I love and listen to every one of the band's that were featured in this list every day, and it's because of my accidental discovery of Band Maid, way back in early 2016, upon hearing the first video of Band Maid I was thinking, what!? Japanese female rock metal bands are a thing? I immediately started my journey to find listen to and love as many as I could, having said this, when I cast my votes, I didn't just vote along "party" lines, lol, I spread my votes out to musicians who I believe are also deserving of the award's, having said this, I also think so many other incredible musicians and Dare I say band's that were left out, maybe because I had starved for so long for quality music and musicianship that I dove in with a addictive personality, giving me a head start on so many of today's reactors, even those who started around the pandemic period, there's a lot too be had, just in female Japanese rock/metal/ progressive/allofit that most madiacs haven't heard of yet, I wish every Maidiac, Wolfpack, Pettle Head, Fox God followers, along with all the rest have a great 2025, and to go outside of your music comfort zone, discover other band's, like Doll$Boxx, Gacharic Spin, Asterism, Nemophila, Lonesome Blue, Nek!, and so much more, and there's many band from which the current band came from, they're all awesome, happy hunting, you won't be disappointed, I certainly am not.

Disappointed to see no mention of either LiSA, who put out 5 great videos this year. (Queen, Shouted Serenade, Black Box, Make a Miracle, and Brain Washing) and stays at the top of my list of performers. Nor was there any mention of the incomparable East of Eden which I find to be incredibly talented with Akane Minato shining on vocals and Yuki offering gems on guitar.
Here is my opinion on these sort of videos: When defining the best female Japanese guitarist, you would need to include bands like Asterism. For drums, you would need to include bands like The Jazz Avengers. For what is the best, when the best isn’t available to choose from? BTW, I’m not an Asterism fan, I’m just trying to be honest here. When all bands and members are available, when just talking instrumentals, here is how I see it: The top 2 guitarists: Li-sa-X and Hal-ca The top 2 drummers: Senri Kawaguchi and Kanade Sato The top 2 bassists from NON-LIVE video: Mina and Fami The top 2 bassists from LIVE video: Juna Serita and Koga Mina and Fami are rated entirely from their UA-cam channels, whereas Juna Serita and Koga are rated entirely from live video. This separation was done in the interest of fairness, while some people took issue with them not being separated before. The reason I pick a top 2 for each instrument, is because the top 2 are usually too close in ability to be worth debating over; it’s a much easier position for me to defend.

It could be said that in general, jazz drummers like Senri Kawaguchi and Kanade Sato have an easier time playing something else, like rock for example, than it would be for a rock drummer to play jazz. There is also improvisation going on, with things being more reactive between the different jazz members, while the drummers tend to have better solo skills simply by entry/default; the bar is higher, which should explain why it attracts those who are more capable (on average).

Also you should stop mentioning things like “charisma”, “energy”, “emotional foundation”, which is too subjective, and just seems like an attempt to even the playing field. People will just say things like: Kanami has more charisma than Midori, or something stupid like that. Additionally, never split fans between two choices from the same band (Midori versus Miyako), otherwise you’re splitting their votes into two (people just vote their favorite band). But I guess it doesn’t matter, since Band-Maid would’ve won regardless.
Midori is very good but Just shredding 100mph does not make a great guitar player, thats why i voted for Miyako over Kanami, and i'm a huge BM fan, there has to be some kind of feeling coming out of all those notes, and Miyako and Kanami do that, also being able to write that music helps for a well rounded great guitarist

Also to me “feel” is not just someone choosing to incorporate bends or whatnot (as if soul is entirely based on their choice of technique), but rather I think much actually comes from within (like playing from their heart/emotion), which I don’t think of as a characteristic of the Ice Queen (Miyako). Does such an award for each instrument make sense? It's the nonsense of an unfounded band maid fan. Vocals are typical of that. Is ASAMI inferior to SAIKI? It's impossible. In the first place, it is unreasonable to make a different genre one and an award just because it is a woman. There is no evidence. Rather, it would be more convincing to be told that you chose according to your own taste.

Kanami is close. Misa and Fami are equal. Akane is close. Saki and Asami are also even, depending on which style you prefer. But you can't honestly think any are better than the ladies of Lovebites if you are objective.

If we are discussing technical proficiency, a bassist like Fami can emulate Misa, while Misa can’t emulate Fami’s variation, moving smoothly without a pick from one bass technique to another: slap and pop, finger style, bass tapping, even some harmonics, while she is playing fast, and her ability to do well at bass tapping is an important factor when evaluating ability. Fami also became popularized mainly for her technical skill, which was her entire focus for some time. In this way, I think channels which devoted themselves entirely to technicality while rising to top (like hers), wouldn’t be easy to beat in technicality for that reason. If live video is required, she also has a live version of Alien Alien (not as impressive as the non-live, but still more technical than Misa). On top of this, Fami is also younger, with more room for improvement. “Akane is close.” This one is actually close enough to where I don’t care which one people pick. I need to point out though, that Haruna plays in a more straightforward way than many fans realize.

But I don't feel Kanami is that far behind from what I've seen and heard. “Next time let reactors vote” Reactors voting isn’t really good either, as they will mainly pick based on the fans of the bands that gave them the most views. Honestly, there is no good way to do this, because even if someone were to make an attempt at honesty, the best at something will likely end up being someone in a less popular band, and therefore nearly everyone (fans of the bigger bands) will be mad over it. So UA-cam channels just pick all the popular bands as the only options available, in part to limit some of the hate, and mostly to increase their views on the video.

@@rRobR Yes, Babymetal subs & video views are multiple times higher than Band-maid. Babymetal also had close to 100 shows for their 2023 World Tour. They are currently heading towards their final leg of 2024 World Tour covering Asia, Europe, North America & South America. Feat that no other Japanese rock or metal band has managed to achieve for the past decade.
I can think of one,🎀 Besides, Babymetal shouldn't even be in this as it's really the Kami band. BM is an idol group. The band is made if professional session musicians and members can be interchanged. Now if Kami band was listed as opposed to Babymetal maybe things might have been different.

LOVEBITESファンとしては少々くやしいですが、2025年はすべてのバンドが刺激を受け合いながらより高みを目指していってくれることを期待しています。
ここからは同じドラマーとしての意見ですが、ドラムという楽器が個性を出すのがいかに難しいかということで、その意味で私の中のベストドラマーはHARUNAの圧勝です。
ドラムは陰に隠れた存在で、「絶対にビートを乱さない」「フロントマンの邪魔をしない」という絶対的なミッションをこなしています。
そんな中でドラマーとして個性を出すことがいかに難しいかということを考えたとき、HARUNAは前述のミッションを完璧にこなしつつ、Zilbellや複数のチャイナ、スプラッシュなどのシンバルワークで違和感なくポリリズムを多用し独自性を作り出しています。
ドラムを聴くだけで誰が演奏しているか分かるドラマーは世界的にも数少ない存在だと思います。
ダブルバスの速さが取り上げられることが多いですが、テクニカルかつ曲の雰囲気を生かすよう考えぬかれた演奏スタイルはただただ凄いの一言です。

In terms of ability, this should have went to Midori, but people are just voting for their favorite band here. Also you should stop mentioning things like “charisma”, “energy”, “emotional foundation”, which is too subjective, and just seems like an attempt to even the playing field. People will just say things like: Kanami has more charisma than Midori, or something stupid like that. Additionally, never split fans between two choices from the same band (Midori versus Miyako), otherwise you’re splitting their votes into two (people just vote their favorite band). But I guess it doesn’t matter, since Band-Maid would’ve won regardless.
Midori is very good but Just shredding 100mph does not make a great guitar player, thats why i voted for Miyako over Kanami, and i'm a huge BM fan, there has to be some kind of feeling coming out of all those notes, and Miyako and Kanami do that, also being able to write that music helps for a well rounded great guitarist

Feel or soul is not easy to measure. Also to me “feel” is not just someone choosing to incorporate bends or whatnot (as if soul is entirely based on their choice of technique), but rather I think much actually comes from within (like playing from their heart/emotion), which I don’t think of as a characteristic of the Ice Queen (Miyako). Just my opinion on it.

Does such an award for each instrument make sense? It's the nonsense of an unfounded band maid fan. Vocals are typical of that. Is ASAMI inferior to SAIKI? It's impossible.
In the first place, it is unreasonable to make a different genre one and an award just because it is a woman. There is no evidence.
Rather, it would be more convincing to be told that you chose according to your own taste.

Assez incroyable que le fan base de band-maid est plus grand que celui de Babymetal avec leur milliards de vues sur UA-cam. C'est vrai qu'on aurait pu donner un awards à Myako, guitariste de Lovebites, même la drummer de Trident m'impressionne. Akane de Lovebites est aussi top. Bravo à band-maid. Haha, was für ne alberne und vorhersagbare Abstimmung. Die Band mit den meisten Fans gewinnt alle Awards, ist ja auch logisch. Bei einigen Sparten sind die Nominierten anderer Bands definitiv besser (Bass, Gitarre, Drums).
Naja ich glaube aber schon das BABYMETAL schon mehr Fans hat als Band Maid :) Haben halt mehr für Band Maid gestimmt, aber solche Sachen sind halt auch immer subjektiv.

These are always a popularity vote. Never objective. Why do you think Taylor Swift was voted as the 8th best guitarist of the past two decades according to a UK guitar retailer. There are probably thousands of guitarists better than her.
Kanami is close. Misa and Fami are equal. Akane is close. Saki and Asami are also even, depending on which style you prefer. But you can't honestly think any are better than the ladies of Lovebites if you are objective.

If we are discussing technical proficiency, Midori is significantly better. Can you make an argument (or link videos) to show how they are close?

You seem to want to say everything is close or equal, which is ridiculous. If we are discussing technical proficiency, a bassist like Fami can emulate Misa, while Misa can’t emulate Fami’s variation, moving smoothly without a pick from one bass technique to another: slap and pop, finger style, bass tapping, even some harmonics, while she is playing fast, and her ability to do well at bass tapping is an important factor when evaluating ability. Fami also became popularized mainly for her technical skill, which was her entire focus for some time. In this way, I think channels which devoted themselves entirely to technicality while rising to top (like hers), wouldn’t be easy to beat in technicality for that reason. If live video is required, she also has a live version of Alien Alien (not as impressive as the non-live, but still more technical than Misa). On top of this, Fami is also younger, with more room for improvement.

@@SomethingToDo360 I am not a fan of Band-Maid at all, and a huge fan of Lovebites, but I do try to be objective. Miyako is better than Kanami for sure, and so is Midori. But I don't feel Kanami is that far behind from what I've seen and heard. Saying Kanami's skill level is "close" is very subjective, so if you feel they aren't close I'm not going to argue against it. I'll just post this one video link and let people decide for themselves.

Reactors voting isn’t really good either, as they will mainly pick based on the fans of the bands that gave them the most views. Honestly, there is no good way to do this, because even if someone were to make an attempt at honesty, the best at something will likely end up being someone in a less popular band, and therefore nearly everyone (fans of the bigger bands) will be mad over it. So UA-cam channels just pick all the popular bands as the only options available, in part to limit some of the hate, and mostly to increase their views on the video.
You think Band-Maid has more fans than Babymetal? I hope that's true some day (nothing against Babymetal).

Yes, Babymetal subs & video views are multiple times higher than Band-maid.
Babymetal also had close to 100 shows for their 2023 World Tour. They are currently heading towards their final leg of 2024 World Tour covering Asia, Europe, North America & South America.
Feat that no other Japanese rock or metal band has managed to achieve for the past decade.

I can think of one,🎀 Besides, Babymetal shouldn't even be in this as it's really the Kami band. BM is an idol group. The band is made if professional session musicians and members can be interchanged. Now if Kami band was listed as opposed to Babymetal maybe things might have been different.

Después las bandas grandes este 2024 no fué muy destacable en cuanto a la creación de música incluso a Babymetal quítale sus colaboraciones y es un año discreto
Y en cuanto a conciertos fué todo lo contrario, a muchas bandas les fué bien este año
