Utah's Fiery Furnace | Hiking MAZE in Arches National Park! [Cinematic 4K]
I think from the summit pano you see Longs to the north, with the Indian Peak area just this side of it. Near the end of the video I think I spied (from left to right), Evans/Blue Sky, Bierstadt/Sawtooth, then Grays and Torreys, and perhaps Pettingel.
I love seeing them all with fond memories, I have a video for all of those, and many more. Cheers
Karl, your videos are always of such high quality and spectacularly entertaining. Much appreciated!
Damn Karl you've done it again! I really enjoyed this film. Those towers are so much more impressive up close and personnel. I've only seen it from Kebler Pass and Mill Creek rd. and are beautiful from a distance but wow these are craggy, fin and hoodoos of a different nature than I have experienced before. To bad it is so crumbly and dangerous as I feel compelled to go in there but I probably would not fair very well. Great drone footage also while showing those tall narrow and curved fins. Just amazing area! Thanks for the ride and see you in another one!
@@michaelwood3477 thanks buddy! I was as delighted as you are, I had no idea they were that ginormous! And I didn’t expect to see hoodoos at all, who knew?
Shaking the fillings out of the back teeth 🦷 on some of that ride! Looks like a good bit of fun with phenomenal views!
Amazing place, luckily that bike has enduro suspension, definitely takes the sting out. It has really rekindled my love for riding the rough stuff.
@ That’s Great 😀. You’re living your best life, Karl!
Hi Karl. I am a subscriber for a long time now. Would you be able to share the route? I will be in Las Vegas in April and want to explore the area. My favorite video was when you did an amazing rappel at Capitol Reef NP. I really enjoy your videos
Hey Karl! Glad to see you are still kickin! I did the poison spider back in the late 80’s. Didn’t have go pro’s or drones back then. Nice filming… paragliding any more? It’s been 7 years for me. I do ride my specialized carbon fiber ebike a lot but been into motorcycles lately. Give me a call sometime, number is still the same. Peace ✌🏻
“WOW WOW WOW”! you “WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW”! me just epic
One of the most informative, creative, and well edited videos on this hike. Beautifully captured! Nice job thanks for you work on this.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Hopefully it'll help you with your trip.
Really like your videos but it will be hard to allow you in our home around the kids droppin "s" bombs.
This crumbly crust (cryptobiotic) prevents the soil underneeth from erosion, it is worth protecting it by walking on existing paths or solid rock.
I could not agree more about protecting the Cryto but, that soil was pure Bentonite Clay and there was zero life on it. In fact, that's why it was eroding like crazy. I have shared your same message here on the channel when I am near cryptobiotic soil, it looks like little gray castles, and I do my best to protect it as well. Cheers Karl
That was crazy!😀👍
Yeah it was a pretty wild ride, Glad you enjoyed it!
Epic footage capture! What a bada$$ both of you!!
Great place for a camera that's for sure. Thanks for checking it out.
What an adventure Karl! Breathtaking scenery plus the rush of challenging riding. Nice work!! 🎉
It’s a great way to see it all, the Moab area is packed with thrilling adventure and I love it! Cheer
No words BRO !! Absolutely fantastic 🙂
Thank you so much 😀
Dang Karl that was incredible! Such a crazy adventure ride. You guys are so skilled on your ebikes. I wouldn't dare. I have trouble just hiking in Poison Spider area. What is the wattage of your ebikes? They seem to do great on the lips and tables not to say you aren't working your butts off. The only thing I wanted more of was more of the scenery of course you were with someone else as well as I know the kick butt joy to conquer the next obstacle with super adrenaline coursing through the system. Great ride man! Gets me wanting to get out and do something. In the foothills of CO where I live its just snow and more snow. Got Moab on the brain. Have you ever tried to find a doable route through the front or mid sections of Behind the Rocks? Beautiful area but difficult to navigate. Thanks sir!
I'm not sure on the Wattage but it is the Standard Bosch motor on a really nice Enduro rig, an Orbea WIld. . Honestly, I wanted to shoot more too but it really came down to doing it on a short January day and starting after it was above freezing, 9AM. I started E-biking on the front range in winter just so I could get out. . . I went ok but in GJ, I ride almost all the time. Mr Wood! I am currently editing a video where the Behind the Rocks fins tried to trap me at every turn! Even I was surprised to hit both of my objectives, I also literally ran out of there fearing the darkness of another short day! Cheers Buddy
@@KarlDeckerPresents Thanks for getting back. Can't wait to see your Behind the Rocks film! I just love the look of that area. It is gnarly and so enticing an area. I say this even though my adventures there have been minimal due to the complexity and complications. I know you will do great with it! Best!
Always enjoy watching your videos. This one and the last one has me really wanting to try biking some of these 4X4 trails.
Generally on 4X4 trails I like the E-bike for those endless steep sections Though I did ride MAG 7, some of the same stuff. . . a couple months ago on my Hightower, human power bike, that's where I got the Thumbnail shot from. EPIC and was doable. Just make sure you have the right gear and some solid cardio! I’ve crashed a few times, Ouch X2.
Some spectacular scenery, I'm going to have to spend some more time in that area.
You’re gonna love it there, there are so many hidden gems! It pays to do your homework to hit them all!
Very beautiful! A least I got to see it through your lens. Too much for my old legs. Thanks for sharing!😀👍
I'm glad you enjoyed the scenery, it was a challenging one for me, too!
Awesome climb and great video -- really fun to watch. I did it roped 20 years ago and always wondered what free solo would be like.
One of my all time favorite routes!
Your videos are great, Karl. I've been to many of these places, and now many more are on my list. As if my list wasn't already long enough!
Thanks, you’re lucky to have a great long list, so many cool things ahead. You’re gonna love it! Go Big
Pretty outstanding video! I've watched several sawtooth videos but they're always from Bierstadt to Evans, I've never seen Evans to Bierstadt. My wife and I are planning an August 2025 trip and Bierstadt is on the list for our first 14er. I'd love to do the sawtooth but some of the down climbing and the crux make me pretty apprehensive. We've done one Class 3 in Shenandoah National Park at Old Rag Mountain's rock scramble which is about a mile of rocks and boulders but not near the exposure.
The Class 3 sections are not exposed but there is plenty of ledge walking with BIG exposure. The further onto the Abys lake side you stay the easier the scrambling is. Either way, unless you set up a PITA shuttle you'll have to do it both ways. It is quite the workout to do it out and back even in good condtions. I was totally beat in snow ice and with the extra peak tossed in. The best maybe just park at Evans, start the out and back and just turn back whenever you feel nervous. Just the 1/2 mile to West Evans peak is pretty cool and way less crowed! Cheers!
Amazing, Karl !! 🙂
Beautiful scenery, thank you for bringing it to my screen. Very well done all around.
Glad you enjoyed it! I was really happy with how it turned out.
Even though I’m not a fan of crowds, you have me convinced to do this hike. Just stunning!! Might have to take a day off during the work week or go early on the weekend. Thanks for sharing these beautiful places.
It is definitely worth the trip, you won't be disappointed! I was just across the Canyon last Friday and saw No one there at around 1PM. I was surprised. Cheers, Karl
I'm planning to hike some of these 14ers this year. Another beautiful trail and a brilliant video, Karl 😀
Loved this one, very beautiful but, make sure access is open. I know it was closed for awhile.
Hey Karl, really enjoy your channel, and the way you journey through these adventures. Fun stuff. Appreciate your style of exploration, and it's something I hope to do more of. I've been traveling to southern/eastern Utah and southwest Colorado from the east coast about monthly over the past year, and am considering moving out there permanently, considering Grand Junction, Moab, Kanab. Hard to decide where along the sliding scale of civilization vs access to wilderness is best. Any advice as far as where to set up a home base, given the sorts of things you're into? Cheers man.
I went through the same thing while escaping Denver but, since I’d already visited many many epic places around Grand Junction the choice was obvious. That said, I’m not in love with GJ and am on a small ranch near Fruita. Fruita is the best of the little towns in the Grand valley and growing fast. And you still have GJ for REÍ, BEST BUY, SAMˋS restaurants and I 70 is key. I hope you come out, my best MTB buddy found me on UA-cam like this and then moved out here. Now he’s 3 miles away and he LOVES it here like me. Hopefully it goes like that with you. Contact me privately if you need advice, I’ve bought a couple rentals here and they are doing well.
@@KarlDeckerPresents Thanks! Very helpful, appreciate it. And will do.
I've been to both of those spires. One is called "Angel of Death". I always thought the names were backwards, the first one you visited looks more like the "long dong silver" than the other one. Is that fence new? We were there a couple of years ago and I don't remember the fence, we just drove out to both spires (in an appropriate vehicle). Yes you definitely don't want to be in that mushy stuff if it rains, and I'm always amazed at how much it does rain in that area. I've been there numerous times when it rains and it gets very slick. One day we drove out Kane Creek canyon road past the Pritchet trailhead and Kane Creek road was just soup. I was south of Moab one time pretty far out on a dirt road and I woke up at 4:00 in the morning with it raining. I didin't want to wait until it got slick so I immediately packed up and drove out.
It did look like a new fence, the rain noise freaks me out out there. I can't imagine getting stuck in the winter with freezing mud stuck everywhere! Definitely best of rough for your life, lol
That is definitely a serious 4WD trail, don't try it in any automobile unless it is highly modified.
And somewhat. . .expendable, lol, one of the hardest rated in the Moab area!
Your video is very beautiful and engaging. As a fellow creator, I appreciate your hard work behind it. Sub & 👍106
Thank you, I appreciate that and I’m glad you enjoy the videos! Hopefully they'll give you some cool ideas for your videos. Cheers, Karl
Fantastic job. Love the maps, drone shots, and the hike. I have wanted to visit the Maze for over 50 yrs, maybe my adult children could be interested in this fabulous slot canyon
That's awesome! I hope they're interested, it would be a great trip! There are more attractions in the area as well making it more worth the long rough drive.
@@KarlDeckerPresents I am so impressed with your video. Very hard to beat.
I get that you are trying to turn your passion into a living but ultimately the places themselves will bear the cost. Gunnison county is overrun with an unsustainable volume of visitors and ultra wealthy 2nd/3rd/4th homeowners.. Locals are being forced from their homes by the massively increasing costs, and the damage to the surroundings due to overuse year by year is painful to watch, Perhaps consider approaching it like Desert Drifter who more often than not does not disclose locations? I am not saying we should try to prevent anyone from visiting, but maybe we can control the flood gates a little?
I just recently discovered your videos and I’m really enjoying the depth and detail of your work. I will be heading from Ohio to Horseshoe Canyon in March of 25. I was wondering what photo gear and drone do you use? See you on the trail!
Just an i phone, go pro and Mini 4 pro DJI Drone when I can. I hope my trips give you some great adventure ideas!
Awesome Adventure...Moab is even better without crowds! What brand of E-Bike is that?
I only saw that pair of jeeps all day. The bike is a 2017 Specialized Turbo Levo but I just upgraded to the Orbea Wild M10, longer travel enduro. Great time to buy bikes. I got a huge discount.
I don't understand why you don't have a ton more of subscribers. The use of the different angles with drone, maps, showing us exactly where it is absolutely 1st class. I became fascinated with this area back in the 70's accumulating books, maps, one is 4 by7 of canyonlands. Now in my 70's you make it possible to see these areas in detail that I could only dream about. From Tennessee always wanted to live out there but just couldn't, so I visited a few times. I understand you live near Grand Junction which is the best place to be to see all this which is more affordable than Moab. Once again, thanks
I really appreciate you taking the time to share your story with me, it means a lot! It’s a special place out there and I’m glad I can take you with, honestly, for most, you will actually see more from my videos, especially with the drone, I often make discoveries while I'm viewing the drone footage once I get home! I love Grand Junction, it's getting more expensive fast but, I'm in!
Loving this channel ❤️
Very well done, truly 😊
Thanks! I was really excited about surviving this one, LOL. It was intense on the cables!
WOW! That was pretty special!😀😀😀😀😀👍👍👍👍👍
Yeah it’s definitely a stunner, I keep getting surprised just how much Moab has to offer! Cheers Buddy!
God, the spectacularity never ends. I wonder if anyone has inventoried and counted all the arches of greater Moab?
I think so, if I remember correctly, it's some sort of, "arch society. " I was really pleased to find this area!
Fantastic !! 🙂
Thank you! Cheers!
Another pretty amazing solo undertaking, appreciative of your dedication to document these for all of us 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it, I really loved the variety of this area.
Nice! Last year I drove my Jeep around from the Behind the Rocks trail so we could hike to Pritchett Arch, but we didn't have time to see the others. I've really been wondering what they're like, so awesome to see them in this video.
I'm glad you got a chance to see it all! I was definitely grateful. Taking the canyon would've been scary any vehicle, including the E bike lol.
@@KarlDeckerPresents Indeed. My Jeep can handle most trails in Moab but it's not near built enough for that one.
Best trip yet. Views were amazing. Moab has endless adventures. I rode motorcycle from central KY to Montana then Utah and camped on Colorado River near where your adventure started.
That sounds like an epic trip! It’s a special place and nobody was there when I went.
👍
Gonna have to check this one out!
you'll be glad you did, just be prepared for some seriously rough road, if you can call it a rode.
Beautiful arches! Makes one kinda feel inspired and awe struck. Looks like you’re getting your money’s worth out of the e-Bike also!
That e-bike definitely helps get to these remote areas! I love it so much, I just got a new Enduro style, they're giving away bikes these days. I got a great deal.
@ Excellent!
Simply amazing! Thanks for posting this one Karl, makes me wanna jet over there immediately! 💯😀✌🏻
I hope you can make it before spring, that's when more gets swarmed. It's a really amazing place. Cheers!
@KarlDeckerPresents We shall see... 🤙🏻✌🏻
What a beautiful canyon with endless fins. I was wondering how difficult that trail would be on e-bike/hike and now I know it’s too much for me. Pretty dang good on your e-bike. Didn’t know you had that high ability to traverse tough terrain on a bike. Man of many talents sir! Enjoyed immensely! Thanks!!
Thank you Michael! I've been riding bikes in the dirt since I can remember and real, actively, as a matter fact, I crashed one yesterday. Lol minimal. damage. I just got done with another trip deeper in those fins in that same area and it was very complicated and beautiful, you'll see it soon.
@ can’t wait for the deeper fins film!
Super Karl !!! 🙂
Amazing BRO !! 🙂
Very interesting hike/climb to the Grotto. Excellent drone footage. Thanks!
Yeah, the Grotto is a cool spot, thanks for watching! Karl
