Thank you so much! My 2017 center console came down differently, but the ribbon change was the same as yours! $30 on Amazon and about an hour and a half because i had to follow a few different UA-camrs to accomplish it.
Your vehicle didn't have the dvd player in an entire long console like my 13 T&C. Looks like I have to take it all down to get the dvd player out. Fun.
For the record the daughter's van did the same thing, got the cable and in less then an hour it is fixed for the grandkids. Again thanks for sharing the video and the cables!
Great video. I did this but now have a white screen. I think my issue is that the bracket on the opposite end at 10:33 (near the top around the copper area) broke off and will not clip back on. I think I’m just screwed at this point.
Would it be ideal to simply buy a replacement unit ? My 2007 Commander limited front VES intermittently goes in and out. If I can get it to stay on the unit works fine because I can press each control.
Great video, my 2016 shows the input screen, and the splash screen on start up. The Chrysler logo. But when the movie starts the screen goes black. It's lit, but black. Would this be the issue?

I got the longer cable by coincidence, and unfortunately it kinks as its too long, and nowhere for the cable to go after assembly. It worked though, just wondering for how long. The original length cable would probably be best.

@@JuanRamirez-bl3dp i too got the blueray cable, but only had dvd on our 2016. Still worked. Seems the difference is not dvd/bluray, its the bigger resolution screen which bluray has, but also the newer dvd's.
It's possible it's the cable is just starting to go bad. Sounds like you are getting power to the screen at 1st but the video signal is not being received by the screen. It will probably get worse as more of the cable begins to crack.

What do you do if the connector flap that the ribbon cable is in pops off when trying to remove the ribbon cable? Is there a replacement part for that, or do I need a whole new board?
As long as nothing broke you may be able to snap the flap back into place, but you will have to have the locking flap functional to hold the cable in place. If it's broken you will need to get a new board.
Question..do you think replacing this will not cause my battery to drain? The thing is it comes on and drains my battery. I’ve already had to replace my radio.

Make sure the cable is seated in the connector evenly in both the screen and the ceiling. After that, disconnect the negative battery terminal for at least 10 minutes. Reconnect the battery.
@@bettysbeast it's definitely seeded all the way. We had the battery disconnected while working on it. And after putting everything back together and secured reconnected and turned on. It almost seems like there's no communication to the system like hey im open im turning on now. Lol if that makes sense. My husband is an IT and very precise with computers. So my pretty positive everything is good on that end. I just want quite in the car again lol
@@2Agirls0610 It's possible the ribbon cable is not the problem, even though most of the time it is the cause. The vast majority of problems are solved by changing out the cable.
I had a 90deg bend/kink in my cable i removed, it didn't look damaged, but ribbon cables are not meant to be folded like that. what a terrible overall design flaw.. tsk tsk Dodge!
Hey Amanda, curious if you ever got yours fixed? I replaced the ribbon cable on mine and it didn't change anything. My screen won't even attempt to turn on. I hit the Rear VES button on the front screen and nothing. I haven't tried disconnecting the battery yet, so I'll try that tomorrow. I just thought I'd check though to see if you discovered a different issue. Thanks!
is there a way to figure out what cable you need without opening it up? I have a 2104 dodge caravan with a DVD player, that also has an hdmi input on the side door, if that helps.
ah i just saw your amazon.com video, I see how to do it (pop off the video screen backing). I have a feeling it's the 68 because of the hdmi, but I will double check!
If you move the screen around, open and closed, but not all the way closed, and you don't notice any difference in how often it shuts off then it probably isn't the cable. If you play around with the screen position and you see it shut off more frequently, it is probable that the cable is going bad.
I removed ours and after removing all the screws from the back of the DVD player, the metal back plate will not budge. We even tried to force it and it will not come off. Yours just came off easily after prying away the 4 tabs. Very frustrated because I can’t get to the cable! Any ideas?
bettysbeast it was the middle screw hiding under a sticker! I felt over the sticker like 5 times to check for screws, but somehow I missed it😣 Thanks for the vid.

Possibly. Is it a 2 drop down screen system? Like in a minivan? Or do you have a single drop down screen?
@@bettysbeast single screen town and country. Software is set up for 2 screen but ours only came with 1

Seems the newer dvd with higher resolution use the blueray cable. On our 2016 that worked.

I have never heard of replacing the cable fixing that issue. If you can see the video on the screen your cable is functioning
I changed the cable and the screen is still black. Any other ideas? Pretty sure I followed to a t and the old cable didn’t have any noticeable damage.

You also have to remove the hinge screws and the screws on the front near where the wiring harnesses are. Should be 6 screws on the metal top.

The overhead console differs in model. Just be prepared.
