I have a dumb question: If a use a several layers to create a fusion comp, enter in timeline, I can adjust times, etc. But, If I enter this timeline to add a little more layers, It wont appear in fusion anymore. Is there a video to solve this?
I'm 49 yr old noob who loves video editing and would love to make a career out of it, couldn't afford Premiere, switched to Resolve and was completely overwhelmed until I found this channel, now it's step by step, re-watching, trying, re-watching, trying over and over. I love how Resolve has everything in one software as opposed to Adobe suite. Have fun and enjoy!
This is good stuff. I've seen commenters to various YT videos mention they lost their Fusion edit in switching Resolve pages. In my inexperience, I figured they probably neglected to do a "Save" command of some kind after the Fusion edit before returning to the Edit page. Nah- now that I've watched this video, that would be way too simple a solution. Natcherly 🤣it is way more involved than that! Casey, once I get into Fusion edits I'm going to remember you alerted me to this situation and I will be prepared. No, really, I'm going to remember this! Thank you.
I'm sure you answered his question, but what I found weird was selecting the fusion comp on the timeline, clicking the Fusion tab and there were no nodes. What I was doing wrong here was that the playhead wasn't over the Fusion comp in the timeline, so the Fusion tab was based on where my playhead was.
That's actually just my understanding of the question mentioned at the start of this video. You also figured out the right solution so good job. Another way to get back to the Fusion you were working on, without touching the playhead, is to right click on a Fusion clip/composition and click on "Open in Fusion page".
yep its where the playhead is located is the active Clip it'll open in fusion via just clicking the Fusion icon as @ThrRip has said, also in situations where u have layered clips it'll choose the TOP Clip, so u may have a Fusion comp Under some other clip (Media, Adj Layer, Text, etc) you have to just right click the Clip that has the Wand icon on the clip
@@grahamfjlaws6108 Make sure the play head is on the clip that you want to adjust, left click on the clip so it knows that's the clip you want and not the main clip under it. Then hit fusion on the bottom of the screen,
Another possibility is that you clicked on a clip and then the Fusion tab. You set up your composition with many nodes. You go back to the timeline and later decide to make that clip into a fusion comp by right clicking on the clip and selecting make Fusion clip. You then go to the Fusion page and there is just a Media in and a Media out node but on the timeline, you comp looks complete. You have to open in timeline to get to the original clip and then go to the Fusion page and there are all your nodes.
Awesome video, I'm still level 1 in the Fusion section but now I know when I inevitably run into this issue. I agree, there are no dumb questions, we may feel it's dumb from our pov, even I do when asking, but there is always someone else out there with the same question. I love this segment 'dumb questions', Thank you as always
Hi Casey, I created two Timelines for a travel video. On Timeline Two, I imported some photos to tag at the end of my video. Somehow, the video is locked now! It is grayed out and I am unable to do any further edits. Any help would be great thank you. By the way, I'm a newbie in DaVinci. Paul.
Thanks Casey! Really helpful. Do you have a video explaining the difference a fusion composition and a fusion clip? I noticed you can open one in a timeline but not the other. Are there any other differences?
Sorry if this has been discussed already but I’m having a stressful time, I just made a tracking screen replacement in fusion and it doesn’t show up in my timeline in edit or color, or even deliver page. It only shows the original footage. Do you know how I can correct this? Desperate
Thank you for these videos. I've just started dabbling in Resolve. To extend from this topic, let's say I design a lower third in Fusion, then make use of it all over an edit with different text content for each, but then I decide later I wish to, say, change the background color for all lower thirds. In that case, I would guess putting it into a compound clip would not work because I'd want the text different still. What would be the best approach for this scenario?
Every time I modify a clip in Fusion, the clip that lives in the Media Bin is also modified. I can't get back to an unmodified copy. Am I just not scrolling the bin enough? Is there really an unmodified copy somewhere? Help!
Hi Casey Why have I got black background when go into the edit page I have my jokes going into a mediaIn I was doing a cinamatic title on top of a video clip.
I have a really dumb one. How do I increase the fusion timeline? It only gives me 120 frames, no matter how long the clip is! Any advice would be helpful.

In the ''dumb question'' category...I need dumb help. I'm editing a 360 clip in fusion and I'm using a Template for a title (in 360 normal title on the timeline gets distorted). But when I apply my title to my fusion clip (which is on a timeline with other clips) my title keep appearing till the end of my timeline. Any Idea what I'm doing wrong ? Cheers good people of UA-cam !
I don't know if it already got asked, but I'm a little shaky on when to do stuff in fusion directly on the track or when to add a fusion comp. Obviously the fusion comp you can't see the underlying video to do tracking or anything, but it gets hard if you are trying to match things up or re-use the same little in-and-out multiple times during the video.
@@MFoster392 Thanks for the advice. I think my question may not have been clear. When you add a fusion comp you get only a Media Out node and cannot see the video while you are in Fusion. If you don't add a fusion comp and just go into the fusion page you get media in and media out, and can see the video, but your comp is embedded in the video - you can't really see where it is or move it easily. You also can't really duplicate it and add it somewhere else, making a little change, as this entire fusion page exists for the length of the clip.
Leaving in those little ending clips that most UA-camrs would simply cut out just to maintain "professionalism" is what makes you memorable and keeps me coming back. Keep up the good work.
How do you click'n'drag to move the fusion comp workspace around? I keep wanting to hold the space bar to do it (a la Illustrator) but obviously the space bar presses play here.
Second time within the space of a couple of hours I've heard the "elephant... one bite at a time" comment... So obviously there's been a glitch in the Matrix.
I have a dumb question. When I have still images, videos and use transform (zoom, X, Y etc) with keystones to have a resize or zoom over time the thing I apply these things to stutter. It is very easy to see on the edges as they are not smooth. Can anyone help me or is there a video regarding this? To add, even dynamic zoom has this problem. I have tested some different frame rates but that does not work

His video on Fusion is just magic, but it must be watched in one shot, to grasp everything as it should. It's worth the time.

You could split it into parts, make it two layers basically. Gotta plan that ahead I guess.
