- Welcome and join Alex and Jeff as we walk with you through Princess Cruises, Emerald Princess cruise ship. The Emerald Princess is a Crown-Class cruise ship. Our sailing was around the British Isles so we did not spend too much time on the pool deck even though the pool was very well heated and jacuzzi tubs were also comfortable. Princess is known as being a "relaxing" brand without a lot of frills, but still maintaining plenty of amenities for teens and children. Alex (6 years old) had a great time and made a number of friends (as he does on every sailing) as did Krys and me. The SkyWalker lounge up top offers indoor seating with amazing views.
PLEASE NOTE: I use the term "Centrum" when referring to the indoor center of the ship, the correct term is "Piazza". I apologize for this error and any confusion it may cause.

Decks 5, 6, and 7 midship are called the Piazza on Princess ships. The Centrum can be found on Royal Caribbean ships.

We are on this ship for the LA to Miami through panama cruise in april 23. Its exactly same as the ruby (with exception of a restaurant at the aft section). Ruby princess was very nice and just the right amount of capacity for us, so we booked the Emerald this time around.
Really enjoyed the video. Will be on the Emerald next January for minimum 30 days and hopefully will get to see everything. Again Thanks very informative.

Where is the smoking sections on this ship?
Hello, outside there is a smoking are by the Tradewinds bar and also in the casino.
Thanks for the ship review. We are on that ship on August 13 for British Isles and again for the Panama Canal in April I know that some ships allow smoking on the outdoor promenade; do you remember if this ship had smoking on that deck? We are booking a balcony on deck 8 or 9 forward for Panama Canal and are very sensitive to smoke. I would like to be sure to book on the side where there is no smoking below me.
There is a cigar smoking room and outdoors there is a designated smoking area. Enjoy your cruises, we loved the British Isles and the Panama Canal! Happy Cruising!!

I was on this ship at the same time as you! What stop did you dislike and like the most? For me i really hated newcastle, and i think the best stop was Edinborough
Awesome, Great Cruise! We loved Dublin since we know the town. Our favorite was definitely Edinburgh as well. The shuttle was convenient and dropped us right in the middle of town. Very friendly people, so much to see and overall a great place! Our least favorite was in La Harve. We took the bus tour into Paris (long day) and the experience was less than enjoyable. Everything from the undercooked chicken lunch to the tour guide who had a poor attitude with several people on our bus. We had no time anywhere with exception of an hour at the Eiffel Tower. We have spent time in several areas in France and never had a great time. Thanks for your comment and happy cruising!

Unfortunately we did have a change of plans. My spouse is in need of a kidney transplant. He had one about 14 years ago and it is gradually beginning to fail. So he was afraid to go on a cruise that far out so we ended up canceling it and we're going to be back on Oceania again in a couple of weeks. So far the kidney seems to be still pretty much holding its own but obviously we know what the outcome will be and he is on the transplant list. We do have full insurance in the event that he gets the call just before the cruise that was the main reason we changed this one back to Oceania. Still as much as we do love Oceania I would have really enjoyed the round the Caribbean cruise cuz we've done that before on celebrity when they used to do it. The food on princess is mediocre at best compared to what Oceania is like Oceania is like eating at a five-star restaurant every night. The culinary director is Jacques Pepin. So if you've heard of him you have an idea of what the food quality is.

Same here! I used the Dark Sky app time machine option to see what the future weather predictions are. I came up with about 55F-65F from Dublin to Edinburgh. 60F-70F for all other ports. Hope that helps with packing!
We got lucky, the last day from La Have, France across the channel was the only rainy day. It was cool (light jacket weather). Our cruise was in June. Happy Cruising!!

I noticed your room is near what looks like a hallway "door" on the deck plans. I want a similar room and wondered if that door ever opened and closed or if it stayed open....also was there noise? thanks
Hello, The hallway doors are fire doors and NORMALLY remain open. Our room had minimal noise and we enjoyed the ship.

Do we need to pay extra to use the gym? Is there a sauna? Free use?
The fitness center is included and there is a sauna that is also available. Enjoy!
Is the Medallion thing required? I don’t want to be tracked everywhere I go.
The medallion takes the place of the old card. It is your room key and room charge as well as for disembarking and embarking. Every Princess ship is going this way. They work very well, but the phone app is not so great! Happy cruising!
only time we had experience of tracking was a good thing and that was when we ordered drinks and they delivered to you anywhere on the ship, especially drinks to your room. I like how you use the medallion when checking you back on board from a trip as well, it was super easy and quick.
Does anyone know if the doors are magnetic so doors decorations can be hanged?
Scotch tape. Would be a good idea to pack in your suitcase

They are! we use magnets, but as another viewer mentioned, you may use tape as long as the resin is able to be removed.
Vacation is getting away from. Why stay on a beach with 1,000 people on it when you can be on a beach with 13 people on it why go on a ship with 10,000 people on it. No thank you.
Cruising is a fantastic method of taking a vacation. What other method is there where you wake each morning at a different location? The Emerald Princess has a capacity of 3,080 guests. With the size ship she is, there is plenty of room for everyone to relax and enjoy the ship. I would LOVE to hear about the Princess ship that has 10,000 people aboard, would love to experience a ship comparable to an Oasis-Class ship! Thank you for watching and Happy Cruising!

Ireland is not a British Isle. The Majority of Ireland lies mainly in Irish Territorial waters not British Territorial waters. The Majority of citizens on the Island of Ireland are Irish citizens not British citizens.
Correct, Ireland is an EU country and the citizens are NOT British. The name of this cruise route is the British Isles as Northern Ireland shares the same land mass as Ireland, but is a part of the UK and in the same geographic region. Please feel free to contact Princess Cruises with your concern as I am just a passenger aboard their ship.
This is a terrible video. You didn't even show the whole ship...cigar lounge, spa?
Please view the video again beginning at 6:49 as I walk through the Lotus Spa located on deck 16. At 15:45 I clearly explain I am unable to walk through the Gatsby's Casino due to it being in operation, which is where the Speakeasy Cigar Lounge is located. My videos as as thorough as possible to allow each viewer to see the ship and answer questions they may have. Happy Cruising!
