1:50 the two bolts are necessary to remove the console. The screws hold the dvd mounting bracket on. Thanks! This made getting to the DVD player to repair the ribbon so much easier!
I just want the thing gone and maybe find a way to put the lights and stuff back in the ceiling and make a smooth ceiling I'm gonna put in a 20 inch screen TV towards the front but the console is getting in the way
Hi. What an incredibly useful video. Thank you. If I remove the thing altogether, will it affect anything mechanically or electronically in the van? I just want the thing out of there. I keep bumping my head on it and I don't really need it there. Any ideas?
The only thing that may be affected would be if your roof console has rear climate controls. Other than that there'll be a couple open spots in the headliner
Hi, the 4 screws that are supposed to be in the section of the front monitor location on mine are missing and there's significant dispute on what the diameter and thread of those screws in that location are supposed to be. It appears they may go through the plastic in an opening in each of the 4 screw locations and screw into that metal "plate" on the housing that's revealed after you took it down. It's likely you may not have that info on the screws but I thought I'd try anyway as the size the Chrysler garage suggested seemed too big go through the hole in the plastic in the locations of those 4 screws. Your input is appreciated.
Quick response would be to hit up your local salvage yard or LKQ location that has a yard and request just the hardware. I'm sure they'd be able to get you fixed up with factory screws for very little money.
@@CrowtownAuto Good idea, I can try that route. Are you able to discern if the screws did indeed screw into that metal plate I'm referring to? I'm thinking now maybe not as mine has a monitor compartment near the front that had the referred to 4 screws. I can still check out a salvage or LKQ in regards to the fastening hardware. Tired of the squeaks from the screws not being in there like they need to be.
Hi, I've got a question. Maybe someone can help? Town and Country 2014. I've removed overhead front display (thanks for DIY). But without it overhead spot lights don't work, even the small one in front of the panel. Do you know why? Maybe I should connect some pins in one of the connectors? There are 3 connection plugs, red big, black big and small one 4 pins in a row.
Do you have any idea if the dual screen unit will work to replace a single screen unit? Wiring wise? Does the system recognize them as separate screens or is the second screen just piggy backed off the first screen?
Good question. Check out this forum link. Hope it helps. www.chryslerminivan.net/threads/taking-the-plunge-oem-dvd-install-on-2011-caravan-crew.24969/?id=24969
I’m doing a camper conversion. This thing just gets in the way. Thanks for showing us how to remove it. Does anyone know if there’s any upgrades we can do? Like a bigger/better/smart screen? Or is it better just to take it down and cover it all up? Any other ideas after taking the console down?!
Shortest most concise video for this yet. Thank you SO much.
That's what I am for! Thank you!
I'm just so sick of the squeaking from this thing. Thanks for the video!

I need to repair or replace one of those headphone holder doors… any thoughts on how to accomplish?

Think it would be possible to retrofit a van with one of these?
