Trans builder for over 20 yrs. Torque the bolts to spec in the proper pattern and go around twice. NEVER use a red rag in the pan. Use lint free disposables if your going to wipe. Lube guard is the best. You can also use limited slip additive for an LSD diff. Works like a champ and won't damage a seal.

Lol. " I don't frikin know...whatever" love your video thanks for taking the time to help us less fortunate "lift less" people change our fluid in our driveways with a good reference. Much appreciated

This works , the shutter is due to break in material from the trans , just replace the fluid and filter and it should fix it if it doesn't , next would be the torque converter , if that doesn't that it's a transmission issue.

And keep in mind that draining the fluid from the pan still leaves quite a bit of old fluid in the trans, particularly in the converter. So, if you still get a slight shudder, you may need to go through the drain/refill process again.

Another thing that will help the shudder is to get it tuned. Get it dpne by a local reputable tuner. ALL of the 6LxxE and 8LxxE allow a bit of slip in the torque converter and command the torque converter to lockup in more gears than actually is needed. Have the tuner turn the allowed slip down to 0.

Thank you for this I was flying down the highway and my transmission cooler line popped off the radiator due to weak clip and let out all my fluid while driving now getting it towed hoping just filling it back up with fluid help because I was totally not moving thinking the transmission went out only problem is mine is AWD and I have absolutely no room to get to that Plug

I heard the 2.0 has the same Aisin 8 speed transmission as the one in the rcf.

You might consider a different microphone setup...your voice kept fading and then got louder repeatedly. Otherwise not a bad video.

    Good walk thru video.
I couldn’t find the bolt torque specs so I just tightened them to 2lbs each. They were extremely easy to take off.
I measured the amount of transmission fluid that came out. It was 6qts. I just refilled with 6qts.
I ran a pipe thru the top engine bay down to the transmission fill hole.
Gravity fed the fluid in. Didn’t need the pump.
Did you measure how much came out?

    • @Wolfsgarageinc
      @Wolfsgarageinc  3 роки тому +2

I did not, as service manual specifies filling transmission until overflows through top plug.

I have the 6L45 in my CTS, and the pan bolts torque spec is 80 inch-lbs., also it should be 6.7 qts. exactly with a simple filter change service, the 6L50 is the same it just holds a little more total if you were to do a complete flush...I'm not positive if they have the same tranny in the ATS but it sure does look the same to me, hope that helps?

I had a 2016 I bought it with 22,000 miles and it had the shudder. Brought it to dealership they put new transmission fluid in and it worked great at first 3,000 miles it returned worst then before. I think the torque converter seized because the person before Mr drove it for so long with the shudder the metal shavings went all all inside. All they'll do it replace it with another faulty tc or transmission. Cars junk I'm so happy I launched it

    Rofl.
    #1 - ALWAYS REPLACE GASKETS.
With the high cost of trans fluid and the amount of time this job takes from start to finish, why risk wasting your $$ on leaking fluid and time by doing the job again just for a gasket leak?
#2 - ALWAYS REPLACE THE TUBE BUSHING
Materials break down over time, especially with X amount of heat cycles. Why not replace the tube bushing to reset the heat cycles to 0 on that part? Also although the tube should be a direct fit, there may be some tolerance changes between manufacturers of filters (ACD in this video vs teh aftermarket filter). That filter bushing might be purposefully designed to fit the tolerances of the tube they manufactured. Meaning the seal inside might be slightly larger to create a better seal against the tube.
ALWAYS replace all the parts included to reduce your risk of premature failure. Never reuse gaskets, even if the manufacturer says they're reusable. You can only usually trust that advice if the vehicle is less than 3yr old when the vehicle typically sees warranty service
