I had a mini-stroke age 68 and was diagnosed with diabetes. I was prescribed 1,000 mg Metformin. The Doctor gave me 10 seconds to be aware of gastric side effects. The side effects were horrible. I restarted at a very low dose and took several months yes several months to titrate or get used to it. That worked so take your time as you will have diabetes for a long time.! Went to a low carb diet and lost 40 pounds 195 lb to 155 lb. That did the trick and am now pre-diabetic. The metformin works and oddly I rarely get sick now. Good luck.
My side effects were so severe, I was up in the middle of the night feeling like death in my bathroom. My doctor put me in 1000 mg a day IMMEDIATELY after diagnosing me. My results have been terrible because I completely stopped taking the medication, I’m going to start taking only 500 mg a day now. Spilt the tab in two and take one with breakfast and the other with dinner! Thank so much for this video!!!

Did medicinal keto for two years. This last year I’ve gone back to eating a small amount of carbs. Maybe 50 to 75 grams a day. Check my blood sugar, blood pressure every day and my Keytone levels every two or three days. Everything is perfectly normal. I’m 68 and come from a family that has diabetes on both sides. Once I became insulin sensitive again it was like starting again in my 20s. Will never go back to eating as much carbs as I did in my youth. Lost 35 pounds, I’m at the weight I was in my 20s, i lost 6 inches off my waist, blood pressure in the morning is 108/64 almost like clockwork. And another major benefit was acid reflux I’ve been suffering with for two decades disappeared in the second week of doing keto. Haven’t even had heartburn in three years. No drugs necessary. Change your diet.
I am doing intermittent fasting and taking metformin at night 850mg after dinner. I have headaches in the morning but I guess that's coz I don't eat in the morning and my sugar is low... I'm told to take it 2x a day, but I'm already losing weight and lowering my sugar from fasting.

I have been taking 500mg extended release in the a.m. and 1000mgs in the evening. I also take other medication for my type 2 diabetes. I feel really lucky for no side effects
I’ve been on metforrmin for two months. I take 500 milligrams twice a day as prescribed by my doctor, and it’s done really great for me with no side effects. My numbers tend to stay in the 80 s and 90 s.

So far it seems to be working better than how my Doctor told me to take them...as a matter of fact i had stop taking them because they were making me sick and i told my doctor and he stated take half still didn't work so i speak with him again to reduce my dosage or give me another type nothing... so just in the few days that I've been trying your way...so far so good...plus ive always ate healthy worked out a lot because I'm a athlete I played a lot of sports when I was younger I am 57 years of age now and I still workout not as much as I used to 10 15 minutes a day if that but I try to get something in... will keep you updated... It worked great for me for 6 years, then all of a sudden I became allergic to it, the doctor told me it happens to a lot of people after taking it for a while :-(

I wish this wasn’t stuck behind the counter! I don’t have diabetes but it has the potential to delay most age related diseases in humans! There is multiple benefits of taking metformin.
My diabetes specialist just increased my dose so hoping going from 1 to 2 that the side effects I am experiencing will diminish in a couple weeks because the second dose is really helping with my sugar levels. I have worken myself and spouse up from the explosive gas since going to two pills. Note that my diabetes specialist said nothing works as good on Type II diabetes as making diet and exercise changes, and losing weight, all of which I am working on and seeing some success; but Metformin is really helping with sugar levels until I get there naturally, wild side effects notwithstanding.

Nice video but metformin makes me feel like I've got the flu. I feel lethargic and dizzy and I just want to go to bed. My heart races and my brain is scattered. I told the GP and he changed it to prolonged released but no difference. Then he gave me slow release insulin injections which gave me hypos and then empagliflozin which also gave me hypos. So now I'm trying diet and exercise but it's a struggle and my sugar levels are in the 20's.
I've been taking it for 2 weeks now, 1000mg in the morning and 1000 mg in the evening, no one told me about any side effects of this drug, but luckily I haven't had any. Am I past the point of having them? It is the normal release, not the extended release.

I was prescribed Metformin. Starting with 500mg in the morning. But my bowel is really struggling through the day. It's so unpleasant. So I'm going to switch to even meal. That makes so much more sense. Thanks
I just started today and I took it with my breakfast. For week 1 I only take 1 pill daily and then it builds up after that. I’m prediabetic and I’ve been having a hard time trying to lose weight. I’m hoping to get my health back on track with my low carb diet and walking!
On my last lab my a1c was normal 5.6. And my doctor reduced my Metformin from 2000mg a day to 1000mg. I found that it was causing burning in my chest and problems with my fingers. I'm thinking 1000mg is to much now because my Gl: is 101 and A1c is normal. This was because I lost 20lb and I'm thinking this stuff is making things worse.
Hello, my mother, who is 85, has been on this drug about 10 days 2 x 850 mg tablets a day. The doctor has taken her off it today because of her nausea and sickness. She had her last tablet about 13 hours ago. Do you have any idea how long it will take to get out of her system? Or how long will sickness continue? She's still being sick now and has hardly eaten in the last four days. She has also now developed delirium. Thanks.

How are you so productive don't you get tired? How do you manage your current lifestyle? I need motivation to get out of my bed. Amazing video by the way wish you would have made it 3 months ago when I started on these.
I just love what I do and it gives me the motivation and drive to keep on doing it. Maybe I shall do a video on being productive :) Thanks for the comment shame it's too late hopefully more people will see the video who are starting metformin.

I have found that taking it with food reduces diahorea considerably. So I usually take it half way through my meal with some water. I have to take it due to cysts on my ovaries. I take one tablet in morning and evening - 1000mg. I also take a B12 supplement every day
I have been on and off this medication over the past year I stop taking it because I feel severely depressed while taking like suicidal I’ve gone off it and it goes away, my doctor says this medication doesn’t cause depression so I go back on it and same thing! I’m not taking any other medications only multi vitamins! I am having heart pain now because this is making me have so much anxiety I don’t know why this is causing me to feel this way or why I feel this way on this medication and why I’m the only one

I was prescribed Metformin. Starting with 500mg in the morning. But my bowel is really struggling through the day. It's so unpleasant. So I'm going to switch to even meal. That makes so much more sense. Thanks
Sir metformin should be taken before or after food?
I just started today and I took it with my breakfast. For week 1 I only take 1 pill daily and then it builds up after that. I’m prediabetic and I’ve been having a hard time trying to lose weight. I’m hoping to get my health back on track with my low carb diet and walking!
Make sure to have your cortisol levels checked, endogenous cushing's syndrome is quite frequent
Good advice
I'm prediabetic as well. Have you noticed results?
I wanted to know it I can use it for PCOS even though I don’t have diabetes and this cleared it up for me. Thank you.
What should I do when I take this medicine I felt my breast feel pain??
It is harmful medicine or not I was so scared.??
The content is great, but the many camera movements and the view from below and top is very annoying and un comfortable
Can I take this medicine for weight loss ? I am not diabetic patient. If l can, then please suggest me the doses. Thanks.
Been on Metformin for around 20 years. 500 mg id then tid after a while. Works well for me. A1c always below 6.0
Thanks for sharing, sending awesome vibes :)
*I'm not even diabetic, 23 years old but my doctor has prescribed me metformin for weight loss!*
*should I take it or not? *
Whats the most common dose prescribed?
Hello, my mother, who is 85, has been on this drug about 10 days 2 x 850 mg tablets a day. The doctor has taken her off it today because of her nausea and sickness. She had her last tablet about 13 hours ago. Do you have any idea how long it will take to get out of her system? Or how long will sickness continue? She's still being sick now and has hardly eaten in the last four days. She has also now developed delirium. Thanks.
How to stop taking it ? What could be the side effects if we stop ?? Are we prone to diabetes if we discontinue metformin??

Is metformin could caused damage on kidneys
I am on day two for weight loss and not diabetes. My first morning I had sweet taste in mouth. The second day I was very hungry tonight. But I have only started with one pill and not two left.
@@AbrahamThePharmacist 5 years later but i have been on the fence since January and today i decided i will take my first dose ..i chopped my pills in half because being a truck driver i dont want to subject myself to any of the god awful symptoms at once…i started at 325 this morning after a fasting test so i know it was time ..hopefully this goes well for me
Pls How can I tell if its immediate release and slow release
My doctor prescribed me 500mg two a day. I started just one day for now. I usually take more holistic approach but I'll take it temporary.
Thanh’s great info
Can men take it for general good health?
Inspirational pharmacist, love this one
Dama Vand thanks for commenting 😃
When to take metformin?before meal or after? Whats the gap between meal and metformin? Plz reply
my doctor and the literature online say to take each tablet with a meal to ensure your stomach is full - this prevents experiencing side-effects etc.
Can I take this medicine for weight loss ?????
I have diverticula disease so is this medication safe. I have had 9 inches of my colon removed already due to a fistula?
If you take vitamin b12 while on metformin will it prevent b12 deficiency?
It should and yes, a B-12 supplement should be taken, along with getting your B-12 level tested....
HI! I'M 22 YRS. OLD, NO PCOS AND NOT DIABETIC AT ALL. CAN I INTAKE METFORMIN FOR JUST WEIGHT LOSS? NOT OVERWEIGHT BUT KINDA CHUBBY. THANK U FOR NOTICING THIS!
Can I take it just to lose the weight?
Thanks! Neither my MD nor my pharmacist offered any counselling about taking MF. When my MD prescribed metformin I had: diarrhea, nausea, weakness, muscle and joint pain, upper resp infection...and NO SUBSTANTIAL REDUCTION in my glucose levels. I'll try your method. Back in a few weeks...

Brian Crane Of course they didn’t. It’s a good lesson to really check on anything prescribed, use brave or DuckDuckGo rather than google....I have done much better with them. Hope you are ok
Thank you! I was wondering is it okay to have all three at the same time?
No way, take the separately at meal times
I have to drink metformin but it lowers my sugar really bad and it makes me shake alot .. so i cut 1 in ¼ but .. my sugar still drops really low .. any suggestion
Yes I’m shaking too so I have to drink or eat something surgery when I’m feeling sick

What about kidneys? Please answer.
I have found that taking it with food reduces diahorea considerably. So I usually take it half way through my meal with some water. I have to take it due to cysts on my ovaries. I take one tablet in morning and evening - 1000mg. I also take a B12 supplement every day
Thanks for sharing!!

Same here my anixity is sky high and my heart all it does is hurt and races
I heard it could be low b12

Are you on extended release or regular metformin?
It took 3 days for symptoms to appear for me. I find myself running to the toilet for horrible bowel movements lol other than that I feel alright
I spoke to soon the stomach issues came with full force.
It’s difficult for me to swallow the pill. Is it okay if I dissolve it in water and drink it because I know you’re not supposed to break or chew it.
Iam having fasting sugarlevel 160 and pp level as 260, i have been prescribed extended release I Tablet of metformin of 500 MG after breakfast. But side effects like bloating, acidity level and diarrhea ,I just can't take and i have been diagnosed with blood sugar shortly. Can you please help?
