Well this was a very timely post... I to am making a Christmas gift and needed 3 wood circles and this is the perfect way to it. Thank you very much, Cheers Sandy
This was so helpful! I was working on a craft project for Christmas that required making several large circles to be formed into wheels. I tried but could not make consistent cuts. I thought my only option was to buy them on-line . Your explanation and demo inspired me to try your method. In less than an hour I gathered some scrap wood, drew the reference points as directed and was able to make perfect circles . Thank you!
Wow, l could hug you, you are brilliant, thank you so very much. I have been going crazy trying to get a circle ⭕️ just like this. Hugs and thank you so very much. Lucy x
Unfortunately my bandsaw is out of order at the moment, so I have tried the same trick on my table saw using my sled as a base board.Brilliant. Thanks for the Idea.
Man, my old table saw is not nearly as rad as yours. I have no fence and my table is much smaller. But, I think I can make it work thanks, John. Nice project for a good cause. Drive on, brother.
Thank you! For years I used carpet tape and it works good, but this stuff I'm using is new to me and it works great! It's for woodworking and it's called Hippie Crafter 1" Double Sided Woodworking Tape is the exact name on Amazon. Isn't this ridiculous that the big box stores don't carry some basic woodworking products.
Great question by the way! I was using a quick clamp holding the board at first, then took it out of the video. My reasoning was to keep this jig as simple as possible and pretty quick too! I like your idea, so YES! That was a long YEEEESSSSSSS!
Great question! In this case the thinner the blade is definitely a WIN as long as you can cut through the material you are using, you should have no problem. This is the beauty of this jig, it does not care what kind of bandsaw you have. I only run 3/8" blades on this Grizzly for ripping or cutting circles. I use 3 different blades, maybe that should be a video.
@@BuildwithMooney drill your hanging hole on your square piece, put it over your circular jig, transfer the hole and drill a threaded insert into your jig, attach both pieces together with a screw and saw... no more tape needed.
Have you ever had the piece you are cutting not wanting to rotate? The last time I tried this my piece would not rotate. I felt I was going to bind or even brake the blade because of torque. Just curious.
Yes and YES! Man I just snapped my 1/8" blade yesterday in the middle of my first live cutting reindeer. Long story short i was cutting a reindeer out of 4x4 redwood and it was too much material to do what I wanted and the blade came off the wheels. I put it back and and started the live and I knew in the back of my mind this blade was bent, because I could hear the ticking and sure is the day is long SNAP on a tiny reindeer out of cedar pushing straight. Back to your situation, I would loom how the sharpness of your teeth, tension and the pressure apply when putting. It should feel like your jamming the material through. a good cut feels pretty smooth. I'm guild of pushing and turning too hard with my bandsaw blades. Try to cut something you know your saw cuts goo already maybe. I'm just throwing stuff against the wall. Bansaws to me are the most finicky woodworking tool in my experience. Let me know what you find out. Good luck! Check out the live I'll link it for you right here. SO MUCH FOR A SHORT STORY! Thank you! ua-cam.com/users/liveHP0noFvZmFE?si=hmbhFoQNRuMcUVyE
Probably one of the safest power saws in my shop. What kind of PPE were you thinking of? It's a very quiet saw so ears aren't a problem. Safety glasses a must. Certainly not gloves? Full face shield?
@@budm9982 YEAH I guess so!! I use to fire Tanks with minimal hearing protection!! 🤣Safety warriors might not want to hang out over here. I've been known to wear flip flops in the shop! Such a BAD INFLUENCE!
Incredibly clever! You must be an engineer at heart!
Brilliant!! Thank you from the UK !
Brilliant
You're very welcome from Palm Springs CA! Thank you very much!

Thanks for the tip brother... and glad you included the mishap..happens to us all... God bless
You bet, glad it could help! I really try and show everything without dragging out the video, keep it real.
Brilliant and very useful idea
Thank you very much!
Works great and very clever! Thanks!
Thanks for checking it out!
I will definitely be using this one!
Nice! Yeah it's handy!
I'm going to make this in the spring. Thanks for the great tip!!
Great, let me know how it goes! 👍 You're welcome!
@BuildwithMooney I sure will!! 👍
Love it! May use that jig for cutting multiple coaster's for Coffee mugs, etc., next year!!! 🤠
That was an awesome video. That will help me a lot. Thanks so much for your brilliant idea.👍😄
Glad it was helpful! Not my idea, but thanks. Sharing information no reason to hold on to it.
That’s a smart idea, thanks !
I will definitely use it 😊👍🏻

Thank you and Merry Christmas!
So simple and accurate. Thanks for the tip! I’m going to give this a try. I’m subscribing!
Thank you! Yeah it's a super simple way right!
If I’d have thought of that first, I’d have thought of it first! Lol! Great idea! Merry Christmas!

Very good video, very clear and precise, thanks for the upload.
My pleasure Darryl , thank you for your time!

I have been doing this for at least 35 yrs on MY table saw . . . . . . . . .
Amazing. Thanks
You're welcome! I'm glad it was helpful.
Thank you for this tip.
No problem!
That's cool brother
I just had the same idea but yours is more better 😮
Thanks brother! This was taught to me! It's super simple
Loved it 👍
Nice! You're welcome
I told the wife I would have to make some sort of a jig to make wooden circles minus the center hole for her crafts. Thanks for this great tip.
Glad it was helpful! You're welcome and thank you!
So smart thanks for the tip.
You bet, glad it can help!
Great video and you have a new subscriber! Well done!!
Thank you!😎
Nice!
Thanks, pretty neat jig!
Great and handy jig !! Especially at Christmas time, Eh ? Hope you post a video with the ornament's finished look.
Thanks! I will post some pictures on my Community Tab when I get them, sure thing! Merry Christmas!
That just got you a sub 👍 I like the way you got on with it & no waffle 👍🙃
Awesome! Thank you! I'm trying lol
Thank you. You can also do the same with a jigsaw-table. For a jigsaw, I would stabilise the blade with two small bearings.
Good idea, I'll have to give that a try! Thank you!
Good one
Very useful.

Perfect. Simple and easy. What brand of double sided tape do you use?

Could you fix a thin piece to the left edge of the base, on top, so you could clamp to the fence once the cut starts? To avoid movement.

Great idea! Does it matter hoe wide your bandsaw blade is? I think mine is 1/4", but does it matter if it's smaller or bigger? Thanks again!

@@BuildwithMooney Yes a video on different blade widths would be amazing if you get a chance!
@ I like that idea
What kind of blade are you using mine gets like hung up
Hey Mark, the blade I'm using here is a 3/8" 10 tpi . ordered a few from Grizzly as well as a 1/8" blade I snapped on my first live a few hours ago.
@ thanks for the answer !!
@@markstrunk6644 Sure thing, anytime!
excentric hole with screw will save tape...
You still have to attach the base to the material, I don't see how this would work even if it saved tape.
@@BuildwithMooney drill your hanging hole on your square piece, put it over your circular jig, transfer the hole and drill a threaded insert into your jig, attach both pieces together with a screw and saw...

Muito bom....
could the small circle be thinner?
Sure, I cut over a 100 3/8" thick rounds.
Make your squares oversize so when bandsaw starts to cut, it won't drift as much, because extra wood supports the blade from both sides.
Man Bartk I like that!! I was limited on material size so I ripped 1x4 pine and I snuck out 3 1/4" circles. Great advice my friend! Next time!

uh, what about wearing PPE?
...
This video was viewed by thousands of amateur woodworkers...
Who don't know how dangerous a bandsaw is.
I had my PPE on!
I guess I could do that video next, I'm not trying to be smart, do you mean hearing protection, because my eyes were on.
Probably one of the safest power saws in my shop. What kind of PPE were you thinking of? It's a very quiet saw so ears aren't a problem. Safety glasses a must. Certainly not gloves? Full face shield?
