The problem was Jordan didn't have the right players around him and no matter how much Jordan scored he couldn't win by himself. When the Bulls got Scottie Pippin and Horace Grant and traded for Bill Cartwright and John Paxton got better thats win Jordan was able to win his first Championship in 1991 by defeating The bad boy Detroit Pistons in the conference finals and then Magic in the NBA finals. It wasn't easy but it takes time. Many great players never win a championship. Clark just needs the right team around her to win a championship just like Jordan did. Angel Reese won a championship because she had the right team around her. The best players on that LSU team were Alexis Morris, Jasmine Carson and Williams. They were the players who actually beat Clark for the championship with a combined effort. Team ball wins championships. The crazy thing about it is those same three players from that LSU team got cut from the WNBA last year. Ain't that a B. The competition is rough. I can't take nothing away from Clark. I look at it like this. She is an outstanding player and she dragged an average Iowa team at best to two championship games and lost both times because her average teammates couldn't hang with the better players on the South Carolina team and the LSU team. Why? Team basketball. Until Clark gets the right teammates she won't be winning a championship if at all. But all respect to her, she is a baller and can play and it don't matter what color she is. The reason the Fever finished so low last year is now painfully obvious. Putting the brakes on CC seems really dumb.
Poor coaching
Bill Lambier did the same thing with the Aces with Plum. Plum looked average. Took a long time, then all of a sudden it seems Plum was let to play and look at her now. Indiana was the 3rd worst team last year. They need to consider this a rebuild year and do what the lakers did with Kobe in his rookie year. Lakers told Kobe just play and dont worry about anything. Just get playing time. we will correct things as we go.
She’ll learn and grow. You could tell she was extremely hesitant and unsure early on. She’ll also learn and make better passing choices. The Fever Head Coach, the ball is in your court to work on their mental game because it was obvious that is still lacking!

I watched the game. As a basketball fan for over 40 years, this is the first time I’ve ever watched a WNBA game. I was shocked at how bad the teams were and would compare the skill level to a boys freshmen HS team. With that said, I could clearly tell that CC was the most skill player on the floor, her ball handling is unmatched by anyone, her passing capabilities and how she sees the game are already miles ahead of anything else I saw on the court, and her shooting with that knock down step back is clean. Her team is trash though and the opposite team was doubling her and treating her like Michael Jordan while her team stood around the perimeter and failed to get open, while she tried to create resulting in 10 turnovers. But from what I saw it won’t take her long to adapt and she will be dominating this league in no time and that will actually be fun to watch! 😊
The Fever had the number 1 draft pick. Anyone who think that’s a good team is bananas. This is a great first game for a rookie. All the CC haters are pathetic.
She was a turnover machine in college. Also mid handles and only drives from the left. She can make 3s but she shoots from the chest.
The main takeaway is that the wnba is just not that skilled.
Fever has been at the bottom of the league for a while. Why do you think they got the #1 pick. CC is going to struggle on this team. They dont have the talent.

She played pretty well for her first game. The pressure on her must be crazy. The entire league is on her shoulders right now. Yeah, had too many TO's but she was trying to do too much like most talented players tend to do at times. The rest of her team blows though.

Boston is good. However, a good post player is only going to get you so far. The team is young and needs to build on-court chemistry. Iowa had lots of chemistry. You don't see that with this Indiana team...at least not yet.

They seemed better when Clark wasn’t bringing the ball up the court. Every team is going to put their best defender on her. Alleviate some of that pressure by having someone else bring the ball up. Then run Clark off screens, get the ball to her and initiate offense that way.
It's funny how People who actually watch basketball can see all the flaws in the team and solutions or strategies to help but the coach is clueless on top of having her second guess herself

This was tough to watch , even with Clark woman's basketball is brutal to watch . Problem with the Fever is Clark doesn't get the ball nearly enough and it's not the defense causing it , it's the coach asking her to lay back on her awesome offensive potential in favor of dishing the ball to all the other teammates who are nowhere remotely close to being as good as Clark . Want to win a ton of games then focus on getting Clark a lot more shots because she didn't take nearly enough shots for the Fever to win this game.

Boston needs to get in shape, she's the key to help Clark or its gonna be a tough season for Clark. Boston doesnt seem to be able to set good screens or run up down the court fast enough, so the pace slows down which doesnt favor Clark.

The entire game was just a circus….not even 17% organized. Everyone just wants to do their thing and not elevate Clark so she can elevate everyone in her team. Every member of her team including her coach have to understand that they need to acknowledge that Clark is exceptional….if not, we might as well watch a bunch of middle schoolers play after a long day at work.

Don't agree with that at all. My take is that Clark was a brilliant passer in the college game, and has shown promise in the pro game in that regard. But she tries to make passes that work in college but don't work in pros where the players are the elite quicker players. She will learn over time what passes work in the pros and be a brilliant passer in the pros, with 10 turnovers being an aberration. Give her time.
@@markgunderman5243 CC is 3rd all time in NCAA history in turnovers. Last season, she led the NCAA in turnovers. She had 70 more turnovers than the next person on the list. The 10 TOs are no surprise.
@@kwamethomas1054 lebron, one of the best passers, has the most total TOS in history. He also had 1o tos in a game when he was a full blown superstar unlike the rookie who is in her first game.

So, I didn't get to see her play - only the "highlights" that showed her shooting one basket after another. (But clearly, the fact that her team was BEHIND by 10+ points almost from the outset was NOT a good sign!).
From other comments, it seems that just MAYBE, the coach should just step back, shut up, and get out of her way!

Her points did come later in the game but I don’t think that was necessarily “garbage time” it was just she came out cold and by the time she settled in the game was out of reach. She and Nalyssa Smith were defended well.. they have a long way to go

Clark is a rookie in the Pros and sometimes it is like relearning the game that you have
played all your life.
I felt like Caitlin was uncomfortable in the first quarter, but as the game went on
and the more she handled the ball she seemed to calm down and got more of a feel of the game.
Yes, she made mistakes, rookie mistakes, she had a lot of turnovers, that is a rookie and
we all know she will adjust as she gets used to the speed of the Pros.
I was not that surprised with the turnovers, but again, she is a rookie and she will get better.
With that said, it was very impressive that she ended up with 20 points.
My biggest disappointment was with Boston, she was double and triple team and failed
to put the ball back out. She forced shots and missed. Lost control of the ball several times.
Overall the Fever played very poorly, and these gals have been in the league for more than one season.
For some reason they over threw the ball several times tonight as a team.
One thing I noticed the Sun liked to bunch up in the lane, that would make it very difficult to
a get a pass in, which it did. That is where you open things with hitting the threes, and that is something
they did very little of the first half.
Caitlin will get better, there is no doubt about that, the real question is, will the rest of the Fever
team get better as well.
I am not going to blame the coach at this point, too soon, but as the season goes on and I continue
to see them make the same mistakes over and over again, then yes, it is on the coach.
For now folks, give them a little time to find their groove, it may take 5 to 10 games to do so.

the same thing, going from college to pro, you have to get used to the speed
of the game. Everyone is faster, stronger and bigger, of course depending on which sport.
A lot of Caitlin's turnovers were from passes that she is used to doing in college that worked.
Tonight most of them did not get through, but, granted, it did look like that the Sun was
