’s such a trash airline that is not contributing Norways economy. Most of their staff is foreign. The planes are foreign. Most of the airline is also set in different countries with their foreign branches.
Was a pilot based in Malaga Spain for my career in Norwegian (2016-2021) Loved the job, colleagues, service and basis that started my flying career. Unfortunately with COVID, I as many thousands of others were left out of an airline job during the whole process. I have since found another flying job with another company, and interestingly enough, Norwegian has called me and many of my other colleagues back! With my circumstances having changed since 2020 unfortunately personally, Norwegian doesn’t suit the bill for me. However, it seems since COVID it have them a chance to restructure the company, and it seems they’re doing a lot better! I will always have a soft spot for this company, I miss it dearly but I always wish the best for the future for my ex colleagues and the company and whilst I’m talking about it, the industry as a whole!
Your videos are so refreshing. I’ve found that so many aviation youtubers cover the same topics over and over, and yet you always bring something new to the table. Bravo
Coby is very bright, y’all! (I’m from Alabama, okay?) Especially if he went to Duke - he used to have a Blue Devils pennant in his old studio. Old. The lad is really aging! Oof.
(Please reveal if you’re a Dukie, Coby. Kudos in extremis if so. It takes a bright mind. My cousin from New Orleans went and her education smoked mine. Roll Tide. There’s your clue as to why. Too many national championships!)
yeah, budget is budget though, I flew JFK to CDG last year and one of the flights was absolutely freezing, the seats had no cushions at all and the food we paid for was pretty bad, but at least the tickets were cheap
Long haul with norwegian is a pretty cool experience. Entertainment is free on board and if you need anything (food, drinks, blanket etc) you can just swipe your credit card in the screen and they will bring it to you. One time I was flying from Orlando to London and I needed to study for my test the whole flight. Suddendly in the middle of the night this stuert just came and brought me like $30 worth of food and drinks for free!!! He said to me something like this: ”keep up the good work kid, I hope this helps you study.” Amazing service really, never had something like this happened ever.
I worked for them 2014-2017. It was refreshing to work on the Dreamliner. 100% of the pilots that I worked with were extremely professional and friendly.
As a Norwegian, for domestic flights we basically have two options, Norwegian or SAS. Norwegian is 9 out of 10 times the cheapest option for domestic flights. I like flying SAS as well, but they are consistently way too expensive. When I say expensive, I mean often 50 % more expensive than Norwegian. Even though you have to pay extra for luggage with Norwegian, they are still cheaper. However, some international flights are expensive with Norwegian as well. Especially south Euorpe, like Nice and Barcelona. Flying long-haul (I have only flown to New York a couple of times with the Dreamliner), it's as good as flying any other airliner. However, due to Norwegian being such a young airline company, their fleet is generally newer and more updated. Also, SAS basically haven't opted for inflight Wifi, where as Norwegian has this as for free as standard.
SAS is currently working on inflight wifi and a lot of their aircraft already have implemented Ca-band WiFi (which comes at a charge if you are not a Star Alliance Gold member or if you are flying with SAS Go)
@@davidsolesvik7758 So there is no free (super low speed) option for regular customers? One of the downsides with SAS for me is the class separation. My brother in law flies alot overseas and collects miles easy as pie, he gets luxury treatment, but when you sit behind the SAS GO sign in the cabin, you are low class. You don't get that feeling with Norwegian, because everyone is the same.
@@lzh4950 Widerøe doesn't have many options on their Dash 8's as far as I'm aware. I once flew with them and they have no Wi-Fi and despite having an SAS Plus ticket (highest available option for SAS Flights within Europe), you still have to pay for food.
prior to Covid, I'd fly Norwegian from Los Angeles to Europe exclusively. You really get a bang for your buck. The crew was often more professional than that of other budget carriers servicing the US. The 787 was by far the most comfortable planes I've ridden on. With excellent seats and the humidity controlled cabin, the 13+hr flights left me relaxed and pain free. I recall flying on A380's to London from Los Angeles, and from Los Angeles to South Korea. Those often left me with back pains and throbbing headaches from dry cabin pressure. Over the years, I realized the savings on my base fare was so great that I could afford the Premier seats. Norwegian's Premier Seats was more like Business Class on other major carriers. They offered one free alcoholic drink, fine dining, recliner-leather seats with elevated foot rests, and complementary headphones. It was amazing and made the flights to Europe all the more pleasant. So sad to see it go.
The A380, A350 and B787 have similar cabin altitudes of approximately 7,000ft. You’re probably thinking of the B777 which is notoriously dry at 9,000ft.
I flow four times with Norwegian form JFK to Greece and MIA to Barcelona and then back again to USA. It was a wonderful experience, the service , the food , the ambiance inside the airplane was nice and quiet, the entrainment was excellent and the best price unbeatable and very affordable. It’s is very sad to think that they may run out of business 😢
They didn't cancel all flights when the 787 issues happened, they contracted wet leasing companies to handle many flights, payed in part by RR. Some people even flew in the HiFly's A380.
I flew Barcelona to Los Angeles in a Norwegian 787 and loved it. The "economy" seats the most comfortable seats I've ever found in economy. The restroom was larger than the norm which made it easier to use. Food and service were great. I'm sad to hear of their difficulties.
I have flown norwegian long-haul several times, between oslo and the us. And it is a fantastic experience. I have had nothing but positive experiences with them. My favorite airline tbh.
Flew from Heathrow to jfk on Norwegian. Read lots of horror stories before and was worried but I had a really good experience. Dreamliner was so quiet and seats were spacious. We were given free food on the way out too. Hope they survive
Norwegian is a terrific airline, we flew Oakland to Oslo and back, Oakland to London Gatwick and back in Premium and Oslo to Svalbard and back as well as Economy Oakland to London and back. All the trips we had excellent service and the flights were comfortable, even in economy (since we had a bulk-head seat) flying with my wife and sons on different trips. I truly miss the European routes they used to fly before the pandemic and all the airports in the US they were serving. I sure hope they can recover and return to the US cities they used to serve. I loved seeing the iconic red tipped 787's flying overhead after they took off from Oakland and were flying over to somewhere in Europe, knowing that I had flown with them before. I LOVE the 787 too, great plane, very comfortable with the better cabin pressure and the dimmable windows. I also liked the way Norwegian dimmed the lights in the plane so it made getting some rest easier, especially flying from California to Europe.
The conclusion of why Norwegian “failed” is drawn way to quickly in this video. There should have been done more background research on its operating cost and especially the cost of Norwegians expansion. The fact is that Norwegian Long-haul only made a profit on a few selected routes such as LGW-JFK and LGW-LAX, most of the other routes were making huge loses. This caused Norwegian to shut down all of the long-haul routes from Denmark and Sweden, as well as many other routes (London - Singapore is one example). Some of the points made in the video are also wrong, Norwegian didn’t for the most part, rebook on other airlines or cancel flights, but wet-leased other planes and slowed down the expansion when the problems with the 787 arose. Another factor not taken into account is the huge cost of expansion Norwegian has had, and the huge number of routes that failed in different markets. Everyone knows that expanding into new markets is costly and Norwegian rushed into too many new markets simultaneously. Its operations in Argentina was a massive failure, the “short” long-haul routes with 737s to secondary airports in the US from Scotland, Ireland and Norway was a failure, and many of the crew bases in Spain had to be shut down due to losses and to rapid expansion. However, it is no secret that the problems with the 787s and 737-MAX planes increased the operating costs and affected the profits negatively. But the conclusion and narrative of this video are too one-sided failing to take into account other factors such as the too rapid expansion into too many markets at the same time. The numbers on this expansion are objectively showed to have a huge negative impact on the profits both in the annual report from Norwegian but also the traffic numbers provided by different airports. The fact that only a few of the long-haul routes were profitable also contradicts the narrative of Norwegian as a successful long-haul airline.
KorsvollRossow : The fact remains that if the 787 and 737 had performed as expected , then Norwegian would still be running . But the C19 virus will now kill all airlines permanently
you most definitely have a huge point that this video misses, i also thought that the title is either too one sided or incorrect, that norweigan failed, i think it also shows why it was a success, but yes they did grow somewhat fast in my opinion...and i'm not an armchair airline ceo-but along with numerous route failures, the above mentioned response does encapsulate a more correct reality.....the engine issue due to rr as well as the 737 max, and on top of that the covid 19 crisis has been the perfect storm not just for llc's but also all of the largest airlines on earth, as well as all aircraft manufacturers which also affect the millions of those working across all indurstry directly and indectly supported through ancillary businesses, the end of the a380 and the 747-8-i hope norwegian, and all llc's make it along with large ones, but they'll all be strategically much smaller......
Where do you guys find all this information? I would love to be the foremost authority on Aviation management in my friend group. Not that anyone really cares...
I flew norwegian from copenhagen to New York on the 787. I think the specific plane I was on must have been brand new, and the staff were really friendly. all in all a very good experience with them
I've seen more airplanes in the last few months than any year before, but my situation is a bit unusual. I live at about 2 km distance from a military airbase, so it's mostly F-16 traffic with the occasional new F-35. And when the F-35s were being delivered there was a fair bit of C-130 Hercules traffic going around, a few of them actually passing straight over my house at low altitude. Normally I'd miss a lot of that while at the office but due to working from home I had a good view on both landing and departures for one of their runways. On clear sky days in the past normally it'd be pretty rare not to see one more high up sets of contrails, these days you actually have to look for it and even then I typically only see one set of them.
Flew long haul with them about 2 years ago in their Dreamliner and it was honestly one of my best flights ever. I didn't even know they were low cost until quite a while after. Having said that, it was paid by the company so I guess they booked an all inclusive ticket.
I have flown Norwegian Premium between jfk/cdg 15 times (each way) between 2018 to Jan 2020 and was on track flying almost every month in 2020 by due to covid. For me it was best for various reasons. - cost effective - best time, leave jfk 10-15 pm reach cdg around 11, leave cdg 6-15 reach jfk around 10 - don’t remember being late I had an open ticket which I changed date to December but to my surprise, they refunded a week ago, I don’t know why.
I am not really sure if you ever flew with Norwegian but as a reminder, WiFi and entretaiment is free of charge... that was the difference with other competitors... Norwegian was the first airline in the world to launch free WiFi on lang haul routes.
I've flown Norwegian US to Europe several times over the last few years. Love them. Great airline. Great staff, Great planes. I'll be REALLY upset if they fail because of this.
Yeah that would suck. *But we have oil. Alot of it* Yes i do think theres a chance it will fail, but, think about it. We in Norway have something called Oljefondet (basicly a bank of alot of money where they store like reserve oil money i belive for future generations) Theres alot of money in there, and i think if we gave some of that to Norwegian they would be good. But are we really gonna give them that money? Most likely not. At the end of the day, atleast Norwegian was the one of the most secure Airlines during the pandemic
@@TheGecko213 You misunderstand how the system works. They use the money to invest in stocks, so the money is always growing. They've been doing this since the 70's, so they've built up quite a rainy day fund. (But they don't buy any stocks related to the oil industry; otherwise it wouldn't be resistant to shocks in the oil market)
I miss flying Norwegian airlines. I had an amazing experience on a beautiful 787. But the next time I flew with them, they bumped me onto a partner airline “Wamos Air” on plane that felt 30 years old. Didn’t know if we’d make it in one piece.
I have flown Norwegian several times between Denver and London. I have also flown BA and United on the same route. Norwegian's service and the options available to you are amazing. I was due to fly with them a few weeks ago with my kids but alas, due to the pandemic, they had to cancel the flights. They refunded my money without any quibbles. They will remain my number one choice, if they decide to start up the route after the pandemic. Great company, great staff, wonderful planes and outstanding service.
I have flown with Norwegian long haul twice and I was actually really impressed with the service since it is a low cost airline! Anytime during cruise you could order a drink or something to eat (ranging from small snacks to sandwiches) via your IFE and it would arrive in just a few minutes. I really hope they survive since they are one of the airlines I have flown the most with.
Why would it take longer than a few minutes? The Crew basically just opens a cart, takes whatever you've ordered, put it on a tray and go to your seat number and serve? Race to the bottom is what these airlines are doing for everyone employed within the business.
When I flew Qatar Airways, the galley was open to anyone who wanted to pick up some snacks for free . No attendant to call. Just go and pick up what you want .
I have used them for long-haul flights Oslo - New York, Oslo - Bangkok, and to various other places in Europe. I think they were one of the better cheap airlines out there.
The Norwegian goverment saved Norwegian by giving them huge amount of money when the corona outbreak what at its worst, so they will fortunetly fly again. I know this cause im an Norwegian ;)
agreed, all governments do need to save certain airlines....i'm sure it's a huge employer, i have friends in the commercial airline industry and many have unfortunately been furloughed, it is horrible.......
Hey, my flight with Norwegian from Oslo to Lax was actually pretty good. Considering that IT is a low cost airline and i was in economy. Leg room was okey and the Seat AS well, but I really enjoyd the Headrest AS you can a just IT quite a bit. In flight entertanment is free and there is a sank bar in the IFE where you can order snacks and drinks, and pay by swiping you’re credit card. Overall IT was enjoible but I mean IT is a low cost carrier.
flown 787-8 dreamliner with norwegian to jfk international. it was a pretty good flight. it was a while ago but i really enjoyed it and were satisfied with service etc. there were a few tecnical issues so the plane was 4 hours or more after schedule but it was good after we boarded
Norwegian will survive. The airline is very respected in Norway, so the government will likely bail them out or even buy it if it's necessary for their survival. They are still waiting on their Boeng 737-MAX check as well.
I like the long flights from Norwegian. I've flown out of San Francisco/Oakland three times (Amsterdam 2015, London 2018, Paris 2019; 9+ hours) and back from Europe three times too. They were good experiences. The flight attendants were always nice. The seats are alright. And decent options for entertainment (free). I was to fly to London in June. Now I'm hoping they stay alive since I have vouchers from the canceled flights from this summer.
Southwest Get away fare Las Vegas San Francisco SFO - 1 way - fall of 2017: $179 Norwegian 30-day advance fare Las Vegas London Gatwick - 1 way - fall of 2017: $179 ...I knew it was too good to last
Im a captain on Norwegian. We indeed have been incredibly, incredibly unlucky. But now, despite internal tensions over local issues due to rehiring processes, the global picture for Norwegian is that it's back, and better than ever (it is profitable despite Covid and yes, you can add fuel price and ukraine conflict in the list now).
I've flew Norwegian in Jan 2018 from Edinburgh to New York Stewart, it was a bargain price but was still short enough to not need any frills. They've since dropped that route, which surprised me at the time, but may have been due to 787s being out of service. I hope they survive, I liked them. I've flown short haul with them too.
We flew Norwegian from Gatwick to Oakland in 2016. It was a really positive experience. Great value, smart and modern plane and on time service. Paying a few pounds for food was no issue at all, especially as you could order straight from the Infotainment. Flying into Oakland might sound a bit rubbish, but it was a surprisingly okay airport. The immigration process was super quick compared to other major US airports! Overall, would be sad to see them go under, although they are incredibly heavily leveraged so seems almost inevitable.
Last August, I flew on one of their Boeing 737 Max 8 jets back in August 2019, after landing a $99 fare from Providence, Rhode Island to Dublin, Ireland. The airplane was very clean and very modern looking, but also very empty. I think that probably only one-third of the seats were filled, which meant that people were able to take turns laying down. The accommodation was very bare bones, and meals, checked bags, blankets, and other novelties costed money, which is definitely to be expected in booking a two digit fare across the Atlantic. The seats were also hard as a rock, as they were basically just plastic slabs covered by leather. On a positive the folks at the front desk were pretty lenient with their carry-on baggage policy, and all of my interactions with the flight attendants/staff were positive, so I can't say I had any issues with that, and considering how affordable the fare was, I'm definitely not complaining.
Flew Norwegian on one of their long haul routes, London - Rio de Janeiro, just before the pandemic struck. It was a good experience, and I would use them again.... If I could. Now there is next to no competition on this route and the surviving flag carriers have the customers caught by their short and curlies (yes, I'm talking about you, BA). Hopefully we will see a revival of this type of business model in the future; but I fear the golden age of affordable long distance flying is drawing to a close.
Loved the freedom Norwegian Long Haul offered with their prices and what you chose to buy or not! A great model which works for customers in all tiers. Having flown with them multiple times I can honestly say they’ll be missed.
Don't forget that the norwegian goverment has the oil fund to cover corona expenses. They will bail out norwegian airline if necessary to save norwegian travellers the option to get cheap flights to granca during the cold winter seasons.
I've flew Norwegian long haul twice, LGW - JFK returns and both times I was seriously impressed. The product itself is just a seat, you do have to pay for absolutely everything else but you can purchase snacks on the IFE screens, you just swipe your debit/credit card under the IFE screen, tap the snack bar and order all kinds and they bring it to your seat, I'd also say that the snack bar is reasonably priced. I loved my long haul experiences with Norwegian, and it is very sad that I may not have the chance to fly with them again.
Flew long haul once with them, Fort Lauderdale-London on a 737 max, now I know it was probaly dangerous but back then was quite the futuristic experience, I had free carry on, and even after paying for one meal and one checked in bag it was still a lot cheaper than any other option. I tried to avoid them for a while because of the "cheap airline" brand they have that made me think they were more like ryan air, but it was nice and comfortable for a small person like me.
We flew to New York from Stockholm really cheap and it was with the Dreamliner. Was impressed of the screens, big windows, cool lighting that changed throughout the flight depending on time of the day. It was awsome over all. I will really miss it if it goes bankrupt since i have flown with Norwegian more than 70 times😔 Pray for Norwegian!! Maybe they have not done best in some areas in the past when it comes to borrowing or structure of bussiness model but: i found custumer service, comfort, great prices, well payed pilots and staff and really great quality they provided and also shows a lot of respect and professionalism to all people
I love Norwegian and I always travel with them. In summer I live in Denmark and in winter I live in Andalucia, Spain. IT has been A LOT of traveling since 2012, when I first mowed to Spain and I will not fly with any other company. I tried Ryanair 3 times due to urgent travels, but nerver again. By Norwegian everything is Nice, clean and tidy. The plane smells Nice, the crew are mega nice towards folks that do not really like flying.... Like me.... So I have build My confidence to flying through Norwegian, so I stand by them. Kindest regards JESPER of Denmark
That's just sad. I pretty much always end up flying Norweigan, not because I really care about the airline but because it's always the cheapest option by far.
I hope Norwegian will survive! I love their Dreamliner flights to JFK. Very affordable and you still get a very nice flight experience. Hopefully the Norwegian government will keep them afloat
I loved flying on the 787‘s with Norwegian air. I'm sad I won't be able to fly to Europe on then again. Norwegian did long-haul budget flying just right.
I flew Norwegian from Edinburgh, Scotland to Newburgh Stewart Intl - approx 60 miles from New York - couldn't fault them - return ticket £160, that was 3 years ago - on an Max 😱 hope they survive 👍
Went from LAX to London Gatwick , and it was great, my family loved it. We were comfortable so we slept for most of the flight. I hope they will be around for the long hual.
I’ve flown with Norwegian quite alot i have had pretty good experinences with it! Me and my grandpa was plane spotting at Gardemoen Oslo i saw some grunded 787’s but lots of 737’s landing and departuring.
Ive flown with Norwegian from CPH to JFK multiple times and i gotta say, it's my favorite airline. They have the best in flight entertainment system, with an interface that actually feels snappy and responsive. For my case they're also the cheapest option, since i don't care about seat selection and food. things are looking grim for Norwegian, but luckily they did get saved by the Norwegian government.
Flew Norwegian last year from London Gatwick to Copenhagen. Quick, easy and cheap. They did knock me $20 for being 2lbs overweight on my checked in luggage. But we got an exit row and an open seat between myself and my companion. Friends we were meeting in Copenhagen traveled from Miami to Gatwick to Copenhagen on Norwegian. They did NOT enjoy their economy seat on the long haul section. Too tight.
That' aviation! I had the privilege of flying Norwegian from London to Miami last year. Amazing airline and Boeing 787 Dreamliner to take my family there. Rolls Royce almost made Lockheed go bust when that was the only engine choice for the L10-11 Tri-star.
Indeed they are, aside from Norwegian there are the only other two airline that have demonstrated the ability to successfully operate long-haul low cost. The difference, though, is that Scoot is a subsidiary of Singapore Air and Jetstar a subsidiary of Qantas - two massive legacy airlines. The backing of their parent airlines largely allowed them to stay afloat at first, whereas Norwegian has always been independent
I’ve flown on Norwegian at summer of 2018, CDG-JFK. It was the best flight experience I’ve had in my years of traveling. I never encountered paying for entertainment. When I was planning my trip, I didn’t wait for a representative on the phone, they answered right away and fulfilled my requests at no charge. Sad to see them struggling during these times...I enjoyed flying with them..
I live in Norway and I have traveled with Norwegian more then 20 times. We love to see their wings in air. I have invested in Norwegian most of my assets cause I want them to survive. You will see then again in full swing in 2022.
I flew with them 3 times already. Twice from Krabi, Thailand to Stockholm. And 1 time from Oslo to Krabi. Well, they amazed me. I love Norwegian and I pray for their survival
As a Norwegian that dont fly as often but when i do i just love Norwegian, its just a really iconic white and red livery that is just a part of the country at this point.
Norwegian is one of the best airlines I ever flew. We had the low cost model in Argentina. Unfortunately due to the raise of peronism and populism again, plus the crisis they were facing they decided to leave. It was world class service, punctuality and everything!
One thing you forgot to mention is that Norwegian had to hire a lot of other airlines to fly their routes. Not only to cover for their problems with the 787, but even on short haul routes, even before the Max issues. I believe this was partly due to poor management, as they expanded so fast that they didn’t have enough planes and crew to cover their summer schedule. This is also something that cost a lot of money. I have flown a return trip with a B788 from ARN to LAX on economy and it was surprisingly pleasant. Good service and the 787 is a comfortable plane.
I started to fly with Norwegian Airlines from last year, flying from Manchester to Bergen. I've never had a bad experience with them. Long may they fly the sky's 🇬🇧🇧🇻
My experience of Norwegian airlines is that they are 1st class, I fly with them from Edinburgh to Stewart International in New York About 3 times a year, for about £250 return Sadly they have stopped flying from Edinburgh. Good luck to them.
Nice video! Ive flown many times with Norwegian, both short and long haul. LH flights are nice! Great meal, great IF entertainment and the features of 787 makes it even better. Of the 4 Long haul flights Ive flown 3 of them took place on the same aircraft (LN-LNB) while the first one was LN-LNA, their first dreamliner. These are the flights Ive flown on Norwegian: Short Haul Vaasa - Stockholm Helsinki - Oslo Long haul Oslo - Fort Lauderdale Stockholm - Fort Lauderdale Another unlucky thing with Norwegian is that Russia dont let them fly over the siberian airspace, blocking them from the Asian market apart from Thailand.
Ive flown with Norwegian long haul once LGW-SIN and few times btw ARN-BKK and BKK-OSL and they are the best for a totally fine service and very good deals and prices, will miss them and home they come back globally soon :)
Name an airline that has a better livery than Norwegian, I'll wait
Now this is a debate I can get behind - it's hard to top Air Tahiti Nui. Who else has thoughts?

Stay safe
You bet, I used to fly to Europe at least once a year. I used all different airlines to get across the pond. Once I tried Norwegian Air, I crossed out all the rest of them to take me to Europe. Their aircraft, ticket prices and quality of service cannot be matched. I'm looking forward once all this pandemic is over to fly Norwegian again. Thank you for always going the extra mile for your customers.

Well at least for year 2014. Man that is quite a depressing year, though today I won't be so sure.
I will definitely give you that one
It wasn't entirely down to luck, other airlines were avoiding flying over the Ukraine for example.

Norwegian definitely has a case against both Boeing and RR.
Yeah, it is about time Boeing starts sending checks worldwide with A LOT of digits!! FED will bail them out anyway while many companies could disappear forever because of them...
It's called a clause
Ggoddkkiller Not only Boeing.. the problem with the Rolls Royce engines started before the max problems
A dude from Norway here: Norwegian has recently filed a massive lawsuit against Boeing for breach of contract regarding the 787 and 737 MAX orders. Things is about to get messy for Boeing.
RC Tommy Idk how Boeing is gonna get out of this one.. the government help is been massive.. but for how long?
I'm hoping Norwegian starts flying more long-haul again, since my dad lost his job at Norwegian because of corona
That sucks
I really liked Norwegian
Same,
Nope. Norwegian is going to sell 20 of the current 40 787. However they will improve the quality of flight in the remaining 787.
They will also try to sell more stuff to passengers during the flight. As profits are quite low without that income.
Yeetmingo my friend too :(
I worked for Norwegian on the 787 for 2 and a half years. After 10 years flying short haul for 2 other airlines, I can tell you, Norwegian was amazing. I hope so much they can weather this almost perfect storm and once again, continue to transform the way we fly!

The Norwegian government will keep this airline alive because Norwegian Air Shuttle is very important for the domestic routes. The size of Norway and all the mountains with bad weather makes air travel essential for the economy.
Well, SAS still flies lots of routes. However, I do think the government will keep Norwegian alive.
I have been praying for Norwegian for all this time, and thinking just like you. I feel all my hopes are dead after today's announcement.
LOL, sadly the Norwegian government doesn't give a fuck about Norwegian Air Shuttle
I have flown Norwegian Airlines three times long-haul round trip from Los Angeles to Amsterdam and another time one way Los Angeles to London. It was an enjoyable experience one of the reasons for sure was because of their window tinting options and customer service was good.
this video just proved that Boeing themselves killed Norwegian.

Loved the job, colleagues, service and basis that started my flying career.

I flew Oslo-Boston few years ago and it was labout 400$ for a roud trip. It also was great pleasure to fly by dreamliner.
I loved it to madrid to lax
@Mitch Wild It is sincerely not best airline evem SAS is better.
I flew Barcelona-Bilbao once, they were definitely better than Ryan
Norwegian long-haul is (was) totally ok from my experience of several direct Stockholm-Miami Ft Lauderdale flights some years ago.
Yeah okay. But Norwegian is ok... I flew with to from Stockholm to gran canaria.
Similar experience with Las Vegas->London! I was really impressed with the quality for being “budget”
yeah, budget is budget though, I flew JFK to CDG last year and one of the flights was absolutely freezing, the seats had no cushions at all and the food we paid for was pretty bad, but at least the tickets were cheap
Another absolute banger of a video, but I wouldn’t expect anything else at this point. Well done
Bangers and Mash, even! Look it up.
What about Widerøe for domestic flights?
So sad to see it go.
not 2 worry, it aint goin nowhere no(r)way
The A380, A350 and B787 have similar cabin altitudes of approximately 7,000ft.
"paid "
I flew a Wamos A330 with "Norwegian."
The plane was uncomfortable as all heck. But the crew was fantastic. I'd do it again.
Yep, should've clarified when I said "rebooking passengers" that included leveraging wet leased charters. Will be more explicit next time

Interesting information on why Norwegian was losing money.

Best post. Never realized the 20/20 vision joke for the year 2020 .
- cost effective
- best time, leave jfk 10-15 pm reach cdg around 11, leave cdg 6-15 reach jfk around 10
- don’t remember being late
I had an open ticket which I changed date to December but to my surprise, they refunded a week ago, I don’t know why.
I am not really sure if you ever flew with Norwegian but as a reminder, WiFi and entretaiment is free of charge... that was the difference with other competitors... Norwegian was the first airline in the world to launch free WiFi on lang haul routes.

You forgot to mention that they were close to making a profit before covid-19
Flied two times Norwegian long-haul back in 2019. It was a very good experience.
I flew from denmark to thailand on Norweigen dreamliner in late 2017. Absolutely marvelous plane…
I flew norwegian from Oslo to the US. And it was comfortable. Entertainment was included and there were many great movies to watch
I love rednose :) Used it many times from Norway to USA.
Don't forget that the norwegian goverment has the oil fund to cover corona expenses. They will bail out norwegian airline if necessary to save norwegian travellers the option to get cheap flights to granca during the cold winter seasons.
SAS is not that expensive compared to Norwegian (at least short haul)
Just started working at my airline this week. We ain’t goin anywhere. But lots of my friends at other airlines lost jobs. And moved to other airlines.

Kindest regards
JESPER of Denmark
That's just sad. I pretty much always end up flying Norweigan, not because I really care about the airline but because it's always the cheapest option by far.
Norwegian will survive cause the Norwegian gourvenment will make sure it survives. So dont worry mate.
Only flied once with Norwegian but it was a really good experience for a cheap price. I recommended to everyone.
Wow really
Went from LAX to London Gatwick , and it was great, my family loved it. We were comfortable so we slept for most of the flight. I hope they will be around for the long hual.
WiFi is actually free onboard Norwegian
The free one is super super super slow
Halvard Bødalen but its free
@@tuulipukufisijoitusblogi2647 unless it was early or late, will I not understand how you got it so fast.
@@kullingen6909 I tested it soon after takeoff in a flight from Oulu to Helsinki.
@@tuulipukufisijoitusblogi2647 that sound early to me
We flew Norwegian from Paris to Denver on the dream liner and it was the best plane experience I've ever had!
flew from FLL-CPH on 2016 and in general, it was a very good flight. Cheap ticket, friendly staff and flight was on-time.
I flew NA from NY to Amsterdam in Economy Plus (Premium Eco). One of the best flights I have ever had.
What about Scoot and Jetstar? Aren’t they Long haul Low cost airline that uses 787’s?
Indeed they are, aside from Norwegian there are the only other two airline that have demonstrated the ability to successfully operate long-haul low cost. The difference, though, is that Scoot is a subsidiary of Singapore Air and Jetstar a subsidiary of Qantas - two massive legacy airlines. The backing of their parent airlines largely allowed them to stay afloat at first, whereas Norwegian has always been independent
OK! I understand now! 😁
air asia?
Best airline, ryanair can’t even compete against what Norwegian offers in terms of quality. I hope they make it back
I’ve flown on Norwegian at summer of 2018, CDG-JFK.
On second viewing it looks like they only charge for entertainment on short haul flights whoops
Wow really
As a Norwegian that dont fly as often but when i do i just love Norwegian, its just a really iconic white and red livery that is just a part of the country at this point.
I'm Norwegian, so I've flown with them a few times, good experiences.
I've flown with Norwegian from Buenos Aires to London Gatwick, the experience was great
Should've gone with Airbus smh...
But this is very sad, and let's hope that they'll survive, I've never flown with them but I love seeing their planes
Airbus has had its own share of problems though... it's not as simple to just say "ah, should've went with X"
They have been saved by the government😍
Jacobz3n no
Airbus also have their share of issues, Nobody is perfect
@@Racko. sssshhh, no Airbus is infallable what are you talking about😆
Norwegian is one of the best airlines I ever flew. We had the low cost model in Argentina. Unfortunately due to the raise of peronism and populism again, plus the crisis they were facing they decided to leave. It was world class service, punctuality and everything!
Norwegian delivers the best product for the price, fingers crossed that they survive!
flew 2017 from sweden to the canarias, great flight with norwegian.
Long may they fly the sky's 🇬🇧🇧🇻
when you bet two times in a row on the wrong horse ^^'
I've flown on many of the European airlines and out of all of them, Norwegian is my favorite airline to travel on, so I am rooting for them!
My experience of Norwegian airlines is that they are 1st class, I fly with them from Edinburgh to Stewart International in New York
About 3 times a year, for about £250 return Sadly they have stopped flying from Edinburgh.
These are the flights Ive flown on Norwegian:
Short Haul
Vaasa - Stockholm
Helsinki - Oslo
Long haul
Oslo - Fort Lauderdale
Stockholm - Fort Lauderdale
Another unlucky thing with Norwegian is that Russia dont let them fly over the siberian airspace, blocking them from the Asian market apart from Thailand.
Ive flown with Norwegian long haul once LGW-SIN and few times btw ARN-BKK and BKK-OSL and they are the best for a totally fine service and very good deals and prices, will miss them and home they come back globally soon :)
I've found it's always great to fly with Norwegian and the wifi was always free too. Really hope they survive, travel will be worse off without them
