I am all kinds of pissed about my duo. I’ve had it for 2 weeks. It seemed good at first, but I’m getting no audio at all now no matter what I do. I originally had a brand new Shure SM7dB and was satisfied. I ordered another new SM7dB just plugged it in and now I’m getting nothing out of either mic. I had a friend fly across the country to do an interview and spent 3 hours trying to work through the issue. I even had a high level IT guy working on it and still nothing. Hopefully they can help me with it, but I ordered it through Sweetwater so I’m guessing I’m screwed.
I also wanted to buy a Rodecaster pro 2 in 2023, but before I buy anything that is reasonably expensive, I always do my homework first, such as looking at honest contributions from customers, such as the contributions as you make them, and you do that very well because People learn from that, including me. I thank you. And I agree with you because while doing my homework I also saw that there were quite a few people who mainly had problems with the Rodecaster pro 2 and it was really due to their device, and just like you, this information also showed waiting for me, just like you, for exactly the same reason: Waiting until these devices have been improved so much in the future that there are no longer any problems, and only then will I buy a new one and the best of the best. But I cannot recommend that everyone do the same, because it is precisely the problems and downsides that customers experience, and let Rode know, that encourage Rode to improve their devices. And yes, fortunately Rode does this, Rode listens to the customers, which is why Rode explicitly asks for opinions and feedback.
I've had problems with my Mackie DLZ Creator XS where the gate is not working properly. I know there is good headroom as I wanted to add a compressor to tame down happy emotional moments such as laughing, but even at a -60dB threshold, the gate is just plan unusable for me. I'm thinking about trying out a Rode Rodecaster Duo and it seems people have good successes with Linux even though Linux is not officially supported by Rode. Every time I tried getting sound through the USB, it kept disconnecting and reconnecting itself. So yeah, I just returned my Mackie DLZ Creator XS today. I need compressor, EQ, and expander all in a compact unit without having to carry 4U+ rack of hardware gear which is heavy. Even if I updated the firmware in my DLZ Creator XS, no dice. Oh by the way, what Yamaha mixer was it?
Місяць тому
Would you replace it for another mixer as the Mackie DLZ Creator SX for example?
I wouldn't. If you need to use a gate/expander, I would try the Rodecaster Duo first but I have not got one yet. I returned my Mackie DLZ Creator XS because it does not work in Linux.
Got mines December 2023 and I have been enjoying it but I have accidentally dropped my duo may use my warranty and hope not to go through the same issue you dealt with.
As they say in my country "one swallow does not make a spring". The fact that you had a defective device does not mean that the Rodecaster duo is not good. If you replaced it with a correct device and then had the same problems, this video would make sense.
agreed, this is such a dishonest video. he clearly had a defective device, and even states that he was not interested in trying another one, but the fact he makes a video like this is just so dishonest. what's the intent of the video? "ooh this is why I sent it back" OK, this could have been a twitter post saying "I got a defective device so sent it back" since obviously none of this has to do with the product being a pad product objectively.
@Metagamingtv How is this dishonest? The title of the video is “why I returned it”, and I did just that…told you why I returned it. I never once said all of them are bad or not to buy one at all. You clearly didn’t watch the entire video to hear what I say at the end.
When did I say it wasn’t good? I said I got frustrated and didn’t want another one at the time. It would have been a nice upgrade but I can wait until they iron out all the bugs before I order another one.
@@BeardedRadness its dishonest cause if you had a defective unit, and did not do your due diligence of confirming whether it is in fact faulty or not, you ask the viewer to do the work for you, having to figure it out for themselves. And even tho I agree that people should not base their buying decisions off youtubers, the reviewer has a responsibility just like any journalist has, to research what they are actually talking about. Otherwise you are just making useless content for no reason. Either your videos matter or they dont. You cant have it both ways. (either you want people to value your words, or you dont). And if you dont, why are you even here? This is the problem with having random people replacing proper professionals. They dont do the work required to have the status of an influencer. Cause its easier to just say what you want, and throw the responsibility over to the audience. Let them figure it out right? Democratizing the ability to speak to a large audience does not mean you should slack it. In this age, I have to watch at least 10 videos with 10 people talking about the same topic before I can be sure that the information Im getting is truthful. Seems Im doing all the work here. Would you have made this video knowing it was a faulty unit? No I dont think so. Had you introduced this vid saying. Hi Im reviewing a broken unit. No one would want to watch it, or put any value to it. And there would be no reason for it to exist. So the only reason why it does exits is the thought that you are reviewing a non faulty unit. Thats why its dishonest. Or rather ignorant.
@SilentD1 Wow…who hurt you? You must be the big brother defending this other person that made a comment and never responded to my reply. I am free to make whatever videos I want, because you (like the other commenter) got confused and can’t read or comprehend things isn’t my fault. Sorry for whatever happened to you or maybe it’s your failed life that is making you angry over a video that clearly states everything clearly. The title of the video says it all. “Why I returned it”…if you’re confused beyond that, get professional help. Oh, and I am not an “influencer”… I’m just a regular guy that makes videos out of a spare bedroom in my house. The word “influencer” is cringy to me. Enjoy the next 10 videos you need to watch to satisfy yourself and thank you for your hard work you are saying you do.
Mine keeps resetting from time to time. Sometimes the device won't turn off. I litetally have to unplug the power cord to turn off. It recently didn't turn on only ONCE. I had to unplug everything and plugged back in after a minute and it turned on... so.. yeah that's my experience.
I had 2 units and both would not recognize SD memory correctly. Second one randomly drops off usb input when recording on SD card, the recording function is useless, do not rely on it or you will be sorry.
I traded my goxlr for a rodcaster duo everything was great for my duo pc streaming setup then I tried a console. Sound issues. So I had to buy a streamer X in order to run my console in combination with the duo in obs...
Thank God I found this video, I was also digging lots of comments on other channels only to find lots of defective RCD. I believe it has some kind of software bug / QC issue, I skip buying this garbage, Thanks man
No offense. But your review is kinda, not very useful. The fact that you did not give them a chance to swap it for a new one, that just makes this review a scare campaign more than anything else.
The video is titled “why I returned”…It wasn’t a review. I simply went over the things wrong with the duo that I received. They are not all bad but do have issues time to time. I was disappointed because I was excited to finally have one and I got a dud. I do plan on getting another one in the future.
@@BeardedRadness I still Think the video loses relevance when it is based on one product and not giving them the chance to swap it. yea why? what in this video showed that it's a bad product? IF it was a bad product youtube and product reviews on the sites you buy them would be flooding with low scores, but it's not. because he had what's known as a defective device, which happens to everything.
I got the duo in January loving it so far thankfully no issues with the one I got

I’ve seen a lot of folks having issues with this product. I was about to get it tomorrow but I’ll skip it for now. It seems to have lots of glitches.
