I live 10 minutes walk from the centre of York. I take it for granted and often forget how beautiful it is. You captured the beauty of the city very nicely. There is a lot more to see here. I hope you can make a return visit at some future time. Construction of The Minister was started around 1230 and took 250 years to build. I often think about all the people that helped build it, but never saw it finished. It is a testimony to them and their skills that even today it can elicit a wow.

You picked a good time to visit. Daffodils out, sunshine and not too many people.

What a lovely film of your day in York and what a lovely family. I live in Yorkshire, about 40 minutes by train away. My cousin used to live in York. It is at its best in spring when the daffodils are out. I'm surprised you didn't notice the statue of Constantine, who was proclaimed Emporer of Roman Empire at York in 306AD. It's just beside the Minster. Another good place to visit is the Yorvik Centre which is somewhere near the river. It's a re-creation of Viking York based on finds found in Coppergate, when they were preparing to build a shopping centre. You have the sights, sounds and even the smells of a Viking town. There is always something else to discover in York. Please come back!

Super videos and photos of York, being explored by a lovely family with delightful kids, who’s enthusiasm for our history and architecture makes me proud to be an Englishman!
Really glad that you enjoyed your day :)
Just finish by saying that the accompanying music was a bit urgent lol.

Nice video. Kendall Mint Cake is what hikers use to get up mountains - it is pure sugar :)

Just to make you aware that KENDAL MINT CAKE is NOT candy/sweets. It's usually eaten by hikers and climbers for keeping their energy and sugar levels up.

Smashing video! Music was spot on. Did you not manage the Jorvik centre?

MOST if not all Ist time visitors to York miss out the fantastic railway museum for some weird reason. ANY TOUR GUIDE SHOULD INCLUDE THIS.

Lovely video, all tourists and ( American) should visit York and many more areas that's worth visiting rather than London, where it's dirty, overpriced and doesn't represent the united kingdom

I couldn't agree more I live in Cornwall and there is so much history here even if the tourists struggle to pronounce some place names

I was going at 180mph 30 years ago on a Euro-Star train between London and Brussels. It seems to me that the UK is still a Member State of the Last Millennium, not least on the grounds that as soon as it ( the train ) entered British territory it had to slow down to 125 mph.
York is a fine place. I live about 35 miles away from it, but can`t remember the last time I was in the city.
I`m beginnig to think that us English have the same kind of problems you people from the USA have. To be short - if you`re wealthy there`s no better place and if you aren`t there`s no worse a place. But at the end of the day, it pleases me to hear that your sojourn to York was worth the time and travel.
    God speed next to you.
Ps, I`m sure that once a Holy Roman Emperor was Crowned thus in York Minster. I get confused as to which one...( I`m more a mathematician than an historian ).

I don't think your last paragraph is correct. Roman Emperor Constantius I was based at York with his son Constantine while campaigning against the Picts in 306 AD. When Constantius died suddenly, Constantine was immediately proclaimed Emperor at York. Constantine later became the first Roman Emperor to adopt the Christian faith and is now generally remembered as Constantine the Great.
