Mega Man Legends is such an incredible and important game. It's so under appreciated in gaming history. Most people don't ever mention that this game came out a full 11 months before Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time would hit N64 giving us one of the best 2d to 3d transitions a company mascot had ever made in that era. Not to mention; it's contribution to the progression of the celshaded graphics we'd see in later games like Jet Set Radio, and XIII. These games are TREASURES. If you like Action-RPGs, Dungeons, Anime, and Megaman you will love these. Play and or own all of them. AT ANY COST. Buy it on PS3 for $5.99 buy, buy it on ebay, emulate it on your cell phone. Do whatever you need to do to play these games. They're totally worth it.
This was the first game my parents got for me when they bought me a Playstation. I have such fond nostalgia. We didn't know at the time that the Playstation needed a separate memory card, so I had to just pause the game and turn the TV off at night until we got a memory card. This was nothing like any other megaman game I've ever played and it is one of my favorite games of all time!
I had the same exact situation 😂 got a PS an this game for Xmas but no memory card. It was weeks later till I got one. I know the opening of this game like the back of my hand haha
I wasn't allowed to do that as a kid. I had to get as far as possible, and then call it a day. I got so good at not losing health since I knew half of the game by heart. I beat it on PSP years later since my PS1 was stolen.
@@josephstaszczyk409 it has a very deceptive length. lotta games back then hadn't really ironed out how long a game needs to be to be worth full price, and the pacing was really all over the place. the sequel feels more full and finished.
I remembered that last review of Mega man legends. I do remember being distinctly against the play it vote; finishing it is the best way to get that full experience, but I understood how difficult a full completion run would be. Only the Active buster is arguably the most grindy part of the game, but there are tons of fun ways to get the Zeni for it, fun fact the better you get at farming via beast hunt the faster the earning curve can be for it. This said, the end dungeons do pay out more for the higher risks involved. Also, everyone sleeping on Tiesel Bonne, when his laugh is iconic. Also, if you play MML2 be prepared for similar grinding, which isn’t bad (you have more places to do it and different ways to play…less chances for mini games however). But this story, from Legends 1? It turns into one of the most awesome (and heart wrenching) stories I’ve gotten to enjoy from PS1 era gaming. And from a rated E-10+ game? From that era that’s astounding. To me (as I am highly biased) this is one of the most underrated versions of Mega man out there. I highly recommend Legends 2, you will understand why everyone in this corner of the gaming community was devastated by not getting Legends 3. 2 earns its place as a collectors item. This said, don’t be surprised if a ‘playable’ copy puts you out 80 bucks. As a collector game, its value is _extremely high._ I envy the guys who got the pristine copies and have held onto them. Unopened copies run in the 150 range, and as a set? Easily 500 bucks overall. So buyer beware, it’s gonna be hard to get a copy unless you can get a good emulator running.
It is time for me to stand on this hill and sound the Mega Man Legends 2 horn. It must happen on the show. I'll settle for Jirard just straight up playing through it but aim for the show!
Favorite MegaMan series hands down. I wish 3 would have released. They need to finish it and put it on the switch! The fact that 3 never came out always will make me sad. It's the 1 game I will always want. YES PLAY LEGENDS 2!!!
The deep dungeon dives, the creepy atmosphere, the music, characters, RPG elements (upgrade badass weapons), incredible story (complex and interesting!), and exploration. There is so much to be said about this game and how much it does right. I really hope Megaman Legends 3 is released soon. If not, maybe another Mega Man RPG- like 3D game.
There's something funny about seeing Jirard, one of the hairiest men in the retro YT scene, doing an ad for Keeps. I guess he's keeping all that lettuce somehow.
Awesome! My favorite game gets an updated review; hope to see you give 2 and MoTB a run someday! Edit: 7:12 was that a reference to my favorite nameless npc in the game? There’s a gal in the city hall area who locked herself out on her balcony and over the course of the game goes from having a fear of heights to developing a passion for climbing after she got herself down, and the last you see of her she’s on her house’s roof and assures you she’s not stuck this time. I love that the generic npcs had little personal plot lines like that. Edit 2: to save your sanity a bit when you grind in legends 2: one early optional dungeon has one of three sets of enemies- if there’s a fake chest near the start, then you can find a giant gold enemy deeper in that drops a ton of zenny and respawns when you enter/exit the room. Do this before trying to upgrade your license to make it as fast to kill as possible.
Funny seeing this posted, I been wanting to sell my playstation one with megaman legends 1 & 2 (& some other gems) & i can’t bear to let it go because I genuinely will miss the Legends & Tomba series games on an original console.
I was one of the few players who noticed how radically different Legends was at the time yet also enjoyed it for its own merits anyway. For starters, the characters are full of expression and voiced reasonably well. None of that "Bass, why are we fighting?" or "WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOR!?" nonsense. Jagged polygons aside, the game looks remarkably like an anime, and manages to translate the character designs into low-poly models remarkably well thanks to the textured expressions. A lot of games of the time had low poly counts that stick out like a sore thumb nowadays, but for Legends, it was more like looking at high-quality character models through a jagged pixel filter. And dear lord, did Legends have a sense of wonder and discovery. Every time I found a new item in some corner of a ruin, I couldn't wait to bring it back to Roll and see what she'd turn it into. A new weapon? A buster part? Something completely mind-blowing? That little convention alone excited me in a way no other game at the time possibly could. Legends wasn't just Mega Man mixed with Metroid or Zelda; it was its own beast, offering its own exciting discoveries. Sure, Legends didn't have the classic "eight bosses on a stage select screen" or "four Light Capsules that give you cool armor upgrades", heck it didn't even have anyone as cool as Proto Man or Zero, _but it didn't need to._ It had its own atmosphere, its own personality, its own hooks, its own charm. Legends was as revolutionary as the original Mega Man - there was nothing else like it. And there hasn't been much like it since. Mega Man Legends deserves more than just a Legacy Collection - it deserves a _remake,_ ideally alongside its sequel and spinoff. Take the original Legends setting, add an HD coat of paint, maybe tweak the gameplay a little, and you have a classic waiting to be reborn. That all said, yes, definitely play Legends 2. As someone who completed that game, I highly recommend it.
The best way to prevent hair loss is to actually go bald. There's no hair to lose if you don't have any to begin with. I'm pretty sure I said this in the original video, but this game (and 2) scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. They're amazing.
When I was a small child, my dad would do the dog/ball minigame for 8 straight hours to make me zenny while I was going to school. It's one of those small things I remember him doing for me, a silly but special memory. I would come home from school and look forward to upgrading something to make the game more fun, I was probably 7 or 8 years old at the time. This was my favorite game and megaman was always something we did together going all the way back to the original NES games. This video put a huge smile on my face. Thank you.
I replayed this game around Christmas time for the first time since childhood, it's so god damn underrated and aged considerably well compared to other games in its era
Glad to see you giving Legends 1 a revisit and singing its praises! It’s still a very good game despite its age (which kind of fits with the theme of the game when you think about it). Seeing this amount of enthusiasm is always refreshing, and hopefully your review of the game will be enough to nudge people into giving Legends 1 the shot it deserves. You should absolutely give Legends 2 a playthrough, even if you don’t complete it (but I would watch it if you did)! If you liked Legends 1 at all, you’re doing yourself a disservice if you don’t at least check out the wild ride that is its sequel. Completing the game is a bit of a slog due to the inevitable grinding required to max everything out on its multiple difficulties, but the game is larger in scope than Legends 1 so there’s a bit more to dig into (or at least it feels that way). The completion process is definitely more involved than in Legends 1 even without the grinding, and there are some novel challenges to tackle over the course of the game that are difficult in non traditional ways. A run of it would 100% be worth watching!
I had a blast with this as a teen! It was challenging and took some time to finish. I'm happy to have fond memories of this game. Sadly, when I picked up the part two years later, I just couldn't get into the stiff controls and muddy graphics.
I remember loving this so much when it came out that I imported the soundtrack and discovered how amazing the Japanese intro and ending songs were. Check them out!
So happy you played this one, one of my favorites from this era. Would love to see you play the second in the series! (Who knows maybe it'll help get the third one back in the works!!)
One of my all time favorite games. It's got everything. Good story, loveable characters, a bright colorful world, great RPG elements, so on and so forth. I would love to see MM:L 2 appear here so you've goty vote!
Only watched the opening thought so far. As Megaman legends continues to be my favorite game of all time all I have to say is: victory! Another person on the Legends ride Also edit: yes. Play the second game
I still play through MML1 and 2 on the regular. It's been a truly formative game for me. The music is peak nostalgia. Strangely I have yet to play on the hardest setting lol.
The pixelated textures are a big brain move, it makes everything look less blocky since it's all at the same level of complexity instead of trying to add a super detailed texture onto a 20 polygons model.
The cartoony artstyle has definitely aged well. It makes me wonder if anime artstyles have somewhat evolved from massive hardware limitations for videogames, since to a point, those usually looked better than western-drawn stick figures/attempts at realism on those older systems.
The timing of this video is crazy. I recently started replaying MML for the fist time since i was a child and i cannot put it down. I started almost two weeks ago when this video was released. I remember loving the game, so was a lil nervous it would purely be nostalgic enjoyment, but the story and flow of the game makes me curious to explore the world. Like, the first time goin through old town and getting attacked by, and kicking dogs. Dude, pretty dark lmao. Especially in contrast to the rest of the game LOL that area is a serious vibe. Im excited to keep playing. Did not expect to see a totally current Mega Man Legends video lol, thank you!
Play Legends 2!! It's even better and I remember loving it! There's a new and interesting difficulty option as well, much better than the typical easy, normal, hard.
Yo, let's go! The sequel plays better, has more to do and a noticeable increase in difficulty. Though, some of the charm is lost because it is stretched over several islands instead of just one. As a proud member of GMOTM, I initially bought a 3DS just for MML3. Was so hyped! Can we at least get the demo? Man would kill to play that!
This game is absolutely amazing. It is my 2nd favorite Mega Man game overall ( Mega Man 2 and X coming in 1st and 3rd respectively) And easily in my top 5 if not top 3 PS1 games
In terms of progression, I've always recommended that people play them in order of: Megaman Legends, Misadventures of Tron Bonne, then finally Megaman Legends two. That way, you play the first game with its controls that have aged really poorly, but you meet the Bonne family and get curious about them, then Misadventures satisfies that curiosity and tells you what they got up to before they went to Kattalox island, as well as having more responsive controls. Then you get to Legends 2, which continues the story from 1 and has the best controls of the series. It finally lets you use 2 sticks! Which sounds like a no brainer these days sure, but back then for Legends and Misadventures, the dual shock wasn't around yet. It was only with Legends 2 that we finally got dual stick controls. Also, legends 2 is arguably superior to 1 in almost every way, even though 1 has huge nostalgia for me and still has its charms, plus you gotta play it to get the full story anyway!
I too, would love to see you complete MML2. It blows the first game out of the water in every way. But, if you're looking for an affordable way to play it, fire up your Playstation 3 and get it from the PS3 store. It is only $10, I think. Also, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne can be found here as well.
@@KairuHakubi No the full game wasn't finished it was the demo that was fully finished that they wouldn't release. Originally they wanted to just work on the game, then corporate said no do a demo, then they said make them pay for the demo, and then they didn't even release it when it was finished.

@@Tailstraw_xD I don't get it. Why is megaman called Volnutt? Does it say in the game? I played it, but I don't remember.
@@newgameaaaa it's his surname
There needs to be a Lego Megaman game
This was my all-time favorite game as a kid. I’m 36 and when I have a hard day I sometimes think about the soundtrack and brings a smile to my face.
I'm 36 also. I approve this message
I want to see Legends 2 just for that quiz minigame.
The MML2 quiz minigame was taken directly from the MENSA aptitude test.
I had to memorize the freaking answers and brute forced my way through.
If this does get released on a newer gen console, everyone needs to buy it to compel capcom to make another one, we got to do it
This was the first game my parents got for me when they bought me a Playstation.
@@SoukaDeezNutz i thought the game was a lot longer until this video. Jirard saying there’s a bonus for beating it in 3 hours 😅
Please do megaman legends 2!! These two games were my childhood and i always saw these two as the actual 3D megaman games!
Megaman Legends 2 would be neat.
Unrelated: so would Digimon World 1
Favorite MegaMan series hands down. I wish 3 would have released. They need to finish it and put it on the switch! The fact that 3 never came out always will make me sad. It's the 1 game I will always want. YES PLAY LEGENDS 2!!!
If you like this game you will love the sequel, please play megaman legends 2, these games need more attention
He bathes in it
He puts it on his face.
You gotta eat the lettuce.
A New Game Plus Rank that improved on revisit?
Interesting.
And ya, Jirard probably should do an episode on Legends 2.
Yes do Mega Man Legends 2, you literally can’t go wrong with more of the legendary Blue Bomber
No joke on how the Completionist energy source is G-Fuel, I am shocked.
I love it 😂
Yes, absolutely play MML2!
(And then feel the crushing sense of loss that we'll never see how the story ends.)
To me, this game was Mega Man throwing in a little bit of Legend of Zelda. It was super fun. I wish I kept my PS1 to keep playing this game.
Back in the day, I thought Legends 2 was comparable to OoT. They are so similar in a lot of ways.
Legends 2 please!!! Maybe with enough attention, we can finally get some sort of closure to Legends 2's cliffhanger
Wouldn't mind seeing Legends 2.
Yes! Please play Legends 2! It has so much more going on!
The best way to prevent hair loss is to actually go bald. There's no hair to lose if you don't have any to begin with.
I'm pretty sure I said this in the original video, but this game (and 2) scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. They're amazing.
The Legends games were part of my childhood and I've missed them. You should definitely play Legends 2.
btw there's an indie game being developed that is inspired on Legends called ZetaGal
if someone is interested try looking for Arthur Vyater on twitter
What ever happened to Red Ash? It was supposed to be the spiritual successor to Legends...
Thank you.
Please review legends 2! Love that game so much.
I replayed this game around Christmas time for the first time since childhood, it's so god damn underrated and aged considerably well compared to other games in its era
Um yes, you should play 2. It's one of my favorite games even though I've only beaten it once but it has stuck with me since the 1st time I played it.
Please definitely do MML2! I was lucky enough to have all 3 Legends titles back in the day and they were a big part of my childhood!
Megaman Legends is seriously one of the Capcom series that deserves to get the Monster Hunter treatment
You should absolutely complete Mega Man Legends 2!!
Yoooooooooo! It’s wonderful to see you. Love the channel still!
I had a blast with this as a teen! It was challenging and took some time to finish. I'm happy to have fond memories of this game.
Sadly, when I picked up the part two years later, I just couldn't get into the stiff controls and muddy graphics.
down for Mega Man Legends 2. ive only played it a small bit before i had to return it to the video store. never had a chance to play it again
Definitely do Legends 2. I love this series and my favorite of the Megamans.
I remember loving this so much when it came out that I imported the soundtrack and discovered how amazing the Japanese intro and ending songs were. Check them out!
So happy you played this one, one of my favorites from this era. Would love to see you play the second in the series! (Who knows maybe it'll help get the third one back in the works!!)
this game needs remakes and sequels so bad
Dude, I'd kill for a remake.
I can't believe I played this game when it first came out! That was over 20 years ago! ahhh! I think it would be awesome if you played MML2!
We deserve both remastered on both game jsut to create the Megaman Man Legends 3 that could've been! T_T
Give us Mega Man Legends 2!! Pretty please with sugar on top....
I will forever shout bring back this game!
One of my all time favorite games. It's got everything. Good story, loveable characters, a bright colorful world, great RPG elements, so on and so forth.
I would love to see MM:L 2 appear here so you've goty vote!
Mark my words: One day, this game will make it into the Easy Allies Hall of Greats.
Not without Bosman.

Play Legends 2. Well worth your time and despite there being many better games on a technical level it still remains my favorite to this day.
Only watched the opening thought so far. As Megaman legends continues to be my favorite game of all time all I have to say is: victory! Another person on the Legends ride
Also edit: yes. Play the second game
I still play through MML1 and 2 on the regular. It's been a truly formative game for me. The music is peak nostalgia. Strangely I have yet to play on the hardest setting lol.
The low-poly style in this game looks so good, even by today's standards
You bet I want to see Legends 2! I'm still not over the canceled third game!
I would love to see a Legends 2 review. Possibly the Tron Bonne spin off as well.
Jirad, you like Zelda. You like MegaMan.
Legends 2 is Legend of Melda Man
No Cap.
This game is absolutely amazing. It is my 2nd favorite Mega Man game overall ( Mega Man 2 and X coming in 1st and 3rd respectively) And easily in my top 5 if not top 3 PS1 games
Do Legends 2 next!!
I love Mega Man Legends, but I'm distracted by how the Keeps sponsor is likely my sworn enemy.
Finally some respect for my boy volnut
Yes, we need Legends 2 and see the rest of the world beyond the island.
I too, would love to see you complete MML2. It blows the first game out of the water in every way.
But, if you're looking for an affordable way to play it, fire up your Playstation 3 and get it from the PS3 store. It is only $10, I think. Also, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne can be found here as well.
yes, play Legends 2, see why we really missed out getting Legends 3.
especially since it was, as I understand it, finished.. and they just wouldn't release it.
@@KairuHakubi No the full game wasn't finished it was the demo that was fully finished that they wouldn't release. Originally they wanted to just work on the game, then corporate said no do a demo, then they said make them pay for the demo, and then they didn't even release it when it was finished.
@@hypershadw wow that's somehow both less and more fucked than i thought. assuming that's true.
This game and series means a lot to me and I'm so happy to hear Jirad praise. I would definitely be down for seeing him complete Mega Man Legends 2.
