I received your reply and realized I had already subscribed. I am a minimalist "run and gun" hunter. I currently carry 4 V steps, minimalist/minimalist, Bullman ring of steps. I have incorporated a rappel system this season just for added redundancy. At 60, I don't want to spend the night in the tree. The Sladder would work great for me. Unlimited height potential.

I learned this lesson the hard way - just wasn't thinking when I started climbing a slanted tree. I am also finding that I am not using the last step before the stirrups because I can't get enough of my foot on. Any suggestions? I really do like how efficient this system is - I am recommending it to anyone that is interested in listening.

Hi Lance, first step is to adjust the lineman's belt to make sure you have enough space between you and the tree. I lift my knee up so my upper leg is horizontal and make sure I have space between the tree and my knee to get my fingers into. Then I place my foot in the first or second rung, which ever is most comfortable, and pull the Sladder out so the rung is under the arch of my foot. Pull the rung away from the tree by rotating my foot until it's horizontal. Do that with each step and it will continue to pull the next step away a little further allowing more space to grab the rung with the lugs on the bottom of the boot. Practice will help you get the hang of it and make it super easy. If you watch my other videos you can see how easy it is... it just took a little practice.
