You are loved Lee, you are brave, you share your deepest vulnerabilities with us, and we are grateful. There is no one more trustworthy to help dogs learn their own life lessons. Moo (and maybe the rest of your pack) learned the lesson that "Dad will always love us, and will do everything to bring us back home" Lee, you are the BESt dad and pack leader ever!
Lee - you are human!! No judgment here! We are ALL human and make mistakes!!! Am a 76 old South African woman, who loves your channel and what you do for our doggie family!!!! Wish all humans loved and treated our loyal friends as you do!!! Best wishes. A pat for each dog --when you have time! Your channel is therapeutic!🥰🐶🐶
It's exactly the same with cats. Inside, they are pussy cats, rub adub dub belly time. Purry, fussy, pussy cats. All over you. But, once outside it's ,, Huh. Do I know you? . Done care . I'm Off!,, And they're gone. You may as well not exist. They are consumed by their wild, feral instincts once again. They will come home. But in their time, not yours !😅
I didn’t even think about leaving your scent everywhere and the dog will follow it that didn’t even cross my mind. Moo was punishing you for not taking him. Some dogs are extremely smart but they can be little stinkers too. The worry you go through from point A to point G can make you exhausted with worry. Don’t be so hard on yourself you learned a negative lesson that turned into a positive one. It can always be worse but it wasn’t >Be happy he’s safe and back home. No one is perfect..,
He definiitively is harder on himself then he is on his animals. Meh, the man has so much humility but has a cemented back up army of followers that know him and would do anything for him including trying to send a message to his amydala that he is being hyper self-critical.
Welcome to parenthood. We all make mistakes with our "children". Moo had an adventure alone and he loved it. My pit used to jump my fence and the neighborhood kids would tell me he's loose. After many times of chasing him down, I realized he thought it was a game. So I told the kids not to chase him. He just wanted an adventure. So I would sit on the curb where he can see me and he would eventually come to me. Its a learning experience. You are alright! Moo is alright. God's blessings
Yes you are right, they are after all, our children, so we must think of them as such, and not expect them to be as "grown up" as us.... bet...deleted some in error
OMG same thing with my old blue heeler. Only thing that worked was going inside and closing the doors. If I tried to catch her at all it was like "game of chase is still in play- let's gooooo!"
Lee, we all have screwed up and when it's over we beat ourselves up. It's ok. Never lost a dog, but thought I did, (he was hiding because he had poop on his butt) I couldn't figure out how he got out of the yard(he didnt) and for hours I searched, until he came out from his hiding place because he missed his dinner. I tell you, no disrespect to human parents, but it felt like my kid was lost somewhere and I was helpless to figure out where. The poop stayed on him for a day, because he continued to hide from me and I was too "pooped" myself to chase him through the house, under beds, behind bookcases....you can imagine. It's ok, Lee, you've made this a learning experience for all of us. Forgive yourself.❤️❤️
Man Lee, you've had a hard year. I'm glad Moo came back and you were reunited. Don't be hard on yourself, I think you'll help alot of people with this video.
Yes Lee, you on too hard on yourself. But you are very honest with your "people of the page". We love you.. Do you know of any good rescues in Fla.? I know u don't answer these , but I thought I might ask anyway.
I would never understand anyone hating him for any reason. All the good he does and seems to be as a person. I’m so thankful for all he does. And he shares all his ups and downs! It just shows we are all human and need help from time to time. Thank you Mr. Lee Asher.
It would be incredibly hard for me not to drive around EVERYWHERE and get the entire neighborhood to look! But, Bab’s words are so logical! This will NEVER leave my mind!
Lee, IT'S OKAY. _IT'S OVER._ Don't beat yourself up. You have such a big heart, and you're so emotionally "squishy" (meaning you're a cuddly guy) and you wear your heart on your sleeve always. Mistakes will happen, even to the best pet parents. And you are seriously one of the best out there. Animals and situations are ever-changing, and can change on a dime. And like you said, YOU LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES. Moo's okay, and he's right there, and he still loves you, and he is _over it,_ and has moved on (one of the best things about dogs!).
@@tatjanaeberhardinger2625 agree, and what I learned from the universe after losing immediate family members in a tragic plane crash during a key time in my childhood is that, and after doing a painstaking search for the meaning of it is that the universe is random…not everything happens for a reason. Also that people are incredibly resilient and can recover from the worst losses, like losing a child, given the proper resources and emotional support.
Oh Lee, please don’t beat yourself up, Moo is back safely and in your loving care once more. You are an amazing person and are a special Dad to all of those rescued animals in your care. Thank you for letting us all know so we can learn from this experience too. Best wishes always from Janet in Australia.
I did NOT KNOW, not to chase my dog, if she runs off. 😮 THIS video will help SO many that lose their puppies! Thanks for sharing this. Nobody's perfect. 😇🐕🐕🐕
You're getting a big hug from all of your "true" followers with this one Lee. You're trying to keep your emotions in check --- go dark for a few days and know we truly care for you. I don't think any comments we give can bring relief at this time. One of my goals is to learn something new each day, and we all learned something today thanks to your transparency. We love you!
That's a huge sweeping comment. How do you know it's "unparalleled"? I don't think it's healthy to put anyone on such a pedestal. It only fires up their self criticism when they make mistakes. He's human like the rest of us.
Lee, you are human, and thus fallible. Please forgive yourself. We love and support you. I've done a similar thing with my 2 dogs and thankfully, they too were safe. I am still living with guilt months later. I look at my boys every day and am horrified to think I could have lost them forever. I'm so sorry you are struggling, I hope you find forgiveness for yourself. You do so much good in this insane world.
Ditto…I agree with everything that Annie wrote! Stop beating yourself up over this!! Give yourself the same compassion you extend to every animal that enters your life!!
I couldn’t agree more. As the saying goes “to err is human, to forgive is divine”, allow yourself some grace and forgive the mistake. You were blessed with a great outcome and a valuable lesson to pass on. We are all better equipped because you chose to share this deeply personal experience.💕
Yes, the idea of spreading your scent too thin is an awesome lesson ... but I still don't understand how the dog got out of the car in the first place ...
200 million people all over the world has made that mistake including me...but what you have just shared with millions of people is a very valuable lesson to us all. that has happened to each and every one of us...I hope we have all learned from your extremely traumatic experience with Moo...Thanku God Moo came back safely and back with her human loving caring Daddy.. Im watching this at 2am , can't sleep...for a moment there I thought the worst...My heart broke for you, but then there she was....I was so happy....You just continue doing what u r doing....I wish you well with all the furry babies..
I went through this with my dog years ago when we were moving into a new house. Your friend, Babs, is absolutely correct. After hours of chasing and searching, I went back to the house and sat on the porch. My dog came out of nowhere, covered in sand. I ask her, "Where is there a beach?" I gave this advice to a neighbor who went through the same thing, but they ignored me, saying I was crazy. I ended up rescuing their dog with this method.
Too funny. 😂 “Where is the beach?” It is wonderful when we can come to the point where and when we can laugh at ourselves after we have a terrible time or made a terrible mistake. That rarely happens for me but it can. And it feels like you are levitating. Laughter is the best medicine or a good medicine.Of course, there are so many natural good highs. Animals, music, the ocean, the forest, Jesus, can be the best medicine. Thanks Milton. That was funny. 🤪😅🤔🐕. Animals make us laugh, and I think, in the joy and comfort they bring and give to us the same experience that laughter does for us, the same neurotransmiters are activated as laughter does. But, I am not a brain surgeon.
Our scaredy-cat dog was running in the desert for about a week. How he survived is an act of God…and your telling Moo’s story brought it all back. Nothing but grace, love and compassion, Lee. 💗💗💗
As a dog owner myself, I want to thank you for sharing this …. I’ve learnt something I would never have known… I feel more prepared if one of mine goes running off. Xxxx Love what you do Lee…. You are an inspiration for us all - thanks, from Sweden ❤❤
Thanks for the advice. I have a 12 old dog that I have had for most of her life and I fear that someone will leave the gate open and she gets out. She is my life line in that I am 84yrs old and she is my world so I understand how frantic you were. My next door neighbor has 3 dogs and her most “beloved” got out and she panicked! She was able to fine her dog much to her relief but she reacted in the same way you did. I hope that I remember your experience if my dog ever gets out!!! I know how you felt in your anxiety to find your beloved animal.
Babs Fry is local to me. She's EVERYONE'S go-to and there are dogs lost around here ALLL the time. She could probably teach us a lot of lessons. Glad to hear things worked out. I can't imagine if I lost any of my babies.
Wow! Moo, you had a big adventure! Now your grounded for a really long time ! LEE YOU GOT moo Back ! You did nothing wrong. The dog jumped out. I learned this, keep a pillow and a blanket and grilled Chicken in my car at All times . …Incase shit goes down . I WILL NOT LEAVE! I am sleeping right at the spot my dog went MIA. Do not cry Lee . I can tell you were so upset , tears of joy . MOO IS SAFE HOME WITH HIS DAD! Happy Ending !❤
Oh Lee, how devastating for you. I would have reacted the same way as you, so this is such good information. Thank you. I guess a way to explain Moo’s reaction on being out, was that it was nothing personal to you but that he was just ‘In the Moment’. But something for you to take in, is that he came back to you. How could he not! You are the most wonderful dog dad, that any dog could ever have 💗
Lee, those haters are hipocrites!! I cannot believe they have never made any mistakes with their pets. I love all my pets! I love those that aren't even mine. I loose sleep knowing there are animals all around the world being abused. I get very depressed with this world of cruelty towards animals ABD yet I've made mistakes to the past with my pets. SO with that said PLEASE do not torture yourself or much less let those "haters" put you down. We love you and keep being you and doing what you're doing with those babies.
You are a wonderful person no one is perfect and you are so sincere, dogs 🐶 our like kids and as parents it is tough sometimes. So happy you found him , I like what the lady told you . I hope somday to visit your sanctuary . I can see you are in tears so scary and so sorry sending hugs for you both ❤. God Bless you ❤
When we experience a PTSD trigger event (like this) we also are in a survival mode... fight, flight, freeze. Yes, we then make some decisions that are fear based and illogical. Having someone to "talk us down" is so helpful. I know it's super hard NOT to minimise, justify and save face sometimes, especially when we will be judged harshly. I have found that the times I have been brutally honest with myself and others about what happened, even if it looks bad, I have felt easier in my spirit. I recall once cutting my dogs skin with scissors whilst attempting to remove a matted bit of fur. I ugly cried on the way to the vet and was distraught there. They managed to calm things down and said "sometimes these things happen". Billy was fine through all of this. The thing is... I knew it happened because I just didn't take more care. Owning that helped me to accept that I was at fault. Was able to forgive myself then because although humans are perfectly imperfect but accountability and honesty helped me move on. I feel you mate. The lessons learned make us better animal carers and companions to them.
I can’t even imagine how many people this situation is going to help. I think many of us place you on a high pedestal for all that you do and I truly appreciate your transparency with all of us to remind us of just how human you are. You have had an emotionally draining week and I pray for some beautiful doggie daddy moments to bring peace and calmness to your soul . I can only imagine what Moo thought when he saw your truck parked there late that night….. ❤❤❤
I'm so glad Moo is ok. I never thought about staying in one place to not spread your scent. It's my biggest fear for my dog (Jack) to get out especially now that he's older and hard of hearing and having trouble seeing. I completely agree with you that you went through this so that you could help others. You're wonderful and thank you for helping all those sweet puppies!
Our furbabys are exactly like children. It happens to all of us... We all make mistakes, and believe me, we all learn from our mistakes.. we're so happy moo is back and you're doing okay too♥️🫶🏼♥️ We love you too Lee☺️
When you replace "why is this happening with what is this trying to teach me, everything shifts -Lee you are so amazing I am in Florida and my 2 sons go to UCF where many of the students were displaced from hurricane Ian and are without food and electricity I was just at Pet Smart to buy some supplies, I saw these 2 girls w/UCF shirts on and a puppy they were buying supplies for it was clear it was a new puppy I asked them where they got her, and they said they just rescued her this morning well it immediately hit my heart to bless them and give them a 100.00 as a random act of kindness I told them go buy whatever you need for your puppy-they started to cry . Lee I would have never done that had I not been following Asher house-but when they said they just rescued her from a shelter my first thought was you and all you do to rescue ; you do so much you are so loving and kind and things happen Thank you for being such a beautiful soul!!
That was so sweet and generous of you. Rewarding those girls for rescuing will never be forgotten and I believe they will always and forever Rescue instead of shopping for a pet. Bless you and Thank you for your kindness.
Lee, your story reminded me of something my dad said to me when I was a little girl. “If you get lost, stay where you are, dont try and find your way back. We will find you” Dads point was that as you are moving, so are your rescuers, so you can be missing each other. It applies both in humans and our pets, but in the reverse. Stay put and your pet will find you. I know it is hard though, because of the panic, your heart in your throat, the anxiety of losing your fur baby. Great lesson .Bless your heart
After watching with great interest how you first got Moo, and more recently hearing of the trauma you’ve experienced when you can’t readily locate a dog, I can only imagine how difficult this was for you. So thankful that it turned out well.
I can’t believe I’ve fallen in love with this rescue and your animals and THEN, I hear Babs Fry’s name! I live in the eastern part of San Diego County and she is so popular here for finding animals! We didn’t find our Chewie, and he should never have been outside on his own (cats and coyotes don’t mix), we felt your pain, 2 years later and we still feel it. The guilt I’ve felt is immeasurable, he was our autistic daughter’s emotional support animal and she had him since he was one day old. I’m so glad Moo is home, he is so lucky. No one should comment anything hateful, but they will and for that I am sorry. My dream would be to do what you do, you are an angel on Earth.
Thank you & Babs Fry for educating us. *Also, like with children, there is no manual. When we adopted our pup, no staff told us the brilliant lesson Babs shared. Please don't listen to haters & know EVERYONE, including haters, have lessons to learn. Kiss all.the pups for us. & again, thank you for sharing with us.
WOW! This is hard-to-follow advice but it makes so much sense! Would have never thought that looking for them makes it harder for them to come back. So sad you had to go through it, but thankful Moo is safely home! Thanks for your honesty and transparency! Maybe Moo's name should be SKP!
May not have even been Lee's mistake. Maybe someone tried to steal Moo and he ran away from the stranger that opened the door? So glad he is home safe, Lee has been nothing but an Angel to many animals and now with this lesson passed on to us we can help many more lost dogs. THANK YOU LEE FOR SHARING.
You're absolutely right! I had a friend of mine open the door of an SUV and let a dog out and gave it water because she didn't think the window was rolled down enough to let the dog breathe. I remember telling her she had to write a note to the owner and let him know where she put him and she did .
You are an earth angel, Lee. And apparently, even an earth angel can make mistakes. I'm glad that everything turned out OK and that we all learned from it. The best part is hearing adorable Moo's loud snoring throughout as he sleeps peacefully by your side. God bless you and all the animals.♥
Just listening my heart hurt for you. I understand why you were devastated by this experience, but you are so hard in yourself. In every Asher House video I have watched, it is so very obvious how much you love animals, how sincere and genuine your compassion and concern for each and every.animal you take under your wing is. The record you are making of this journey is a wonderful gift to everyone that watches your channel. I think that through your eyes the world of animal rescue, rehabilitation and adoption is seen in a more important, demanding, and noble light. I think by watching your channel and learning from your sharing of this life... those who already love animals feel encouraged, even compelled to do more and give more. And, those people that, for whatever reason, have not noticed or felt compassion for the tragic plight that many domestic and farm animals find themselves in without the ability to help themselves, by listening to you and learning from your honest experiences are moved to act and help in some way. Lee, even the hard experiences that you share teach us all. If any communication comes your way that is critical just delete their comments. As you mentioned, you are far harder on yourself than they could ever be. Personal boundaries are necessary, especially when living your life so publicly. To be able to go the distance with.this important work, keep your focus on what you are doing right. That which we focus on grows. More sharing of your joys and successes. I wasnt even going to comment since it was obvious to me that you had everything in hand. I just clicked on some positive comments from your other followers. But, I could not leave this page without thanking you and your team for the love, protection and care given and sacrifices made to make the world a better place. Best wishes to you and yours for a blessed and joyful Christmas season and much health, happiness, progress and prosperity at Asher House in 2023. Sincerely, Anita
Too hard on yourself. I had a cat who NEVER left my property. NEVER. She would sit AT the curb and watch people, other animals. She came up missing one evening. I would typically go to my front door and call her in for the night. This night, she didn't show up. I drove around calling her. . . no show. Next day calling and calling. . no show. I went to the Animal control . . She is wasn't there. I left a full description and my contact info. I went to the Klamath animal shelter. . Again, she wasn't there. Left full description and Contact info. The weekend rolled around and I visited both places again. . Still no TJ. Ten days after she disappeared, I heard a cry at the front door. . . T j had made her way home. Her paws were all swollen, she was both hungry and thirsty. She got pampered and spoiled written. What I "figured" had happened? She used to crawl into my truck during the day, cold and snowy, and lay out in the sun. I think she crawled into some other vehicle and went for a ride. I had her til she was 18 years old. My kids grew up and left home, but TJ was still with me another six years. The bond we make with our fur babies is stronger than cement. God Bless You for sharing, your experience and the lesson you learned.
Anita, thank you, I couldn't have possibly said it better. Lee, you are a very gifted, very loving person. Please never ever be so hard on yourself. God Bless you!
So beautifully said Anita! Everything I would have wished to say myself but now don't need to. But just to Dave himself: Please stop beating yourself up - it was a very tiny mistake to leave the back window open (albeit with potentially grave consequences) but just acknowledge the extremely helpful advice that Babs F gave you and now you have paid it on to thousands of us who can also learn from it. Your loving kindness for animals always shines through and is an inspiration and joy for us all. Shine On Baby! X
Oh, Lee, you learned a valuable lesson, but God was merciful! I know how much you suffered! I actually lost one of my 2-legged kids at an amusement park & my sister & I, along with the staff at the park looked for him for about 4 hours! Believe me, we all do it! Thanks for sharing, & for giving some much-needed advice ❤❤❣️❣️❣️ P.S.; Don't beat yourself up so much! You're great❣️
Lee, things happen. Please don't beat yourself up. Thank you for sharing these tips with us. I wish I knew it sooner when my cat ran away from our new house. We made all of those mistakes while searching for him and never got him back. This is the reality of our life. We are all in this together. None of us are all-knowing and all-seeing and things happen. 💙💛
This advice saved our dog: If you have to leave the area, leave a pile of your "scent", clothes, and blankets, or whatever, where he was last seen. He will probably be "parked" there, when you get back. Really works!
Bless your heart....you sound like you need to get some rest!!! Those babies love you and know you mean well for their care!! Humanity is not perfect. You making this video shows your responsibility in the matter. When you do good, it comes back to you. You are loved Lee!!!
You (and Babs) have just helped countless owners and their dogs. I'm sorry you had these terrifying ten hours but there is absolutely no reason to beat yourself up. None. So glad Moo is safe and that you put out this video.
Dear Lee, Moo forgives you, we forgive, Babs forgives you, Jesus forgives you, now you need to forgive yourself. Nobody is perfect, you have a beautiful heart ❤ God bless you, Moo, and Babs Fry.
We all make mistakes, I'm 40 and still making them. Getting carried away in the moment is so easy to do, and there's so many rescuers, and people helping, who openly admit their mistakes. They sound as upset, sometimes even more upset, than you are now. I bet you are So relieved that Moo is safe, and it must have been terrifying for you both! At times, all we can take away is what we've learnt 💗
I’m so sorry you had to go through this! I have an escape artist who thinks it’s the time of her life to run. If I chase her, she thinks it’s a game. I have to go sit in my driveway and wait for her. It’s only happened a couple of times, but it panics me every time!
Oh, man! I'm so sorry you guys went through this, but glad Moo came home. I was not so lucky, and still beat myself up over my mistake - ten years later.
It's a heart stopping moment when a pet goes missing, even for a relatively short time. Thanks for Babs's tip. I look after other people's dogs and will definitely pass on your story. Once again you demonstrate your selfless devotion to the cause and your love of all the animals. Hope it helps that by sharing this experience and now reading all the comments you know how much support you have. Keep on talking... and singing... and sharing the joy of what you do! Love from England
I went thru something similar when in Md visiting family. But tho my situation was resolved in about a half hour it seemed like an eternity. I'm so glad to hear this info via Babs cause I did the same as you...crying, calling her, running around, driving around and my darling Rose was literally waiting for me on the porch. 💜
You are so hard on yourself. What you did in taking him and leaving him even for an extended time ( because you got caught up with other lovelies) was a totally normal human activity. You are truly an unmatched pet parent/ animal activist. So glad Moo is back!! I hope in all the things you learned one of the most important is also self-compassion.
I totally understand how you must feel but at the end of the day Moo is safe and home, you need to stop beating yourself up and draw a line under this. You are such a fantastic human being and all your fur babies are so lucky to have you look after them. Sending love and hugs from the UK. 🐈🐕🐈🐕🐈🐕
The most important thing is that we admit our mistakes and learn from them. I admire you for doing both and to share so we can also learn. What Babs told you was very logical and I'm so thankful that you got Moo back. I know you do what ever you can to keep your animals safe so please don't beat yourself up over this, it could have happened to anyone. Thankfully it all came out well and this information also will help so many other animals and owners. ❤🥰
Why would anyone hate this? It's heart warming that this wise lesson worked & Moo returned as predicted. The same thing happened to me many times with an expert escaper rescue. She always returned in her own time (while I chewed my fingers to the bone just waiting).
We are human, and I have a runner, so I understand. He's even tried to jump out of a half down truck window to go after another dog. I always think I'm making mistakes, and I probably am, but as you said, we learn lessons. I am hard on myself too, and no one can make me feel worse than I already feel - that's innate with people who have tons of empathy.
My dog Charlie was a runner and one day 10 years ago he did get out of the car window and went after the neighbor dog. Big dog fight. It’s was a traumatizing event for me with a very angry neighbor.
Thank you Lee. I learned valuable information from your story. I will always remember. I will also share this with others. So you see you have touched many many people and what a tremendous legacy. We love you and appreciate you more than words can say. Obviously you found your purpose in life as it was and is .....your destiny. ❣️🐾❣️🐾❣️🐾❣️
Hey, it's ok. You give so much love and all of yourself to these babies. It helps to share the story and you are so brave to put it up here publicly and talk about the fear and trauma and regret. Thank you for everything you do, for being so authentic, pure, and intentional.
Lee, you are an amazing angel to all the animals you rescue. You know how to make them feel safe with you so they WANT to go to the shelter with you. As much as you know about animals, there’s always something else to learn. I’m relieved you were directed to call Babs. Thank you for sharing what you learned. You taught me something I didn’t know either. Be gentle with yourself. You only did what you thought was right. When you had accurate information, you did what was needed. Prayers for you. I’m glad Moo is back with you.
Thanking God you and Moo are safely back together- you did nothing wrong! You did what you thought was right! Lesson learned. Thanks for sharing your experience with us! ❤️
Like another person on here said, be as kind to yourself as you are to your animals. Like Maya Angelou said, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” Now you have your sweet Moo back and you can put that into the past and move on from here doing better. No need to beat yourself up anymore. You are a great person and so many people appreciate what you do for animals. I have 5 rescues myself (2 dogs and 3 cats). There is nothing like a rescued animal to give you the gift of the love they have in their hearts. Take care!!
This is such a lovely community. So much compassion ❤️ I'm so pleased you found Babs, and your dear furry came back too. Of course he did, he loves you!
Years ago, when I had my dogs Mealie and Joey, I had many frightening occurrences. We'd be walking happily through an old cemetery or a field (farm country, where I grew up), and once when I was hanging clothes on a line with them just lounging around close by, it was incredible what happened...Joey was a lot younger than Mealie. He was a dog that was born to run, and I accomodated that need in every way I could. But the second I looked away, they were GONE. I mean gone! In less than ten seconds they were barely visible. I would shout myself hoarse calling but they just kept going, JoJoe the ringleader with Mealie right behind, trying to keep up. Twice I remember very clearly finding them late at night waiting patiently for me where I'd last seen them, once at the cemetery and once at a friend's house at the lake where we'd gone for a visit. The friends called me in the middle of the night to tell me they'd finally come back. I spoke to people several times who'd seen them on their forays and remarked how beautiful they were and what they'd been up to. One time there had been a grass fire close by which caused them to lose their scent and Mealie spent the night on a kind woman's porch. She was shaking from fright when I went to get her. Another time I was driving slowly through the village and saw this beautiful dog on a porch. He made no move toward the car and I remember saying, "Wow, what a pretty dog. It looks a little like Joey, but it couldn't be." Nevertheless I backed up and entered the driveway. He stayed where he was, looking at me inquisitively. That's when I saw the bell hanging from his red collar. "Joey?" I called to him, puzzled as to why he hadn't run to meet me. He got up and walked to the car, probably expecting to get a piece of my mind, but I never wanted them to associate coming back with anything but happiness, so many times I had to swallow my anger and literally kneel on the ground with my arms open wide to greet them enthusiastically. Of course that was after I learned that acting mad just made Joey sit in a field afraid to come home. This whole thing only stopped on the day when Mealie, who had arthritis and was getting pretty old, finally slowed at my repeated, frantic calls as they were disappearing from view. I saw her slowing down and then stopping, and finally she turned and headed back. Her little legs just couldn't run like that any more. When Joey realized she wasn't following, he stopped, gave this look as if to say, "What's going on?" He turned around, came back, followed her inside, and they never did it again. How I miss them.
My dog was in the street once when I was driving home from the store. No one stopped to help her. I stopped my car when I came near her and opened the back door. She jumped right in. Thank God she didn't get hit. I never found out how she even got out of the house.
Man, you have a beautiful soul! I am so glad I found your channel! You’ve learned a valuable lesson with that, and weird things happen sometimes. Your pets are so lucky to have you and your heart is in the right place! Take care!
And make sure the window isn’t open so much that the dog can jump out. My dog recently jumped out of my car but luckily came right back. So glad you and Moo are back together!!
I've recently started watching your videos. I have three rescue dogs and love them with all my heart. Today's story was a very brave share and incredibly helpful to me. Thank you. ❤
WOW! I’ve learned SO MUCH from you, Lee. Here again, is another lesson to be learned. If I had been in your shoes, I would’ve taken the same steps you did. What a blessing that you had BABS FRY to assist you in the correct way to handle this situation! SERIOUSLY, DO NOT be hard on yourself. I’m sorry for the 12 harrowing hours of worry & being upset that you experienced, & for Moo, if it was upsetting for him. However, I do believe you will help hundreds, if not thousands of people that watch this video, to know the correct way to handle their dog running off! From the bottom of my heart, Thank you, Lee, for sharing your experience with us! ♥️🐶♥️🐶♥️🐶♥️🐶♥️
So many people look up to you and The Asher House, and you've proven, even with your incredible affinity for animals, that you are human and make mistakes. This is a great thing because this message will reach so many people who wouldn't have seen it otherwise. The fact that you were able to help someone else the very next day shows me this is true. Moo is home and safe. You've learned an incredibly valuable lesson that isn't intuitive for humans. And now you're able to help others through your various channels. Hug Moo and don't beat yourself up for being a human. Thank you both for helping the rest of us learn from your example.
Lee, it's so good you had a happy ending. Don''t beat yourself up. You can't know what kind of past Moo had. We have a rescue dog for 11 years now. Sometimes he'll go wandering too far down to the river on our property. And to this day, if I call him, he won't come back if he senses frustration in my voice. He'll just stand frozen like a statue. So I have to go all the way to him with a happy voice, pet him, tell him he's a good boy (he loves hearing that) and only then will he prance back home with me. We can never raise our voice to him or call him a "bad dog", otherwise he will pee in fear and dart into a corner. We believe it's PTSD. So who knows what races through Moo's brain. One thing is for sure, he certainly loves you. His snoring sounds so peaceful.
So glad you got your Moo back! It's the worst feeling, all the anxiety worrying about them out there alone. I can only imagine the relief to finally get Moo back in your arms!
You are loved Lee, you are brave, you share your deepest vulnerabilities with us, and we are grateful.
There is no one more trustworthy to help dogs learn their own life lessons.
Moo (and maybe the rest of your pack) learned the lesson that "Dad will always love us, and will do everything to bring us back home"
Lee, you are the BESt dad and pack leader ever!
There are haters? Who could possibly hate this man? Lee is one of the best people on this planet and I hope he continues helping dogs in need.
Amen! My thoughts exactly! One of the best people on this earth!
Totally 100 percent AGREE 💕💗💓💖♥️✨️✨️✨️
Misery loves company.
No one is perfect..,
Be as kind to yourself as you are to your animals.
He definiitively is harder on himself then he is on his animals. Meh, the man has so much humility but has a cemented back up army of followers that know him and would do anything for him including trying to send a message to his amydala that he is being hyper self-critical.
Well said.
Best advice of all... please take this to heart, Lee @The Asher House 🕊️🙏❤️🕯️🐾
That is great advice.
Bang on correct
@@patriciavines1526 they ARE....The typo had unintended dark humor.

What a sweetheart. Kind heart. One of a kind. Please don't underestimate your kindness.
Man Lee, you've had a hard year. I'm glad Moo came back and you were reunited. Don't be hard on yourself, I think you'll help alot of people with this video.
Can anyone else hear Moo snoring 😴
You're so right Lee looks devastated. He will be hard enough on himself there's no need for anyone else to pile on!
He had a rough day,he is out cold!😴😴
Yes Lee, you on too hard on yourself. But you are very honest with your "people of the page". We love you.. Do you know of any good rescues in Fla.? I know u don't answer these , but I thought I might ask anyway.

You are one in a million. Wish we had 1000 more like you. Dont stop what you are doing.
The fact the you shared this says everything about your character. On behalf of all the animals you save and love, thank you! ❤
Mine either
Ditto! Who knew??!
Amen!
You said that all perfectly ❤ I totally agree. Give yourself a break Lee. You’re an incredible inspiration to all of us!

Your courage to be transparent and open with us shows true strength. The lesson is one of immense importance
I can't believe there are people that could say anything negative to you. I know you care for every single dog like your own child. God Bless You!
RIGHT?! Those who are negative to Lee are not,,, will never ever be perfect,,, period!!!
Lee’s self-awareness is absolutely unparalleled.
That's a huge sweeping comment. How do you know it's "unparalleled"? I don't think it's healthy to put anyone on such a pedestal. It only fires up their self criticism when they make mistakes. He's human like the rest of us.
@@suspendeddisbelief401 Take a walk. Hope you'll feel much better soon.
Give yourself the same compassion you extend to every animal that enters your life!!
could not have said it better 😍
I couldn’t agree more. As the saying goes “to err is human, to forgive is divine”, allow yourself some grace and forgive the mistake. You were blessed with a great outcome and a valuable lesson to pass on. We are all better equipped because you chose to share this deeply personal experience.💕
Yes, the idea of spreading your scent too thin is an awesome lesson ... but I still don't understand how the dog got out of the car in the first place ...
@@douglascarlson9006 he squeezed out the open window.

We have all been there . Thank goodness you have moo back . Don’t beat yourself up. It was a learning experience .
Our scaredy-cat dog was running in the desert for about a week. How he survived is an act of God…and your telling Moo’s story brought it all back. Nothing but grace, love and compassion, Lee. 💗💗💗
So glad the story had a happy ending and you got Moo back! Definitely a lesson learned!
My beloved got loose once for a day. I live where we have coyotes and my pup was new and I was terrified. I did find him and were both happy
Lee you are an Angle. Don't be so hard in yourself. We love you.❤
❤❤❤❤
Babs Fry is local to me. She's EVERYONE'S go-to and there are dogs lost around here ALLL the time. She could probably teach us a lot of lessons. Glad to hear things worked out. I can't imagine if I lost any of my babies.
Does she just do lost dogs. Or Can she help with behaviour too. Do you know.
@@nikkijayne4451 I'm not sure. I imagine so, since she clearly understands the dog psychology.

Hey! Lee, please don’t be so hard on yourself. 🙌🏼🫶🏻🐕🫶🏻💞 sending you much love 💕 to you and fur babies 💛
It’s a big lesson for us as well!! Thank you so much .
Thanks Lee for passing on all of Babs wisdom and experience. This should help many people and their dogs! 💕💕💕 So glad for your ultimate outcome. ✌️
Lee, you are the sweetest man with a heart of gold ❤God knows your tender heart. Things work out, bless you💕
Powerful lesson to be learned, thank you for sharing Lee 💜
It's crazy to imagine him leaving your side, since now he is your shadow. Just shows how ur love has made him whole.
Sharing mistakes is ( in my opinion) the best way to get through them and learn from them. "Those who are humble will not be humiliated"
Haters are evil people who don't know the love you give to every animal you have saved.
We all make mistakes, and believe me, we all learn from our mistakes.. we're so happy moo is back and you're doing okay too♥️🫶🏼♥️
We love you too Lee☺️
You sweet man, you are human! You are such a blessing to the human race/ animal race🙏 bless you move forward and do great things! Much love & respect
When you replace "why is this happening with what is this trying to teach me, everything shifts -Lee you are so amazing
I am in Florida and my 2 sons go to UCF where many of the students were displaced from hurricane Ian and are without food and electricity I was just at Pet Smart to buy some supplies, I saw these 2 girls w/UCF shirts on and a puppy they were buying supplies for it was clear it was a new puppy I asked them where they got her, and they said they just rescued her this morning well it immediately hit my heart to bless them and give them a 100.00 as a random act of kindness I told them go buy whatever you need for your puppy-they started to cry .
Lee I would have never done that had I not been following Asher house-but when they said they just rescued her from a shelter my first thought was you and all you do to rescue ; you do so much you are so loving and kind and things happen Thank you for being such a beautiful soul!!
Thank you Susan. You are a kind person. Praying for the all people affected by Ian.
That was so sweet and generous of you. Rewarding those girls for rescuing will never be forgotten and I believe they will always and forever Rescue instead of shopping for a pet. Bless you and Thank you for your kindness.
What a very sweet life experience of your dog returning ❤️❤️❤️
God bless you and your dogs!Moo loves you and I also feel your love for him, too.

🙏

UGH; I'm so sorry that happened - I can totally relate to the panic you must have been in. I'm so glad Moo is safe.
This advice saved our dog: If you have to leave the area, leave a pile of your "scent", clothes, and blankets, or whatever, where he was last seen. He will probably be "parked" there, when you get back. Really works!

I’m glad he’s safe and that he found you💞
We are human, and I have a runner, so I understand.
❤ thanks for sharing!
I'm sorry hun, im sure your heart dropped. Thank goodness it worked out. Big hugs and just keep doing what you do!
So much compassion ❤️
I'm so pleased you found Babs, and your dear furry came back too.
What a beautiful account of your two fabulous well loved family members you sound like a wonderful compassionate dog owner ❤ xx
Beautiful real story, we will see them again.
Take care!
I am the same, just found this channel a week ago, and I am obsessed.
And make sure the window isn’t open so much that the dog can jump out. My dog recently jumped out of my car but luckily came right back. So glad you and Moo are back together!!
This video will save so many dogs from being lost forever! So thankful you shared this story. You are so kind and humble. So glad Moo found you! ❤
I did worse, i lost my 3 yr. Old one time. Never did that again
