I honestly just guessed they were in smaller enclosures because its easier to show off more than one, and keeps them put away and safe as well. I figured when they go home they go back to those still small but larger than their deli cup enclosures.
Most snakes should (and are) kept in properly sized and equipped terrariums. The racks that you've seen (box drawers) are used by big breeders to save space and produce more animals for sale. There are also smaller scale breeders that use proper terrariums for their permanent breeder animals, which are in my opinion the breeders that we should support the most, as they're offering the highest level of care to their animals.
I always wondered why they were shown off like this! I’m glad it’s not stressful for the noodles ❤️ though I do feel like I’ve seen videos of people keeping their snakes like this more long term (it’s been a long while, but I think it was someone breeding snakes). Is there something beneficial to keeping them in these containers when a snake wants to lay eggs?
It's stressful, no one is pretending it's not. But that's why it's for a max three day event. It's not the lack of space that makes it stressful was the point she was making.
Some snakes lay eggs in burrows which they make or take over. which is in fact a quite tight space.
@@PlexippusPark yep. Ball pythons frequently are found squished in termite mounds. Dark, humid and cramped. Mine has a large enclosure to explore but spends a decent chunk squeezed into the smallest hide. 😎
Also, please excuse the voice over quality. I made this for a TikTok (@emzoticofficial) but I decided to upload it here too ☺️❤️
the baby retics in the dei cups remind me of when I first received my little girl!!! so many happy memories
Very cool!
Unfortunately reminds me of when I went to this one reptile store that had snakes in these 4x4 inch plastic containers with no visible ventilation 🤢 they were so small the snakes couldn’t move and they were packed in there presumably every day.

Like a one way glass, where you can see in and not out, no idea if we could manufacture something like that though.
I think these are both fine, hides should be fitted to where the snakes can feel it on all sides and these fit that need well.
@@wanderingdinosaur4063 who was that directed at?
@@SuperYxskaft one way glass is and has been a real thing for a long time mate

This also highly depends on the type of snake involved. Arboreal (tree dwelling) snakes are climbers that feel more comfortable with vertical space and taller cages. Ground dwelling snakes prefer horizontal floor space but don’t need a particularly tall enclosure.
Not my dyslexic self thinking the title said “why are these snakes in diva cups” 💀💀💀

Omg I love your videos! I went to that expo I'm supper bummed I didnt see you
I didn't know this, thank you for educating me because at first I thought that they would get stressed or something but now I know that they're ok.
Wow some of those snakes were so gorgeous 😍
I miss long videos
I hope I can go to one someday!
I love the show me snakes shows.
Such an important video, thank you for making it!
I just picked up a zen habitat at Nature Box, I had been waiting to check them out in person and they looked solid so I jumped on it! Thanks!
Oh my gosh my snake is a ball python and he was in a deli cup too!
Does this also apply to the ones I see in my local reptile store?
If they're kept in small boxes at a reptile store, probably not, and that's not ok. At shows these deli cups are used just for temporary transport and display, since breeders have to transport a large quantity of babies for sale. When they're taken back to the breeder's or bought by someone, they should be put back in their larger, properly equipped enclosures. A pet store has no reason to transport their animals up for sale since they're selling them right at their location where they also keep them, so they should be housed appropriately until bought by someone. I wouldn't buy from that store if they keep their animals like that.
@@syraza7170 some are kept in enclosures but the milk snakes and king snakes are in large deli cups on a glass cabinet. I cant remember if the cabinet has doors or not
@@FunSize_Paradise That sounds really bad. Unless they were holding them for someone who was expected to come pick them up that day. If they're kept there permanently then that's a big yikes. The bare minimum should allow the snake to stretch out, have some kind of substrate, a water bowl, a thermal gradient (one end warm, the other cool) and at least one hide, prefferably 2, one on each end. If they're kept without all this permanently, I dare say that is animal abuse.
@@syraza7170 I couldnt agree more. Honestly idk if their there for holding or permanently. I rarely go in there unless I have to for bugs for my hedgehogs
Your very informative ☺️😊
They are so ADORABLE and absolutely BEAUTIFUL ❤️❤️
Gentle noodles do not mind being takeout
I went to my first reptile expo at Tampa fair growns repticon and will hopefully go back soon in February
Don't forget Blue tounges

How is your snail
What kind of bedding is that? Plastic? Foam? Looks stabby.
Which one? One is coco chips which isnt stabby for them at all. The white one i dont know what it is, but it's not anything that would hurt the animal
Snakes have much thicker belly scales. No more shabby than the cypress mulch my snakes burrow in all the time.
@@LuckyLunny I meant the white one lol. 🤣
I live in California I have never seen a wild snake it's crazy because they're always snakes here in California I have only seen them in zoo's
How would you introduce your dog to another pet from another species such as a snake?
Please just don’t do it. Dogs and cats have a predatory instinct and anything could happen.
Personally, I wouldnt. Theres no benefit for the dog or snake
@City Johnson I train dogs and I’m learning to tame horses.
Edit: to clear things up, I am working on my certification currently and work at a local dog training facility in my area for the past few months. By no means am I a certified trainer, but I do think I have enough credentials to share mg opinion on this matter.
You wouldn't.
@City Johnson I don’t specialise in that, I recently started training at a local place in my area, and I do mostly early on things because I only started working there a few weeks ago, and potty train most of the time. I help out most of the time with behavioural things.
Snakes are snacks mmm tasty snak
I still don't understand why you have Australian animals in the USA all bearded dragons and all carpet python and all woma python come from Australia and shouldn't be allowed in any other countries we don't sell them to anyone outside Australia and you should be ashamed of yourself for keeping them
Cry more
That's exactly why muppets in USA don't deserve them
Because they have been captive bred since the 60s which keeps them from being further poached. In fairness, rumor has it we got them from Germany where the original beardies were illegally exported. Fun fact.
@@carloss3809 first I'm not American, second if you did a minutes research youd understand that captive breeding prevents animals being taken from the wild
Your absolutely right about that
To desensitize humanity to captivity.
You can make it sound a good as possible, but it’s not right.
It's not permanent and not perfect but it works. If your gonna get your pants in a bunch complain about small permanent enclosures
