Would it work as well on pine trees?
@@murraysabrsula4780 it sure does… several of my other videos are on pine trees.
Pine trees are even more noisy to climb than any other tree and any noise draws mature deers attention to you and they may leave and skirt the area !
@@Crayz919 Squirrels make noise climbing trees, bears claw, rub and climb trees, hogs rub trees… I get up the tree fast, quiet, easy and quickly… before they are close enough to hear the little bit of noise from climbing.
Neat system. I like the one stick method since it also serves as my platform and I'm not crazy about being supported by one leg in a stirrup while repositioning the tether. Easy to slip out in that position. But to each his own. If I used this, I would climb with a linemans belt.
Are you going to be in Houston for the Hunting Show in August? I'm intrigued by this system but I would like to see it firsthand.
We will not be in Houston this year.
👎 looks like an accident waiting to happen. I'd much rather pack in my sticks and leave them and not even have to use a flashlight to shimmy up my tree.

I agree. Been watching all these tree saddle videos and all I keep thinking is someone is going to get hurt and it looks like way to much effort vs tree steps or a ladder.

Why not just supply the system with the extensions or longer daisy chains rather than charging for the extensions when you recommend them for narrow and wide trees which essentially encompasses all trees?
In today's economic environment, the cost of "American Made" is very high. Due to the Sladder Climbing System being a brand new product on the market and having the stigma of an aider, we wanted to make it as affordable as possible so that people would be willing to try it. As you probably already know, Amsteel is quite costly. There is a fiddle factor with the longer daisy chains so we decided on 3.5 foot + the width of the Sladder being 1 foot gives 4.5 foot length. This gives a good variety of trees to climb and is no different than the limits imposed by the use of a Climber System where you are limited to trees with no limbs and with a minimum and maximum diameter. However, with the extensions, you can increase your choices dramatically. The options were to sell it as a set for $265 or sell it separately where you could buy it for $225 and then the extensions are optional. We went with the latter.

No, this is the climbing method… it folds down nice and compact and fits in your pouch… no sticks needed.

I’m using the Sladder Climbing System, Tethrd Roll Up, 40 feet of Sterling Canyon C-IV rappel rope, Madrock Safeguard and Predator platform.
Interesting concept. I think the only addition I would consider is hooking into my tree tether after the first length of climb. The lineman's belt does not stop a fall necessarily if your feet slip off the tree. With this system I think it is when your feet slip, not if your feet slip or kick out. Eventually you will kick out and a lineman's belt can ride all the way to the ground if you get caught in the transitional point where it is looser. Not criticizing. Again, interesting concept and kind of a cool idea. I just like to be attached to the tree all the way up and down. A tether is a safer option but it may interfere with this system. Just my 2 cents.

Hey Kenny, I just received my Sladder by good ole USPS. It's raining lightly, but I couldn't help myself. I added a couple of amsteel extentions because the trees in Missouri can be pretty fat, went out in my back woods, and climbed three moves. I was already using repel method with one-sticking, so I tried up and down with tether (watched the videos). It worked perfectly since I'd already become proficient with an aider on the one-stick. I'm going to love this thing. Well done!

Yes, there are lots of heavy set people using the Sladder. There are also lots of older guys using the Sladder. You just have to figure out what works best for you. Once you figure that out… it’s so easy. I’m 52 and have Psoriatic Arthritis and as you can see in the videos, it’s very easy. Buy the Sladder, pick a straight tree with no limbs like you’d use for a climber, put the Sladder on there and practice. Try the methods I show in the videos until one clicks… that’s your technique… it gets better and better, easier and easier the more you climb with it. It’s 1.8 lbs and packs down small into your pack.
So, can you use the Sladder with Muck Boots?
I personally don’t use muck boots but others that use the Sladder do use them.

Last year I bought an AnyTree Outdoors system. I like it, but it has its flaws. This system is very similar, but appears to address the issues I have with the AnyTree system. Very cool!
I’ve wondered what issues would come up with that system. Seemed pretty cool except for the weight and limited height but then they went out of business.
@@grayskwerel it is heavy for what it is. The biggest issue for me though is the ladder. I often have to reach down to open the toe loops for my foot to go in because of the way it is designed, which can be sketchy. And it is clearly designed for someone taller than me. When I set my next strap for the ladder, I have to either go down a step or skip a step on the ladder when I start the next section of my climb (also sketchy sometimes) because the ladder doesn’t line up with the previous strap the way it’s supposed to (probably hard to visualize, but I don’t know how else to explain it). I just feel like the ladder design could’ve been improved. I am currently waiting on a rock climbing aider (similar to the ladder in your system) that I will replace the AnyTree ladder with. I do agree it is limited on height without adding extra straps or moving a strap up the tree with you (which I haven’t tried). And personally, I can’t comfortably shoot behind me using the straps as a platform as easily as they made it seem, but I feel like that could be a lack of practice. Just by watching a few videos, I feel like all the problems I’m having would be fixed with your system. If this rock climbing aider doesn’t fix the majority of my issues, it’s likely I’ll be making an order from you next year.
Ordered myself one. Love it! I have been one-sticking for a while but found his videos & wanted to try it. There is a learning curve involved but not bad at all. I cannot stress enough: listen to what he says about the lineman’s rope. I found this fixed my initial struggle with becoming more proficient. Genius product in my opinion!
This looks sketchy in the perfect conditions shown (daylight, no bulky clothes, etc...) since you almost fell back at least twice and caught yourself just in time. I couldn't imagine how dangerous this would be in non ideal conditions. Please for the love of God, spend the few extra dollars and carry the few extra ounces to use a rappel system!
I agree. Product ties in on both top and bottom going up which is nice to see whereas typically one end freely swings but it would be more advantageous to have access to the ground with a long enough tether to then repel from instead and detach the product on the way down. It would also be a bonus if we could tie in while climbing up and had enough clearance to advance the system without relying on a lineman's/flip-line.
Hello i purchased a sladder a few months ago but have decided not to use it until next year once i am very proficient with it, but regardless the sladder i can see is absolutely a light and fast method to get up and in an emergency or last recourse use it to come down. Rappel is the way to get down smooth and fast............just so you know you have the body of a spider monkey!!! Geez i'm not near that flexible and well balanced so hopefully next year after using it a while i get a spider monkey body!!!!
😂 Spider Monkey is a new one for me… wife looked up pics of spider monkeys and now she can’t stop laughing. A little practice is all you need… every climbing method has a learning curve… just give it a little time and practice and you be climbing with ease. You might want to try the push/ pull method to get your feet in the rungs!
I'm 65 and not so nimble. I was already using an aider with a one-stick, so the Sladder worked perfectly. Now, less weight to carry, and less noise in the woods. Once you get used to it you'll do just fine.

I received your reply and realized I had already subscribed. I am a minimalist "run and gun" hunter. I currently carry 4 V steps, minimalist/minimalist, Bullman ring of steps. I have incorporated a rappel system this season just for added redundancy. At 60, I don't want to spend the night in the tree. The Sladder would work great for me. Unlimited height potential.
I just switched from 8 ft aider w 3 Wild Edge steps to the Sladder. I love it. More stable to climb, as well as lighter and more compact. Combines great w my platform and 30 ft 8mm Oplux tether/rappel/haul line. Works exactly as demonstrated in the video.👍
No no no! You’ve got a nice system Vinny. Please use a full length tether so you can rappel all the way down on one move. Too much trouble doing it your way. Think about darkness, heavy clothing, large gloves. All things that will complicate descending a cloth ladder. Your safety is worth the extra few ounces of a full length tether. I’m packing 40 feet of 8mm Oplux with a F4 device. I restrict myself to only going up half that footage and if I need to, I re-hang my Sladder and pull my tether down and re-attach it to complete my decent. I’ve eliminated the platform so I don’t have to stop to disconnect it on my way down. I’m new at this whole saddle hunting adventure. You’ve got the best system on the market in my opinion. I’m using it to make this whole thing easy. That means a linemen’s rope, and a full length of rappelling rope and a good descending device. With the lineman’s loop and my feet in the stirrup I can hang a ring of steps to give myself even more confidence and versatility. Congratulations Vinny. This is State of Art stuff. You da man!! 😊
Hey Tony, not everyone has a rappel system or even want to rappel. Lots of people are asking how you can climb down without it. I've used a rappel system for awhile so I just continued with it. However, I have climbed down with this method many times while testing and practicing and it's really quite easy. Seems like a lot of steps but it's just like anything else. Once you are familiar with it, you don't think of the steps anymore... you just go through them naturally.
I have used it about a dozen times this season and I feel very confident climbing any tree with it day or night. I can get up the tree in 3 moves and repel down in seconds. It is much better then sticks. I give it a thumbs up.

How easy is it to do when you’re wearing gloves?
It all depends on the gloves. Super easy with thin gloves but can be difficult with thick gloves as you have to attach the daisy chain on the hook.

Try this, when you put the biner on your finger to start figure 8, grab the other end and put that loop on your finger too. You will now be figure 8’ing two lines at once. When you get it all done, take it off your hand, grab that biner and pull off about 8 inches, go around two or three times and you’re done. 40’ is now effectively 20’, takes half as long and still deploys tangle free.

You down climbed but the bottom of the sladder was already attached. If you went more that 2 lengths of the sladder, the bottom would not be attached for the bottom descent. How would you reattach the bottom to get to the ground, does that make sense?

Love this idea! I saddle hunt using the one stick method but love the convenience of this product. Before I purchase - a quick question. When you double wrap the daisey chain, does the hook still come out when you flip the ladder upwards to continue climbing? Just curious because I hunt a lot of narrow trees in various swamps. Thx
Yes it releases just the same. Just make sure the second wrap goes under the Sladder and daisy chain… see my other video “Updated Sladder Instructions”.
