For the people saying it’s cause of your dna, that’s a big no. It’s about learning and understanding your hair, how it grows best and how to take care of it. I agree with every word you said! I had to learn my hair and Listen to my hair to find a regimen that worked. My hair doesn’t like being overly manipulated as you stated and I constantly wear protective styles!
When you say flat iron addict, once a week. The teenager in me winced knowing I used to straighten it EVERYDAY, sometimes twice! 4 years no heat now. Trying to learn to listen to these damn curls! X
i agree with these tips all except for staying away from heat and i think it varies from person to person’s hair porosity type. i straighten my hair a lot and have curl elongation from it and it even grew my hair out faster because it was constantly in a straight phase. i never had to put hands in my hair and manipulate it too much unless it was washday and then i’d press it again. it might just be a matter of trial and error to see what works for others. i do only use heat once every four weeks and not everyday because it’s unnecessary but heat is not bad.
I agree it depends on the person, their hair type, and their regimen. When I say heat, I’m referring to direct heat like flat irons and curling irons etc. I blow dry my hair with cool or warm air to stretch it as well and that helps it grow because it’s in a stretched state. I have a coarse hair texture as well. So whatever works for you stick with it!!😊
Thanks so much for sharing your story. This is so inspiring for me and my natural hair journey! I’ve just begun my journey about 6 months ago and I’m hoping my hair will eventually grow as long as yours!
My hair is currently in the middle of bra strap & mid back length. I am trying to reach waist length! I don’t get silk presses often and also wear my hair in braids 90% of the time and underneath a wig. I’m hoping to reach that length by the end of this year. You have beautiful hair 😍
You're a smart young lady with plenty of protein, keratin and all the other vitamins/minerals that the body stores and uses for hair and nails. As we women get older it's a little harder...I've been on a natural hair journey since 2017. I'm now in my early 70s; but for years I wore the shorty and tapered neck hair style...so easy to maintain and yes I had the perms and even started doing the texturizers myself. Well, since 2017 I'm done with that. My hair has grown to shoulder length, but I desperately need a trim and will probably do it myself. I have low porosity hair and try to find products that don't contain water, but do contain more moisturizers/organic/natural ingredients. I love my natural state of being. Thanks for the info gorgeous.

I'm on a natural hair journey transition for about a little over two years! My desire is to grow long natural hair! This video offered good tips & advice!
I did my big cut in 2012 and my hair started growing really well but now it hasn’t been growing as fast I think it may be the trimming but I don’t really know if I have high or low porosity and I don’t really know what hair type I have and it’s been making things difficult I really want my hair to pass my shoulders and I’d be happy with that but I feel I’m at a place where I really need more information to do this correctly. I was never taught to do hair I started learning by myself but i struggle doing braids and stuff. I really appreciate your content you are very beautiful and your hair is amazing. Thank you I look forward to seeing more videos from ya 💖
You’re amazing I subscribed 3 min into the video because you’re shooting nothing but facts. Everything you said was how I got to my mid back length. Protective styles, deep conditions, oils, treatments, etc. it’s all about the patience and education love it‼️
I love this video short & to the point. You not trying to sell me nothing. Simple hair advice. I appreciate this, thanks sis! I’m on my second hair journey & I needed to hear this. 😌
yes mam! This was hands down the hardest part of my journey! It took me years before I even realized what porosity was and how it was affecting my hair. After I figured it out, it not only helped me with taking care of my hair, but it helped me determine PRODUCTS THAT WILL NOT WORK on low porosity hair. Saves time and money too!
Your hair is beautiful. Yes cutting out heat is a big deal and I’ve grown my hair but if you live in a cold climate like I do it can be just as damaging.
She is absolutely right. Your hair will tell you what it needs. And drink water. Hydrating internally will show with your skin, hair and nail. If you are dehydrated, you will have brittle nails hair & skin that’s problematic.
To say little blk girls think it's "impossible" to have long hair is just not true. I know lots and lots of black women and girls with long healthy hair. Why wouldn't it be doable for us?? The human body is the human body.
Of course! Everyones’ hair grows because we are all human, I said that in the video. It’s the length retention and care that alot of girls (myself included) struggle with. However I do come across a few black girls here and there that feel defeated or want to give up on their hair. Those are the people I am referring to and trying to encourage! I know tons of black women as well that are able to grow and retain length. But for those who are having trouble or just haven’t found their groove yet, I’m telling them it isn’t impossible. It took me 7 years to get to where I am. Everyone’s journey is different! I know for a fact that it is doable for us and that’s why I made this video. Thanks for commenting!🤗❤️
Your hair is beautiful. My hair looks like yours but bra strap length. I wear wigs now because my goal is waist length, but my question is what’s the point of growing long hair if you’re not going to wear it out often or in different styles.
The downfall to this scenario is fragile hair. The minute you start styling your hair frequently it will break. Also the biotin does work but once you stop using it your hair will literally start shedding off. As you can see she said she uses it every other month. Take prenatals or women's one a day vitamins. That's your best option because sometimes lack of iron or vitD is why people's hair is actually falling out. Drink water. Learn the balance of protein and moisture for YOUR hair. It will thrive beyond your expectations. I have to deep condition once a week. protein tx once every 6-8 weeks. Wash once a week minimum. If it's summer 2-3 times a week with a leave in conditioner afterwards. oil does nothing for my hair. water makes it thrive. Lastly, healthy hair curls on its own. get away from these gels custards etc. A leave in conditioner is enough for healthy curls. Deep conditioner makes your hair shine! Setting lotion foam is also good and not harsh on your hair.
Thanks! I can see where it becomes questionable wearing wigs. For me personally I wore wigs for most of my journey because I love to cut and color hair. I also love changing my look but I didn't want to damage my own hair in the process. This allowed me to wear colors, bobs, and other cute styles while keeping my hair protected. I plan to wear wigs even if I get past waist length because my hair doesn't like to be out much or overly manipulated (as ive learned in the past). But You do what is best for your hair and don't let anyone make you feel bad for it! :))
@@jadecurls8816 Can you post some wig videos? I’m new to the wig thing but have been growing my natural hair for the last six months. My hair grows pretty long. I have about 20 inches now but a good part of it is still relaxed. I’ve been getting it trimmed lil by lil. It will be a nice break to consider wigs through this process. Thanks
I’ve come to realize that to get your hair waist length most wear wig majority of the time. A good example my daughter slay wearing wigs if you didn’t know her you would think it’s her hair, and her hair came to the top of her behind and I ask why wear wigs when your hair is so long and beautiful. She said that’s how it started growing keeping it covered. But, me being 57 and wearing a wig it’s just never been my thing for me. So I’m trying to learn to retain length by making sure that my hair stay moisturize and if I can keep it tucked away or in two strand twist my hair grows. Your tips I right on it. Your hair is beautiful by the way.
Thank you! I agree, legs aren’t for everybody, but they really helped me. I have a very busy lifestyle and for me personally since my hair is very tightly coiled doing a style each week was too much manipulation and I felt like I was getting a lot of break it. But whenever I wore wigs and kept my hair tuck, it grew like a weed. To each his own.!!
Great video!.. Dry Colorado air, and 'frequent'' flat ironing has kept me from achieving the length I desire. You renewed my hope in growing my hair past my shoulders.... one day...
Yes of course! I plan on making my channel super simple and straight to the point. And most importantly honest. What I did may not work for everyone but Ill just be honest and tell you guys the truth!
I tried biotin it gave me acne and I have perfect skin I take a multi vitamin it helps a lot. My hair is constantly in protective styling. Twists and braids no hair added .
Biotin definitely isn’t for everyone, but there are lots of multivitamins that work just as well too! I like to add hair to my protective styling most times, but sometimes I do without as well! 🤗
Hey beautiful! I just stumbled across your vid and I love the info you gave which was very good, relatable, and informative plus I love how you talk lol. I'm pretty much at bra strap length and I've been scared to trim due to a bad salon experience who cut off too much (2-3inches) but my hair has grown back and I'm still learning about my hair but thanks for sharing!
That’s awesome lady! Only trim when you feel necessary is my advice. Everyone’s trimming frequencies are going to be different. I have to trim more often because my curls are so tight. I haven’t stepped foot in a salon in over 10 years for that very reason so I feel you. Good luck on your journey love 💕 😊
Thank for allowing us to see that black women hair does indeed grow. Young black girls need to see more of these images. All we need is the right tools and knowledge about our hair care. You look beautiful and your hair looks beautiful.
No mam! I did not step foot in a salon and haven’t for 10 years now. I’m just a bit paranoid and I don’t like other people doing my hair unless it’s my mom. Nothing against anyone but I like to handle my own hair if at all possible now that I know how to properly do it. Just my preference! ❤️
@@jadecurls8816 I live in CA and no one here seems to know how to handle us natural hair girls yet. They're quite rough and not very gentle with our hair strands.
Damn it looks bomb. The movement in it. My hair just hits the top of my butt curly but I dare not straighten it again as I've had two people fuck my hair up trying to do a silk press and its pretty damn delicate. I have a lot of hair but my hairs are fine, easily tangles on itself etc. It's high porosity and water is my enemy basically! The search and destroy method is how I retain length but be prepared to spend a full 24 hours on it lol I like your presence on camera, you seem really approachable.
Thanks for the vid! I'm a Denver native too and I'm curious what you use to moisturize the rare times you wear it straight? Colorado is ridiculously dry and I find that, crazily enough, my natural hair LOVES Care Free Curl Gold moisturizer. The gnats love it too. Lol
*I am going to document my hair growth journey this year. Can´t wait to see how far my hair will get with proper care and as you said a lot of protective styling. Fingers crossed in a year or 2 I will have a video up with this tittle, lol*
Everything she's saying is true all her practices are basically the same practices I've done except for the biotin which I'm actually about to start for different reasons. After the pandemic hit I decided I was going to stop putting all heat in my hair and grow it to waist length and today my hair is waste length.
I would love to wear long sleek & curly hairstyles that are pass shoulder length! I trying a protective styles like a bun & french roll! I like your hair it's so long& pretty!
Could you do a detailed wash routine for your hair since it's low porosity? Shampoo, conditioner, how you detangle and what you use to style (curly and straight)... Mine is low porosity as well, trying to find products to help with moisture. Thanks for info!
Yes, however I learned how to take care of my hair and truly identify what it needs and that has a bigger impact on how I got my results. I’m fully black by the way! I am not mixed🥰
@Nats 🙌🏾 yes this is exactly correct. For most of my life I had hair that wasn’t bad but wasn’t healthy. And I’m 23 now and my hair is thriving because I worked hard at finding what my hair needed!
That was rude to say. You completely dismissed her hard work by insinuating that she's mixed. I've seen waist length 4c hair also. It's literally about what she said. Learning the type of hair you have and giving it was it needs. Hair type doesn't matter and it's not impossible to grow waist length hair. As black girls we just have to put in more work. That's the part nobody wants to hear. Growth equates to effort.
Blow drying is fine. I’m referring to direct heat like curling irons, flat irons, etc. that’s the type of heat that can cause damage and dryness. Especially if its used frequently. BlowDry using cold or warm air. If you do use hot air, try using a heat protectant along the way for a little extra protection😊
So you never said what type of straightener you use? I was really curious. I just recently stopped using heat and wanted to find a different alternative to straightening with a flat iron. Thanks for the video!
Yes I apologize I totally forgot that part!! I used the Tymo Ring! I will be doing a video on it very soon here, I’m just trying to give me hair a little break!😊
I use the Aussie moist line for most of my products! I wash once every two weeks depending on how much product build up I may have, and once a month when my hair is cornrowed and under a wig. I trim once very 3mos or as needed!
Hi dear !! I love your UA-cam channel ❤️❤️ but May I ask when you were wearing wigs did you oil scalp every week for hair growth or no ? Because I’m new to wearing wigs and I’m trying to grow my hair
Please please please tell me what products you used because I have EXTREMELY low porosity hair. My hair was growing I just wasn’t retaining the length bc my hair never stayed moisturized and I didn’t find that out into December of last year. So please can you make a video on how you lock in your moisture 🙏🏾
Yes! I will be making an moisture video soon! Please check out the Aussie Moist products! I love this line and it has been the only line of products that my hair seems to do really well with!

I’m on a journey. My hair was shoulder length before my daughter. Broke off like crazy and shedded so much after she was born. The prenatals didn’t help. I was going through it but my hair took off and started growing about a year and half later. 😢 I only straighten it about every 2-3 weeks. I don’t use any special products Lolol although I want to expedite the growth, I’m bras length right now.
Omg Jade my hair is lo-porosity and easily breaks,,but it is straight silky much like yours. I have tried a lot of products but one I stay away from is protein, not good for lo-porosity me..I look forward to any videos you have. Thanks 💕
Beautiful hair .thank you for the tips. I grew my hair beyond my armpits but they fried it at a hair salon. It’s been a struggle ever since. three months ago I grew it breast length and I panicked because I couldn’t deal with the tangles. My question is do you brush it daily in order to detangle or is it a bad idea?
I personally do not brush my hair daily. I trying to keep the brush out of my hair as much as possible. I usually wear a protective style through out the week that has my ends protected so I don’t get tangles in my day to day life!
I can't find wigs to fit all my thick hair underneath. Lol! So, I would love to know what wigs you have used? Also, Your hair is so beautiful and healthy looking. The Shine!💗 I'm in awe of how you had all that length so neatly wrapped. Much thanks in advance for sharing! 🙌🎉💯

I have low porosity hair and try to find products that don't contain water, but do contain more moisturizers/organic/natural ingredients. I love my natural state of being. Thanks for the info gorgeous.
this is a really well put together video. straightforward and honest unlike some others on this app 😭 very inspiring and by the way you’re gorgeous
Thank you! I really Appreciate it!
Remember to sleep with a bonnet or satin scarf before bed to prevent breakage ♥️
Yes absolutely!!
I was almost waist length but then I stopped taking care of my hair so I’m starting over....thanks for the tips 😃
Sure thing! Good luck on your new journey ❤️
New subbing....bcuz I appreciate your honesty....5 years to even know what YOUR hair needs. THANK YOU for that bcuz I felt like a failure bcuz of MY same amount of time. So it’s not just me.....whew! I will keep going. Please get more information out here to us.
I will be doing another talk through about common questions people as me and I will give you some more honest advice be that I had to find out the hard way! Thanks so much for the support ❤️
The type of water you’re washing your hair with matters a lot & cold water rinses are a must
& your daily diet is important. Consume plant based foods & beverages on a daily basis & limit & omit certain foods. A diet high in vitamins & minerals can make your hair grow faster.
Yes diet is important! And everyone’s diet is different. Just make sure whatever it is it works for you!
I made waist length relaxed and Silly me chopped It off and went natural LOL I can't complain I made bra strap now when blown out I'm a wig wearer as well Especially now in NY its 23 degrees I like cute hats some are well I would never wear them on my real hair thank you you and your hair are beautiful
Thanks so much. I’m a wig wearer as well. I love them!
Your hair is gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your journey! Looking forward to seeing more from you.
Thanks so much! I plan to post more!
I'm on a natural hair journey transition for about a little over two years! My desire is to grow long natural hair! This video offered good tips & advice!
I’m glad you like it. Don’t give up! Good luck on your journey ❤️❤️❤️😊
Thanks so much love! I’ll try to give as much information as I can ☺️
You’re amazing I subscribed 3 min into the video because you’re shooting nothing but facts. Everything you said was how I got to my mid back length. Protective styles, deep conditions, oils, treatments, etc. it’s all about the patience and education love it‼️
Thanks girl! I appreciate it!!
I hate my hair straight. I'm interested in your curly hairstyles.
Stay tuned, ill be posting more videos soon!!
Same. I don't even have a desire to even straighten anymore. It's been about 2 or 3 yrs. I just love my curls too much in all its tangleness lol
Cool tips. I enjoy using heat on every wash day because I realize my hair breaks more in its natural state . Haven’t seen a SSK since
I enjoying using heat to warm up my conditioner to open the hair shaft! It really helps!
I love this video short & to the point. You not trying to sell me nothing. Simple hair advice. I appreciate this, thanks sis! I’m on my second hair journey & I needed to hear this. 😌
I was trying to keep it short and honest! Thanks so much ❤️
Girl I Felt that super low porosity in my spirit because that is my STRUGGLE!!!
Roux Porosity Control is the best for porosity issues.
I would love to hear more about how you achieved this result without a flat iron.
I actually didn't use a flat iron for this style! I used the TYMO ring!

Yaaasssss Jade!!!!!! I think I’m going to start investing in glueless wigs
I’m actually planning to do a glueless wig video soon because through out my journey I never wore glue on my wigs and it worked for me.
@@jadecurls8816 omg yes please because that was my only reason for not sticking to wigs
Your hair is soooo beautiful. You inspire me. Thanks for the tips.
Thanks love!
I haven’t been taking care of my hair. But I think my new routine i just posted is going to help my hair grow 😊.
That’s awesome! I’m so glad you found a rhythm that works for you 🥰
@@jadecurls8816 do u trim ur ends when it’s curly?
@@Kuwkay no I blow dry it with cold air! I like to have my hair stretched to do trims because I can see the knots and split ends better
@@jadecurls8816 ok thanks
Your hair is beautiful. Yes cutting out heat is a big deal and I’ve grown my hair but if you live in a cold climate like I do it can be just as damaging.
Thank you! Yes I stay away from heat as much as possible
She is absolutely right. Your hair will tell you what it needs. And drink water. Hydrating internally will show with your skin, hair and nail. If you are dehydrated, you will have brittle nails hair & skin that’s problematic.
For sure! Just gotta listen to what your body needs and everything will come together!

Thing is, A LOT of black girls dont believe in hair growth.. unless you're mixed🤦🏽♀️ so im glad she said that❤🥰
@@thetongueofangels1882 absolutely! Idk what the original poster even meant. Jade never said growing long hair is impossible
Love this ❤️ my hairs currently down my back cant wait to hit waist length 😭
You will reach your goal soon I’m sure! Don’t give up!
@@jadecurls8816 thank you🥺❤️
Your hair is beautiful.
You renewed my hope in growing my hair past my shoulders.... one day...
Thanks love! Don't give up!
Yes finally a video that gave us ALL the tea!!!! Xxxx
Yes of course! I plan on making my channel super simple and straight to the point. And most importantly honest. What I did may not work for everyone but Ill just be honest and tell you guys the truth!
Your hair is Beautiful! And thank you for SHARING your Hair Journey!👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿💜🎤
Thanks so much love!!
You are pretty . You are So calm and very informative.Thank you so much for the tips .
Thank you!
It gave you acne because you’re not drinking enough water. Once you drink enough it won’t break you out.
Could you do a video on how you trimmed your hair? Also do you trim while it's straight or curly?
Yes I’ll put that on my list. I blow dry my hair with cool air to stretch it, then I trim it!

This was very satisfying, idk - just something about real reveals for me! Bto, your hair looks amazing!!!
Thanks so much 🤗
Hi fellow Coloradan! Did you go to hair salon during your hair journey?

You have me in tears 😭 it’s all about the little black girls I did a video on my channel wish have known how to take care of my hair
It’s never too late to try again!
I cut mine and start over
Damn it looks bomb.
Thanks so much 💕
that shout out to the little blacks girls won me over! I love it

Lol
Yes! It’s extremely dry here 😭
*I am going to document my hair growth journey this year.

And by the way sis, you are so beautiful. Your skin is so amazing.

@@jadecurls8816 Makes sense. Thank you for sharing your routine!

Thank you! I live in Michigan I Trim all kinds of dead ends off.
It really does help!
in terms of heat.. does that include blow drying after wash day? As well as that how often do you was your hair

Yes I did oil my scalp once a week, not just for growth, but for dry scalp and maintenance as well 😊
what's your hair type? i'm 4c but I want to know because it might take longer if your hair is less coilier
I’m 4a/4b. I’m type 4, so we just need to take a little more time and care with our hair. It’s definitely doable!💕
