My favorite are M&M..when it comes to solo guitars i love not only technical but also melodic..M&M have both of them...suit with the music too..love lovebites🔥🤘🐺
I wish I agreed with this! I find the two Lovebites guitarists to actually be a bit bland except in isolated cases. I would like to hear more interesting uses of harmonic tensions/resolutions, among other things. As it is, their playing has more of a “paint by numbers” feel to me, and I never feel emotionally engaged. Sorry for my negative-sounding comments, that’s not my intention. I just wish I found this obviously popular band to appeal more to me, I guess. The one who really surprised me is Yuki from D_Drive. I like her ideas and phrasing quite a lot.
@@FullmetalHotpantsI've actually seen Yuki and her band D_Drive live at NAMM and to be honest they got boring real fast. After a couple of songs, they all seemed to blur together.

My favorite is definitely Kanami. There's just something about her composing that just gets to me. She truly speaks through her guitar. M&M from Lovebites are also great.
I love Midori she has such a great vibe. The amount of talent in Japan is insane but Miyako and Midori are 1 and 2 on my list and the fact they are in 1 band and play old school metal is the best thing ever. 🤘

Japan has no shortage of amazing musicians of either gender in any genre. Their female musicians however are definitely the best in the world in sheer quantities of abundance of talent. I was even able to discover, properly document, meet, and get to know on a personal level one humble genius female musician from Japan by the name of Riyoko Takagi, who's a jazz pianist, and amazing composer, improviser, and performer. It is really hard to choose the favourite from them, but I would go with Hazuki, Li-sa-X and Kanami. Hazuki is hugely underrated, unfortunately. She does not seem to have the egoism of a solo guitarist when she is in a band, so in a way, I am glad with the departure of Saki as now Hazuki is "forced" to be in the spotlight.
First of all, I want to thank you Venus Gajin, for this video.🙏 I listened to a lot of good music performed by famous and dedicated musicians. I can never compare one musician to another because everyone has their own personal style, their technique, their skills, their creativity and last but not least, everyone has their own charisma. I watched with delight these young and beautiful ladies, Japanese artists, who really know how to sing both in live concert and in the studio. I'm a fan of Jimi Hendrix, Buckethead, Jimmy Page, but that doesn't mean the other musicians aren't good or very good. Good music brings us all together. We live with rock, we need rock and I'm glad that there are always new artists, musicians, who will delight us with their musical creations. Go to Rock.🤘
Kanami may not be the best or most technical guitarist (how do you define best anyway), but she is (in my mind) the most impressive musician given her chops and most importantly, her song-writing skills. In the melodic hard rock world - she sits alone at the top of the heap.
Venus Gaijin, hope you continue to make these videos and keep us posted. Great stuff. The super talented female guitarists of Japan (and also Korea) will keep the future of rock and metal alive!
All of them are amazing! Seen one of them, Kanami, perform live just 11 days ago at Ex Theater in Roppongi when Band-Maid and The Warning had an awesome show together \m/
Ok, you showcased already Sakura and Hal-C. And then go on with Rie a.k.a. Suzaku, Tomo Zo, Narumi .... and more... There are so many incredibly talented female guitarist (and other rock musicians) in Japan - it would take hours and hours to present them all as you did with this really wonderful video!👍👍👍👍🤟🤟🤟😀
I'm also a big fan of Gacharic Spin's Tomo-Zo! She's not the stereotypical super shredder but very versatile and I like how she combines chords and melodies in her solos. She is also a lead singer, unfortunately not on GS's two recent releases.
Great video, thanks for that!! All very talented and hard working women and it just boils down to what style and sense of melody each person prefers! M & M consistently tick all the boxes for me!!🤘
Thanks for a great video. In 1998 I was finishing a pharmacist internship in Virginia. One night we went to a rock club at this big bar in West-Virginia where a Queensrhyche tribute band was playing. The 2 lead guitarists were identical twin females from Japan. They had been accepted into medical school and playing for one last summer before attending college. These twin Japanese chicks whaled on the guitar.
If I had to choose between all of the extremely talented female guitarists coming from Japan I would choose Kanami above the rest. She not only is technically proficient with her instrument she is imaginatively creative. As impressive as it is to see many of these ladies flexing up and down the fretboard in an incredible display of fretboard gymnastics, and it is no doubt impressive as hell but after all is said and done it is just gymnastics, scale exercises performed with precision at records speeds. It is one thing to have the physical prowess to command your instrument and another to use that tool in distinct and creative ways. Technique is one thing but how that technique is applied and composed is another. I feel kanami has an extensive pallet of techniques to draw from in order to create a distinct sound of her own. Like a painter who has access to a wide array of colors to draw from she is not limited by anything which allows her the freedom to express herself and her art in interesting and imaginative ways all the others have not. Kanami may not be the flashiest or the most technical but she is the most imaginative and creative. Im sure if she wanted to she could but it does not serve the purpose of what music is in the first place. It is supposed to express and communicate something that words or pictures cannot. Music is to be experienced and felt at a direct and meaningful way and Kanami with her writing and playing is in tune with that form of expression. If anything many of us would like to see her extended her guitar soloing. She ultimately leaves you wanting more because of how good of a taste she provides. She ultimately serves what is needed to create what best serves the song and not serving herself and her ego. She is an unselfish creative artist that sees the importance of the composition over shininess of the composition. She definitely needs to be considered in the conversation of the all-time greats male or female.
I'm surprised you decided to make such an ignorant comment that guitarists like Miyako and Midori, Saki and Hazuki, Lisa-X are just doing fretboard gymnastics and scales. Kanami and Band Maid play an entirely different genre of rock music. Band Maid a more traditional rock while Nemophila and Lovebites are Metal. Kanami is good, an excellent guitarist who fits into Band Maids style. Is she on Miyako or Midori's level when it comes to shredding? Not even close. Kanami has to work for it. Can Kanami come in and shred along with Midori or Saki in a guitar dual? She was not that great soloing against Misa in Hate. On the other hand could Miyako come in and play for Kanami in Band Maid? With ease. Here is Saki as a soloist playing melodically and with texture and shredding like a boss, tempo and key changes throughout the song. Empress: ua-cam.com/video/t9mwlHKkLE0/v-deo.htmlsi=RbkXFH9vOhtLlIoT . Could Kanami put out a solo like this? That's a no.
I found the Japan metal/rock scene only in the last year and a half and I've been blown away at the talent. I'm so excited to see what the next several years bring.
Having lived in multiple parts of Japan for close to 20 years, I've noticed that Japanese people have beautiful and dexterous fingers. Hence they make incredible craftsman, model makers, artists and...musicians! Combine that with their commitment to practice and accuracy and they are quite invincible.
Yeah , all of these Female Guitarists are awesome , I was in Japan a few times and saw some of them live ! I`ve seen Saki 8 times with MarysBlood and also the first gig of Nemophila , 3 times Yuki with D Drive and 2 times Band Maid with Kanami and some more like Yashiro , Rie aka susaku , Eita , Bridear with Ayumi !
Gotta say, I love everyone on this list. Hard for me to pick a favorite because at any given moment they're all my favorites, and that's what's so beautiful about these ladies. Immense talents, each and every one , but if I had to pick one it would be Kanami because BAND-MAID was the first Japanese all female band I ever heard; and her writing, composing and playing skills are absolutely breathtaking 🙏🕊&❤
I'm old school dino rock and I mean old as dirt!!! For me Kanami all the way she's got the right stuff!😁 The others can play but there is just something about Kanami's style and feel when she plays that moves me the same way others like EVH, Schenker, SRV, Page, Clapton.....
Well, I like them all. Miyako & Midori are like the perfect Yin & Yang. Yuki posesses some real elegance in her playing and personality. Hazuki is really technical, Saki is the creative, free spirit blessed with charisma (and btw she is drop dead gorgeous), Lisa-X is a super talented shredding machine, Kanami embodies fun and creativity... In the next video show some love for Narumi-san, she is a really great musician (her solo album "The Seed" is awesome, she is not the typical metal guitarist). And oh yes, the tiny but mighty genius Hal-Ca is inevitable, I really admire her passion, charisma, technique and musical maturity :)
Great list of phenomenal guitarists. Lisa-X is the best technically from this list though not my favorite (only Hal-ca from part 2 is on her level). Miyako is the best overall musician (and it’s not really close). My personal favorite guitarist is Hazuki; 7strings, humility, and for the joy she exudes while playing.
Have to agree about Miyako. As an overall talent (piano, guitar, composing, arranging, and more) there really anyone that close to he in the bigger musician picture. Its why she has became my all-time favorite musician.
SAKI is my favourite. Apart from liking her playing style, I also totally covet her signature guitar and her Marshall Custom Shop Tattoo JVM and 1960. That said, I'm still a little sulky at her right now. All these players are great. Anyone who doesn't love Kanami is not to be trusted.
Glad to see this video at my homepage, thanks for showing me "female band side" of Japan, I have a new joy source thanks to you :) Btw do anyone know the song 10:26? I really like Kanami and her solos.
Thank you😁🤟 I'm glad you liked the video. First song is Band-Maid - Without Holding Back The second song is Band-Maid - Giovanni (instrumental version)
MIYAKO AND MIDORI are the best gitaris international' and world❤❤ now.honestly from me...because all music and lyrics from LOVEBITES are unique, power, best all everything.for example for song winds of transvlynia and shadowmaker are insane...M&M in one band are greatest in this decades.
Thank you for all the history I knew a lot of it but I love going over it. I was not aware that Yuki of "D Drive" is in a new band "East of Eden" just check them out I will be watching them. Since this is part 1 suspect we will be see Hal- Ca from Asterism in part 2
I hope you're going to include Gacharic Spin on the next video. Lead guitarist TOMO-ZO and bass guitarist F Chopper Koga are both amazing. They are both founding members of the band that formed 15 years ago.
Riko Kohara - Raise a Suilen Toki - Aldious Ayumi & Moe - Bridear Mina - Fate Gear Otsuka Sae - Rondo The list would continue, since Japan has great musicians, perhaps many are not known outside of Japan, in their country they are great legends. Those mentioned are the ones that react the most, you should expand the world of jrock more.
WOW!!! Nothing but talent… and what’s even better is that none of these talented guitarists had any visible tattoos! That alone is respect….. they are metal without trying to look metal and that is Effin bada55!!!! 🤘🏼❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏
It’s great to start with piano! The student learns to read music and use music theory! However these musicians started or their ages, the musicianship they demonstrate is rock-solid!
Not to nitpick, but Lovebites wasn't announced until May 24, 2016 (at that point it was only Miho Rosana and Haruna Ishikawa) and they did not, yet, have a name. Miyako (as support) and Midori joined in early summer. They picked Asami from auditions in the summer, and performed a "secret" show on August 4, 2016 as the "POWERSLAVES". They didn't debut as "Lovebites" until they had their first concert on November 18, 2016, at Tsutaya O-West as part of the Girls Band Next Generation event. For the show, they were supported by third guitarist Sena.
@@grapevine0719 You misunderstand her comment. She was already a live support member. And while this may have affected her decision to become a permanent member, she was a support member well before Asami was auditioned, and took part in the decision as a full member, per Miho Rosana

Ok, you showcased already Sakura and Hal-C. And then go on with Rie a.k.a. Suzaku, Tomo Zo, Narumi .... and more... There are so many incredibly talented female guitarist (and other rock musicians) in Japan - it would take hours and hours to present them all as you did with this really wonderful video!👍👍👍👍🤟🤟🤟😀
as a big fan of Lovebites of course my favorite duo is Midori & Miyako.glory to Lovebites
Your list is spot on!
For a part one, sure
I'm also a big fan of Gacharic Spin's Tomo-Zo! She's not the stereotypical super shredder but very versatile and I like how she combines chords and melodies in her solos. She is also a lead singer, unfortunately not on GS's two recent releases.
Tomo-Zo is the composer of most of GS's songs.
Thank you for the music, Saiki-Chan…I can only hope to catch you live one of these days. Your contribution to Japanese metal is invaluable. 🔥🇯🇵🤘🍻💕
Saiki is BAND-MAID’s singer.
Fat fingers. 🤷♂️🤣
Mincho...#1
Great video, thanks for that!! All very talented and hard working women and it just boils down to what style and sense of melody each person prefers! M & M consistently tick all the boxes for me!!🤘
Amazing. That ending was hilarious. Can't wait for the new album
All the ladies are incredible but for me, it’s Kanami. She also writes and arranges all of Band Maids songs and is an accomplished pianist. ❤️
No need for arguments to justify your favorite, especially not ones that fit exactly on at least 4 others on this list lol.
I found the Japan metal/rock scene only in the last year and a half and I've been blown away at the talent. I'm so excited to see what the next several years bring.
I think they're all great musicians with their own style and technique. They fit in their groups perfectly.
I`ve seen Saki 8 times with MarysBlood and also the first gig of Nemophila ,
3 times Yuki with D Drive and 2 times Band Maid with Kanami and some more like Yashiro , Rie aka susaku , Eita , Bridear with Ayumi !
I forgot to list Eita, yes
Kanami's solos are in human form. So I love her and Band Maid.
Kanami writes the songs i want to listen to over and over, shes my choice
Biggest faves: M&M + Hal-ca (she should be mentioned in the 2nd video together with Narumi)
HaL -Ca gets my vote , Bucket Head was so impressed with her band that he played a couple of songs on their Album .
Impressed❤
Cheers from 🇩🇪
A very fine list it is! Outstanding talent across the whole video.
My favorite is Band-Maid and Kanami. They are my favorite band, period.
Glad to see this video at my homepage, thanks for showing me "female band side" of Japan, I have a new joy source thanks to you :) Btw do anyone know the song 10:26? I really like Kanami and her solos.
Thank you😁🤟 I'm glad you liked the video.
First song is Band-Maid - Without Holding Back
The second song is Band-Maid - Giovanni (instrumental version)
@@venusgaijin Oh weow... These are the best things I've ever heard in a while. Thank you so much.🤩
@insomnia-drct5703 You're welcome, man👊 (I guess)
I like Kanami because I can hear it is her playing. It is melodic and fun, fast and slow and space for her band maids, who are just as cool.
Miyako and Midori are my Top 2 Guitarists in Rock/Metal Music !
I also love and admire Miyako's wonderful work as a Composer !!
🩷🐺🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Miyako and Midori!!!
Thank you for all the history I knew a lot of it but I love going over it. I was not aware that Yuki of "D Drive" is in a new band "East of Eden" just check them out I will be watching them. Since this is part 1 suspect we will be see Hal- Ca from Asterism in part 2
Next time, I will also ask you to introduce Sakura Yoshida of HAGANE and HAL-CA of Asterism to you.
I fully support ❤
Sakura is amazing
tomo-zo (gacharic spin)
Most underrated guitarist
MIYAKO anda MIDORI from LOVEBITES all the best from them...have natural talented.world the female best guitaris and keyboard...
they are all great but for me its miyako
Midori and Miyako great combo
Love Band-maid definitely the best group ever!
It will always be Mincho for me ❤
I can't help but get the impression that Japanese ladies also seem to have produced some wicked drummers!
I hope you're going to include Gacharic Spin on the next video. Lead guitarist TOMO-ZO and bass guitarist F Chopper Koga are both amazing. They are both founding members of the band that formed 15 years ago.
Midori💚💚💚💚💚
Riko Kohara - Raise a Suilen
Toki - Aldious
Ayumi & Moe - Bridear
Mina - Fate Gear
Otsuka Sae - Rondo
The list would continue, since Japan has great musicians, perhaps many are not known outside of Japan, in their country they are great legends. Those mentioned are the ones that react the most, you should expand the world of jrock more.
Mincho❤
Midori/Miyako 🤘🏴
WOW!!! Nothing but talent… and what’s even better is that none of these talented guitarists had any visible tattoos! That alone is respect….. they are metal without trying to look metal and that is Effin bada55!!!! 🤘🏼❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏
Kanami ❤❤❤ forever....
Kanami Band-Maid, Midori Lovebites and Toki Aldious
1. M&M Lovebites💚💚❤❤
2. Yuki D-Drive
3. Saki ex Nemophila
4. Sakura Yoshida Hagane
5. Toki Aldious
Miyako自身は、Asamiの歌声のデモテープを聞いたのがきっかけで、LOVEBITESに参加することを決めたと話しています。
Miho posted on X that she and Sena met again on April 12 for the first time since that time.
@@grapevine0719 You misunderstand her comment. She was already a live support member. And while this may have affected her decision to become a permanent member, she was a support member well before Asami was auditioned, and took part in the decision as a full member, per Miho Rosana

KANAMI FOR EVER
個人的にはラブバイツが一番だと思います。
Let us not forget Chizuru who plays with Senri's fusion band.
She is definitely a genius.
In another five years, "Kinoko Helmet" will be ranked.
I got a crush on Miyako from lovebites because of her playing style
That Li-Sa-X clip at 25:11 is just so far beyond insane that it's almost criminal.
Miyako Lovebites!!😍🥰
BAND-MAID & Kanami👍
0:49 miyako
3:26 midori
5:51 yuki
10:07 kanami
14:26 hazuki
17:44 saki
21:04 lisa x
I gotta say it’s going to be Kanami for me, I absolutely love the melodies she chooses the different styles that she brings to the table and her phrasing. In my opinion, she’s a one of a kind.
Japan has so many talented young musicians. There must be something in the 水.
I bet, when they tried to lure Amaterasu out of her cave there was a metal band playing 🤘
For me, Miyako is the best for her musical versatility and excellence.
I just skimmed the video so maybe I missed her but I would add Mitsuru, formerly of Bridear, Mada Sekai now. But there are SO MANY amazing Japanese women guitarists. This has been my main genre for years and I keep finding more.
