i don't mind getting a bootleg as long as they don't look like complete and utter trash, the only thing about it is that other parts don't fit and is a little loose. I'm not really a collector, I just want cute figures on my desk.

This was super helpful! But people should also remember to never feel ashamed if you prefer to buy bootlegs, cause either you can't afford normal ones, or you prefer a cheaper price, etc. So anyone who buys bootlegs shouldn't ever feel ashamed!

now that's stupid, you can buy second hand REAL nendos for less than 25 bucks, idk why you would prefer the ugly bootlegs, you're literally supporting a million of Chinese persons who are in crappy factories in poor working conditions, but go off with your derpy shiny one I guess

actually good smile can report the bootleg company,just like bandai report dragon momoko and daban for making knockoff gundam,but as long as the bootleg factory didn't give much effect to the good smile sale,they won't report it yet
I have only gotten one bootleg. But I fully knew she was a bootleg. It was the miku #33. I found her at a thrift store for a buck with all of her pieces. I ended up repainting her for fun. Sadly she is my ugly step child out of all my other miku Nendos. Lol.
That's sounds like fun, what I did for my fake petites was to spray paint them solid metallic silver or gold and add a key chain, some actually were fooled and thought they were made out of metal from first glance

Lol but I see what you mean some of them are very rare so the price is jacked up on them but then good smile does a re-release of them and the price eventually goes down a little bit. These figures are also in short supply and a lot of demand so that's another reason why the price is so high. 😩 witch sucks for people would don't have deep pockets. 😋 ...like me 😭
Nicholas Rivera Figma's are actaully more expensive then nendoroids right now, nendoroids are only 3K yen (on Amiami) if they're not rare.
Use VPN and go to Japanese markets, you can usually find some for a little cheaper.

In my head. I get some people cant afford real Nendoroids but it seems unfair that they are buying a fake meaning they aren't supporting the original sculptor and giving more money to the person faking it. It's just unfair to the original sculptor 😓
Great video. The price is also a dead giveaway. I just ordered the Tony ver. Megurine Luka figure by Max Factory which is about $110 whereas the Chinese bootlegs on eBay go for like 35 or 40 USD.
I got my first nendoroid for $49 (Sasuke #707) and it seems to fit the criteria for being a genuine. It wasn’t on eBay but on a site that I find very reliable.

15:19 My Figure Collection also has pictures of bootleg figures for comparison and if they have posts about bootlegs, the official entry for the figure will have a warning at the bottom saying “a counterfeit version of this figure exists” which you can click to see them. Some bootlegs... are the stuff of nightmares.
Wow, great video!! I've mostly only seen other youtubers go over nendos that are much more obviously bootleg. It's great to see someone going over it for a much more accurate-seeming bootleg for newer figure collectors!

I’ve been looking for a Japanese sakura miku nendo for a while now and never wanted to get it on eBay but I finally did it. The seller was giving it for $118 and I was skeptical at first so I messaged him and asked for more pics and he sent me more and said it is authentic but I also looked up to see if the box was also a bootleg or not and looked very VERY closely at the figure itself, the extra pigtails and compared the paint job on the legit box one and the one he posted and saw that it was 100% legit so I got it. Took me 2 hours and asked 4 of my homies to help inspect it and look at his other reviews and other products this guy does. The only sketchy thing I see that it’s listed as “used” but hopefully it’s just that he bought it and didn’t do much. It comes in October and I can’t wait! 😊

piplup229 No wanting a bootleg nendoroid doesn't make you a bad person. Some people can't afford the real nendoroids and that is ok. As long as it makes you happy, and you know your getting what you pay for. Witch is a lesser quality figure at a lower price. But when people cheat you out of your money and tell you your getting the Real deal and they give you a fake at a Real deal price is what is wrong,😡 and those people you should not support.

The bootleg can be easily broken. I got a bootleg figure by mistake. It doesn't have a sword and it constantly falls. Worst purchase ever.
piplup229 no bootlegs can be good. They are cheap and sometimes quality. I have a bootleg rem she is good quality. So I recommend you get a bootleg if you can’t afford it.

Hey, I need your advice. I recently got a kagamine Len nendoroid cheerful ver for my birthday. The box said nendoroid and all that but the figure itself had problems. The paint job is not very detailed and crosses over where it’s supposed to be in certain areas. Also, one of the faces tiny little screw part broke when I gently took it out. Is it a bootleg or a legitimate figure? Any help is appreciated:>

Really informative video!! ^^ I just have to say one thing though. It's about the Hatsune Miku figure. The original one does also come with a circuar base. I know this because I have an authentic #33 Hatsune Miku nendoroid with the circular base. I think the first releases came with the circular base but after high demand GSC realeased her again, just with a different stand. Anyways, awesome video!! 💕💕 keep up the good work! 😝
Old Nendoroid supports don't have metalic screws, some official Nendoroids are not produced by "Good Smile", Some old real Nendoroid can be sticky and smell... The best way to tell an authentic from a false is to go on the official website, there's pictures of details to authenticate them.
I see a lot of people who prefer bootlegs ones because of the price but you can find real pre owned ones on AmiAmi on PERFECT CONDITION for less than 30 bucks

i love all of my official nendoroids coz they look neat and are sturdier. But man, people need to stop being toxic and shaming others for making a different decision.

In addition, check for the Kadokawa sticker on the front. Both the Holo and Nagato nendoroids that I bought have them on the front. Not sure about older ones though.

would this be the real thing or a bootleg? Im confused because its shown by Good Smile but the seller is San Tokra. Also someone in the reviews showed pictures of the nendroid, and it shows all of the signs that u mentioned in this vid (the bootleg one), with a one star rating saying "No." is that person trolling or is it actually a bootleg?
Always be careful when ordering from Amazon. the real good smile amazon account is called Good Smile Company. Not Good Smile so that's an other clue that's a bootleg account. Also make sure to check the reviews, some of them will have pictures. That figure is a bootleg since there's reviews on that one with pictures of it which is the Chinese versions aka the bootleg figure. I would recommend going on myfigurefigurecollection.net and search that figure as it would link to all the site aviable what sells the real figure ^^

Orange Rouge is a company working with good smile company so that might be a real I looked on there figures before it seems ll there figures are real so far. So that one might be real ^^

im waiting for my very first nendoroid to ship to my house right now. i bought a deku one, and he's a super popular character, so there are a lot of bootlegs around. i got it on ebay for $55 from a seller with 100% positive reviews who has sold nendoroids in the past. the photos weren't found anywhere else and were of a lot of box angles, so i'm hoping it's the real deal! i'll definitely be comparing it to this video's guidelines when it arrives!
I really love nendoroids. I have 7 of them, but I really wanna get a Sebastian or Ciel one from Black Butler. I kinda prefer the bootleg because they’re only around 20$ and also I don’t think they make Black Butler nendoroids anymore.

my sister got Dazai and Chuya nendoroids for her birthday and i was looking at them earlier and the boxes were off, the bases was completely clear, and it was way more difficult to put them together than my isabelle one.
also im pretty sure even if my isabelle one is offical, the head itself has a peg that goes into the body rather it be the body having a peg that goes into the head-

As someone who sculpts and paints, I’m thinking of buying bootleg nendoroids to repaint and sculpt on (some base sculpts I want are really rare and I’d feel bad buying the authentic and then just totally changing it). Is this still a bad thing?

My question is Crunchyroll ok site to by nendoroids from, because I have seen a figure that I like and the price is ok (46$+shipping), I know that they are ok for anime streaming but are the ok also for figures. I thought i had my nendroids were real cuz i have 5 of them i thought i was a collector but i was bootleged.
I got this miku yukata nendo (no. 333) and her base trademark only states the nendo’s designer, the companies and the made in china and I can’t tell if it’s legit because it didn’t display the year.

well miku is one of the more popular bootlegs, the only thing i can tell you is to do your research and find a video with someone reviewing her and see if yours matches up with theirs, i don't have this miku so its hard for me to say, but good luck :)
I just bought a kageyama nendoroid, and I am pretty sure it’s a bootleg..I got it from a small shop in Chinatown. Everything about it is okay but his neck is pretty weird which does bother me a bit. The crown does not have a small piece for me to put it on his head which also bothers me. Is there any good places to buy cheap, yet real nendoroids?
i find i can get good deals on per-owned wed sites, like Ami Ami has a preowned area and they only sell the real deal so i don't have to worry :)

BTS ARMY Froppy! If your buying it from a legitimate website you should be ok, but if it’s from a used goods website like eBay where you buying it from a person I always ask for a picture of the item they are selling so you know what your getting. But it’s all up to you 🙂 use your gut 👍

Either one, but them from a store or official good smile website brand new, or two (if you are going the pre-owned route) buy pre owned figures from ami ami
If you are looking at eBay preowned, make sure the pictures are not stock photos and are real pictures taken from a camera

You should’ve mentioned some other key elements. Like how sometimes a knockoff will also not list the site link on the sides of the box. Sometimes even the way it’s taped is a dead giveaway. Although identifying fakes is very variable and can vary based on generation. Use mfc people!
I buy all my nendoroids from amiami or the GoodSmileCompany Website itself, and i just want to say that some figures fo have a really thing piece of tape holding in some of the pieces so they don't fall :)
I was gifted a bootleg umaru. Unknowingly, i just pulled the hair strands out of her coat lol, it worked
I got a yuri on ice nendroid and ots prop fake but its still not here so we will wait and see, to me if it was fake i prop wouldn't care because i got a whole different body for it and other clothes, so i prop wouldn't care about anything else other than the head but hope it is actually good quality!

Reason being because Funkos already pretty cheap on release, so it's not really anything to copy. Bootlegs get more dangerous when the thing that's getting bootlegged is more valuable.

I got bootleg because the one I had ,the mouth was no where the dent for the mouth when it came with like 10 neck pieces and came in horrible condition no box at all LITERALLY NO BOX!!! it came in bubble wrap?!?!
though most bootlegs now has the same box, with all the logo and everything. maybe except for the licensing sticker. another way to spot a bootleg, honestly all 5 date a live nendoroids I have are bootlegs but we call them class A. though im starting to get legit ones now.;D
