Love the direction you're going. Light/medium wood tones with black accents are gorgeous to me. The cabinets with the open shelving with counter space in middle great idea. Agree that large artwork would be less busy more calming in a busy setting.
Whatever you decide will be beautifully done with excellent choices.

Aww thanks so much Georgie you are always so sweet and encouraging!!! ❤️ I’m really excited and chomping at the bit to get started but I know it will come with time 😊

I agree on the mix for them back wall with a large art in the center. Libraries in dining rooms are also gorgeous. I say midtone on the table!!

Hey Brooke! I love your plan! Sounds awesome!!! I couldn’t help hearing you say multiple times “cheap”. I love to thrift, upcycle, recycle, and the thrill of the hunt more than anyone but I also feel very strongly about saving up money to purchase high quality furniture. Furniture that will stand the test of time. Furniture that is classic instead of something that is “good enough” for right now and then in a year or so starting all over again. Now when my children were young, that is exactly what I did because it didn’t matter, it would probably need to be replaced in a year or so because of wear/tear. However, some times quality classic furniture is worth the wait. This is just my lil tidbit of advice but I know whatever you come up with will be beautiful! Can’t wait, I’m along for the ride on this journey 😁

Thank you Lisa, you are right, I completely agree that I would by far rather wait for what I want verses just grabbing something cheap for now. However I also love to challenge myself to create quality spaces on a budget, and to save money in creative ways when I can but don’t worry! I have no intentions on sacrificing quality! I can’t wait to get started and share with you as I go 🥰

Looks beautiful! I love all the colors and vibes. You might have to go new with the bookshelves to get them to match. I don’t know if it would look weird to have a china cabinet on each end. They are easy to find. U could always take the doors off to create a shelf look.

Thank you! I’m glad you love it like I do! 🥰 And I think you are right, I think I’m going to have to get creative on the built ins and either purchase or build something from scratch to make sure it flows the way I’m picturing. But I do like your China cabinet idea and I will definitely do some looking to see if that will work!

Hey Brooke, exciting times for the new dining area! Have you considered the Ikea Billy bookcase 'hack' for the built ins? We've just used them in our space and they've come out fantastic! We got used ones from thrift shops and FB marketplace and just painted them and added trim to get them to look custom made! Good luck 😊

Yes I’m chomping at the bit to get started but I am trying to be patient also haha. But yes, idk if I thought specifically about the Ikea bookcases, but I definitely had some kind of hack like that in mind to kinda piece together and “custom” build this built in so that’s very encouraging that you have actually tried it and had such a great result! Thank you for sharing! ☺️

Do you have any habitat for humanity stores around you? You might have some good luck finding cheap chairs there!

I wouldn’t use an open bookshelf, they can look very cluttered in a small space

Thanks for the tip! Im still torn on exactly what I want in this space, I have a feeling I’ll probably land on a mixture of open and closed storage ☺️

Hey Brooke, I've never felt uncomfortable when seeing family pictures on the wall in gallery wall form. I actually enjoy looking at photos. But I think gallery walls are overdone because everyone does this. I like the idea of one big painting. In saying that, you gotta do what makes you feel happy, I'm sure it's going to look amazing for sure! I think you have similar aesthetic to YT influencer Lone Fox. He's amazing and his designs are amazing.

Okay thank you for sharing this perspective! I myself am not uncomfortable when I see family photos either, it’s more just I feel like I have entered into their home and their intimate space if that makes sense. And like you said, I do think that gallery walls are overdone so I am leaning towards one large piece of art for that reason as well.
And oh my goodness thank you!!! I love Lone Fox’s channel and style so I will take that as a compliment! Thank you!
