The only time it can be a little offensive is if you’re a guest in a Filipino home and they cooked food for you. I’ve been told numerous times by my mom not to smell food cooked by my relatives 😂 but aside from that, keep smelling the food lol

Hi Jessica, love your series and method of interviewing locals and getting their recommendations. You keep a great attitude with everyone you meet that keeps your videos so interesting. Love your tagalog too. So nice to know you maintain your level of integrity by not just labeling a "paborito" just because you tried it. Great to see you reserve the level of labeling something a "paborito" as some place or food that actually earns it in your opinion. Kudos kid!
kailangan mong mag leave ng comment na pwedeng mapuntahan ng tao sa place since the highlight is paborito on specific place, telling people na you can see or buy the food somewhere was like you were telling them not to eat there, STOP comparing the FOOD you ate to the other places who serve the same food(you can see SoMeWheRe) "paborito" nag ask kayo sa student, and pumili sila, most likely sa mga area na [napuntahan, pinupuntahan, at pupuntahan] nyo may mga kanya kanyang paborito yung mga tao na kainan at normal yun na magkakaron ng kapareho talaga sa ibang lugar. best thing before you start eating, ask people at least 3 food places from at least 5-10 people. So that you can decide kung ano yung the top 3 food places na pwedeng puntahan.
Hi Jessica! Since you’ve already tried the food near the universities in Intramuros, think you should also try the food/Paboritos near other universities (UST, DLSU, FEU, & etc.). I’m sure the students will be able to give you recommendations with great food and affordable prices.😁
wahhh she's improved a lot in speaking Filipino language na talagaa, like I remember watching her vids like 2 or 3 yrs ago, there's a big change about her fluencyy
For students it becomes their Paborito if its the one that they can only afford and the one they can eat that will fill their stomach but will not hurt their wallet. 😅
Watching your videos made me missed my hometown. I love the paborito series so much! To more food adventure on the coming months. You're very genuine to your viewers. Thank you, Jessica!
I miss the Wall! I studied in Mapua for 2 years back in college, and the wall was(I think it still is) one of the places to go to for easy access (it is just literally across the campus), student-budget-friendly yet tasty meals with free soup. Or there was a "Kantunan" at the side of the building but it is no longer there. Then after school, either beer garden or Wow Philippines were the 2 best places (at least back then inside Intramuros) to hang out for a "moderate" beer session with a free show from acoustic artist/band/s. My optional and less costy place to chill out was my or friend's dorm's rooftop. Just buy RH/gin+favorite powdered fruit juices and someone else's acoustic guitar. What a simple way to end the "night". Studies?? Not sure about that. 😅🤭
If you ever do a PABORITO episode in Mandaluyong, I highly recommend R&J's Bulalohan near the City Hall obviously famous for their Bulalo and you'll be surprised just how many dishes they offer. While in there, also try their Tapa and Bicol Express or other combo binalot that comes with tomatoes and salty egg wrapped in banana leaf. Charlie's Wanton House is also a must try in Mandaluyong, especially their Beef Wanton noodles and Jumbo Siopao. Keep it up and more power to your channel!
one thing about spice tolerance is, it is not about the ethnicity or what food they usually eat in a country but it's more like an individual thing or preference. maybe korea have lots of spicy dishes and foods but per korean have their own preference of spiciness as well. same with filipinos, they may not have too much dishes that are spicy but we also have our chilis that we use as dipping sauces or chili oils that we add in our food at times. we all have our own techniques on how we use our chili, thatI may say is a race thing. filipino palette or korean palette on spiciness doesn't actually exist. it's more like a bragging thing for the latter.
First all, congrats Jessica! Sobrang entertaining and informative ng video series mo, so smart of you for video concepts. Nakakatuwa yun paano ka mkihalubilo sa mga tao, so friendly & natural. Keep it up! Stay humble & kind 😊
14:50 Oh I love that so much. We have that here too. You can also have 2 flavors or 3 flavors. Then you can choose adds on like Jelly, Black Pearl, Nips etc. My favorite was Strawberry 🍓 with both and Jelly and Black Pearl as adds on then Graham toppings. The strawberry is sweet but has a subtle soury taste, that's why I loved it.
Just don’t sniff vigorously, as long as it’s just minimal and you still emphasize dining etiquette then I believe there’s nothing wrong with smelling the food. - from Bataan/Manila 25.
I have to agree that foods for this episode is something that we can get anywhere. Intramuros wont fail you Jessica! Looking forward for Intramuros Part Two hahaha
back in college, Spicy Chicken nasa 50-75 pesos lang ata yan (2011- 2015), my classmates and I are fans of the place. Glad that it's still there. Shoutout sa mga Lycean (LPU) =3 also, J's nasa 75 pesos (less than 100), back then. Grabe, nostalgic! nakakamiss maging student :D may "liempuhan" din dyan sa likod ng LPU, go there next time.. Usually talaga affordable foods at student meals inside the intramuros dahil sa mga students, bec of the universities dyan.
You still look pretty kahit pawisan ka na! Btw, ang galing mo na mag tagalog! I'm really proud that you're improving na sa pagtatagalog! That shows how hardworking, and dedicated you are on your craft! More PABORITOS EPISODE to come! I also recommend you to come to Malolos, Bulacan to try adong puti! ☺
The foods of Spanish that mixed with our food was also influenced by Ottoman Empire so our foods is so unique that it's mixed with Spanish, Chinese and Middle Eastern taste.. Don't forget also that it's not only adobo or sinigang, those Muslims that was not converted by Christians also have different foods and there's a lot of different foods on every tribes.. I think you should know it since you love Philippine Culture too..
just some of them, most Filipinos can't tolerate spicy food unless you're talking about locals in the Bicol region. I even let my Filipino friends try to taste the spicy dishes that I eat which is like a 5 on a scale of 1-10 and they wouldn't even take another bite due to how spicy it is for them.
@@MonsterFishKeepersPH are you Maranao or Tausug? Those people from the southern Philippines (Mindanao) have very high tolerance to spicy food since their local cuisine are very spicy as well. Mindanao food are very underrated.

One thing that i liked in this episode is she boldly said na wala pa syang napili "paborito" which is sa lahat ng napapanood nating mga food vlog lagi o dapat meron kang pinili, but here di na sya nag pretend na kailangan meron!! Kailangan o dapat may pipiliin, para malaman ng viewers, even though kitang kita naman some part na nagustuhan naman nya ang mga food.. Natutuwa lang ako sa opinion hehehe share ko lang.. I always watch your vlog, hooe to see you around 😍 May Our Lord bless🙏 you and guide you always 💐
Yum! Thank you for sharing these dishes with us! There’s nothing wrong with taking in the aroma of a dish…i find that the flavors are enhanced. Do you ever notice that when you’re sick with a stuffy nose, how bland food is & you can barely taste anything? So go ahead & use all your senses, taste everything & enjoy it all one bite at a time! Bon appétit!
nostalgia hits. Good ol J's. They used to have a free shuttle service on call, it was a really nice brand new toyota hiace. And it wasn't just unli rice back then, it was also unli iced tea all for like 70 or 80 php. Liempuhan was great too before it relocated to its current spot. They had liempo for like 35 and 5 php for extra rice. Not sure if its the same as it is now in terms of how they ran the place, but it used to be really distinct.

I remember my college days 2005 era. There are so many places to eat and I'm quite surprised with the new places now. Of course the infamous fried food of Walls will always be my favorite next to grilled pork belly in front of BIR office. Back then we call it Batibot. I don't know if it still existing because there were a lot of changes in Manila vendors.

I am filipino but smelling food is never offensive in our place. Idk about others but smelling is already part of enjoying the meal. And food has always been not only by taste but all sense can be used for food through smelling, touching, seeing, and hearing food. To anyone who finds it offensive are overreacting sorry no offense but it's just too much
It was the best decision to try all before decising on your paborito. And it's Ok to smell... That's how you eat your food... through smell, through looking at it and through tasting it... good job, Jessica!!!
I love how grounded you are. I know some people that don’t even drink tap water from local resto. I just love your content and you as a vlogger. Continue to do more! 😊
its my first time hearing that smelling food before eating is a bad thing here in the philippines, probably because i never smelled something before eating it i just dig into it lol.
maybe not popular now a days especially with young folks but definitely when i was growing up its a disrespect to the person who cooked or served the food

I see a lot of comments that says they too smell their food and the first ones sabe rude daw.. Well I believe it depends on how you smell it. If you frown before smelling it or if kung tignan mo yung food na parang ayaw mo talaga kainin, so that counts as rude.. It’s true naman po kasi and in some places specially yung mga nagkikeep ng tradition or ahem🫰yung mga “matatanda kung mag-isip” is totoo na it is considered rude to smell your food..

It's completely fine to appreciate the sensory aspect of food, like smelling it before eating. Many chefs do that as part of their culinary practice to enhance the overall dining experience. Trusting your senses, including smell, is a valid and personal approach to enjoying food.

Huh? I was born and raised here, turning 46 in March, and this is the first time I've heard that you shouldn't smell your food. Back in the 80s, Jollibee's tagline was "langhap sarap", and it involved people smelling their burgers. So I don't know when did this smelling your food thing become rude. Must be an invention of the younger generation.
I usually smell the food before eating. Not being rude but to savor the taste more.. ung nose kasi connected sa dila. So mas masarap pag inaamoy ko muna..
Walls is my go-to place whenever I need to eat lunch during my college days in Mapùa in 2004. I am not sure if Manang Chicken and Hongma are still open in Walls. You should have tried eating at the famous Cantunan in Intramuros! Yakisoba+Half Long Combo 😊
All the foods that was shown on this episode are available when you use a delivery app. There are a lot of turo turo and Carinderia in Intramuros, kindly go to those who cook lutong bahay, which those students go since they can only afford less than 100 peso meal or what we call students meal.

Recommendation: When I visit Philippines, I like bag of beans in Tagaytay- the main branch. Love the coffee and of course their decorations. Was fortunate to go during Christmas Holiday 2022.
I don't get why people are telling you to stop smelling the food. It's not rude or offensive at all. And that is totally NOT an old tradition. We eat with our eyes first, then nose, then mouth. It's another way of appreciating the food and a way to excite yourself before eating. I say, DON'T STOP smelling the food.

"paborito" nag ask kayo sa student, and pumili sila, most likely sa mga area na [napuntahan, pinupuntahan, at pupuntahan] nyo may mga kanya kanyang paborito yung mga tao na kainan at normal yun na magkakaron ng kapareho talaga sa ibang lugar.
best thing before you start eating, ask people at least 3 food places from at least 5-10 people.

Jessica, try visiting us here in Kalinga province
wahhh she's improved a lot in speaking Filipino language na talagaa, like I remember watching her vids like 2 or 3 yrs ago, there's a big change about her fluencyy

I love how genuine you are with your viewers. You're the one, Jess. Love you 😘🥰

I like how you said the *"my Paborito of the intramuros episode is.... WALA!*"
Hahaha 💯 I love it ♡♡ cutie Jessica ♡‿♡

Hi Jessica! I love how you interact with Filipino students!
A very honest reaction. Love this content. Keep on going Jessica!🥰
To be honest, Filipino spices tolerance is high and very underrated.
Those people from southern Philippines specifically Mindanao have high spice tolerance like the Maranao and Tausug people.
I don't have that high spice tolerance. But I don't care how spicy it is, still gonna eat it 🤣
I have to agree that foods for this episode is something that we can get anywhere. Intramuros wont fail you Jessica! Looking forward for Intramuros Part Two hahaha
back in college, Spicy Chicken nasa 50-75 pesos lang ata yan (2011- 2015), my classmates and I are fans of the place. Glad that it's still there. Shoutout sa mga Lycean (LPU) =3
also, J's nasa 75 pesos (less than 100), back then.
Grabe, nostalgic! nakakamiss maging student :D
may "liempuhan" din dyan sa likod ng LPU, go there next time..
For food recommendations naman here in Bulacan especially in town of Norzagaray we're known for kakanin or rice cakes like cassava cakes and halaya.
Smelling the food is fine especially when you are rating it. Smelling is part of culinary experience.
I know it's a bare minimum but I really love how she asks permission first everytime she go inside the store. like jessicaaaaa, mahal na talaga kita
I think the spice tolerance of Filipinos are so underrated.
just some of them, most Filipinos can't tolerate spicy food unless you're talking about locals in the Bicol region. I even let my Filipino friends try to taste the spicy dishes that I eat which is like a 5 on a scale of 1-10 and they wouldn't even take another bite due to how spicy it is for them.
Only city boy can't take spicy food
@@serioguerrero1394 I'm a city boy all my life and I eat fresh chilis
@@MonsterFishKeepersPH are you Maranao or Tausug? Those people from the southern Philippines (Mindanao) have very high tolerance to spicy food since their local cuisine are very spicy as well. Mindanao food are very underrated.
I really like your honesty. This is the vlogger we're looking for. Not other guys roaming around pretending they like it just for views.

True. Kc pag d honest makikita sa facial expression.
One thing that i liked in this episode is she boldly said na wala pa syang napili "paborito" which is sa lahat ng napapanood nating mga food vlog lagi o dapat meron kang pinili, but here di na sya nag pretend na kailangan meron!! Kailangan o dapat may pipiliin, para malaman ng viewers, even though kitang kita naman some part na nagustuhan naman nya ang mga food..
Natutuwa lang ako sa opinion hehehe share ko lang..
I always watch your vlog, hooe to see you around 😍

Love your vlog! You really sounded like a typical filipino who can speak english fluently with an accent. I like the way you deliver your content you remind me of Mark Weins one of the famous vlogger nowadays. Don’t mind the hates about smelling the food. That’s okay naman eh. Some pinoys lang talaga na parang sinasabe na maarte porket inaamoy but fck no.
