- Heeeeey lovelies!
Welcome to this tutorial which will take you through two methods of creating your very own paper/watercolor/acrylic texture canvas for Procreate.
Sometime you just want to feel like you are drawing on real paper right? Ofc it is hard to replicate the life-like feeling of drawing on real paper, but with these two super easy methods it can come prettyyyyy close and look like you are drawing on a real canvas.
In this video I am using some of my own custom made brushes - You can download all my 27 brushes as a set from my Etsy store right here:

Thank you so much! This was the most helpful video I've found for creating a texture paper look in Procreate.
OMG Line 😍❤️❤️❤️ *Your a genius.* I was literally googling canvas images to import as a layer to paint digitally on a canvas layer because I miss painting on a real canvas. I am so glad I found you Line. Your truly an amazing illustrator and give cool ideas on your videos. I am honestly shocked you don't have a million subscribers yet. Your very intelligent, been drawing since you were little, I mean it shows. I will watch each new video you create to learn and just enjoy.
This completely answered my question about how to make a background paper texture. Thank you!
i’ve been trying to make a canvas brush for so long and use other things, this helped a lot!
Love your tips and that you take your time to explain everything step by step, in such a kind and smooth way. And your transparency is really great, that way we can learn what to do and not to do, by actually seeing what happens. Thank you so much for your videos
Thank you so much for this comment!
I love watching you work. So many beautiful textures! Thank you for explaining your process! I’m trying to learn procreate and this was super helpful!

Useful ... Thanks ❣️
Thank you Bjork.
Thank you so much!
Do you use a matte screen protector like paperlike? Ive been searching your channel for the answer, but haven't found one yet. Thank you so much for all the videos, my favorite channel by far. I cant wait to get my new ipad pro soon.
Great video. Thank you. Question for you - at 14:09 in the video, I can see options under the blending mode options like dark, contrast, etc. I have not been able to find these simplified options anyplace in Procreate. I'd simply like to use the contrast option for a quick and easy contrast adjustment without having to use curves. Any suggestions?
Same with me
Very nice tutorial
Thank you :)
Très, très bien expliqué, merci Line !
Thank you so much you rescue my live
Thank you
hey! i love this and can't wait to try it out when i'm next doodling in procreate. one thing i noticed is the thin white border you have your canvas, is there anything you did the get that so precise? sorry if you explained it, i watched through twice and haven't seen it mentioned!
It’s only on the screen. When you export the drawing it isn’t there. 👍🏼
Omg I love u
Thanks :)
Thank you, this was a awesome video. I have a question, when Procreate does the upgrade will your brushes still stay imported or will we have to reimport them?
Oh, that is a great question! I honestly don't know for sure, but it would be very wierd if it removed the brushes. I've had several updates for my ipad and procreate and it never removed my custom-made brushes. So it really shouldn't happen. If by some chance it happens and you lose the brushes, shoot me an email and I can send them to you directly. Just make sure to save the receipt ;)
Beinkamp draws ok, Thank you, I was just curious......I still have the original purchased link saved so I wouldn’t be completely lost.
Hey guys a big confusion I had was thinking I had to set it too darken since procreate has been updated and no longer has blend modes in categories but all together, instead hit multiply on the third
layer instead of darken ! It should look like this 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇
Layer three has the same paper texture of layer one but set to multiply (not darken )
Layer two has lines and solid colors
Layer one has paper texture
❤❤❤
Nice video! What you think about the new Magic Papers for procreate? Its just been released but hearing good things about it but something still holding me back :) its only 15 bucks but i hate how it takes up 5 layers from the total count.
I have to be honest and say that I haven't tried them yet!
They are brilliant you should defo try them!
It only works if I set my drawing layer on multiply too
You can also take a literal picture of actual paper you like. I’ve done this many times and it works well.
Even that pear is better than anything I could draw
Can someone tell me how sometimes they have an outline on their brushes when they use them.
For me it has always been like that. I suppose it's just the default settings. But you can adjust it yourself :) Go to the Actions Menu > Prefs and toggle on “Brush Cursor”. You will now see an outline of your brush shape as you draw.
Is there a way to save that paper? So that I don’t have to make it again every time
I’m pretty sure that if you make it on a single layer or merge them at the end you can just copy and paste it into whatever new project you’re working on :)
You can save the canvas itself ;) and basically reuse it again and again, it’s been three years you asked, but I thought I’ll answer anyway
Can I just copy yours
Uhm.. it doesn‘t work for me 🥺
Right the newer version I can’t find that multiply section
Put the caption on and speed 1.75, thank me later.

The answer could fit in 2 minutes but it is 16 min why 🤦🏼♀️
Or just use infinite painter and turn on paper texture
Oh the never ending battle between procreate and infinite painter ;)
look the video is great but seeing procreate on light mode just hurts my soul
Why did that take 20 minutes to explain? 😂😂😂 wtf?
