      Mate I've been splitting the ends to open up and tape pool noodles to doors around the house and on the sand filled stand up bag thing. And have a wee bag of rocks hanging from the roof (teaches you to switch on or you get a bag of rocks in the coupon). Brilliant for practicing slips and rolls. Sorry in advance if you've already done this budget training tip but if not I'd love to see you do something similar. 50p for a pool noodle from Lidl and rocks from the back garden. Cheap as chips to keep fit.

    I've actually practiced this with reflex ball (the ones you tie to your forehead with the elastic), although it's not much good for power, it's good for timing and footwork (a very small target moving very quickly).

    I tried it today on the heavy bag before sparring with a shorter guy pressure fighter, at the second or third attempt i landed the lead hook clean in his chin, he felt it and stopped closing the distance, at the last round he was not advancing anymore and I was shooting combos on him without being countered, thanks so much, i will try it over and over to master it

    Rewatching this after a year and I'm still loving that punch of yours at the end. I wonder if your opponent would have had better success if instead of pulling his elbow up he had just punched straight from his body. Your reactions were spot on as usual. With the extra time of him flapping his elbow out, you pulled back perfectly just out of range and then popped him with that sweet hook. Beautiful.

      @@Leadfoot_P71 I remember two coaches who didn't like it. One gave the reason that your taking the power off your hook because your moving the opposite way.
      Which I'm pretty sure is wrong...the right side of your body is moving the opposite way in a exaggerated way
      But the hook is on the pivot in.

    • @jjjos
      @jjjos Рік тому

      Yeah same. If it feels awkward I’m not sure it’ll ever work, you could improve but just don’t feel you’d ever get it to a usable level in real sparring even. Everything I’ve got good (ish) at has felt natural from the start, then drilled. Such as my left hook always felt good. But my right hook never has, I can throw it but it’s never going to be like my left hook. So, I’d say play around with everything but really I think it’s best to keep the natural feeling moves and really develop and perfect those, and almost forget the rest, just my opinion

    Cuban / Soviet Style that hook is completely different. I think their version is better, any ideas why this one is better? They put the weight on the front foot on the pivot and hit it, and stay in a more squared position and then they reset the back foot (there are different ways of resenting that back foot after, depending on what you want to do next). On your "real example" you kinda hit when the front foot lands and not when the back foot lands, like you explained on the video
