I think the X on Ymir represents the end of the curse. It's sad she didn't get reincarnated as Historia's baby though......well....ln my opinion anyways.
It's ending but the Eldians are seen resurrected in the Path by Ymir, rising from the flat Earth after rumbling and then the cross on Ymir's face means that the curse is over. I believe Eren is going to save them that way.
@@silvanvanderhorst7366but it’s not entirely true. Eren wasn’t inherently evil per se. Eren never in his life had free will. @@melvinat0r I can give you something. To be honest the openings arent that spoilerish. Expect opening 3 where we can see the beast titan with a bunch of other animals hinting that the beast titans form can be a different animal depending on the shifter. Besides from that there are some obvious hints like the titans in the walls in ending 2. Whats probably the most interesting is different character OSTs. For example you should listen to "Bauklötze" from the first season with lyrics. You will quickly notice that its about ymir and some lines are really fantastic. You can do this with almost every OST that has lyrics in it. However the most exciting one is without a doubt "Akatsuki no Requiem PV - Linked Horizon". Its a PV for the ending song of season 3 part 1. This pv could very likely spoiler the end of the whole series (there is a really good theory about it that explains a lot of details)

This ending in a nutshell: -spoils more than manga readers. -has things in it that hadn’t even appeared in the manga when season 2 came out, and some things we still can’t explain. -has fucking weird, scary and dark visuals & music
i think this ending was even before the manga explained paradis history. I bet the studio crew only got briefing and details about how to make this from Isayama but didn't understood the meaning. at most people would believe the human are paradis island civilians and the titans were coming from the sea to eat them.

Wait. They weren't even in the manga at this point??? This is even more impressive. I thought Isayama bamboozled every anime watcher, but he got EVERY AoT fan.
Gya thé Rumbling foreshadowing I think. This ending is telling the story of the Eldians, from Yimir getting the power of the Titan, to her death band her children eating her to gain her power, to the Titan War and the King taking his people to the Island.
Just to clarify, this is not what is currently happening in the manga, this is known as "the tragedy of Lago" a Marleyan city attacked by the Old Eldian Empire. Although there is no denying the incredible foreshadowing.
If this ending tells us something, it is telling us... That the author of Attack on Titan is writing the first chapter of his story and he knows already what he will write in the last chapter of his story.
I remember reading an interview in which he basically said this. He even implied it wouldn't have a happy ending. In fact, he planned to make the story much shorter, but lengthened it when he realised how popular the story was.

One of the best stories ever written/created by a human. This just shows how creative our beings can be. The foreshadowing the connecting dots everything is marvelously done hats off
@your average Jojofan Isayama and his editor had planned the plot since long ago, even before the manga released for the first time. Isayama probably had the idea to do this ending.
As an anime-only, I studied this FOR HOURS back in 2017, and came to my own conclusions: 0:01 The Devil giving Eve (or humanity) fruit that cursed her into transforming into a titan. Or perhaps the knowledge to transform. Maybe she was the progenitor of the titans. 0:10 The Colossal Titan being foreshadowed. Remember he was supposed to be the big, final villian in the anime. 0:11 In the medieval age, knights attempting to kill Eve who may be a metaphor for Titans. 0:23 A king forcing the 3 girls, princesses perhaps, who ended up having walls named after them, into eating the remains of the slain Eve, OR it means the King obtained control of the Titans since they're eating the same fruit Eve was. At this point, I thought this was OUR OWN history with a bad ending, rather than an original fantasy world. This explained the medieval mural at 0:00 and Arabic Numerals at 0:22, since it's different from 0:32, which is a completely different language. 0:33 And then the Titans attacking during our Renaissance, with us having absolutely no way to stop them with our medieval technology. This meant our world was destroyed by an apocalypse long before we made it to The Reformation or The Industrial Age. Perhaps the same Kingdom from before accidentally went too far, but it was too late to change. 0:41 The colossal Titan being shown as having lived since the original attack, perhaps having started it itself. 0:44 Some of us fleeing underground, trying to save whoever we could by sacrificing ourselves so even a few could survive humanity's extinction. 0:50 The Colossal Titan leading the other titans since the beginning. 0:52 The Titans hunting down most of the survivors. 0:55 The only survivors fleeing to a faraway land, where they rebuilt civilization until AoT started. 1:04 Flowers were shown many times whenever Erin transformed, this might be related in how that happens. Maybe the injection Erin's dad gave him involved these flowers being used. 1:06 A bird flying into the sunset, far away from the old world, symbolizing how everything has become distanced from our own history. The only living things have fled from our old destroyed land. 1:12 The Titans waking up, needing to eat more people, and traveling until they eventually find AoT's new civilization. 1:16 This one stumped me. Was Eve still alive? Was there a pantheon of Titans pulling the strings in the old kingdom? Or maybe it was the descendents of Eve having eaten her remains over the years, similar to how the 3 girls did. Maybe this was all a metaphor for eating the forbidden fruit and creating the titans, with Eve just being a representative of the human race. Apparently I was off! But I sort of understood certain things before manga-readers did. I hadn't even got more than a few episodes into S2 at the time lol.
I like to think that the WIT studio animators (or at least the team in charge of animating this ending specifically ) did everything with no idea what it was supposed to mean, only to realize years later that they technically animated a good portion of key moments from the end of Aot

The use of medieval aesthetics was one of the most clever ideas ever.
Especially with the way the art style evolves the farther along in history the opening goes.
Yeah, from Early Medieval art style to the Renaissance / Romanticism ones.
@@theasianboy315 I only see medieval art, to be honest. Renaissance and Romanticism art would look different than the art shown in this ending.
@Enthusiastic Aizawa no???
it looks more like the byzantine church art style to me. I grew up surrounded by byzantine paintings and that is the strongest vibe I get from the animation
EDIT: a few specific shots give me that impression, but the overall style does lean more towards medieval paintings

As an anime-only, I studied this FOR HOURS back in 2017, and came to my own conclusions:
0:01 The Devil giving Eve (or humanity) fruit that cursed her into transforming into a titan.
Sina, Rose and Maria ended up eating their own mother - the Founder of the Titans, Ymir.
0:10 its also possible that its just a human's shadow
as an anime only watcher since 2013.. this theory is way more interesting to me than the original story lol..

I like to think that the WIT studio animators (or at least the team in charge of animating this ending specifically ) did everything with no idea what it was supposed to mean, only to realize years later that they technically animated a good portion of key moments from the end of Aot
OKAY BUT LIKE IMAGINE THIS PLAYING AT THE ENDING OF AOT WHEN THE FINAL CHAPTER GETS ANIMATED
It shoyld be played when the collasals start moving just like in this ending.
@@yourmajesty6678 i feel like it would fit better at the end end while showing the final pages but it would fit well with the rumbling too
I'm sorry but I have to say it. You're dead

Well at least he didn't lie and everything was planned 4 years ago.
say that to those over-expecting readers or socalled manga master *puke
Yeah even the ending was planned and it seems like he scrapped it somewhere in those 4 years, I am just so fucking disappointed, why did he have to ruin it like this..
@@cannedcan9788 don't agree, but not gonna potentially spoil for anime watchers here
@@cannedcan9788 SPOILERS:
Yeah i too fucking hated it when they didn't show us the 20-pg frieda reiss porn.
@@BD-tc6fq Honestly that was the worst part. Smh if he showed us that it would’ve been a 10/10 now it’s a 6/10 at most
