  • This mountain climbing adventure was a visually spectacular, intimidating yet easy class 3 Hike & Scramble up to 13,482' in the very scenic area just south of Red Mountain Pass on the Million Dollar highway between Ouray and Silverton Colorado. DJI Drone documented route and 360 camera summit climbing perspectives. It was COOL!

That was really good, Karl! Excellent production from the videography to the narration. Kind of painful to watch as it would have been great to personally experience this one with you. Take care!

My doors are always open Brother, there are MANY awesome trips we could do here in CO. Some of the hikes in Rocky Mountain NP included, some of those cirques are breathtaking but you may have to wait on me a bit so I can crank some solo climb action. I'm sure the flowers and waterfalls could keep you busy. We could go backpacking and get a campsite too if you wanted. I could support you with some gear for one!

Awesome, I'll do my best not to disappoint. Winter will be challenging in the high peaks! I'll be doing some cool desert stuff too, towers and canyons. I just got back from Moab with Amrerica's Parks, see below, and we did a COOL artistic tour shoot in the Fisher Towers. I'll be uploading that soon to give you an idea. You look darn strong yourself. Are you in CO?

My memory is very vague on this one. A direct approach like what you did was stormed out. Several years later the approach was taking the saddle to the left (north) and then coming up the Blue Lake (west) side. I don't recall any problem complete with Golden Retrievers. Probably a scramble to the summit but again I really can't recall. Of course I don't recall much of ANYTHING some 30+ years later.
Again contact me the next time in the San Juans and I will be more than happy to bore you with endless tales of my "glory days".

I will let you know when I’m headed out, I will definitely be spending sometime there! Aside from the horn and the knob, I’m hoping to do a backcountry trip up Wham Ridge and I think include electric peak? I’m curious if you’ve checked out that area, I bet you have!

I've done Wham about 3 times as a scramble but I was never the lead so it was a matter of seeing what the person if front of me did. I looked down a couple of times between my legs and I saw Jesus saying come home to me. As I noted in an earlier post I can't imagine a downclimb without some long rappels. The back (south) side is a terrible loose gully followed by a short but rough class 5 into the saddle between West Trinity & Vestal. Again I did not lead so I'm not sure what I did.
I did Electric just as a side piece on the way to Mt Garfield (and Point Pun...) and I don't recall any details. Mt Garfield by the way is the very hardest mountain I have ever done and well worth the exertion. No route guide, no carins, nobody to follow (gets climbed maybe 3 times a year) and a complicated route with extreme exposure. In short, true mountaineering.
Of course the Trinity Traverse (complete with mini Wham on West Trinity) and Arrow is a lot of fun although I had THE PRIMORDIAL QUESTION up there.. While I love climbing maybe this is life threatening. Like I said a lot of fun.
